No, I think her mom had died. That's why she had her Mom's box.

So, I guess the Wolvercote Tongue is somehow related to the Wolvercote Trove. And, it took until 1990 but the Masons did finally get their revenge! Recently I've been listening to the radio series Cabin Pressure nonstop, so its a little weird to actually see Roger Allam as opposed to just hearing his voice. It was nice seeing Abigail Thaw again. So, if your husband gets arrested for killing his daughter and it turns out your marriage wasn't legal, do you resign the office you were just elected to?

They never talked about Paul's most important performance ever - he was in the very last episode of Strangers with Candy.

More info I learned from Wikipedia - after James Cheney's funeral, the Goodman and Schwener familes and others helped the Chaneys to leave Mississippi and move to New York. You know, I am really glad that Rachel and the other MSNBC shows are on. None of the other stations really talked about the Supreme Court decision about buffer zones and about I'm guessing none of them pointed out the fact they have their own buffer zone. They all thought the soccer game was a more important story. But other channels haven't covered the assault on women's rights are much as Rachel does so I shouldn't be that surprised. And, last night was awesome! Rachel said National Airport! She didn't use the R word. -
Of course, I have no idea what swimming pools really like here in the States. The only one I ever see is the one in my building which is your normal high rise swimming pool. Of course, knowing Eastenders this story will drag out so long we will just push Mick in the pool ourselves. We still don't know what's up with Charlie Cotton.

Heh, Denny annoys me also. You'd think someone related to Dennis and Den would be more awesome. Den was horrible but a great horrible. The funny thing about how upset I am about Dennis's death is that in PBS land, it hasn't happened yet! He's still alive for me. I wonder if Mick will get someone to help him to learn how to swim. On our side of the pond, there are adult swim lessons so I'm sure there are in England. And, I'm guessing there are many adults who would be scared so the teacher would be able to help with their fears. And, it is scary! I've been swimming most of my life and I still get a little nervous when I am in water when I can't touch the floor of the pool (heh which since I am short is about 5 feet).

I'm surprised if she is coming back this summer why they even said anything. Some of the characters get so little screen time, who would even notice. Like Kat - except for her scene Monday (?) it seems like she hasn't been on in weeks. I can't decide if Denny will find the gun or if Sharon will shoot someone that she thinks is breaking in. Ooo, maybe Denny will shoot Phil. It would be justice since Phil caused the death of Dennis.

I went to high school in St Louis and they made us swim as part of gym class. No! I like the thought that Dot is going to be a great grandmother.

Don't ever forget that Morbo, Lllr and the Horrible Gelatinous Blob sound nothing alike! Nothing! I'm not sure if he is on enough to count as a secondary character (would then he be a thirdondary?) but one of my favorites is Randy.

I understand why Billy and Mick don't know how to swim but I was just wondering if that was normal. Do most people in England know how to swim? That was a really nice pool Mick went to. So, Phil just left a gun in a shopping bag in a house with a young kid. None of these people should be parents.

I had no idea that people have been vandalizing James Chaney's grave all these years. Seriously - its not enough that they tortured and murdered him, they can't even let his grave rest in peace. I am glad that Rachel talked about Chaney, Goodman and Schwerner. I'm one of the group who regard them as heroes. Years ago I wrote a column for our organization's newsletter about the importance of voting and it started off with a reference to them - basically saying that they had been murdered so people could vote so don't forget to vote. -
Wow, Linda is really trying to win worst mother of the year award. But its probably realistic - I don't have first hand experience but I'm sure that not every parent is 100% ok with the situation immediately after their child comes out. I'm guessing that is her problem with how she is treating Johnny. Ah, I was wrong about the stupidest plot ever (which is stupid on its own without even involving Billy Mitchell). Heh, yeah, I am surprised the Billy isn't involved -normally plans do not go that badly without him screwing something up. I thought that bouncers were the attackers but they were just asses on their own.

Yeah, Phil in the old days wouldn't have set up something that was so easy to figure out. Poor Johnny. But he probably saved Sharon's life - if he had been downstairs and had been also knocked unconscious, he wouldn't have been able to get Sharon the medical help so quickly. And, also, he's not the one who sent over the idiots who attacked her.

I think I focused more on the second part of the clue which mentioned the oldest Governor of California and since the category was about Jerrys. I forgot to mention the best part of last night (besides Andrea winning) - an entire category about Lord Rickman of the Alan! .

Aw, Ian was very sweet in yesterday's episode. I think Phil was behind that attack. I think he wanted to prove a point to Sharon (what point, I'm still confused about) so he told the guys to act as obnoxiously as possible so Sharon would fire them and then they were supposed to trash the bar. I don't think they were supposed to attack Sharon though. Going by the Eastenders tweets right now, I was right about Phil!

I think that is the second time recently that Jerry Brown was a triple stumper. I thought he was well known nationally but I guess not.

According to the Masterpiece Theater twitter feed, a lot of stations did not show this last night. People are not happy.

Since the PBS website only mentioned Jack (which to be fair is enough to get me watching), I looked up the rest of the cast on IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2829558/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_6 and it has a really great cast. Including my new favorite actor Iain Glen.

I'm not an expert on the British justice system like I am with the American (thanks to years of watching Law and Order) but I've been recently watching Rumpole of the Bailey and going by that - yes. Rumpole always seems to treat each person he is defending like he is innocent. Even when it is obvious that he guilty. Though, I should point out that after watching Rumpole, I am now more confused how the British justice system works. Oh, update on the Washington DC "crisis". When I asked WETA when they were going to show The Escape Artist, I got a tweet back saying that because of the pledge drive, they were unable to show it. I nicely replied that it seemed that IMO its not going to help the pledge drive if they don't actually show the programs that people want to watch.
-
Neither of the PBS stations in DC are showing it either. Ack - I just read in the Post that WETA has no plans to show it and MPT is showing Part 1 on Monday at 4 am and Part 2 on June 23 at 4 am. What the heck? Time to go yell at WETA on twitter. Blech - does WETA think we would rather watch Suzie Orman than David Tennant? Oh well, it's Game of Thrones instead for me.

The end of the Luck of the Fryish when Fry is reading his nephew's tombstone and we see it says "Here Lies Philip J. Fry, named for his uncle, to carry on his spirit". Gets me every single time. The end of The Sting when you hear Fry and Leela whisper that they could both use a shower. Billy and Katey just nailed the emotion in those two lines.

I wonder if cop lady is actually interested in Max or if they are replaying the Kate/Phil storyline where Kate was pretending to date Phil to get info on one of his crimes. Though, it doesn't make sense in that she isn't investigating the crime is she - she is only the family liaison. Sigh. Back when Phil was a criminal. Now he just seems so boring. He is being nice to everyone. What happened?

And, right when Iraq is falling apart. Because I am sure she asked the man responsible for the war all about it. Seriously, does the Today Show not get what it looks like when they have that puff piece about the Bushes and then the very next thing mentioned during the news is the disaster going on in Iraq.

Just shut up James Webb. I didn't vote for you for Senator so you can quit after one term. I hope Stephen was joking about his even thinking about running for President because...no...just no.

Unless I am making things up in my head, I think he has. I vaguely remember at least a couple of guests who got two segments.
