  1. Bless all of you going through thyroid issues. I've got 2 good friends, who were also co-workers, who were (finally) diagnosed with thyroid issues, so I went right along with them through their aggravating symptoms, unsympathetic doctors, false diagnoses, roller coaster medications, etc. Both are finally doing well. I'm with emma675, if men had this craziness to deal with more often, doctors would be better informed. Both of my friends had the old "it's in your head" line tossed at them. You just don't say that to a woman with wild mood swings. On another subject, I brought this over from another thread: "Disney, love it or hate it, is also well known for having some of the top PR folks in the world. It's rare for them to make a misstep with the public." I don't know if any of you saw the mess they're in now, but it did make national news (this is from one of my local stations): http://www.firstcoastnews.com/story/news/local/consumer/on-your-side/2015/09/16/i-did-not-think-anyone-would-take-me-seriously/32524015/ They took a MAJOR misstep with the public on this one. Yes, he said something dumb, which he freely admitted to, but their actions were totally over the top. I'm interested to see what, if anything, they do for their heavy-handedness. He can petition them to change their decision. They are getting quite a bit of bad press, and not just in FL.
  2. I purposed to visit the Wallers' blog, and went down the rabbit hole of links to other fundie couples who are their friends/relatives (including Josh & Anna--some very interesting reading there, with the hindsight we now have). Yikes. You can tell they all drank deeply from the same vat of kool-aid. Their language is not unlike reading that of another time (I don't want to sully The Bard by even mentioning him in this post, but you get what I mean). Maybe because the only Bible they can use is KJV, so they pick up on that language style, heavy on the "thees, thous, thy," etc.). Methinks I am in great need of a head-clearing goblet of claret to soothe my aggrieved noggin.
  3. Thanks, it's my iPad, which I use all the time (getting ready to prep a recipe on it now). I will try a restart later today to see what that does. Thanks again!
  4. At the risk of sounding like a total crank, did anyone else have the font change on the PTV boards? Or have I unknowingly changed a setting? Between this morning & this afternoon, it got smaller (looks like Arial or similar). I don't like it...
  5. What's funny is Epcot is hosting a Food & Wine Festival all week, so I'm sure they high tailed it out of there by now. Defraud-O-Rama!
  6. I'm beyond amused by this...they would probably think it actually involves cars. I'd like to see them treated to dinner at Hamburger Mary's.
  7. Here you go : http://www.amazon.com/Midwifes-Tale-Gretchen-Moran-Laskas/dp/0385335547
  8. They never went anywhere after Famy's wedding. They've said they're staying in the U.S. for a while, one reason is so Jill could finish her CNM certification.
  9. I just want to know where in the world Derick got his hands on a black leather vest. And if it will show up in his regular wardrobe rotation. Is there a "Dress Like 'Sons of Anarchy' Day" to get a free croissant at Panera?
  10. no, because you pretty much just described Anna's delivery of Mackynzie!
  11. while love is not an emotion, hearts are things upon which things are laid, like a piece of furniture.
  12. Oh, bother. I just did. Drink when you hear the words "heart" or "humble/humility." The comments under the video are pretty biting.
  13. I'm not defending the Bateses for having Nathan Bedford Forrest on their wall, but this may be why. He is most known to others for his nefarious involvement with the birth of the Klan, but he is particularly revered in Tennessee for his Civil War strategies that apparently saved a lot of towns. I lived in a town in north MS with many antebellum homes, and I frequently gave tours (many of these homes are still in the families who built them). I was learning a tour in one such house, and about dropped my teeth when I went into a room prominently featuring a 4-ft portrait of Forrest. I audibly gasped, and the homeowner said he was the reason the town wasn't burned by the Union; he made it a hospital town for the wounded on both sides, so she felt he deserved a place of honor in her home. And in her opinion, that took precedent over that "other little thing" he's attached to. Southern manners at their best. Many visitors had the same reaction that I did, some didn't have a clue who he was. You can't throw a rock in TN or MS without hitting a town, county, school, etc, named "Forrest." Portraits of Civil War generals on the wall--It's probably a regional thing. I am a (displaced) Virginian, raised where the Revolutionary and Civil Wars raged. I grew up with Lee & Stonewall (the other portrait at the Bateses) on the walls of my house. They, along with Washington, Jefferson, Patrick Henry, and many other prominent Virginians, are very highly thought of, despite what side they fought on. They are considered men of honor because of their overall character. But what we know of Forrest? The overriding response there is his Klan connection. I know there are plenty of opinions on this (and have no desire or intent to spark a divisive debate), but I'm just offering a possible explanation for the Bateses choice of wall art. Edited due to spelling issues
  14. While I was writing my initial post, Mr. Tudor said the exact same thing. And then thanked me for getting him involved in anything Dugger, lol!
  15. At times like this, I wish we could suffer through stuff like this together! I'll probably watch it at some point, too.
  16. Sorry to keep yammering on about Kid Farm, but they are wickedly spot-on in so many ways. All their kids' names begin with B, and they're all reasonable, for the most part, but they have a couple of "regular" names they just stuck a B in front of (B-olivia and B-elizabeth). Kind of like...Jinger. She could've been Jean, Joan, Janet, Jasmine, Jane, Jacinda, Jacqueline...the list goes on. That poor girl. And since she's higher up in the birth order, it's not like they'd run out of J-names. They CHOSE "Jinger." I really wonder how she feels about it.
  17. Yeah, uh, this is gonna give me nightmares this weekend. I get the meme, but what the holy heck is that drawing from??? Who did it (leghumper?) and WHY???
  18. The way the baby grand was positioned, I couldn't see. Because I thought it might be Erin, too. You can see the top of a head that looks like it has short hair, so I assumed it was a man, but don't hold me to it. Would the Bateses have been there? I don't think I saw any, but who can tell...these folks all start to look alike in a big group.Edited for clarity.
  19. Oh, I'm weak...my favorite (banned) Simpsons episode EVER. And I ADORE the "Sodom & Gomorrah on the Mississip;" go there at least twice a year. Wish TPTB in the city had embraced this song/episode, because it's all TRUE. They should've just run with it instead of making a bigs ol' stink, Lord knows they embrace the crazy in that city, that's part of why I love it so. I tip my hat to you, you white hot grease fire of pure entertainment!
  20. Wow. You must be a glutton for punishment to watch it again to shazaam it! I still have a very heavy-handed version of "Trust & Obey" rattling around in my head, lol. I would think these people would think Schubert is a fruit-flavored kind of frozen dessert, but I stand roundly corrected!
  21. I've learned that when a network incessantly flogs a show like they've been doing with this one, it's usually doomed. NBC loves the "all the eggs in one basket" approach. I'm not interested because I've got promo burnout, and I've already seen "Memento," which is a gazillion times better than this will ever be. Rant over, thanks for listening! :-)
  22. It's all hymns/religious music. Under no circumstances would TFDW publically admit to liking (or even knowing about) ballet, between the cultural aspect and the defrauding costuming.Edited, because I was having probs cutting & pasting. I just Googled Waller-Keller wedding, and it's on YouTube. It runs just over an hour, but the best thing is, you're not stuck in a pew, so you can do other things at the same time!
