  1. I work in a job that requires an FBI background check, and I STILL didn't have to pass a drug test. I heard roughly the same thing--getting people to work (even starting at 40K) that have a clean background check is hard enough...don't make it even harder by requiring a drug test. I can't imagine a minimum wage type place would be able to keep employees at all.
  2. I'm behind, but what the heck with the grown ass woman trashing the car of a woman with a golf club? I mean...she wasn't currently dating the guy anyway, so I don't get the rage at all. But even if he had been her current beau or even husband...she was well into her 30s, if not 40s.
  3. This is one of those cases in which I really wondered WHY they chose to go on Judge Judy? I realize the show pays the plaintiff, but $5K is not enough to air out dirty laundry like that. Plus, it isn't going to help Kathryn to let a bazillion people know she is currently incarcerated.
  4. I googled Ms. Kathryn Priest of Meridian, ID. Enjoy, kiddos. https://www.idahostatesman.com/news/local/crime/article167782602.html
  5. Yes and no. There is SSI, for disabled people who did not work at least 40 quarters (so ten years) in their lives, and Social Security Disability (SSDI) for people who did. BOTH are funded by the Social Security administration, so technically, Byrd's taxes.
  6. I actually felt a little sorry for her, that an ancient Cadillac was her "dream car". I can't even imagine being that poor and resigned. I did find the news article about her son who was killed by a train. For some strange reason, I thought he was a little boy who was walking along the tracks. He was, actually, a man in his young 20s who was (from what I understood) a passenger in a car that decided to "go around" the arms and got hit. I am a little surprised that she didn't get money from the driver's insurance, but maybe she did and forgot about buying her dream car with it? Anyway, she didn't actually witness her child being hit by a train, so PTSS is an iffy diagnosis. Generally, that results from survivor guilt and/or witnessing something very traumatic. The train engineer more likely had PTSS than she did.
  7. Most life insurance has a suicide clause for only a few years. After that, suicide won't be a factor. It's super weird that they never found his bike or his body.
  8. So, I am pretty sure the guy last night was a suicide, but it is really weird they can't find his body.
  9. Extreme “pro-life” people are okay with the mom dying, as long as the baby lives. I am also curious about her past life, but much of the belief system behind the anti-abortion movement is that the woman should get punished. I don’t find Aunt Lydia all that unusual.
  10. It seems odd to me that Jews (and Muslims) would choose to convert in Gilead rather than be deported to Israel, epecially if it meant hanging off the side of a building if you said a prayer in Hebrew.
  11. I watch this show with closed captions. The doctor who was gushing over the pediatrician/martha was named Dr. Epstein. So, they didn't kill all the Jews, then?
  12. It is possible that Gilead just brought Emily and Janine back to use as trade.
  13. I thought the show paid it? (so confused)
  14. Does anyone else think Jeanine might be related somehow to Aunt Lydia? Aunt Lydia seems to care more for her, and Jeanine most certainly seems to love her.
  15. Yeah, this is probably what happened. ETA: It is pretty cool that his brother stepped in to help with the kids.
  16. I am past childbearing years with previous cancer and current diabetes. I would go straight to the colonies.
  17. I think Bryce was on drugs and didn't want to go home. But yeah...I would have gone to get him. The one that haunts me is the other child from St. George, Masin. I am guessing he committed suicide, but I would also think they would have found a body by now.
  18. I wonder if that means she will give birth during that episode?
  19. They also spent it at the county fair. That is a LOT of Tom Thumb donuts and kettle corn. Seriously.
  20. There is an interesting documentary on Netflix titled, "The Push". It follows one man who goes from just a normal person to being pressured to push a living man off of a building. It also gives the results of four other people who were put into the same situation. No particulars, but most of the people did indeed push the man off the building, believing it would kill him. There are plenty of other experiments that prove humans will indeed kill other innocent people if it means they get something out of it. We had an entire war in which this happened.
  21. Wow, that is some overpriced stuff that is not really that cool.
  22. Is it just me, or does Giliad resemble the way many farm animals are currently treated? Tagged, forced to breed with a particular bull, having their babies taken away, killed when they are no longer useful? I dunno, maybe too many PETA videos many years ago...
  23. Did anyone get the name of the woman in the second case today? I wanted to check and see how her criminal case is going...
