Or it might have been translation to Bruce not picking up someone until the discipline was made clear. The thing is I don't know if AB is in the clear either He might, but I hardly think AB is going to treat both Brady & Arians like crap. BTW, Gronk is a teammate this time (which wasn't the case last year). I don't know what Rob would do if AB doesn't get his numbers when Tampa is trying to win games. Arians would have regretted a decision not to obtain Brady more than a decision to acquire Antonio Brown. The good news despite everything is that Bruce has dealt with him before, unlike a Pete Carroll or A Jon Gruden

Can't see the Majors dumping Manfred. The guys like an insect that you kill but them you lose more time killing an insect half a day later, then you repeat that process until further notice I'm still sticking with Dodgers in 5, but man, Morton has been dealing this postseason. Tampa could take it tonight, LA tomorrow, but personally I don't think I could deal with someone winning both Games 3-4, and the loser winning Game 5 to force a Game 6

The Browns are like the Pirates when you link them to the Steelers and Cardinals, respectively. Both bottom feeders can't ever pass their rivals, and when they've come close, their rivals have knocked them out (2002 & 2007 for the Steelers, 2013 & 2015 with St. Louis). Despite some close calls with the Buccos, I think Cleveland will overtake Pittsburgh in football before Pittsburgh passes St. Louis in baseball. Not just once, but several times. Not sure Baker will be the guy to do it, but Case + a nice defense, offensive weapons including a running game could be a problem for most of the AFC down the road. Meanwhile, AB and Tom back together might turn momentum from Seattle to Tampa. I think Russell could win the MVP, but someone might steal it from him. Probably not Lamar, and maybe not Mahomes. But it could be Brady after all. Nice story!

Maverick, Barker made several appearances on TPIR since his departure. Typically, if not each show he showed up on, the show used the models that were on the staff when Bob was still hosting. So you'd see Rachel & Gwendolyn on those shows instead of Amber and Manuela. So the reasoning was due to that more than Bob's stance on male models, which didn't start until Season 40. Back to the topic: speaking of today, or current times, the show will be back sooner than you think. Definitely by November 16, the start of Season 49 Several Primetime Episodes Scheduled To Air Over The Next Couple Of Months & A Week TPIR Resuming With First Run Episodes On The Third Monday In November

Thank you, merylinkid. The second I saw your post I knew that it wasn't in the mid-90s but thought you meant that they lost at home pre-merger. Buffalo didn't lose to Miami; they lost at Three Rivers Stadium to the Steelers. I remember this because that was the game Bruce Smith missed thanks to the flu. Pittsburgh assumed they could win either way but was so much more confident that Smith was inactive. The Bills defeated the Dolphins at home, but lost on the road to cold-weather Pittsburgh in '95. Forgot that Jacksonville won in Orchard Park (though I never forgot the typical upset they created at Denver's expense at Mile High a year before the Broncos won it all as a wild-card team, the first ever)

Green Bay has been defeated several times over the past 13 years in their place. So I probably won't feel bad for them if they lost out on hosting a playoff game. I might have to check, but I don't think Buffalo has suffered defeat at home prior to when they stopped winning playoff games or hosting playoff games. I might feel bad for the Bills, but OTOH, they never faced the Ravens during their runs from long ago. Baltimore might be the only team that would be able to beat them at New Era in their current form. I don't think COVID is permanent, wouldn't bet on it. Things may somewhat slowly trend toward the old normal. Might be the old normal mixed with the new normal. Whatever happens, COVID isn't going anywhere this year. I think the bubble will work for the postseason. I'll be honest: I'll feel bad if Dallas loses out on hosting at AT&T. Not because it'll suck for the Cowboys, but mainly because the NFL added an extra team in the NFC. Imagine the discussions if certain teams win or lose in January, especially a 5-11 division winner beating at least one team with at least twice as many wins. The scariest thing is that with the new playoff format, Dallas (or whomever win the NFC East) could possibly host all three weeks of their postseason preceding the Super Bowl
-
It's really 50/50. The NFC East probably will get pummeled, but if there are any examples of why not, just ask the 2008 Colts, 2010 Saints, and most especially, the 2011 Steelers Buffalo might actually shut out either Baltimore or Pittsburgh. Heck, even Vegas since they might be in the mix. The Colts might still catch Tennessee, so the runner up might have to go to Buffalo. January football in Buffalo is a nightmare. Of course, I'll never rule out New England, who could still win the AFC East, or if they don't, finish in 5th in the AFC. They would be the only team the Bills might not want to see at Orchard Park, with or without Brady
-
Maybe because Herbert is new, and Rivers left LA to go to Indianapolis. I guess James and Hedman were unavailable
-
I don't mind expanded playoffs. I'm okay with what they've done (though a best of 3 at the site of the best non-division winner throughout wild-card), but I'm okay with expanded playoffs. A runner on 2 is stupid. I'd prefer a home-run derby for a tiebreaker over that dumb advantage anyday!
-
Nah....Cowboys / Dolphins Superbowl sounds right. It's your Third Place matchup! Dallas is in first place, AFC East isn't a runaway. Anything can happen in the postseason; all you have to do is make it!

Here's one that caught me by surprise this morning (save for his age amongst other things): Mike "Doc" Emrick To Retire From Broadcasting

Maybe there will be an asterisk if Tampa or L.A. wins; maybe not. I think if you're the former, you'd put an asterisk on most other champions given the lack of a salary cap / the inconsistency between each teams payroll. Tampa and LA probably could both care less. Similar to how one plays who's on your schedule, you can only play the season that's in front of you
-
Possibly. Personally, the main reason it sucks is due to the fact that Lawrence would be in the AFC, which I feared after the Pats dominance (both in the AFC & in the NFC whenever possible), during the current Mahomes era, and well before Burrow & before Lamar progressed throughout the season. Though I did mention this while Brady was still with New England with a possibility of that for several more years. Despite that, I would've been surprised if he had ended up in the NFC. Whenever there's a decent QB on deck, there are more AFC teams that would aggressively punt until the following season in order to obtain that top pick. It would be interesting to know how Trevor will handle it, because he'd be better off pursuing a career outside of football than to wreck his life thanks to being a part of the Jets organization

Oh I see. Makes sense; thank you

Buck called two games on the same day not too long ago. I think the "magnitude" of the game had something to do with why Buck was on the call for it. Following the conclusion of it, I guess Buck would rather have called the NLCS. Though it makes me wonder why the NLCS didn't start last Sunday and the ALCS swapping to start on Monday! But I think Joe calls Bucs/Packers even if Thom Brenneman hadn't been kicked out. Fortunately, TPTB and/or whomever were smart enough to avoid a similar conflict with Nantz as it relates to the games scheduled to be played on Week 10

On the original version of Card Sharks (the actual original version, not the classic revival from the 80s), during the bonus round (Money Cards), someone actually had four consecutive cards of the same value. I think it was a mid card, so the contestant survived. Cards off the same value counted against the player in the 70s, whereas in the 80s it was a push. No win, no loss, but no do-overs either. On that note, cards of the same value would be the Card Sharks equivalent of a "Lose A Turn" that WoF has. While you'd be bailed out (or robbed from a big win with an ace, deuce or King) in the end game, not so much in the main game. Unless McHale, Mullen, and company changed the rules, that would be the case in the current version. It sucks; though I don't think I would say "Another six" as opposed to "higher-lower" in the game. I've never seen anyone do it (definitely can't recall it). I actually asked a long time ago about that; not that anyone would do it on television, it isn't allowed I was told. I should be a re-do; that I agree. Maybe for the final run to determine a champion, but not before that
-
Benched Brady, too? I just flipped to the game from the highlights on the NFL network. Can the Jets get anyone to coach this year? Maybe with a fresh start next year... Meh. I would have been more shocked if Green Bay kept Aaron in the game. Same with Tom. The New York Jets are going to be the franchise that results in an NFL lottery, I think. As much as I rip on winless teams, at least Cleveland & Detroit had respect for the game and had a shot on several occasions
-
I though both Baltimore and Tennessee would've won by halftime. I guess they were both looking ahead to Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, I guess you'd have to bet on Tampa or Green Bay to best produce a rooting interest between one or the other (Brady vs Rodgers)
-
As a result, I wouldn't bet on Manfred sending the Rays anything. It will be interesting to see the rooting percentage between the NLCS winner and the team "that saved the sport" but since Houston is out, people are happy but then several would go back to not watching Baseball knowing that Houston is gone. Maybe I didn't hear it or it didn't happen due to limited gatherings, but the champagne bottle from the 2004 Yankees has been popped

Man, Cash may have been 24 hours from being fired, but fortunately Tampa survives!

I heard that Joe Davis was calling Game 7 as well. No way Buck calls NFL football over a Game 7 unless said NFL game including massive stars. For example, Brady and Tampa hosting Rodgers and Green Bay. I think in a regular year, FOX and the NFL wouldn't put a game featuring big stars opposite a Game 7, unless it was close enough that Buck could call both. That, or CBS would get the nod. Davis is definitely good. Not sure how he'll do on Sunday; this is somewhat similar to Nantz and College Hoops on CBS, IMO
-
And? There will be another Game 7! Wonder how Buck is feeling since Atlanta's inability to close out forces him to miss Bucs/Packers. Though I have no idea whether Joe can remotely call both Green Bay AND Tampa Bay before Game Seven with Atlanta & Los Angeles. Looks like Major League Baseball might be scripted too! I was rooting for a great series. I think painful might not be the best term. It was a bigger deal in 2004 due to the participants. It's still a big deal with Houston and Tampa, but the Rays are inferior as a small market to the Astros. Sure they might be the villains, but outside of some light hate toward Tampa, the period in the first half of the 2000s was a treat. Finally, the Rays are playing at a neutral site, so ripping on them beyond the end of doing so wouldn't be fair. Of course, it wouldn't be my fault if you lose a series despite losing a series clinching game that would've results in a series sweep with a victory
-
I think Tampa is done as well. I actually concluded that before Game 6. They did rally, though it really wasn't a big deal. I was actually surprised that they were fortunate enough to win Game 3, while unlucky in Game 4; losing Game 5 was very painful since the line up & starters were ones in which the Rays probably wouldn't be able to score while starting pitching was unable to last long. Houston's bullpen is not bad, but I cannot say the same for Tampa. In my opinion, this pales in comparison to the 2004 Yankees. Unlike New York, the Rays are a small market team where a postseason run is a nice bonus. Furthermore, they're playing 7 games in 7 days. That being said, there's no excuse to blow a series lead. The Astros are playing 7 games in 7 days as well. The 2004 collapse was a lot more painful based on the participants; at the same time it might have been a nice treat for the other half! To be fair to Lantern, if a fan of Illinois State took to Twitter to disrespect Loyola's 2018 Final Four run, it wouldn't go well for that individual. I personally think I'd sleep a lot better without Atlanta in the fall classic. On the other hand, I'd take it since I don't need to see LA/Houston part 2
-
Maybe Tampa can turn it around, but maybe the won't, which would suck because if Houston can come back down 3-0, then L.A. should come back down 3-1. Or the Dodgers will, only to blow it in the 9th. At this rate, the sports world is on pace for the 2023 Houston Texans, on a 19 (plus) game winning streak, to lose to 2023 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LVIII
