  1. @ebk57 I love an enabler. Actually the only reason Im holding off is I haven't got the final bill for the reno.....playoff tix won't push it over the line but I feel like I should be responsible in light of that.....maybe by round 2 though, if there is one for the Jays.

  2. I think it was wishful thinking for me lol. On the bright side I won't have to deal with the traffic/transit chaos of leaving a game surrounded by drunk people.

  3. Is anyone going to a playoff game? Or is it too early to ask that. I'm considering it even though I probably shouldn't lol.

But then it's like which game. Cause I probably should only go to one.

So like I start out just 'curious' about prices and seat availability and then....Raps championship series game 5 I was just enjoying my morning coffee and looking at stub hub just out of innocent curiosity and before you know it the checkout button was pressed lol.

  4. @Colleenna  maybe the Leafs should try baseball lol.

I'm from Toronto but I don't like hockey and I think the Leafs are a disgrace, and my joke/not really joke is I don't want them hanging around the Jays bc they're bad luck.

Case in point I was right about the Jays immediately losing the series after the Leafs showed up lol.

I like to think the Jays are better than the Leafs but this year has me thinking maybe not.

The Raptors are the best franchise here imo and if only Masai Ujiri could run the Jays. Although I don't actually mind Shapiro the president but I have zero respect for the GM.

  5. You mean the downtime? I was just looking at the dates again. It's even more than I thought. Last day of season is Oct 3. Division series OCT 11? That's 8 days. I guess the tradeoff is home field advantage.

That just seems insane. I really wish they would cut the regular season a bit, like even just to 152. It would give them some days for rain outs, and they could plan a better post season schedule. I know it was affected by the lockout and late start this yr but still.

  6. I was listening to a podcast today and the guy said it's possible these next 2 homers could be the hardest homers to get in his career.

But take heart bc tomorrow is a bullpen/wave the white flag game for the Jays. So it coukd work out for Judge.

  7. So here is my prediction: 61 tomorrow with Berrios and 62-65 the next game which is the Jays bullpen game.

Tomorrow lines up bc apparently one of the Maple Leafs is throwing first pitch so I'm sure that 'winning' culture will rub right off and the Jays will lose the series post haste.

  8. I can't see them benching Judge but I do hope the Jays walk him every at bat

So 61 is a tie of this record and 62 to break? Are Yankees fans excited about 61 or 62? Sorry I'm not really following it.

Just wondering when the celebration will break out. Like if he hits 61 tonight is everyone going to lose their minds?

  9. I'm pretty sure it'll happen when they play Toronto, that's my guess. That's just how our luck rolls. Was it Cabrera had some milestone there this year or last?

  10. I've read a few comments saying the Yankees should just bench him Friday lol.

You can see where this is going in a few years- doesn't the NBA have rules that starters have to start unless there is a legit issue?

  11. I guess Kay has seen those crappy Apple broadcasts and wants no part of it lol.

But I don't see why Kay should bail out MLB from fan outrage. Fans have hated the streaming from the get go and it was all just ignored in pursuit of $.

What if there was a paywall? Just wait, bc it's coming.

That being said, I hope for Yankees fans sake it doesn't happen Friday.

  12. Yeah Terry Lester is great but not for Mason.

Leaving wives is one thing but I never bought Mason would cheat on Julia. And especially not as casually as he did with Sasha. Mason, fir all his faults, always struck me as a guy longing for his own family and I think he was all in with Julia and Mary before her.

  13. I keep wondering what the most advantageous position is with the new playoff format. The division winner has to sit for what 5 days?

I don't really like that idea. I would be good with first or last wild card. Doesn't seem to be any advantage to second.

  14. Lol you might have enjoyed it more than me, bc it was the Jays they were ignoring in favour of a 2 inning interview with Gunnar.

I would've skipped it but I wasn't at home bc of the reno so I was just killing time.

FYI Adley- the catcher- looks like a great player.

  15. So I finally succumbed and am watching an Apple TV game bc reasons.

So wow these announcers don't really know anything about baseball eh? So it's a really basic conversation with a ballgame in the background.

No way I would pay for this. Also if they're doing a game set in Toronto and they talk about temperature they could at least reference Celsius as well as Farhenheit given half their audience is Canadian.

Also if they're going to show Odor punching Bautista without showing the batflip- that's pretty much a crime.

All of this reinforces I'm glad I'm a Microsoft/Samsung girl.

Wtf they are completely ignoring hits and the game.

  16. It's going to be chaos with the shift banned, pitch clock pressure on pitchers, and almost a free base if they can provoke 2 pick off attempts.

I was reading about the Savannah Bananas, which actually sound fun, but not at the MLB level. But that's the kind of chaos/clown show Manfred wants. That's the feeling I get.

I also wish though if the players had specific proposals or modifications that got turned down they would say what they were.

  17. There is also still technology issues with the automatic strike zone bc as the rules stand now the strike zone varies based on pitcher size. So the strike zone for Aaron Judge is different than for Alejandro Kirk.

So the technology can only recognize one zone. So how should it be programmed?

I'd be in for a robot commissioner though. U less Manfred already is.

  18. Sigh new rules being approved today. I was really trying to keep an open mind but it's tough.

The pitch clock- so the clock stops if a pitcher 'disengages' like for one of his two pick off attempts? Then can start again, then stop again. And they're expecting umps to keep track of this? The guys that can barely manage the strike zone? Ok. Can't wait for the first fight and ejections over this.

What if a pitcher asks for a new ball? Another disengagement clock stop/start?

I can't imagine this in the playoffs.

-the bigger bases surprised me. I kind of get it from an injury perspective but 15 to 18" seems huge.

The other thing I keep thinking is they keep saying how great all this worked out in the minors. Some of it they only tested in low As. But whatever level- it's just not the same. There's a big difference bw Triple A and a playoff game.

I wonder if they ever assess how much time is spent in games arguing over rules, calls, and replays.
