One is the Loneliest Number: Unpopular GG Opinions
timimouse replied to mstaken's topic in Gilmore Girls
I see what you mean but on the flip side, Luke would then wonder why did Rory lie. And knowing how close they are, he'd probably think that she was trying to hide something for Lorelai, which wouldn't be good for either the Lorelai-Luke relationship or the Luke-Rory relationship. I actually agree with you so now I'm gonna ask for you to explain what you meant in your earlier post when you said you didn't think it was a big deal? I often wonder why did Luke wait until the science fair to contact Anna and why didn't he get a second test done by a lab?!?! As smart as April is... wouldn't you want something a little more concrete? -

I think that's why it became a big deal... because she hid it. When she was in the dinner the next morning, nursing her hangover, there was absolutely no need for Rory to jump in with the lie. She could've said, then and there, that Chris' dad died and she went over there last night with a bottle of tequila, that they finished. By unnecessarily hiding it, you plant that seed of doubt when you hurriedly tell him at your parents vow renewal ceremony. I actually blame that whole thing on Rory because Lorelai was going to tell him and she butted in. It would've looked suspicious if she tried to change the story after that. -
This one pertains to the revival... At the end of Spring, after her interview with "Sandy Says", Rory has a (ridiculous) hissy fit and throws out two of her three phones. Yet, at the beginning of Summer, just before April enters her room to speak with her, she's plugging in one phone to charge and picks up the other to check Logan's message. Did we forget that she just threw out her additional phones or did it not stick and she bought another one?

I'm good with the ending for the most part. Don't have any major criticisms. Kinda glad it's done though, as I think I was growing tired of it and was just watching out of habit. I liked it in the early seasons because I found the deaf/hearing aspect very interesting but I feel after a while, they got veered off that course and it became more and more like a sitcom soap opera. I am also realising that I may be the only one here that doesn't have a problem with Bay and Regina's relationship. I remember they spent quite a bit of time getting to know each other when they moved in with Angelo. They bonded over their love of art. Yeah, it may have been more like sisters than mother and daughter, but I think that's OK. Bay already had a mother with whom she had a good relationship with (teenage angst aside) and she didn't need to latch onto Regina to find that. I actually think it's more realistic that way than Daphne trying to get Katherine to be her second "mom". I actually hated that scene. Found it unnecessary.

Agreed 100%. When I read about Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams hating each other during the filming of 'The Notebook', I went from shocked to impressed because I would never have guessed that from their performances and that's how it SHOULD be. I'm not watching this show to know about your personal feelings towards each other, I'm watching for the fictional relationship. My UO is that Lorelei has been on her own for too long and doesn't know HOW to be in a relationship, and so all those guys should hightail it outta there, away from her selfish behind! i still love her though :) -
I remember when you posted this, I started making notes in my phone as I watched the episodes, because unfortunately, unlike you guys here, I can't keep track of all the episodes names.... and I JUST came across the list in my phone! So I didn't make it to 7 episodes (guess somewhere along the lines I forgot about the list) but these are what I think would be my 5 to be stuck on a desert island with: 1) Dear Emily and Richard: This has always been one of my favourite episodes as I feel like we got insight into the past which gave me a much better understanding of ALL the Gilmores. 2) The Sofa, the Hobbit and Digger Stiles: That scene where Sookie completely screws up the food at the kid's party is one of my favourite of the entire series. I know it's a bit on the ridiculous end, but I can't help but find it hilarious. "Sookie, where's the rest of the kids' food? ... They're small! How much can they eat?!" 3) The Incredible Sinking Lorelais: In this episode, I found myself really feeling sorry for both Lorelai and Rory. The fact that they were struggling made them seem a bit more human and not just have everything magically work out for them. It was also one of the rare times I found myself agreeing with Lorelai that she shouldn't have had all of the work solely on her shoulders and Sookie wasn't holding up her end of the partnership. 4) How Many Kropogs to Cape Cod?: I feel like this episode was when I decided how I felt about Logan. That was it for me. Spoiled, entitled rich-kid. I never forgave him after this. 5) I'd rather be in Philadelphia: I never liked Christopher and hated their marriage on a whole, so this episode was the peak of all of that hatred. He should've been there for his wife. I don't care for them trying to portray Logan as the perfect boyfriend (see previous point #4) but it was a good contrast to show how bad of a screw up it was for Chris to NOT be there. Also love Emily going into planning and preparation mode and telling Lorelai off for not knowing what it's like to stick with a man for so many years.

All Episodes Talk: Lorelai and Rory and the People They Love
timimouse replied to solotrek's topic in Gilmore Girls
OMG, I say this all the time! Why did she chase it?!?! It hit her; it ran away; she was already late for school. Shouldn't she have been more focused on getting to school? Also, why was she calling lane about her notes when she on her way to take the test?!?! What was the point in that. Even if Lane did have the notes, how is it going to help her while she's heading in the opposite direction? -
S13.E16: Who Is He (And What Is He to You)?
timimouse replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Grey's Anatomy
A lot of doctors that I know (in real life) didn't go through the process of changing their names because they would've become doctors before they got married and changing your name means also changing all your medical certificates, which is a lot of hassle. I do know one or two that changed their legal names but not on their medical licenses so, for example, if Catherine had done that, she would be Mrs. Catherine Webber but Dr. Catherine Avery. -

I will agree that i enjoyed having an entire hour of Jesse Williams and I'm all for more episodes focused on him but I found that I didn't like the episode... And I too am curios about whether or not they are together. I'd love for the next episode to give us something along the lines of April thinking that their one-night-tryst meaning that they are back together and Jackson telling her no! For the record, I didn't hate April. Actually quite like them together and grew to like her even more after she came back from Iraq (?) but I didn't agree with her leaving. He was grieving also and needed his wife and she did what she needed to do for herself. I know what it's like to loose a child and I won't point fingers at anyone for doing what they needed to for their own personal healing, but it tore them apart and I think they're time is done. I would've much preferred to see them co-parent successfully (in separate houses cuz that living together thing makes no sense to me). Slight nitpick... I feel like April is doing and saying things that are rather out of character... last week with the whole "I feel like I've been demoted" crap and this week when she got on the plane and began gushing.... since when does April care about private planes? -
Cosign this. I found myself rolling my eyes quite a bit at the beginning of the episode as I felt some of it was VERY heavy handed, but by the end I was smiling and almost in tears (and I don't cry for tv / movies). Disclaimer: I am a black viewer and while I may not be American, I'm close enough to see all what has been happening there. And I'm in full support of the Black Live Matter Movement as I do think it's important to fight for our rights. That being said, I also believe that sometimes black people jump to racism too quickly. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, becasue that would be naïve and silly of me, but I don't think EVERYTHING is racist. So I didn't take offence to Mingo's costume becasue I don't think he was emulating black culture, just simply dressed as a black person. If he went to a presidential themed party dressed as Barack Obama, would he still be seen as racist? I don't think so. Which is why I didn't like the few previous episodes. I thought the drama was contrived from a weak plot. But now that they've explored Iris' character some more, I actually understand why she overreacted (in my opinion) to it. I understand why Sharee wanted to just lay low but now no longer felt like she could. I even liked them giving us a little bit more from Chris, who, like the reviewer said, is new, but they did it so well that I found myself feeling for him and his POV also. Unlike others here, I don't wish this episode had happened earlier becasue the past two season I've been bored with the same tired stories and characters and their love triangles. I really enjoy when they do these "very special episodes" and even though I get annoyed at how thick they lay it on sometimes, I understand that they have to do that in their 40-min window to really drive home their point and I'm ok with it if we get an episode like this that has me smiling and feeling good at the end. Two thumbs up to the writers and directors.

S05.E04: Relation of Lines and Colors
timimouse replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in Switched At Birth [V]
These are like my thoughts, verbatim. Daphne knows hows much they struggled at Carlton to be heard and how the system wasn't exactly working in their favor then, so why would she think it would be any different here? I also was curious about how Emmett was going to shoot himself but I guess the photographer upthread answered that. This arc about Bay's boss stealing her work is already annoying me and it hasn't even started. Why couldn't we just see Bay grow by learning from the "best tattoo artist in Kansas" who had obliviously built that reputation long before Bay came along. I'm sorry but I find it hard to buy this "19 year old Bay is really amazing and jut being kept down unfairly by a jealous boss" thing. **ROLLS EYES** That entire story was over exaggerated on everybody's part. Travis knew that even though HE wasn't speaking to Emmett, Bay was. Bay should have told Travis about it when she intended to regardless of his mood. Travis shouldn't have flipped out when he saw it. Bay shouldn't have flipped out on Emmett (as she should have told Travis already). However, I'm on board with the Bay and Emmett pairing. Always have been. I never had an issue with how he broke up with Bay... they weren't in the same places anymore. Literally and figuratively. They grew apart and that happens. I would be ok with her ending up alone because the chances of actually ending up with your high school sweetheart are very slim. But if I am to pick between Emmett and Travis, EMMETT WINS. Travis is so angry. All the damn time. -
S10.E16: The Allowance Evaporation

I WANT to like this show still. I really do. But I'm struggling. I used to laugh out lout. Literally. Now i spend more time on my phone than anything else. I even fell asleep in the last 5 minutes and haven't rewound it because i honestly don't care enough to. -
This made me LOL. Thanks . Sorry for being late to this party. I don't get to see the episodes on the same night and i also don't get to read all the prior posts, so my apologies if this has already been said. This i agree with. April was never my favorite character but she definitely grew on my in the past 3 or so seasons. Yet, all throughout this episode, I found myself hating her. And you put it into words for me. I don't think she earned it. I also think she handled it badly. I can understand being put in a tough position but I think the mature thing would've been to say to Bailey "Thank you for this opportunity but before you send out that email, could you give me a day to talk to my peers?" I don't think that would've been an unreasonable request, and it would've given her the opportunity to talk to them and explain why she felt she needed to take the job and come up with a plan to move forward. The way she did it does make her look like a traitor. And it still would've provided the necessary drama as then we would have "someone on the inside". I also knew that poor kid was going to die, the minute we saw him. And I just didn't feel as much emotion as i used to because I feel like we've seen this SO MANY TIMES already. Maybe it's time Grey's called it quits. Because while i still love to tune in weekly, I'm no longer in love with the characters and show that I once was. Lastly, can i sign the "no to Arizona and Minnick" petition? Arizona is also one that i didn't initially like but has grown on me tremendously to the point where she's one of my favorites (except when she gave up Sofia to Callie.... cuz that was just plain stupid) and I despise the way they're trying to shove this pairing down our throats. UGH.

Join me at a table for two... because I am not convinced. I'm guessing people have been rallying for them but I think I preferred when he told her that he was interested and she told him that she wasn't. Because that's how it goes in the real world. You don't automatically fall for every guy that says he likes you. Epsecially when he's dated your sister and your relationship with her has been tested in the past because of men. Just saying... I struggle with this at times because I too didn't really consider her to be Latina, which is hypocritical of me. I'm from the Caribbean where many people who appear to be "white" actually are considered black because that is our culture. (I say "white" because many do have some distant trace of negro blood). So I keep reminding myself that Latina is not based on the colour of your skin, but the culture in which you were raised. I'm pretty sure that Daphne celebrated her 15th birthday with a quinceanera, something I didn't do as that's NOT part of my culture, but it is part of hers. :)

A Year In The Life: What Would You Change?

Also, when headmaster Charleston claimed to "always been fond of" Rory and her being "top of her class at Yale"... LMFAO -
I have a bit of a bizarre nitpick. In the episode with Lane's wedding, after Lorelai's debacle of a toast, Rory gets a call and comes back and says "Logan's been hurt." and Christopher's response is "Is he ok?" which ANNOYS me so much! It's such a stupid response. Had she said that he'd been in an accident that would make more sense but if she states that he's been hurt, clearly he's NOT ok! It's possible that my opinion here is a bit biased because I despise Christopher but it just adds to why I think he's an idiot and not worth the screen time.

I'd agree with you IF she hadn't decided to tell him about getting drunk with Chris on the night his father passed away. Her not being open with that information until she thought it may have come out from someone else planted that seed of doubt and mistrust, which is what I think he was really reacting to. -
All Episodes Talk: Lorelai and Rory and the People They Love
timimouse replied to solotrek's topic in Gilmore Girls
I also tend to be oblivious when a man is interested in me so I can't say that I blame her too much for that. However, to me, that scene epitomizes why I despise Rory and Logan's relationship... she just jumps as soon as he snaps his fingers. She's so weak for him and I don't think that is healthy. SHE was the one that insisted on hanging out with Marty, even when he tried to keep his distance. She didn't get to see him that often and when Logan showed up at her door she should've simply said "I'm sorry, but I have plans tonight. I will call you tomorrow." You don't drop your friends as soon as the man who you're interested in calls. -
I was one who thought that a move to freeform would facilitate more mature writing but now I'm not so sure. I recently rewatched a couple episodes of Good Luck Charlie which aired all 97 episodes on Disney channel and while there was a certain level of silliness at times, the writing wasn't unbearably immature... it wasn't a bad show at all. So I don't think the problem was GMW being on Disney channel... I think the problem was just the writing. Yes I think it has potential but it didn't live up to it and the time for saving it has passed. RIP GMW

I do believe it was just another case of over-exaggeration for comedic effect on this show (which we saw a lot of). And I will admit, that while a lot of the time, that bothered me when they did that, in this instance, I LOVED it! For some inexplicable reason, that is probably one of my favourite scenes in the series... "Hey we're talking!"... cracks me up every time.

A broke person would not throw those phones in the trash! Sell online? Trade in? Give to a friend. Who has a hissy fit and throws away $800 phones? That really bugged me!
-
Ummm... I'm not going to get into whether I agree with you on that or not but I did want to remind you that the Community Service was court ordered (because of the crime she committed) and she didn't even want to work as she thought that 300 hours of community service to be done in 6 months would've had her plate full. It was Emily that pushed the DAR job.

I'll have to think about this some more but I definitely think 'Dear Emily and Richard' will make the cut for me.

Lorelai Gilmore: The 10(+) Things I Hate About You
timimouse replied to TwirlyGirly's topic in Gilmore Girls
1) I didn't see it as pathetic, but more as the act of a desperate woman, which to me made her character more interesting. Emily so badly wanted to be a part of her daughter and granddaughter's lives that she felt she had to essentially bribe them for it. And I think that throughout the series we got glimpses of why she felt she had to go that route. I'm not saying Emily was perfect by any means, but I don't think she's as pathetic and horrible as some see her. 2) I think the "Rory has to go to Chilton to get into Harvard" story was definitely contrived, and I would have loved to see what would have happened had she NOT gotten into Harvard after everything they did trying to make that happen. I also believe that her going to Yale was all part of ASP's "Full Freaking Circle" grand plan and the age old nature vs. nurture debate, as Rory didn't grow up in that environment yet seemed drawn into so many aspects of it.- 713 replies

It always interests me to get different perspectives of these scenes. Also, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that found it a bit... off.
