IMO, if Brooklyn loses Game 3, it would be in their best interest to shut Simmons down until 2022-2023

I'm not a fan of that either. However, nothing close to anything I'm going to sleep over. No sense on being super pissed about something that was collectively bargained, and then there's the part where people should strive to win in regulation more often than not. I agree that it and 7 innings doubles was little league nonsense, but I also would prefer for a game to last 2:45 and not 3:15 - 4 or 5 hours

And on a related note, corn is yellow (more often than not), and grape is purple (but sometimes green like money). While I thought they've boot him much, much earlier, nothing positive changes if Westbrook is still playing for Los Angeles. That, and getting younger helps

  6. Earlier in the year, Scottie Scheffler, who wasn't even 10 months removed from being born after Tiger Woods first win, broke the latter's record for fastest to World No. 1 following one's first PGA win. Now he joins his LA championship buddies Kershaw & Stafford as a true winner in a big, prestigious sporting event! ETA: The 2022 Masters Champion had the cushion to end on a random double. I don't need to be there to know that the nerves & emotion can get to you anytime & anywhere at Augusta
  7. Scheffler still leads after three rounds at Augusta (-9). Despite shooting under par to claim the 54-hole lead, Scottie's margin has decreased from a five-shot lead to a 3-shot lead. That came courtesy of Cameron Smith's fairly decent day. Scheffler is the World's Number One with some awesome playing as of late, but TPC winner Cameron Smith, also in the Top Ten, has been doing well. Probably the only person I'd like to see win if it doesn't work out for Scottie. Other than IM, Smith may be the only person that can catch him, and I doubt it'll be too difficult

Such terrible news about Haskins. A young man who had his troubles, had a chance to turn things around, dealt with adversity & was dealing with it up until the end. Whatever happened with his team, the chance at real life would've been there, but it's over, and that's a shame.
  9. For the Tigers fans: The good news is that he extended his Masters Weekend streak to 22-0 as a pro. But that's it. The bad news is related to pretty good news for Scheffler fans
  10. Huh. Over the past year I was hearing that TW was lucky to be alive, let alone lose his leg. It is a whole new level when he is playing, ITA. However, I've been able to watch a ton of golf without him. Obviously the Masters is getting people tuning in no matter what. To a lesser degree, the Majors. Then TPC and some other events. It's not difficult trying to tune in to see someone crush it, especially if and when you know that person isn't going to be the "next G.O.A.T."
  11. I'm happy he's back as well. I don't know (or think) he'll make it to the weekend, and that's due to what he went through over the past year. I'll be honest, I don't know what I'll say if he wins this year (or even next year), but if he makes it to Saturday, that is a big deal. For the most part; it's been basically over a quarter century since he missed the weekend. Other years included 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2021. Can't make Saturday without playing. Regardless of what happens, it should be a great Masters. Weather-wise, it may not be great early, but by the weekend, it'll be nice. No one will miss Lefty. The fact is (love him or hate him) you can compare what Nadal around the Australian to this event. The Masters was around before Lefty and everyone else, and in the aftermath of when Lefty and everyone else departs, there will be action and play at Augusta

Yeah, that bad play stepping out of bounds would raise some eyebrows, when it was likely they were hitting a 2 possession mark. FWIW, a live bet on the moneyline for Kansas at the half would've been a better bet. Well, a better payout. BTW, I forgot to say last week that there was no part of the history of the universe where I was betting $1700 on anyone to run the table. Maybe $10, but not a fortune on a Cinderella. Despite the run, glad that I didn't feel too bad when North Carolina ended things! I wasn't too worried about Kansas at the half, as their margin of victory was bigger than their deficit. Wasn't a lock at all, but there was fair optimism. After all, UNC rolled to build that lead, Kansas could do the same!

Good to know. Thanks. Total class move by Kansas, especially when either team could win at that point through the end. Hats off for the kid playing hurt though. You get that dedication for the Super Bowl whereas in a regular game you'd be on IR or whatever. This game was the biggest of all for college hoops, and while NIL is a thing, it's still collegiate action, not professional. Get well, Bacot!

That might have been an official timeout, but I didn't see the Kansas TO deduction either. It was 5 on 4 since they moved away from the half of the court where Bacot went down. Then when he hopped into the area of play, they had to stop play per protocol. Sucked to be hurt in the biggest game in college hoops. Still, what a game!

Even though I made predictions (albeit a prediction hedge a.k.a. going against my bracket), I'm picking Kansas as well. I mean, why not since my bracket finally busted on Saturday! I actually admire both teams, more UNC than Kansas, but if I'm wrong, then great history gets made. Nonetheless, barring a surprise the level of Super Bowl 48 or even last year's Tournament Final, it'll be a great game to watch with no stress over needing someone to win in order to win a bracket pool. Meh, I think it's not the worst thing. An 8:50 tip would've been great, especially since it's on TBS and no need to further preempt CBS Monday programming. Gotta respect Los Angeles though! Plus, it's easier to be okay with the late start since I've recently started doing what I've done after the Super Bowl. In other words, I've taken the Tuesday after the National Championship off. With games lasting over 2 hours + One Shining Moment and then postgame coverage (Inside The Final Four + maybe (SC with SVP)), the need to recover is there. I guess Greg and Seth bolted early this year. Whenever TBS has the final weekend, they're at least there for a segment or two, a minute in halftime, and then bail before the start of the second half

Just a reminder that tonight's National Championship is on TBS, and not CBS. Tip time is still scheduled for 9:20 PM EST. Kansas is favored by 4 over North Carolina. The over/under is 153. That is subject to change as that was the line & O/U upon the conclusion of the National Semi-Finals. The line & totals come to you courtesy of FanDuel. Honestly, I don't think Nantz meant any true disrespect to Hill. Sure it was unnecessary, but FWIW, people often poke or have fun with Jim's "Hello Friends" catchphrase. While it's something he's added and had to open his shows over the past 2 decades, it's him paying tribute to his father. What's probably different is most people are not aware of his dad's battle and struggle with alzheimer's that ended toward the end of the 2000s, whereas Nantz is clearly aware of Grant's injury history. All three of those guys who joke around from time to time are classy overall, but yeah, Grant was the "most well-behaved" during the Final Four. FYI: The ratings & viewership are likely to fall under the 2019 totals; this is the first TBS Tournament Final since the end the last decade. It probably might trail last year to be honest. It'll be interesting to see what the totals are following Monday's game; while a lot of people might link that to a Coach K and Duke free National Championship Game, several will come up with that conclusion before looking or remembering what the 2016 & 2018 totals were

Ditto. I guess Grant is at peace with it, but it sucks since he was destined to become one of the best players ever. At least IMHO. Glad he still got into the HOF

And? Then you have Raft, saying, "A little shot. It's not even the Oscars." That was in reference to a UNC player getting hit in the face. Such a blessing to have a Day One fellow in Bill Raferty. Clark Kellogg, total class, doesn't ever say that. Billy Packer might not have the class, but he wouldn't have done it either. Just typical stuff from the Coach whenever possible

That would be pretty nice. The landmark 5-year anniversary of both winning. However, and TBH, I would not lose any sleep if there's a 2016 repeat of that year's events (UCONN winning yet another title + UNC tying it with seconds left but they're unable to carry that tie into overtime after the clock expires) Both the men's and women's title games should (or could) be great. I think South Carolina will end a historic streak, but in terms of rooting interest, I'm more toward Connecticut. However, I don't have a clear favorite. Ditto with Kansas & North Carolina. Either team winning would be great for me. Kansas has been great, but they're sorta due for another championship. Naturally, in the only year of the Top Seed exclusive Final Four, they took care of the Tar Heels without struggle, before needing extra time to beat Cal and Memphis, but after escaping "Cinderella" Davidson + Steph. Coach Cal got his revenge, and I can see UNC doing the same. Plus, like that 2007-2008 Jayhawks team, North Carolina knocked off a streaking "Cinderella" tough I think they definitely would have topped Coach Cal and Kentucky, which sorta should've been that Regional final matchup

I didn't get around to posting about wanting a good game. I don't have any favorites between North Carolina & Duke. I tend to lean UNC more than Duke; the former had the real GOAT, and the other had the best coach in this era, one that exceeded expectations more than anyone else. Plus, I had family that went to Duke. Ditto North Carolina, but more distant & in-laws etc. Tonight's game is the first time in a long time, probably ever, that I considered forgoing the art of filling out a bracket and/or picking the games. The reason why I might not predict for the sake of it is that it can be so much fun watching a game for the glory, with nothing on the line. My mention of a prediction hedge was basically how I did a rare switch from an earlier prediction. I went with Kansas and UNC in the Tournament Final within the opportunity of picking games the day of (or before) gameday. I had Duke and Villanova as my final two in my bracket. Most times, there are no reasons to go against what you pick in one's bracket; didn't think both of my final two would advance this far. There was optimism, but mild as there were no clear favorites. So, whatever happened: I would've been correct with my bracket pick OR with my daily selection. New info that transpired through March Madness changes/changed things (i.e. North Carolina playing like a One Seed, Moore's injury/Kansas's best players out of their slump) Now, I have to pick Monday's winner without a petty hedge. I'm watching, but while Duke haters might drink until their fall all night long, I think I'd blame the media on all the Duke hype before Coach K (even though Mike announced it off season, unlike Roy Williams)

Fair enough. You might actually dream of a Kansas win at the buzzer and then find out it was three things: A dream, reality, and a nod to the 2016 Tournament Final
