  1. Celebrating Kamala Harris' birthday by promoting her shaminar. Couldn't just wish her a happy birthday, could you Meeks? Because if it's not about you, it didn't happen.
  2. In this case it's kinda warranted tho. I wish the media would go all out and call this what it is: state-sanctioned kidnapping. You don't just "lose" kids' family details. It's fucking atrocious. Soboroff and Ainsley deserve every award there is for their work on this I think it's just something about Mika that grates on people. I've seen Katy and others get angry about this, but it's not this whiny "cry reading", because it's so over the top. If she's so worried about this issue, why doesn't she ever do any "journalism", like she likes to call herself? She sits on her ass cry reading about stuff. Go cover the story on the ground. She does her job from her home. She used to do her job from a studio or a bar stool in a pub. Or hungover on the WH lawn.
  3. They were talking about Americans overseas voting and he said "you and Joe need to tell them to vote for America, to bring it back to its glory". Yes make these two egomaniacs think they're going to save America. Jesus F Christ. I'm going to throw up.
  4. BTW, This is me. I am Liz Lemon. I guess we're supposed to like Mika's brother but I happened to turn it on just when he said "Mika Americans living in Europe LOOVE your show". So now I have to tell another Brzezinski to F off??!! Seriously??!! My own sister wouldn't stoop to kissing my ass like that. Why are they talking about this? It happened months ago, and using bad metaphors to describe the campaign are the least of Brad Parscale's problems. Apparently no one told Mika, be very careful what you wish for. Saint? I would think Mika would relate to that line. It should have been part of their wedding vows. Or they could have just used that Death Star stuff "It blows up in the end. " Or "IT'S A TRAP!!!!!"
  5. I'm not implying they have active "feuds" going on, it's more "yeah we tolerate him but if we had our druthers, hard pass". We know the little hissy fit Joe threw when Rachel shut him down on MTP years ago. And we've all talked about how they use the show to promote their personal projects at the expense of the quality of the show. There have been stories of people at MSNBC being upset about Joe & Mika and their attempt to rehabilitate Halperin, and seeing how they both fly off the handle any time someone disagrees with them, I'm gonna guess they aren't going to win any popularity contests. I also think the constant baiting of Trump is an attempt to get him to attack them, and then they get everyone feeling sorry for them. Yes I believe Joe is that devious. Because he loves the attention. And so does Mika. YMMV. 🙂
  6. They aren't even good enough for basic cable anymore.
  7. Brian will be the host of the Election Night coverage on MSNBC. Relegating Joe & Mika to Peacock is pretty much a slap in the face. I would love to find out if Brian or Rachel told TPTB "No Scarborough on our broadcast". Brian has made comments about Mika reading Joe's WaPo columns on air, by complimenting Eugene on his column and saying that Eugene is too humble to read his column on air, unlike "some people" but I would like to ask you what you meant...", and I'm sure Joe wouldn't go within 20 feet of a studio where his arch nemesis "R" is sitting. MSNBC probably already had enough people booked. I'm wondering what kind of shape Mika is going to be in at 9 pm. Shouldn't she be in bed by then? The sugar rush would have worn off and the Vodka and Ambien will be kicking in. The good news is, if they're in FL, the control room can cut their feed whenever they have to.
  8. Brian Williams said "at last check we have no ballistic missiles that promote oral hygiene." I guess I missed that five minutes.
  9. And the amount of early voting. Very reminiscent of 2008.
  10. So here's how this went down. Joe wanted to be in on election coverage. Cesar had an assistant call the producer and tell them "Lester, Chuck & Savannah cover on NBC. Brian, Rachel, Nicolle, Joy with the various panelists, Claire, Steele, Heileman, are MSNBC anchors. Tell Joe & Mika they can have Peacock. Take it or leave it. " I watched Peacock during the Barrett hearings here at work because Chuck Todd was doing coverage on MSNBC. But I'm gonna say most people aren't watching Peacock on a night this important. You can stream MSNBC live, or watch it or NBC on tv. Peacock is your last resort. Except if Biden wins all these Lincoln Project people will start bashing him Day One.
  11. Watch Alicia Mendez or Joshua Johnson, or Yasmin on the weekend. See how professionals do this job. I suggest them because they have the newest shows so it's a fresh take on the news.
  12. That was before someone DARED to question Joe on his behavior. If someone else that he doesn't like does something, he has authority to make fun of them, imitate them, whatever he wants because it serves him. If a person questions Joe on his hypocrisy, hellfire shall rain down them!!!!!
  13. So every state has its own Facebook, Joe? ok I don't know how anyone watches this show for 3 hours and thinks "Yeah!! This is what I want to start my day!! Two misinformed millionaires screaming and whining!"
  14. I like it more when it's Kristen and David and Ben solving mysteries, not the screaming daughters, etc. Was watching it last night and the one with the girls at the school singing all the time came up and I skipped it. Just not in the mood for all the noise. Maybe we could give Kristen's husband custody of the girls, and he'd move. Agree the grandmother and Leland is gross. He had to put a spell on her.
  15. Then we're both nuts! I just watched Donna give Josh 7 kinds of hell for even suggesting that she was complaining about Jack Reese getting transferred because he was her bf, and not because, as we find out, it was Hutchinson punishing him for giving Bartlett a force depletion report that accurately predicted casualties if they sent troops to Kundu. After Josh said maybe Jack asked for the transfer, so he could get away from Donna. AS IF. In the previous scene, Josh was showing how jealous he was by telling Charlie about Jack's dress uniform buttons. Oh and CJ came onto Danny just to shut him down about the terrorist plane murder thing. In an office with windows. Right outside the press briefing room. Like, WTF Sorkin??! I think Aaron used his writing back then to work out his issues with women. Even in Trial of Chicago 7, he makes up a fictional female character who was an undercover cop to try to get info from Jerry Rubin. It's kind of played for laughs but there seems to be a recurring theme in his writing.
  16. He normally tells men they're terrible people and that's an awful question.
  17. This is not because college kids don't think Jerry Seinfeld is funny. I have never recommended large family T giving dinners. I recommend staying home eating what you want, doing what you want.
  18. Gosh Jonathan sorry we bored you with information. The entire cast of This is Us were going to boycott the town hall. When I saw Trump trashing NBC and Savannah that made me want to watch it. For a couple minutes.
  19. WTF just happened? I don't know who that conservative Christian author was, but he is probably regretting walking into that buzz saw. White conservative Christians whining about how hard things are for them. Cry me a river. I hate to say this, but Joe and I agree re the Trump town hall. I kept telling people who were lighting their hair on fire, just watch and wait. I'll bet dollars to donuts Cesar knows exactly what he is doing. Savannah Guthrie deserves a medal for what she went thru last night. She was the best moderator they've had at any of these events. And IMO we get more out of them in a town hall, where each person speaks without being interrupted or yelled at.
  20. I guess I don't understand what you think is icky about their relationship, is it from the standpoint of him using power over her sexually? He never once made a lewd comment to her or about her. He told her once she looked nice in a dress. He never suggested she do anything sexual to keep her job. A supervisor by definition has power over an employee. Was Josh a dick sometimes? Yes. But he was a dick to everyone. He was also the first person you'd call if you were in trouble, because you wouldn't want to bother Leo. I wouldn't call Donna vapid, which by definition means offering nothing. Donna offered A LOT. If you have ever worked in a position of executive assistant to someone in a very upper management position, those people are the power behind the throne. Josh appreciated what she did, so much so that he didn't want to give her a promotion for fear of losing her. Donna grew thru the seven seasons of the show, which is the whole point of narrative fiction. A character has to grow and change. Also as far as power, I watched an episode just last night where Donna called Josh an idiot. To his face. And there was no repercussion whatsoever. I wish I had that much power over my boss.
  21. No it wasn't because he was her love interest, maybe the viewers knew they loved each other, and Donna thought she loved him, but she grew to resent him. Donna left because Josh wouldn't discuss giving her more responsibility. She had grown and could do more and he wanted her where she was. They have 44 minutes to service several characters, and not everyone can have an independent story line. There are restrictions on tv shows as far as budgets for actors' appearances, time constraints etc.
  22. You don't necessarily have to relate to her. She was supposed to be an innocent who was thrown into this world and became very savvy at negotiating it. I was very disappointed in her giving up on the Irish photojournalist. I would have left the WH and gone off with him in a heart beat.
  23. Donna had to get out from under Josh (that's what she said) to realize how much she had to offer. That's why she quit. She realized she was too good for that assistant job. She was smart, maybe she didn't have a law degree from Yale , but she had common sense that Josh Lyman would never have. The scene in the SUV when they're talking about the pro choice group supporting Vinnick and Donna tells them, "they're not on our side. They're on their own side. They're an interest group jockeying for influence. You think they're supporters of a Republican no matter what they're leadership says? Pull back. I bet 85% of them are dyed-in-the-sackcloth Santos supporters." The look on Josh's face. Suddenly the power dynamic of their relationship did a 180. She had the upper hand from there on.
  24. Donna was around 25, Josh was a very youthful 38 when they met. They had a close friendship and flirtation, but it never went further. He didn't "romance" her while she was his assistant. He dated Amy, he had a crush on Joey. Donna dated Jack the Naval Officer, the Republican Congressional aide to name a couple. And they didn't really hook up til she was 33 and he was 46, That's not a big deal. When I was 34 I dated a guy who was 25. People thought I was the younger of the two of us. I just find mistakes they made in factual stuff, like Donna not being a US citizen because of the boundary between MN & Canada, but her parents were US citizens so she was a citizen. There's a lot of stuff that people in the positions they held would not have been involved with, people in legislative affairs would handle more of the Congressional interactions. Toby & Sam would be communications and speech writers, not negotiating with Congress. The director of Communications would not try to solve Social Security. That's what the President's economic advisors are for. I don't like the overtly sexual stuff they would say to each other. Once CJ said to Sam "I'm gonna throw you down on this sofa and do you right here". WTF Comments about the women's bodies, etc. Bruno made a lot of really awful comments to women, when he ran the Bartlett re election campaign. No one liked Toby being the leaker of the military shuttle story. Richard Schiff said Toby would have NEVER done that. That whole story line was ridiculous and unnecessary. There was enough conflict between Toby and Josh, with Josh leaving to run Santos' campaign, they didn't need to make Toby betray Bartlett and his friends. I also don't like Zoey being kidnapped. Her detail would have gone in the bathroom with her. They would have been standing off to the side when she was sitting with that little asshole boyfriend at the club. She wouldn't move that they didn't know where she was. What I love about the show is the friendships and the loyalty they have to each other. "Now you're down in the hole, too." "Yeah but I've been here before and I know the way out. " "As long as I have a job, you have a job".
