  1. If they have a car that can get them anywhere in the country in one day or less, surely she can provide them with whatever clothes they need, whenever they need them (as well as hairpins, pennies, machetes, and anything else.) This is Baby, after all! 😀
  2. Just rereading some of the earlier posts and came across this. I'd forgotten John's storage unit. But having watched Storage Wars for quite a few years, can you imagine if his unit gets auctioned off for nonpayment, and what the buyer would think of all the stuff in there? ...not to mention, opening all the curse boxes and letting them loose. Sounds like an idea for a crossover fanfic. 😀
  3. As one who has always been extremely neurotic, insecure and with massive trust issues, I wanted to identify with and/or like Amelia, but nope. Nothing likeable at all there, and her switch from bitchy to True Love was completely out of the blue, with no buildup or explanation. She was totally self-absorbed and convinced that everyone should take care of her, just because.
  4. If that's the case, it could explain the reason for the long delay in filing the lawsuit, since it sometimes takes a while for long-term disabilities to be recognized (the accident took place in August 2022, and the suit wasn't filed till more than a year later). I had been wondering at the timing. None of the articles I read (or the actual complaint) said anything specific about serious or long-term injuries; he is requesting actual and punitive damages for physical injuries, pain and emotional distress. I'm not commenting on the validity of the lawsuit; I'm sad that being accused of negligence and ignoring safety rules might be particularly painful for Jensen after the Rust investigation.
  5. This is actually about The Winchesters, but it does involve Jensen, so I hope it's all right to post here. https://www.cinemablend.com/television/winchesters-may-have-been-canceled-show-getting-sued-over-on-set-incident Warner Bros., the CW and Jensen as EP are being sued by a crew member who was struck by lightning on the set of The Winchesters, even though it was many months ago. Nothing against the crew member who was obviously traumatized at the very least (nothing was said about serious or long-lasting injuries), but I wonder at the timing. Maybe he wasn't going to sue (or was compensated at the time), but with the ongoing strike and loss of income, he needs money now? If the idea is to bring attention to safety on set, wouldn't he have spoken up before now? Especially if he's "seeking punitive damages." *sigh*
  6. Sorry to beat this dead horse one more time, but today I read Kripke's interview in Deadline ( https://deadline.com/2023/08/supernatural-eric-kripke-interview-picket-line-writers-strike-residuals-writers-room-1235533157/ ) and it brought up (or back) some thoughts about what went wrong with Supernatural (IMO, of course): Kripke mentioned the need for a "large writer's room" to make a show successful. In particular, he said: "Any good showrunner is only as good as their staff, and only as good as they’re willing to listen and be challenged. I always give the same speech for every show, which is, ‘Now that we’re inside this room, there are no labels or levels. We’re all trying to figure this out. There’s only one asshole in the room, and that’s me. And no one in this room is allowed to say no, except me. So let’s just start talking. And if you think I’m wrong in saying no, you have to get in my face and tell me.’ That’s how good shows get made…the minute people stop saying no to you, your sh*t is terrible. Every filmmaker who got powerful enough that they stopped saying no just starts making garbage. So I think it’s really important to have big staffs [and] really diverse staff." [emphasis mine] So, just out of curiosity, I looked back at the SPN writers over the years. Aside from the first season, when they were still figuring things out, there were 8 or 9 writers who pretty much stayed for most of years 1-10. Aside from an occasional one-off episode or someone with story credit only, there were no more than two or so new writers per season, all of whom fit nicely with the others and also stayed for years. Stories and characters (and lore!) stayed consistent because the writers knew what and who they were writing. But in season 12, when Dabb took over, he began with a *whole new crew of writers.* The only carryovers from the 11 previous years were himself, Berens, and Buck-Lemming (those most likely to follow his lead without question). It seems to me that shows he had his own vision and chose new writers who wouldn't question or challenge it. It might also be why the new writers didn't seem to have a "bible" to let them know what lore had been established previously. It just didn't matter any more in Dabb's world. I know this is nothing new and earth-shattering, but it somehow hadn't dawned on me that there were literally *none* of the original (or even the good later) writers in on the Dabb seasons. Kripke's comments on the need for writer collaboration brought back the bitterness that Dabb's vision/version of SPN had nothing whatsoever to do with the previous 11 years of lore, stories and character development. //rant off// Bitterness remains. ETA: Apologies again. My only excuse is that it's a holiday, it's been too hot to go outside for days and I've had way too much time on my hands. 😀
  7. That's why I thought investment property, not that they would live there at the same time that it was being used as an inn. I know the previous owner bought it to save it from being torn down and the land turned into condos, so it seems they want to save the house itself, whether for themselves or to be able to use it as something the exclusive neighbors/neighborhood wouldn't mind, not just a run-of-the-mill b&b.
  8. It does seem awfully large for a family of 5 (even with live-in help and family visiting.) It does seem more like an investment property. Maybe an exclusive country inn? Connecticut on the Sound would seem perfect for that, and having the address listed would be a benefit, not a problem. Just a thought.
  9. More info about the Ackles' new house (I don't know why I seem to be obsessed with it).😃 It has nine bedrooms and 15!!!! baths. The article appeared in the Connecticut Post (and includes the address, which is probably not a good thing, though it's in the public record, and I'm sure there aren't many other mansions in the area that fit the description anyway): https://www.ctpost.com/realestate/article/sasco-hill-road-southport-ct-mansion-sold-18267222.php "Jensen Ackles, his wife Danneel Ackles and their Stone Park Trust Agreement purchased the historic Gold Coast mansion at 1143 Sasco Hill Road in Southport in July for $9.375 million, according to mortgage and warranty deeds that are publicly available for viewing by the town of Fairfield. The property had previously been on the market for $14 million." ... "The Elizabethan Renaissance-style mansion sits on 3 acres of land and has more than 30 rooms across four stories and more than 19,000 square feet. It has nine bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. An elevator transports residents between levels from the basement — with a safe room, large recreation area, storage rooms and halls — to the third floor and its numerous bedrooms, gym, game room, study and more. The grand entrance on the first floor leads to a library, movie theater, wine-tasting room, grand ballroom and more."
  10. On a purely personal note (as one of my least favorite things to do): that's an *awful* lot of windows to clean!
  11. Nine and half million dollars is a lot to pay for a second--or third--home. And it's just been completely renovated (according to the story) so it doesn't need fixing up, except to put those personal, "quirky" touches for themselves. I'd think a summer home away from Austin heat would be a good idea. It's also just a few hour's drive from JDM's home in NY, if they want to visit. Or maybe they want a break from all that family and will just visit Austin. ☺️ The fact that it was bought by a trust makes me wonder. Maybe they want something permanent/tangible for the kids' future, even if they don't intend to live there right now. Trusts are (mostly) designed to preserve assets and keep them out of probate. I'd think, after Covid and especially the Rust accident (Jensen himself pointed out that the next scene after the accident would have been a shootout between himself and Baldwin--using the fatal gun) that might have shaken them into thinking more about mortality and the future, especially considering how often they fly around the world to cons and meetings. I don't think Jensen has much to add. If you watched his interview with the Santa Fe police, he didn't say much about Hannah Gutierrez or her handling of the guns. In fact, he seemed mostly concerned with how the live ammo got on the set, and said he had no idea how that might have happened. Having said that, I think he was a bit critical about the laxness on the set in general, and I wonder if that was the reason he was replaced--if Alec Baldwin decided he wasn't being supportive enough. It seems odd to be completely replaced so late in the shooting, and I haven't heard anything about any "scheduling conflict" during those last few shooting days. Just a thought.
  12. I assume once they get their own furnishings and personal touches in it'll be quirky enough. And they can have their own bowling alley down that long corridor in the last picture. 😀
  13. Articles say a "trust tied to" Jensen bought the house. It was reported in the WSJ here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-once-abandoned-connecticut-home-sells-for-9-375-million-4c4794ba I couldn’t read the whole article because I don’t have a subscription, but there was another article (with pictures of the property) here: https://tvserieswelove.com/supernatural-star-jensen-ackles-buys-once-abandoned-connecticut-mansion-photos/
  14. I wish Misha wouldn't troll his fans, even just to make a point. Personally, I think Cas is "gender blind"...that is, he loves the person (or being), and is happy to accommodate whatever gender/form/preferences they may have.
  15. Just for the heck of it. Buzzfeed had this article today: 24 TV And Movie Roles That Were So Perfectly Portrayed By An Actor, Literally No One Else Could Have Done It Every so often while watching a movie or a TV show, you come across a performance that is so pitch-perfect, you're convinced no other actor on Earth would have been able to play the role. Several come to mind for me immediately, and I wanted to know what the BuzzFeed Community thought. So, I recently asked them to share the roles they thought fit this criterion, and they are honestly so correct. And, of course, one of the ones listed was: 20."Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester in Supernatural. No one else could have brought such a believable complexity to that character." I always love when others recognize greatness! ETA: I also LOVE the term "believable complexity." Definitely Dean Winchester!
  16. That wasn't necessarily emotions; that was SS being coldly pragmatic. He didn't do anything out of anger, or any emotion at all; just what he believed needed to be done to achieve his goal (whether his goal was self-preservation or hunting doesn't really matter in this context. In his mind, it was logical.) My problem with the entire episode was that they were showing Sam swinging so wildly between cold SS and emo, self-flagellating Sam with his soul back. That Sam was acting entirely on emotions, not listening to Dean or any logic (even to wait to find out what was going on before jumping headfirst into the middle--really, just what he always accuses Dean of doing.) I kept wanting to smack him, especially when he promised Dean to wait and then immediately took off to "make things right" in his own mind. And winds up needing to be rescued, and endangering himself and others just because he was so sure he "had" to do things his way and that Dean was wrong. That was putting his own need to make amends before actually doing things the right way to finish the hunt, and IMO puts him back to season 2 Sam who always thought he knew the *only* right way. Maybe that was deliberate on the part of the writers--to compare SS with "ensouled" Sam, and that the new/old Sam was overcompensating for his soulless self, but it was so OTT that it just annoyed me. YMMV.
  17. I don't think that photo was from the last day of shooting. Isn't that Halyna Hutchins standing in the second row behind Baldwin?
  18. Or it could also be code for "I don't like what you said about the lack of weapons security or training." Jensen was pretty clear about his feelings on that. I know Jensen said he only had a few days of filming left, but if those scenes could be filled in by a body (or stunt) double, why hire a known actor to fill in? OTOH, since filming finished on time, they really didn't have the time to reshoot all of Jensen's scenes. IMDB still shows Jensen listed, and no mention of Josh Hopkins, but Brady Noon isn't mentioned at all, so I assume his role was redone. (Or maybe the majority of his part hadn't been filmed yet by the time of the shutdown?) I'm confused.
  19. Huh. I guess I didn't read all the way to the bottom of the article. Sorry. It was more of a throwaway line than any big news. I still haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else.
  20. I don't see anything online about Jensen being replaced. Variety noted: Patrick Scott McDermott has also been added to the cast, taking over for Brady Noon, who was not available to complete filming due to other commitments. Filming ended on 5/15, with nothing else noted by anyone. THR article doesn't seem to mention Jensen either, and I can't see anything anywhere about Josh Hopkins. Maybe Fangasm got things mixed up? Or everyone is keeping it secret....
  21. They do have to match all scenes previously shot. The news reported: "The production will continue to utilize union crew members and will bar any use of working weapons and any form of ammunition. Live ammunition is -- and always was -- prohibited on set," Melina Spadone, an attorney for Rust Movie Productions, said in a statement. I'm not sure if "working weapons" just means they can't fire but are still real guns. I'd still check everything 10 or 12 times before letting someone point anything that even looks like a weapon at me.
  22. If he's going to finish the shoot, the next scene was supposed to be a shootout with his character and Baldwin's. Even though I'm sure they're going to be super, SUPER paranoid and careful, I'd still want him to check all the other guns, not just his own, especially ones that are going to be pointed at him.
  23. A looong time ago, but I just came across this description of a Twilight Zone episode from 1961: 75. Long Distance Call - IMDb score: 7.7 - Air date: March 31, 1961 - Season 2, episode 22 When a boy's grandmother dies right after giving him a toy phone as a present, he is able to communicate with her in the afterlife. She decides she doesn't want to be dead alone, and tries to get the boy to join her. He attempts to kill himself. This is Billy Mumy's first of three appearances during the show's original run. I actually love the way SPN recycles/repurposes and updates old stories to fit the SPN universe. I just wish (sometimes) they'd acknowledge the originals (even as "homage").
  24. There are enough rabid fans on here, and we love to point out that Dean saying he'd never seen the Grand Canyon was back in season 2 (2.09, Croatoan) and Sam's story about going down the canyon on a farty donkey was in season 8! 😀 (BTW, that one was written by Ben Edlund, who *was* a fan, and admitted that he made a mistake.) SuperWiki is the best show bible and available to all, if the writers only look at it. But yes, a good showrunner should keep track, unless they're bound and determined to rewrite the whole story. *sigh*
