I agree. IMO she is by far the most interesting out of all of them. I don't think anyone here has disputed that. And Joy was well aware too. Exactly. That's how she "apologizes". It's always halfhearted, it's always done in a childish, "It's not a big deal" way, as though she's saying the words under protest, and it's extremely bothersome to her and a waste of her precious time.

She didn't just tell him to calm down. She said it in a disgusted, dismissive, and bitchy tone. She was completely out of line. I thought it was appalling. Well, that's not true. I've worked in television for a long time, and the audience most definitely IS part of the show. That's the whole reason for having a live audience. People react to what the hosts say and do all the time. This show would have a whole different feeling if there was no live audience. The decision that a show be live vs. not live is always well-thought-out and deliberate. That man did nothing wrong, and should not have been spoken to that way. Exactly. Yes.

I thought that was exactly what she was saying. She will not live without her guns. No matter what the consequences to other people may be. Yes. And not only that, but if a civilian pulled out a gun in a situation like that, the civilian could very easily be mistaken for the shooter. And probably end up being killed by police. An NYPD officer told me not long ago that he would never pull out his gun if he was off- duty, out of uniform, and in an active shooter situation because he would be viewed by the police as "that guy" - the one they were trying to stop by any means necessary. I completely agree that Meghan wouldn't have the presence of mind to shoot back. Or to think rationally. She is far too emotional, far too high-strung to react in any kind of rational way. She can't even handle the slightest disagreement on The View without becoming all ruffled and crazy.

S09.E22: Reunion Part 1
DebbieM4 replied to KungFuBunny's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
I totally agree. It wasn't the edit - It was the ongoing theme of being called a liar by pretty much everyone. They were like dogs with bones. Who would voluntarily stick around for that? How many times can you go thru, "You're a liar!", "No, I'm not!", "Yes, you are!". That would be tiresome under the best of circumstances, and these were not the best of circumstances. The problem wasn't the edit - It was the reality of what she was actually living through. I'm sure that was the issue for her. -
S09.E22: Reunion Part 1
DebbieM4 replied to KungFuBunny's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
I don't see why it needs to be a contest either. I actually knew of Camille long before I had ever heard of Denise. Camille is certainly not a big celebrity, but she's not an actress so of course most people hadn't heard of her or knew too much about her. It makes no sense to compare her to a working actress (who I would never think of as a major celebrity anyway). Good for Camille for getting the money she did. There's not one thing wrong with that. Denise made her own choice, so good for her too. I wish they had been guided to talk about what actually happened on the show rather than this nonsense which has nothing to do with anything. -

I agree with all of this. The whole Queen thing was pretty transparent. And Camille is the most entertaining part of this show, in every way. I didn't find that surprising. For someone who's supposed to be so wild & free, and so outside the box, she's actually quite boring and predictable. I would love to see Nicolette Sheridan on this show. For many reasons, but most of all because it would drive Rinna crazy. I have a feeling Nicolette would do quite well not taking shit from anyone. It might be just the shot in the arm this show needs! #winwin -
S09.E22: Reunion Part 1
DebbieM4 replied to KungFuBunny's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
Exactly. She was explaining her own situation. She was pretty clear about not feeling qualified to comment on Denise's. The bon bon comment was not directed at Denise. I thought that was pretty obvious too. Agreed. I didn't see any fun at all. Worst reunion so far that I've ever seen on any franchise in all my years of watching. I kept waiting for something to happen, something lively, or..........something. Boring women who think they're fascinating. Total snoozefest. Yes. We know her claws can come out. She's not shy about letting that show. But this wasn't that at all. -
S11.E18: Reunion Part 1
DebbieM4 replied to OnceSane's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
I disagree. Lu's show is basically the same thing over and over. Even if it slightly varies in content from time to time, it still involves sitting in seats and watching her perform. And of course applauding for her and having to act as though they're fans as she takes center stage yet again. I don't blame them at all for feeling "been there done that". Especially because she is not at all gracious about it and comes off as extremely entitled and superior. The other events are much more varied, much more social, and much more interesting, so I don't see it as a fair comparison at all. I loved that. It was very sweet and compassionate. -

I actually like Dorinda (most of the time), but yes, that long ponytail is awful! -
S09.E21: Hurricane Camille

That's what I saw too. It looked completely harmless to me. Mauricio is a friendly guy, and a "shmoozer". And if he was cheating, he wouldn't be so open about it at an Agency-related event with his wife in attendance. I kind of don't think he's cheating, but whether he is or not, I don't see how what we were shown last night in any way indicates that he's a cheater. -

I actually like Camille too. I met her a few years ago, and we corresponded for awhile after that (about books, mostly). And for the most part, I enjoy her on this show. I'm just trying at this point to wrap my head around what we saw last night! 😲 Do we know yet who is or isn't coming back next season? I would love it if Camille stayed. -

I can't stand Teddi. She constantly interrupts, and has an over-inflated opinion of herself. Beyond obnoxious! She's exactly the kind of person I do my best to avoid. -

I thought so too. They all looked as though only 6 months had passed. Except Erika, who looked as though we had last seen her many, many years ago. (And those years had not been especially kind.) Exactly! Absolutely! It's beyond my understanding how that all got turned around and she came out looking 100% innocent. -
Thank you so much, @17wheatthins! You made my day. So sweet!

I don’t agree that Joy is one-note now. What I meant is that throughout all of her time on this show (including currently) she has talked about a variety of topics and expressed opinions about all of them. They discuss politics more now than they used to, and Trump is in the news nearly every day, so of course she talks about him. She’s outraged by what’s going on, and she’s far from alone in feeling that way. But she actively jumps into conversations about many, many other topics, and has no problem contributing to those conversations in meaningful ways.

This has nothing to do with Joy's opinion of Trump, or Joy's opinion about anything. The outrage that so many viewers are feeling is because Meghan took all the time she wanted to express her thoughts, and then didn't allow Joy more than just a few words before cutting her off. Joy politely asked to finish her thought, and Meghan tossed out her shockingly rude and obnoxious comment, complete with childish hair toss. The topic being discussed was irrelevant. This is about the way people should treat each other, and how Meghan has no clue. How did Joy deserve a smackdown? It was her turn to speak, She had let Meghan have her say, and it was her turn. She never raised her voice, and she was polite. Condescending? I think that describes Meghan, not Joy. This wasn't about Meghan speaking up for herself. There was no need for her to defend herself, or to say anything at all. She interrupts constantly, is rude and disrespectful, and carries on as though she's a 3-year-old. Tantrums like that are ridiculous when thrown by a grown woman. And Meghan does it all the time. Joy was calm and respectful. Meghan was an overgrown brat - as usual. Except this time it was a whole new level. (Joy is not one-note, btw. She has discussed countless topics in all her years on this show, and shared numerous opinions about all kinds of things. She also knows how to have a conversation - how to joke, how to laugh, how to be serious, how to be informed, and how to be interesting. Clearly you don't like her, but she most certainly talks about many, many other topics beside Trump.) Absolutely. If Sunny did that, everyone would have been concerned about her because it would be so out-of-character. And for sure she would have apologized. I'm not a big Sunny fan, but I'm sure there's no way she would behave like that and not truly feel remorseful. (Not to mention embarrassed that she had behaved that way on national TV. I think the fact that Meghan never seems embarrassed by her own behavior says quite a lot about her.) I also agree that Whoopi was addressing Meghan, for the reasons you stated.

Meghan is FAR worse. I was no fan of Elisabeth, but I think Meghan is much, much worse in absolutely every way.

I've been noticing that for awhile, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention it. The color doesn't come anywhere close to matching her face, and I've always chalked it up to her face being overly made-up with the wrong color. I have no idea, but it's very obvious to me every time they show Sunny's hands, which is pretty often. And yes, re Abby. I don't care what she says about anything because she's just so vapid. But the Trump stuff is especially ridiculous. Yes, he's daddy's boss. And not only that, but she is not the kind of person who would ever stand her ground and speak her actual mind. She's not informed enough, and I think she knows that. Most of the time when she speaks, it's like she's just spinning her wheels.

I didn't assume that Nicky and Rebecca were a couple, but I saw it as a possibility. The big reveal, to me, was that Nicky had come back into their lives. So the way I see it is that he & Rebecca simply may have become close, with the starting point being their shared love of Jack and desire to have the other fill in missing pieces about his life. Maybe that led to a romantic relationship, maybe they just became good friends. Or maybe Nicky simply became close to Kevin, possibly was living there, and so was in Rebecca's room at that moment to keep an eye on her since Kevin had to go out. So many possibilities! I actually thought this episode was kind of a mess, jumping all over the place, with several eye-roll-inducing moments. But I liked that we saw Nicky there at the very end because that surprised me. And surprising me used to be what this show did best. It will be interesting to see how the Nicky aspect actually plays out. 🙂

It's approx. 5 hours, probably a little more. And that's if traffic is okay. Lots of people fly - I think the flight is under an hour.

Exactly. My sister is a really good aunt to all of her nieces and nephews, including my kids. But she never wanted children of her own, and never had them. She's good as an aunt, but shouldn't be a mother because she chooses not to be one. Being good with kids and having kids of your own is not the same thing at all. And yes, Zoe was very, very clear about it. Kevin should have believed her, and respected her decision. I thought I was the only one who isn't crazy about him. I don't want to punch him (!), but I've never thought he was sexy or appealing on any level.

I don't think anyone here has said there's anything wrong with note-taking. I always take notes when I speak to doctors. I have a little notebook that comes with me to appointments, and if I find myself in an emergency situation, I grab paper from wherever I can get it. The problem with Rebecca, IMO, was that her note-taking was disruptive. As were other things that she did. In fact, if she had simply listened and taken notes, it would have been much better for everyone. Yes, they might see it that way and it may turn out to be that way. But moving can be a big deal to kids no matter their age. It's not just about staying in the same high school. Younger kids have to make a lot of adjustments too. They'll be leaving the only house they've ever known, their school, neighborhood, friends, and they'll have to start all over with the extra-curricular activities that they enjoyed (which may or may not be offered in their new location), etc. And there's a BIG difference between Alpine, NJ and Philly. Their day-to-day lives will be altered dramatically. My best friend moved away when we were in elementary school, and it was devastating. In retrospect, she didn't move that far away, but since neither of us drove, it might as well have been on the moon. Of course now there's email, Facetime, social media, etc, but all of that is not the same as having a best friend right across the street. Friendships are really important to kids. This is not to say that the family shouldn't move. I'm just surprised that there wasn't even a throwaway line about the kids when Randall & Beth decided to do it. It was as though they didn't even have children. I'm sure they feel the girls will adjust and that this is the best solution, but I wish it hadn't been glossed over so easily.

That's how I saw it too. Rebecca was too intrusive, and asking the doctor to wait until she grabbed her notepad, taking up Kate's time to ask her own questions, etc. showed a lot of insensitivity to Kate and the situation. She should have quietly taken notes and let Kate have her time with the doctor. It would have been far better to be a calming emotional support rather than darting around and putting herself front and center. All that crazy energy wasn't helpful to Kate. Yes, kids in foster care very well may be quite familiar with the word "stipend". JudyObscure, I can so relate to this! I had a very overly-involved MIL too. She had a lot of love in her heart and was always well-intentioned, but she was never willing to step back and let us find our own way. You articulated so well exactly how it was for me too. I could write pages and pages about this, but will refrain. 🙂 I can understand why Rebecca behaved the way she did. And her motives were certainly good. But in that situation, she should have put her daughter's needs above her own. Protecting Kate's sanity should have been a higher priority than protecting her own. So I even more completely understand why Kate was annoyed, and IMO she had every right to be. It's forgivable, of course. But I rarely side with Kate, and I was with her on this one.

I think we were supposed to find that cute, but I hated all of it. Why not order a pizza? Or make something simple? It drives me crazy when TV dads are depicted as bumbling fools who are incapable of doing even the most simple things. He's always been depicted as being pretty hands-on, and it's not as though he suddenly woke up and had 3 children. It's also not as though he was a single guy who had 3 kids dumped on him without warning. Even in that case, order a damn pizza! Or ask the kids what they like before making a stupid sandwich that seems like something a toddler would concoct. And speaking of age, the kids were certainly old enough to put together some kind of dinner all by themselves. They didn't have to rely on a father who all of a sudden had turned into Bumbling Old Dad. It was all very unrealistic to me. Me too. I was sure that was where they were going. I totally agree. And Jack showed horrible parenting skills. He completely fed into their fears about Rebecca rather than calmly explaining that she had a minor accident, needed to rest, and would be home the next day. Showing up at the hospital in the middle of the night (all 4 of them), was the wrong thing to do. Not only does the hospital have rules, but Rebecca needed to sleep, and it was inconsiderate to other patients. All he taught those kids is that they're special, they get to have whatever they want, and rules don't apply to them. They certainly were acting much younger than their age, and he treated them as though they were much younger too. But whatever their age, "We need to let Mom rest" should have been the end of any conversation about seeing her right away, Not only was that a better way to parent, it was also the truth. I also really disliked it (and thanks for letting me vent!) when he was giving his long speech to the nurse and said something about the kids not being anything without their Mom. I don't remember the exact words, but he said it right in front of the kids. I worked in mental health for many years, and found that really disturbing. A lot of what we saw Jack do in this episode confirms the origin of the entitlement that lives on in Randall, Kevin, and Kate.

I thought so too. I really wanted her to shut up and back off. Taking notes is fine (I take notes all the time), but Kate is the mother of the baby, not Rebecca. Rebecca should have been more tuned in to her own daughter - The look on Kate's face was pretty obvious, and yet Rebecca kept on babbling, not only when the doctor was there but also about finding a place to live. She meant well, but she was completely oblivious to how Kate was feeling and responding at a very difficult time. I would have been super-annoyed too. I do like that they talked it out later. I'm not a fan of flash-forwards for exactly that reason. Maybe quick little ones from time to time, but this one was much too much. I don't need to see a show in present time, the past, AND the future. It's fine to leave us wondering how they got from here to there, but I would really prefer that in small doses.
