    S06.E03: STD

Prince’s constant spying is creepy. Does the man not sleep? I realize that Ben Kim did not intend to tell Prince the news like he did, but I still liked Wendy calling out his ‘inadvertent’ nonsense. He felt bad because he screwed over his friend and spent the whole ep looking for someone else to fix it. If he felt that strongly about it, he should have warned Mafee. I think Wendy got involved because she still carries a guilty soft spot for Mafee and part of her wishes she’d followed them out. Part of her wishes she had been, as she said, that ‘loyal to Axe.’ Mafee and DB were idiots. I get that Mafee let his past with Wendy color his opinions, but DB should have shown more sense. Hopefully they took Wendy’s object lesson not to swing above their weight to heart. I missed them. Wags showed some refreshing self awareness about the office even if it was really a play. He was literally sitting on his ass all day, playing on his phone. Scooter should have said fuck it and kept the office. When is Sacker going to give up on Chuck? He is not some working class hero. He is not ever going to put an issue above his own gain. He’s just a ridiculous asshole, and she should get that by now. His megaphone plan really topped even his standards though. That was idiotic and no way do I believe he would be met with applause. First, YES. Neither Chuck nor Prince is interesting enough to carry the show. Second, I agree. Wendy needs a real purpose. I don’t think it’s an issue of buying her out though. I think it’s a contract issue with her. She already asked to be let go, and Prince refused. He wants her there. I don’t think it’s actually about her skills or job. I think he’s afraid that it will further destabilize the company to lose her now. Plus he seems to want to ‘try out’ her coaching skills. I think the cracks are forming because Prince isn’t the powerful figure Axe was. Ben Kim never had to question or second guess before; he just did as he was told and rode the wave to glory. And if discontent ever crept in, Axe scared it back out. Prince in comparison is soft. Without that guiding force, even Taylor is crumbling and Wendy is adrift. They need Prince to set the tone in a way that they can trust. Right now it’s just talk. This. The show is presenting it like Prince is going to be personally hosting and funding the Olympics. That’s not how it works.
  2. I noticed this too! I think that could be it. I think it’s also being used to show how uncomfortable she is. She’s not staying by choice, she doesn’t trust Prince, Axe is gone, her job as she knew it is gone- everything is changing around her. I hope it doesn’t stay though. I liked her dresses too.
  3. To be fair, a lot of coaching, particularly performance coaching, is stating the obvious in the right way, time and setting for the person being coached. If you want life changing insights, get therapy not performance coaching at work. That’s not her job. I feel like at this point, you either accept that in the show’s world, Wendy’s job is a crucial and valuable part of the culture and she excels at it or you don’t. I choose to so I don’t have a problem with her. I actually like her quite a bit. That’s seriously to each their own, but this debate never goes anywhere. I always just assumed she saw everyone there regularly; we just don’t need to see every session. She’s talked in the past about ongoing issues and monitoring their performance and output. Taylor is the exception, but they are also not one of the trade bros living and dying on their performance each day. They are management now and like Wags, probably don’t have to see her all the time. I agree the show was originally about the trio, so I think that is going to be part of the adjustment. Axe and Wendy grew Axe Cap together. They considered themselves partners more than boss/employee, and Wendy acted very much as another boss. So without him, where does that leave her? Wendy’s marriage has been a huge narrative point, even last season with the divorce. So Without that, where does that leave her story? I think the show is figuring that out. Right now she barely has as much story as one of the traders but hopefully that changes. I’m not sad that she’s not playing farmer with Chuck or being drug along on one of his stupid vendettas. I do want her to have a story though. I think her character is an important counter point to the big personalities and grand plans around her. I’m hoping she continues to be a source of friction for Prince. Someone needs to see more than his great guy act and since I think she’s the only one outside of the AG’s office who knows how he ‘won’ the firm, she makes sense. He screwed over the two most important men in her life. Plus now that Taylor came around, she’s the only one locked into a contract they don’t want. Prince is denying her freedom. Right now I think she’s as much a novelty to Prince as an asset, but I hope that shifts into her becoming more of the power player that she was before. I’ve seen that statement from Kopplemen before. I still find it and the pride with which he said it creepy and gross. I don’t know how Maggie Siff felt about it, but it’s not a compliment to me.
  4. So this is all about getting his wife back. I wonder what number she is. I’d love it if she was like number five. I doubt it though. She’s a climbing coach? I didn’t even know that was in the Olympics. I like Piper Perabo fine, but there was no chemistry there. Not a promising start for her character if their relationship is supposed to be carrying the emotional weight of the storyline. I figure I probably also wasn’t supposed to see Prince as controlling either. He did exactly what she accused him of doing, and she should keep walking. Wendy’s eye roll at Wags’ drama before dragging him in front of Prince was my favorite part. I didn’t feel bad for Wags or his idiot friend. Interesting that Taylor not only wants to stay but is already getting on board the Prince train. Considering Wags is actively trying to be good, that just leaves Wendy resisting. Even she’s still doing her job. I think that’s part of my problem so far- those three have valid reasons to be hesitant to embrace Prince. There should be some emotional fallout with them too over losing Axe. But the show is undercutting all that to cheer on Prince. I don’t need it to work that hard to get me to like him. Hopefully Wendy at least stays skeptical and keeps her voice in Taylor’s ear. Recognizing that the obvious play happening in front of her was personal gain (the wife) rather than altruism is the kind of thing Wendy should be able to see and a lot more interesting than gathering everyone around Prince the Great. I don’t get what they’re going for with Chuck. Am I supposed to be on his side? He doesn’t even pretend to truly be with the doormen. He was just using them and was happy to threaten them to get his way. Right now it seems that I am supposed to be rooting for the silver spoon blue blood to take down the billionaire class, the star of which is self made, just because he feels like it today. Apparently also to help get his subordinate elected to congress. That’s ridiculous. I’ve hated Chuck for awhile, but at least he had a logical goal before. I suppose it was nice to find out that Wendy tips well and isn’t raising assholes. How did they decide who got letters? Did she get one?
  5. This had way too much Chuck on the farm bullshit. I’m admittedly not a Chuck fan but separating him into his own little kingdom did not help. The only part of it I liked was that Wendy refused to have any part in talking Chuck down. It’s bullshit that she even had to be asked. I’m optimistic about Prince. I liked him better here than I have yet. His right hand man is useless though. What was the point of the rings? Why did they care about everyone’s heart rate and quality of sleep? I appreciated the animosity that Wendy and Taylor showed. Wendy in particular ended up in a really bad spot with all this. I wouldn’t want to be trapped working somewhere either, not to mention the emotional side of losing Axe. Taylor has a little more flexibility, but it’s still not great. It should take time for them to trust Prince. Wags too, but he’s in a different spot because he wants to be accepted. Prince’s big move certainly checked a lot of boxes. I don’t think it will mean much to the traders, but I don’t think he cares that much about them. On the other hand, it won points with Wendy, impressed Taylor’s crew, got rid of Senior and got the SEC off his back. It was risky, but that’s a lot of reward. I think my favorite moment was Wendy’s tiny freak out about Prince’s feet being on her couch and Prince trying to stay laying totally stretched out but hanging his feet off.
  6. Press release and promo photos for the premiere. Press release and promo photos for episode 2.
  7. I’ve seen several places saying it will premiere in 2022, but they all seem to be sourced from here.
  8. Promo photos for the premiere. There is a second, longer promo here. That’s a lot of Chuck. Very little Wendy, who I like, and very little Prince, who I thought was going to be the next big guy. If the loss of Axe brings Chuck to the forefront as the main guy, I’m not into that.
  9. I don’t think any of them are hurting for money, but that doesn’t mean they can afford to not work. For example, Wendy has a mortgage on a high dollar apartment and $70000 a year tuition for two kids to pay in addition to holding up the rest of their luxury lifestyle. Dollar Bill has two families and all the expenses involved to keep up. So while they’re all obviously rich, I can buy that they also need to keep high dollar jobs. Axe didn’t say they didn’t have an extradition treaty. He said they wouldn’t extradite for certain financial crimes, implying crimes like his. Though I don’t think it really matters now that he has a Swiss passport. There’s no way they’re extraditing a citizen for bank fraud.
  10. Interview with the showrunners They lost me with this. First off, Axe has smiled several times over the season just like he did in the finale. Second, that’s what the bank nonsense was all about? I thought he was too involved and too emotional about his fight with Prince. I never thought he was disconnected from it all or unengaged. If anything, the eps with his family showed how personal this one was. He even said in the finale that Chuck had gone after 'something more important than business' when he affected Axe's relationship with Wendy which again, making it personal. But he was disconnected?
  11. How Wags Became the Hedonistic Heart of Billions
  12. I wonder when Axe decided to run. I feel like it was a process through the ep, starting with Wags telling him he would turn on him if that's what it took to save himself. He knew then that he was truly in it by himself. Then with Taylor he said he didn't think he was going to jail. I think the conversation with Prince was just the final push. As soon as he agreed to sell I knew he was running. If he was staying, he would have stuck with the billion and a half he had between the foundation and his offshore accounts. The wrap up to Wendy/Axe was disappointing. Why did they even go there? There was a strong enough relationship between them without the romance for this ep to have played out the same way. I think he honestly thought she might come with him, which was reasonable considering she could have. Who says she had to stay in Switzerland? She's not being arrested. She could have gone back and forth, especially if she was provided citizenship too. I know the real reason was because Damian Lewis is leaving and Maggie Siff isn't, but I still disliked the wrap up. She had his back, and it wasn't enough. And he failed his loyalty test with her shares. Interesting that only Taylor saw through Wendy's act. I think that's probably because for the most part it wasn't an act. The sadness and grief were real; only the surprise was false. Without Axe, I think they have the chance for a real partnership for the first time, especially now that they will have a common enemy. Even without trust, they've always seemed to get each other on a true level. They could be friends. Wendy got her point made to them too. Even not saying as much as she wanted, she shook Rian and Taylor. What were the gold bar things in the bag Wags got? Axe certainly took care of his old friend. It seems Wags is already looking ahead though. He backed Prince quickly enough, standing at the right hand of the new king. As ridiculous as Wags is, I have a soft spot for his more thoughtful moments. He was really sweet to Wendy on the tarmac. I hate Chuck, and this ep didn't help. The smartest thing Chuck has said in awhile was needing Axe to take a plea deal. Chuck would never get through a trial clean. Regardless of what he told Axe, his hatred has always led back to Wendy. I actually wish that had been brought up during Axe's fight the power stage though I get that there wasn't time. In the forum of public opinion, Axe had a good case that Chuck was motivated more by his ex than the law, from when he froze her accounts for issuing a divorce statement to when he tried to leverage their divorce settlement into seeing Mason Carbon's books. Then there was that final smirk at Wendy just before the chopper landed and the asshole comments he made after. None of that was necessary but of course, he waited for his people to leave to lay into her. And maybe if he hadn't thought it was so important to put on a show, things would have turned out better for him. I'm not even going to touch the need for validation from his father scene. Otherwise, I look forward to Mafee and Dollar Bill. Does anyone besides Rian even work for Taylor any more? I continue to love the head of Axe's foundation. Scooter is so smug and condescending. I already hate him. I'm reserving judgment on Prince. He was more interesting in this ep than he has been all season which is promising. I hope you're right about the potential. I know Wendy isn't very popular here, but I still love her. I don't want this to sideline her. Do you think Axe will be hidden? I figured he would just go back to living his life as publicly as ever. If Chuck figures out that she knew he was going to run, that has potential for trouble. Though how could he prove it? After this ep, he has hell coming from her. I agree that she has potential to be trouble for Prince. That could be interesting. Can she still love her job if she hates her boss?
  13. I don’t think anyone is going to be resentful of Wendy. If there’s one thing that this show has established over and over, it is that in the world of Billions, Wendy and her work are valued and respected. Two questions: Wendy said in her conversation with Chuck that he had done everything to impel her towards Axe and his actions wouldn’t make sense unless you knew him. Is she saying that Chuck’s end goal was always her with Axe? Or that it was always going to be the result of his actions? I couldn’t tell if she was saying he should have known or what. Hall, Wags and Hard Bob told Axe to just say the word and they would get things started. Last time the plan was to run; Lara got out all the money and gold. Everyone knew it was the immediate action plan. So why does he not know what to do? From the looks between them, is he not running because of Wendy?
  14. Wendy has been off her game, but I think keeping her distracted is a crucial part of Chuck's clusterfuck of a plan. That's why he keeps screwing with her with the divorce and alimony. Parts of the plan like the dinner party setup are dependent on Wendy being pissed and upset enough about the money demand that she doesn't see the actual moves taking place. He forced a wedge between her and Taylor keeping her out of that part of the plan. He pulled her out of the office on the big day to go back to their old house and hand him a check in person. If Wendy is focused and on her game, there's no way this cannabis scheme gets this far. She would be making Axe second guess and questioning the rush and revenge motivation. Instead, she's close enough to see a few red flags but too distracted to follow the whole plan and see the setup. The fact that she's further distracted by Axe declaring feelings for her is just luck for Chuck.
  15. I missed something. Why is Kate doing a SCOTUS brief? I continue to enjoy Wendy and Chuck Sr scenes almost as much as I dislike Wendy and Chuck scenes. He used the divorce to keep her off her game. He knew that if she was focused, she would raise red flags. At a minimum she would make Axe think twice. So he pulled all that bullshit with the money and the check. That line about lines drawn, tattooed on was telling. It's always him v. Axe with Wendy the prize in the middle. I wonder if Taylor has told him yet that things are 'different' now with her and Axe. Probably considering what he said about some of her money going to him and the rest of her going to Axe, which was just gross. "I look forward to being clear of your fucked up family"- finally someone reasonable. Wendy and Axe were distracting each other. I think Wendy started that call like one of their normal calls, checking where his head was at. But as soon as he mentioned Fiji, away it went. I wonder if he is going to blame her for not catching him. Wags was right- Wendy was holding back. She saw the red flags. If she's not Axe's constant voice fighting his worst impulses, what will she be to him? Will he value her as a girlfriend? Wendy managed to be both for Chuck for a lot of years so I think it is doable. I'm just not sure they can figure it out fast enough to matter when Axe is looking for someone to blame. That shocked stare between them at the end seemed less than promising. There are still those Taylor Mason Carbon shares of hers that he owns that were in the previews too and her insistence that he won't hurt her. Maybe he'll blame Wags for not telling him about Taylor and Laurence Boyd. That was very short sighted. I don't think Wendy broke confidentiality. That was arguably much more of a report to her boss than session talk which she pointed out to Rian. She also brought it up with Taylor quickly. I thought their talk about trust was telling. Taylor will never trust Wendy because of Axe. Wendy will never trust Taylor because of Axe. As much as I have enjoyed their partnership, I think it has a believably short lifespan. I continue to enjoy Kate. She's the only sane one on Chuck's side.
  16. I'm always rooting against Chuck. Even if he's arguably right, I dislike him so much that I don't care. To me, the only saving grace for Chuck's storyline right now is Prince. I get why Prince hates Axe. He deserves everything he's getting from Prince because this vendetta of his is stupid and entirely self-inflicted. I don't know why Chuck is still so crazy for Axe unless he's supposed to be obsessed, which I don't buy. Originally I thought it was about Wendy. Chuck was always jealous of her relationship with Axe. But Chuck and Wendy have been over for awhile now. Maybe that's why they're hooking Wendy and Axe up- to give Chuck something new to be mad about and feel betrayed over. I agree that those lines make Axe interesting. That's why I'm hoping he doesn't fail this loyalty test they've set up. Even if he's only a gentleman for Wendy, he needs to have some redeeming traits. I disagree that the pairing will make the characters less interesting. In the early part of the series, there was a lot more focus on the personal lives of Axe, Wendy and Chuck. They've gradually worked away from that with Axe. Lately all we see from Axe is power plays and vendettas. Losing his family and personal relationships has diminished him and left his character to be defined by the bro culture of Axe Cap. Giving him a life outside of Axe Cap and a relationship that is even remotely genuine can only help the character in my opinion. I don't think much will change for Wendy. Axe has been her main relationship for awhile. She may only be a life coach, but she's supposedly a damn good one. One thing the show has told us repeatedly is that Wendy pulls her weight with the traders and Axe. What is there to resent? Just because her skills are different than the others doesn't make them less valuable. And I will be very surprised if the guys are shocked at the thought of Wendy and Axe anyway. Wendy and Axe are very close and their marriages have both fallen apart in recent years. It's not much of a leap to a sexual relationship between them at this point. The only people I expect to have a problem with Wendy/Axe are Wags and Taylor. Maybe Mafee. I think we've already seen how Taylor will react. Wags should be very threatened by a new relationship status in their trio. He may be Axe's guy, but he hasn't been in first position with him in awhile. Every screwup (like this ep) is a threat to his influence. When Wendy and Axe get involved, that will push him even further aside.
  17. Wags certainly tattles quick. Did he really believe that girl liked him because he was nice? Come on Wags. At least he was in the right lane this ep- Wags should always be no more than comic relief. It's so fitting that Wendy was honest on her disclosures and prepared to write the check for however much needed and yet Chuck is still holding it up with his bullshit. Then he wouldn't even answer the phone. Asshole. I skipped most of Chuck's dinner. I got at the end that apparently it was a setup? Somehow they knew that Wendy would call and Ira would show her the board and she would tell Axe and he would call Senior and Senior would show up uninvited. That's a step too far for me. Maybe if Chuck and Prince came up with the plan on the fly once Senior showed up I could buy it, but that's not what I understood. I completely understood Lauren's position. Taylor was very presumptuous to assume that she would stay. I hope Lauren sticks around working for Axe. I like Lauren. Better than Taylor this ep. I actually believed Wendy that she's never seriously thought about Axe that way. Not that she's never been attracted, but I don't think she ever took it seriously. If anything, I think he was her 'perfect' alternative to Chuck (like when her license was being threatened) that she looked to when he was pissing her off. He's her big moments, save the day guy. I think this has been coming from Axe for a while though. At least since last season. I was surprised he was so honest about it though. I expected him to stick with the passive aggression for awhile longer. The progressive honestly without any guaranteed, immediate payoff was unexpected but nice. I still think he's just been waiting on her to say go though. I hope Wendy is right. In the midst of all his crap, Axe needs a positive relationship or trait. I liked knowing that he would say yes just because it was Wendy. I liked knowing that she could have just asked him to hand it to her and he would have though that method wouldn't have included the future loyalty test. He's even earned her faith at this point. So I'm going to be disappointed if this season ends with him screwing her over.
  18. The Delaware AG- nice to finally see someone with a sane reaction to Chuck's bullshit. Everyone should see him coming at this point and lock the door. I finally liked Prince listening to him go off at that investor. I was just glad to see something finally get to him. I get that he's supposed to be good but characters need more than that. I appreciated the personality. The mother was wrong- Prince is definitely better than Axe. It's weird watching Wendy and Axe talk about Tanner. It's so awkward. It's weird seeing Axe seemingly genuinely try to help someone even though I know he has ulterior motives. I suppose it's mainly just the slightest bit of subtlety that seems so out of character for Axe. How is Prince rationalizing this alliance with Chuck? How is this not lowering himself to Axe's level? I don't get his motivation unless it is as it seems- he wants revenge. But that doesn't exactly suit his saintly persona. Chuck's speeches were really grating this ep. Thank god Wendy finally came to her senses. Tanner should never have been more than a rebound. The line about needing a girl was perfect. Because he's not on your level, Wendy. Getting Senior a kidney was a genius move. I'm surprised it took this long.
  19. Wendy and Tanner were so awkward with their money talk. I get why Wendy was worried but at the same time, shut up Wendy. Tanner's idea of winning is on a completely different level than hers. One more reason they are unsuited for anything more than a rebound. Taylor didn't grab me with their crisis but the music was really good. The trader was right- Taylor wanted to own her and didn't know what to do with the pushback. I couldn't get past the fact that it was essentially a fight about appearances. Catering in her off time wasn't hurting Taylor. They just didn't like it. I don't care what Chuck did in college. I guess this was an effective way to finish up the Yale storyline and everything that came with it, including Julianna Margulies' character. Wags is too ridiculous for me to take seriously, even when he's being threatening. I liked Wendy's scene with Senior. I completely get why he asked her instead of Chuck, but I also get why she was reluctant. She's just letting herself be sucked back in again right when she's getting away from Chuck. I also liked her convo with Axe. I realize it didn't go where she intended but I enjoy them.
  20. The show will return on September 5th for five new episodes.
  21. HBO For Your Consideration page Claudia Black interview on the finale and her work. Some Laura Donnelly interviews post-finale: Deadline Den of Geek Esquire Polygon Collider And an interview with Laura and Ann Skelly.
  22. I'd forgotten that scene of Amalia tracing her face at the mirror. Now we know she was tracing her old scar. I feel like this ep would have been better earlier in the season. It reframed so many scenes and moments. I realize it would have stifled a lot of the speculation and surprise, but I think knowing these things earlier would have really enhanced the series. It was easily the best episode of the series so far IMO. Laura Donnelly was great. Were any of those accents hers? The first chapter was weird as hell but I liked it. Not enough to want to watch it again, but I liked it. Interesting that names are only sacred to one side. Is keeping their names secret what the captive soldier meant about them hiding from God? So the scientists helped the Galanthi build this portal to London 1896. So the artifacts are from when they tried it? And from later, "this Christmas Carol crap is so specific to my three term focus"- Amalia studied Victorian times? Maybe that's why the Galanthi took her instead of Knitter or one of the others for this mission. She was in certain ways very suited for it. Molly was just heart breaking. Sarah is sweet but loony. Horatio bought in very quickly. Is this some kind of thing where he thinks she's hot so he went along with it? I just have trouble believing that he accepted it all that day just because she said so. I understand why Amalia sold out Sarah but I also understand why she feels so badly about it later. In one selfish moment, she ruined Sarah's life. It seemed like the kind of self preservation that was natural for Stripe but that Amalia has grown past. It not only set Sarah up to be tortured by Dr. Hague, but it took her away from her husband (assuming that's who Lester was) too. That's a lot of consequence for one bad decision. I understand why she blames herself but I also like that it has never gotten in the way of recognizing that Maladie killed those people and Maladie has to pay for it. One decision along the way doesn't make all of it her fault. Amalia really believes that she could be the reason everything went wrong. My question is did it go wrong? Obviously the doctors didn't get to come and Stripe was picked up last minute but maybe thinking it's all wrong are her own issues. Maybe the touched are exactly what the Galanthi intended and Amalia's mission to protect them is exactly what they wanted from her. Bullshit to Amalia telling Penance that saving Maladie was the right call. It was stupid and I choose to believe that she only said that to make peace.
  23. They could have easily ended the last ep with Amalia saying the Galanthi. It would have fit the scene and kept it from seeming so random this ep. Speaking of random, the sex scene at the beginning was sudden but it was hardly shocking. Amalia made clear a couple of eps ago that she was willing, and Horatio certainly never seemed over her. I do think they have chemistry but I've never found it hot when a man wraps his hands around the woman's throat (second scene). The old white guy committee always seems about two seconds away from eating their own. Massen seems to be stuck on the same basic idea- cause chaos. It has hardly been successful but I suppose that's his arrogance. If he was finally successful, he should thank Penance. I liked the whole scene in the courtyard. It was interesting hearing their discussion. Scenes like that give all the touched more space to show their personalities and allow other viewpoints. Seeing Swann coming to Mundi for help was a refreshing change of pace for them, but I still can't stand Swann. What was with the scars on Penance's back? I actually felt bad for Augie in their conversation right after. Penance was being ridiculous. Overall Penance was idiotic this ep. I could have forgiven her spiel about forgiving Lucy and being afraid of making weapons but it led to the madness that was rescuing Maladie. I understand that she felt Maladie was being unfairly treated for being touched but come on. Amalia's perspective was indisputable there. And what were they supposed to do with her after they rescued her? Let her go? Put her on a boat like Lucy and let her inflict her terror somewhere else? I also didn't think her speech was cute though it was obviously supposed to be (I'm sweating!). Her self-satisfied little smile when people started to back her made me glad to see Augie go to Amalia and wipe it off. Plus beyond all that, it meant that Amalia had to send people with Penance just to keep her dumb ass alive. Sign of a brilliant plan, right there. I did like Amalia's line at least- "I can't compel anyone to stay with me but that's-that's mental. Don't do that." The stampede was the scariest part of the episode for me. So Lavinia was after a cure too. She seems to have a lot of guilt about it all. Or maybe it's just fear? The stress of it all giving her the headaches? It's interesting that she thinks the Galanthi is causing their problems, like it's poisoning the city.
  24. This episode was much more hit or miss for me. The funeral ran too long and I don't care about the strike or the reporter (I get that that improves but that didn't make me care in this ep). Anything involving Hugo Swann makes me want to press fast forward. Similarly, Penance and Augie are cute as can be but not particularly interesting. Penance actually got on my nerves in her first conversation with Amalia. I get it- you think she needs to grieve. It was like they were having two different conversations and only Amalia's was interesting. On the other hand, Myrtle and Primrose's conversation was precious. Myrtle's turn must be so frustrating. Harriet is obviously a very intelligent woman so it was nice to see her with something to do. I liked Nimble a lot. The conversation between Mundi and Maladie was good. The final scene between Amalia and Penance was cute. Everything with Lucy was sad but great. I understood why a promise to get rid of her turn would appeal to her. Hers is a source of tragedy. And she obviously felt very guilty about Mary. I didn't expect her to have so much anger against Amalia in particular but if she honestly believed that Amalia may have been the source of the turns, it makes sense. It was just sad coming right after Amalia's positive view of their relationship. I hope she shows up again. I thought it was sad that from all of it, what Amalia took was that she had to be even more distant. She said she hated that she didn't know anything going on with the girls. That surprised me because I never really got that she was particularly interested in the touched as individuals. I guess it plays into her annoyed reaction when she played the buzzkill in the kitchen in the last ep. She does want to be accepted and involved, she just doesn't do it easily. The conversation with Massen and Amalia was also great. I was surprised he went for the role playing idea but I guess he was as intrigued as he seemed. It also gave him a chance to get his jab in- blaming Amalia for Mary's death. Interesting that she didn't pass that along to the group. I think because she actually believed it. I wonder if she ever suspected anything or if she was truly blindsided by the killing. I cracked up watching Bonfire Annie jump when Penance walked in at the beginning. She talked a big game but she moved quick when she thought she was caught. Makes me think of why she came to the orphanage at all instead of taking over part of the wharf like she'd planned. I think she wants the power but doesn't want to actually be in charge. Was that the girl with the clock turn that Swann auditioned fixing the clock at the orphanage? It was just a quick glimpse, but it looked like her. After hearing about Amalia's pain at being left behind, the message seemed hopeful. It seemed like a moment of catharsis for her too which was affecting.
