  1. Same. I'm really lucky in my friend group that none of my coupled friends assume that I will pay half. Things are divided by person. I spent the weekend with friends from CA who moved out of state and we took turns paying for food, drinks, and Uber, so we all got points. At the end of the weekend I added up mine (minus the tab I picked up as a thank-you for hosting me), my friend added up their cards, she decided since they drank most of the alcohol we bought at the store that they'd cover most of it, and we divided the final total by 3. Back when we lived near each other, if me and her went out one on one we typically either split the bill or I pay here, she pays there but if the three of us went out they typically picked up two tabs to my 1 or we'd add it up and split the cost in the AM.
  2. A good reminder for the singles and childfree people ahead of the holidays: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cyf9BqsL1AQ/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  3. I've been at my new job 7.5 months and qualified for a review as part of the formal review cycle. I got the highest marks and they are really happy with my progress as a new hire. My bosses boss told her he was impressed with how quickly I caught on and how I stepped up while my co-worker is out. Big boss doesn't give praise like that lightly or often so it meant a lot to hear. They're doing salary and title reviews, my boss shared a growth plan for us to move up in levels and qualify for a "promotion salary adjustment" instead of the nominal annual [not really] cost of living increase. Yay!
  4. I find it interesting that Alex wanting a seat at the table after 20 years as seen as "too much". If Alex was a man would they be seen as wanting "too much"? I love that she unapologetically has an ego, an aura of self-importance and knows her self-worth but those are seen as negative traits in a woman. If Alex was a man would they be seen in the same negative light? Happy Chip moved on, and they took the proper steps to file their relationship with HR. Alex's rection to discovering their relationship was expected given everything with Mitch. There should 100% be consequences for Alex and Bradley, but some things are too important to keep quiet and I'm glad Alex brought Luna's story to air. F that Sheriff trying to silence the press. Move the protesters if they were there without proper permits but do not mess with the press. From my favorite show "You force the press into the cold, and all you will get is lies and innuendo! And nothing, nothing is worse for a free society than a press that is-that is in service to the-to the military and the politicians, nothing!" Emmett Bregman. (Stargate SG:1 S.7E18) I shared this in my thoughts on episode 1 but I think Bradley and Cory either hooked up or dated. So Stella and Paul were a thing at some point. Does Paul know Stella works at UBA? Néstor Carbonell does not age.
  5. So happy this show is back. While I love the time skip to touch on coverage of more current events I wish they covered what happened to the Daniel, who we last saw driving to his grandfather contemplating going into the gas station. I realize he quit TMS but did he survive COVID? Did his grandfather? I took that as he was there for her when Hal disappeared (which were highlighted in the recap so I presume they will be touched on). Her fingers look too beat-up for that railing to be a hospital bed. It could have been inside the Capitol. It would not be a leap if she still has PTSD from that experience, especially if she was on her own either by intent or by nature of the chaos of the insurrection. I think Bradley and Cory either hooked up or dated for a period of time. Bradley was shown hooking up with a bartender early on (season 1?) and I always had the impression Lara was trying to convince Bradley she was a lesbian, not bi-sexual.
  6. I will hold a grudge and be bitter until the day I die over the discontinuation of this amazing candy bar. Skybar is not the same.
  7. We used to get those. After a few years of eggings and TPings (not by me!) they finally turned out their lights. Life before cameras was pretty great. 🤣
  8. I submitted two feedback forms when the intrusive ads went live via a feedback form that was supposedly going to the site owners and no one bothered to respond.
  9. Once they process their anger about being misled and lied to about so many critical things they'll be angry about different things. The ones I know of are super angry all the time about whatever it is people are telling them to be outraged about.
  10. To reinforce your point: Even blue color jobs require education. Many of them need higher level math to calculate cuts, or mixes, or estimates, etc... Society does better when everyone has a solid educational background with a mix of topics during their formative years. Trade schools are just as valuable as university / higher education.
  11. I tend to rewatch episodes as background noise and I'm laughing so hard at Chef Showdown I'm crying. I'm sorry.
  12. Some people can be highly educated but not others? Who should be making those decisions? Oh, sorry, society has enough people with a PhD, you can't continue with your education? Oh, sorry, we have too many scientists, you need to be a welder?
  13. Counterpoint: not enough education leads to an entire populous or demographic with underdeveloped critical thinking skills which leads to insane trains of thought such as: a test of the emergency broadcast system will turn anyone who received the COVID vaccination into zombies, or, the COVID vaccination contains micro-chips to track people, or the COVID vaccination contains 5G chips, or... and I could literally go on for quite sometime listing all the ridiculous beliefs and behaviors that come from not having developed critical thinking skills. Education sure does, if you're in a medical or hospice setting. The rest of us just have to try to get by the best we can using our empathy and community.
  14. I was cracking up through most of the episode and I think it was the best one of the season (so far). While I want the strike to end, I'm loving the variety of hosts we're getting in the interim. Yes. Foo Fighters can do no wrong. Lake Beach... omg this hit so hard. When I moved from Long Beach, CA to Atlanta, my new friends tried to sell me on how amazing this beach they go to was and how much fun I'd have. Yea, no. It was literally a little patch of sand and rock in the Chattahoochee. So gross. 100% looked like the Lake Beach in the video. Everyone knows the pacific ocean is gross, but I don't have to walk through it to get to the "beach", I can look at it while sitting on the sand.
  15. When you report this, because at this point, you have no choice if this is the same guy you've been lamenting about, only talk about how it is inappropriate in the work place and how it impacts you, at work, at work functions, etc... Clearly state that you clearly asked him to stop, you left no room for misinterpretation that you were OK with this topic, yet he persists. You shouldn't have to ask him to stop, because it shouldn't be in the work place, you shouldn't have to ask him to stop before reporting but since you did, you should call that out. Don't speak on behalf of anyone else and keep in mind your thoughts on this type of conversation outside the workplace are irrelevant.
  16. No one should have to appear to be the property of another to be treated with respect. In addition to that, potential repercussions (such as escalation in harassment, or violence) for lying about being the property of another to get an unstable harasser or predator to leave you alone are not worth the risk. Websites use ads to bring in revenue and ad-blockers prevent that.
  17. I really enjoyed Go On, and I'm still salty Studio 60 was cancelled after its short run.
  18. I don't normally have feelings when a celeb passes but Perry's passing is like a gut punch. I hope the reports from the LA Times about no drugs being found at the scene are accurate. He had a slew of health issues (from his substance abuse). Maybe his body just gave out.
  19. I love Halloween. I have 7 pumpkins to harvest for the seeds. I'm so excited I have a yard to decorate and hopefully kids of all ages coming by for candy. I don't care how old someone is or how dressed up they are, if you knock you get candy. My company has a huge fall festival with a costume contest, rides and carnival food.
  20. People in your role are 100% not the greedy overlords I'm talking about.
  21. Several steaming services including Peacock will offer it for 99cents a month or $1.99 a month for a period of time. If you time it right and stack any available Rakuten offers and CC perks you can sometimes get it for basically free. Usually the specials start around Black Friday. Though depending on the outcome of the strike the greedy overlords will probably axe those deals in the name of profits. I have Peacock for super cheap until June or July 2024. When I subscribed there was a CC offer on my Chase card and also I think a Rakuten offer. Between both those rebates I think my out of pocket will be $2 for a year.
  22. Another major Costco win for me! I've been in my new-to-me house since July and while I have mini blinds (soon to be upgraded) my bedroom desperately needed curtains but the ones I like are so expensive and I couldn't decide what I wanted. Long story short, I wandered into Costco for my weekly trip, saw a 2pk of 100% blackout curtains with magnetic closures in the navy blue I've been seeking for $24.99. WIN! I picked up a third set today (I have 3 windows and each window needed two panels) and saw they went on sale. So curtains for all my windows in the right color for $60 (Costco price-matches themselves within 30 days of purchase. Based on the other curtains I was looking at, this purchase basically paid for my membership in savings alone. For those who are interested: https://www.costco.com/oscar-blackout-curtains.product.4000201260.html (note: items on Costco.com are typically a few dollars more expensive than in-store, as reflected in this item).
