Poor Peaches 😢 I am thinking my best thoughts for her and for you ❤️

I am a big fan of Sherlock and thought Andrew Scott was brilliant as Moriarty (“I will burn the *heart* out of you!”). He was also excellent in Black Mirror. However, I never thought he was hot until he was the Priest. Lordy!

Ric Ocasek, lead singer of the Cars, has died 😞

I was about seven months pregnant with my first child. I remember thinking that he was in the safest place he would ever be, and wondering what kind of world I was bringing him into. My husband worked at the printing plant for a major Toronto newspaper. He was called into work because they were printing a special afternoon/evening edition. Our neighbourhood lies under the final approach to one of Toronto airport’s busiest runways, so we’re used to airplane noise. I remember how quiet it was for three or four days afterwards.

Anticipation For His Dark Materials
Capricasix replied to Meredith Quill's topic in His Dark Materials
I am so excited for this series - the books are some of the best I’ve read in years. I think Ruth Wilson is going to be amazing as Mrs Coulter, and Andrew Scott will always be Moriarty to me! “I will burn the heart out of you!” -
I actually caught myself saying “Fuck-a-doodle-doo” yesterday 😳 Just glad my kids didn’t hear me 🤣🤣

“Who put 50p in the eejit?” Ah hahahaha 🤣🤣 Some terrific one-liners in this show!

Kid Charlemagne is one of my favourites!

Siobhan Finneran’s character in Downton Abbey was such a spiteful hag that it’s nice to see her playing a decent person 😄

Martin Compston and Sophie Rundle (Bodyguard, Peaky Blinders) have been cast in a new BBC series called The Nest. And he gets to use his own accent! https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2019/martin-compston-sophie-rundle-the-nest

I watched the first half of the first ep and then put it on hold for Happy Valley. (I also checked out a humongous book from the library, so I need time for that too 😄) I’ll most likely get back to it when I finish Happy Valley and my library book.

Oh Angelkitty, how scary! Thank goodness you got to the hospital in time. Wishing you an uneventful recovery ❤️

Perfect! 😄

I watched the first four seasons on Netflix Canada, and resorted to...er, alternative methods for Season 5. I see that Hinterland is on Netflix - maybe I’ll give that a whirl.

So I just finished the last episode, and now I’m bereft 😄 That last scene with them, when Duncan called Jimmy “Mary”...I am verklempt. BBC better order a new season is all I can say! Now I need another moody, scenic British/European detective series. Anyone have recommendations?

The actors do have great chemistry. That scene with them on the beach was wonderful.

I’ve just started watching Shetland, after plowing through five seasons of Line of Duty in about a week 😄 Loving the melancholy, atmospheric cinematography and score of Shetland. I did watch Cracker back in the day when it was first on PBS. It’s been so long that I forget how awful a person he was, but I do remember his being obsessed with a female detective co-worker, while being married. I’ll have to search it up somewhere.

Thanks!

Broadchurch is when I first fell in love with Olivia Colman (and Jodie Whittaker, if I’m honest!). The accents, the hot British cops...I mean, Richard Madden in Bodyguard? LAWDY (edited to make “accent” plural, because there are so many lovely accents in the UK!)

I just started the series on Netflix; after bingeing Bodyguard (twice) and Line of Duty in the last month, I’m addicted to British police dramas! I am really enjoying the series so far - the scenery reminds me of Cape Breton in Nova Scotia. Douglas Henshall was in an episode of Inspector Lewis a few years ago, and Mark Bonnar (Duncan) was in the second season of Line of Duty.

Good thoughts heading his way ❤️
