S08.E15: Read School Is In Session
Vicky8675309 replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
I'm glad Potomac is delivering the trashy drama--very entertaining in a pure trashy manner since Atlanta is so annoying (horrible Nene is back and faker than ever; Kim is a bore; Phaedra grosses me out; Kandi's family is THE WORST.....nothing to keep me interested) -
Kim Richards: No Escape from Witch Mountain
Vicky8675309 replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
Her daughter needs therapy imo based on this quote from Kimberly Jackson ""I feel like I'm her caretaker because she's fragile physically and emotionally. And it does overwhelm me." Well then DON'T be her caretaker/enabler! Has anyone seen that show (the new show where Kim is part of an ensemble cast)? I guess she wants people talking about her so HWs, feel free to talk about Kim since she keeping putting herself up for media/public consumption -

Kim is still so BORING! -
true! Lyme disease often presents with a VISIBLE rash so that whole made up nomenclature of visible invisible is just confusing and not helpful imo. I always had/have to remind myself that "crazy"** doesn't protect against "real" (un-pc way of saying non-psychiatric) disease and to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but extra caution if a patient circles everything on the "review of systems", has had numerous exploratory laps that didn't find anything, numerous drug allergies listing tons of medicines including steroids which are the same as the ones made in one's own body (have to clarify that the patient is talking about a true allergy and not just a side effect), etc...all those red flags...and to do this all in the 10-30 minutes you have for a follow up visit.....impossible....so then the appointment runs late.... **"crazy"...sorry, I know it is not PC and a horrible way to describe mentally ill or just annoying non-mentally ill people but it is so much shorter. I usually say squirelly but I'm not sure how to spell it (also not PC). No offense was intended and sorry if it causes offense to anyone.

I do love your command of the english language! BIB: if she didn't let the reader know who Nicole was then the book would be an article saying something like loving ex-wife and wonderful mother of two killed by her ex-husband. I don't see anything horrifying about recreational drug use unless she was driving under the influence or something similar. If she was described as getting wasted drunk and creating a ruckus in a hotel bar and kicking cops then that would be different. It was recreational, which depending on the drug maybe bad/dumb, it is different from saying addict. Did it mention the drugs used? How is experimenting with lesbianism bad? Praising a man's prowess and/or endowment is a compliment;-) The stereotype "once you go black you won't go back" would have been nicer then saying "ruined". If it is in reference to the stereotype of penis size then not necessarily bad (ok, bad since it is sexist and insults vaginas) but tasteless...but if one infers it "tainted" her then that is next level horrible (I think she was reference the former rather than the later interpretation). Some of it is sensationalism and tasteless/tacky...I don't know the exact wording but the word "ruined" is bothersome even if it is complimentary towards sex with black men. Sad that race was an issue during those times and in modern times. Caution: long OT example of one reason I like the juicer details that make a person relatable/memorable (how an American soon to be divorcee saved the world from the Nazis) In school, I usually found history class dry and boring. It wasn't until I was in college and later in life that after learning the juicer details of historical times that I actually remembered/learned history. For example, recently I watched a show about fashions and women in history and learned something that I would have remembered if I had been taught it in school (instead of not remembering anything about Kind Edward VIII from high school history because it was taught in such a boring manner). King Edward hooked up with 2 American divorcees (probably threesomes imo) and fell in love with the 2nd woman (in that group; he was a long time "player"), Wallis Simpson, who seemed to play a mom role for him (maybe not dom/sub but more like a sexualized mother-figure/son relationship--kinky and just imo). Obviously the court disproved and refused his desire to marry her so he abdicated the thrown (OMG) and married her (I think her divorce had to be finalized first and so he actually hooked up with a married woman). Edward was also not felt to be a good ruler and I think he liked Germany's politics and met/liked Hitler. Basically a love affair between a king and a married American (not yet divorcee) saved the world (he was a Nazi sympathizer unlike his brother Albert (not a Nazi sympathizer) who took over after Edward abdicated and became King George VI). If they taught me that in high school I would have remember it rather than the bland dry forgettable "facts" they "teach" in school (at least way back in the day when I was in high school).

To my understanding Nicole was divorce (or at least separated from OJ) whenever she was sexually intimate with another person. Marcus was married and/or in a committed relationship when he cheated on his partner with Nicole. I see nothing wrong with what Nicole did but Marcus was a cheater imo. If Nicole and Kathryn were really friends then that wasn't "cool" but I get the impression that Marcus and OJ were the main friends and that Kathryn was just friends through her husband (social friends but not close friends friends...we may need Yolanda's help with determining the type and degree of friendship...lol). However I defer to you and ZM on all this. Most of the information I know about this was from the excellent links you previously provided (the deposition links were interesting--especially the interactions between the lawyers like you had said). I read some stuff else on all this but the depositions were the most interesting imo. I didn't read all of them but many of them---Kato's were entertaining but I kind of felt guilty being humorously entertained by them considering the context.

Seriously, if a patient told me they had an "invisible disease" the first thought I would think is "I bet they are going to say demonic possession or alien implantation" and then I would have had a good internal laugh and afterwards laughed with colleagues about it (I know, not professional but you gotta get your laughs where you can...cop and doctor humor is usually much more twisted than that)

I lived in Panama the first 15 years of my life and we ate plantain like this all the time. Patacones (fried plantains) are twice fried and lightly salted and oh so yummy (very starchy). I didn't cook (was a kid/teen) but I found a ton of recipes for them (we called them patacones): http://www.food.com/recipe/patacones-fried-plantain-92191 I also like them when they are boiled or baked...when then come out soft (just a little chewy) and slightly sticky/sweet

Didn't Big Ang die from cancer? Cancer is not an invisible illness. Big Ang didn't whine like Yo or play the sick role. Big Ang is not her father, husband, son or any relative and is not responsible for their crimes. If she committed crimes that I assume she served her time or whatever punishment our justice system determined proper. I don't know that much about her but I have seen some of the show...she seemed nice and wasn't a lying, manipulative drama queen faking illnesses or using symptoms of illness for attention (unlike Yolanda). I haven't seen any of the recent episodes/season but I heard she didn't play the sick role

I have to admit I watch everything online! I love being able to watch it anytime anywhere.

WWHL gets about as many viewers as informercials or reruns (actually less than reruns in many cases) so the sample size is small and then when you consider how few of that small sample size actually votes....well that speaks for itself. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2016/02/17/monday-cable-ratings-wwe-raw-stays-steady-better-call-saul-premieres-low/ I just picked a random day it aired and if you know what date Yo was on it then you can find the ratings on that site. I do have issues with Neilson ratings but since the votes are live (??) then DVR viewings don't matter with the polls...so Neilson isn't as bad (in this case) as I thought. The rare episode(s) I hunted down online were just when they had a guest I really wanted to see or a post here made me interested. edited out info on leaky breasts (lol)--that's already been discussed in Yo's thread

She also messed up and said Robert Kardashian wrote OJ's suicide letter (I think she just misspoke or I misunderstood her) and she down played her ties to OJ after Nicole's death--like going with Marcus Allen to visit OJ in jail. Also she was vague after it was mentioned that OJ directly mentioned her in his suicide note. I don't blame her for her vagueness and think she handled portions of the interview well however some portions of it could have been handled better. At least Faye and Kathryn seem to be neutral with each other.

I'm quoting myself--ACK! I just do it because I didn't know where to put this "poll" about Team Rinna vs Team Yolanda from IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1720601/board/nest/253816255?p=1 more pro-Rinna but just in comparison to Yolanda I'm sure there will be some flip flopping depending on how the rest of the season goes
-
If she had Lyme Disease and had the 90 days of antibiotics like she said then the lyme disease is gone and most likely she is whining about post-treatment lyme syndrome. It sounds like the poll of the Yolanda-centric WWHL was 49/51 or so something like that so that is surprising and more inline with what I thought it would be. Twitter & IMDb seem to have views similar to here. A lot of vocal anti-Yo and some vocal pro-Yo. The polls, while not good science, are interesting since they give a hint at what the silent (somewhat silent) viewers think (people who may lurk except for polls).

My only interest in Yolanda is seeing her "brought down" for her manipulation, lies, and overall BS (see Yolanda's thread for more reasons, lol). I'm getting irritated with the other HWs enabling, pandering and caving in to Yolanda. I internally cheered when Rinna argued back but then was disappointed with the hugging (putting a bandaid on a gushing wound). I bonus video on bravo was uplifting (lol) when LisaV & Kyle defended themselves, especially LVP for calling out Yo's lies/exaggerations and for saying "You always say 'just let me talk'" (something like that). I wanted LVP to take it farther but she seemed to decide it just wasn't worth it--so frustration but she did better than anyone else How many people actually watch WWHL and how many actually vote on its polls? I've maybe caught 1 or 2 episodes online or parts of episodes online. It seems like they frequently have non-HW guests so maybe some viewers aren't even views of the HW shows. Also, wasn't Yo a guest on that episode with the poll about her so it seems like fans of Yo would be more likely to watch that episode if they were just a causal viewer of WWHL. I just don't see that poll as that representative of the viewers until the margin by which Yolanda won it was much closer to 50%. Also had the voters seen the additional clips of the argument on the bravo site?

Her exaggeration of her complaints and/or figurative use of words/phrases like "bedridden", "unable to walk", and "throw myself off the building" minimizes the REAL suffering of those people who are ACTUALLY severely depressed (with suicidal ideation/thoughts/plans, prior attempts), or actually are bedridden (how DARE Yolanda compare herself....does she have someone change her position every two hours, wipe her ass, feed her, etc). Anyone have problems walking, limited mobility, use a walker/cane/wheelchair or confined to a bed or know some who is....anyone every suffer from severe depression or contemplate/attempt suicide in the past or now.... I find her OTT descriptions/comparisons are offensive and repulsive since I have known people with all of these. As someone with health issues, I just want her to live in my body for a day before she opens her mouth to complain. I realize I haven't walked in her shoes (metaphorically) but she makes it really hard for me to empathize with her. Her minimization/trivialization of people who actually are or have been depressed to the point of being suicidal or near suicide, who are bedridden or are mobility impair or speech impaired is disgusting. She compares herself to the plight of early HIV/AIDS sufferers...what's next---she has it worse then end-stage cancer? Yolanda used it as an insult/threat rather than as an attempt to understand someones behavior/condition. Unfortunately there is a stigma attached to mental illness. Granted that is lessening but it is still prevalent. Same goes with STDs which despite being so common/prevalent also has a stigma. So does incontinence and yay to Rinna for doing commercials for Depends (they paid a lot due to the stigma). I think most people (not Yolanda) want to be seen as healthy (especially health conscious image conscious people (except YoHa) and don't want the world to think they have bipolar disorder or diabetes. Yolanda sees mental illness like depression and bipolar disorder as a weakness or controllable flaw (something that a person gives in to and she is to mentally strong to be depression...sure she can feel sad due to divorce or being "ill" but it is just a reaction/effect rather than the cause). edit: changed linguistically to speech

It still really bothers me that Yolanda tells the women, while berating them, that she would have killed herself by now if her weren't for her kids having Lyme Disease. That is just so manipulative and repulsive. I'm surprised none of the HWs said anything to her about that comment after she made it. I can't quite find the thoughts/words on why this comment bothers me so much but it's like she minimizes other people's suffering, trivialized truly suicidal/severely depressed people, places an impossible burden on her kids (you can't get better or I will die). This "suicidal" comment typifies how Yolanda wallows in her complaints and she doesn't know how truly lucky she is (she is alive, walking, talking, in good health per most doctors except Dr. Klinghardt [who is either crazy and/or scamming her], has a job, has a roof over her head (almonds on her plate), is wealthy, has kids who love her and are healthy, is living a privileged life as are her loved ones, isn't being emotionally/sexually/physically abused from what we can tell, is free [not chained or oppressed])....I could go on an on. Her dismissal of depression, as she says in her speech at one of the lyme conventions and when talking with Kyle, yet holding everyone hostage to her threats (or argument stoppers) of suicide really offends me. Sometimes I have trouble communicating my thoughts (obviously I am not a writer) and in this case my thoughts are kind of jumbled but I just had to put it out there about how much this comment by Yolanda really bothered/angered/offended me.

Kyle Richards: Pantene Poster Girl
Vicky8675309 replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
So true! Most people are slightly asymmetric. Haven't you all ever looked at a photo of your face and alternatively covered the right and left side and imagine it paired with an exact mirror image--sometimes the right and left halves can look very different. I've heard that models tend to be more symmetric than average. She may have slightly asymmetric eyes/eyelids with one being slightly smaller. Also depending on the angle of the photo and face it sometimes looks like one eye is rotated more inward....much of that seems to be due to angles but she may have a slight esophoria or exophoria. Regardless, Kyle is beautiful. -
Thank you for the explanation! ;-)
