I know I was in the kitchen, and I suspect I was emptying the dishwasher when I was presented with my engagement ring. We've been married for five years with two kids. I wouldn't say it was a perfect marriage, but I've never felt shortchanged by the proposal or that it was all downhill after that. Granted, my situation is nothing like Amber's, so you know, I had a pretty considerable leg up, but I don't see at all how a lowkey proposal sets the tone for a marriage. Plenty of over the top proposals still end in divorce- possibly because more thought was put into the proposal than in the ensuing years of marriage?

Yeah, some fansite posted pics of Maci wearing an engagement ring in real time (well, I guess I don't know it was an engagement ring, it was a ring worn on her left ring finger that looks like an engagement ring), so I think they do get engaged. However, he wouldn't be the first guy to purchase a "shut up ring" with no actual wedding plans in sight. Catelynn has been "engaged" for what, 5 years now?

I cringe whenever I hear Farrah squawk- shut up Michael! in that obnoxious voice of hers. Regarding the use of the first name- while it's probably mostly done out of spite to show disrespect, I think Farrah said once in an interview that her older sister always called him Michael (I think Farrah and her sister share a mom only- she's 6-7 years older than Farrah) and that's why Farrah always did, Don't know if no one bothered to break Farrah of that habit, or if even as a preschooler, Farrah was given to yelling at people to not tell her her business.

Leah did move fast, but in her defense, she had both Corey and Jeremy pressuring her into marriage (not at the same time, but over the course of the show). So, at least marriage with Jeremy was on the table when they started talking about babies. Maci, you are such a loser, you just got lapped by Leah. (I mean, I'm not saying a hillbilly marriage at 21 is something we should all aspire to, but it's clearly something Maci wants).

Her own LinkedIn account references Chattanooga State Community College and an AA. Granted it could be a fake account but there's nothing else official that lists a 4 year university, and I don't think she's ever named one that she was currently attending.

I suppose it's the easiest thing to just let her have her "conditions" and feel like she won, rather than haggle with her. I mean, while they frequently show the kids, Teen Mom has never been a show about parenting anyways. While Maci is boring, a trip down any fansite where the average viewer had/has a twitter account as a middle schooler shows she IS popular with a certain fanbase and a lot of fans are really impressed with her "principles". While I wish so hard production would call her bluff, I can understand why they'll just sign off on this compromise so they can all move on. By far, the worst thing about them agreeing to her terms is that Maci can pretend this whole time she was really prepared to walk if they continued to insist on filming Bentley, when instead I think Maci was testing the waters to see if she had enough pull to get Farrah ousted again (it's her or me). I would love to see the scrambling she'd have done if MTV agreed to release her from the show completely.

Hey come on now, that garage sale wasn't going to run itself. I mean, she had to miss class for that!Funny, in a very early S1 episode of Teen Mom, Maci drops her classes (in what I think was her first semester, prob spring 2009) because she said she had fallen too far behind. That *might* have been legit. Ryan was out of town for weeks on end, and Bentley would have been only about 6 months old. He wasn't in daycare then, and adjusting to college courses vs high school while figuring out how to take care of a newborn might have been challenging for anyone. Anyways, Ryan was pretty cruel, telling her she was lazy as fuck and that she would NEVER finish. While Ryan really isn't one to throw stones, Maci hasn't exactly proved him wrong in the 6 years that have followed. And yes, there's a huge difference between it taking 3-4 years to get a 2 year degree when you're working full time (probably at minimum wage or just above) and taking care of a child, vs it taking 6.5 (at last count, is she still graduating this month?) years, when your "job" consists of getting paid 6 figures to get manicures and go out to eat while being filmed, and you're leaving your kid with your parents for extended periods of time to bounce around the country). Look, school is not a priority for Maci. It probably hasn't been since the day she signed her first contract with Teen Mom. It's her own business, but I'm certainly not above mocking her for it. ETA- Maci has had her "marketing specialist" job for only about a year. She's not taking 6+ years because she's only taking one class at a time due to other commitments. She repeatedly has dropped classes midway through the semester then had to start over the next semester. She drops classes because she frequently skips them then can't keep up, so drops to avoid flunking.

Are you sure? I did some research on this and the writer of the blog is Ashley Majeski, who said she got her start blogging for fun about the Bachelor and then decided to expand after some Teen Mom comments she made generated a lot of hits, and then she writes articles for some other publications regarding reality TV. Also, there is a picture of her on one of the websites and she doesn't look anything like Ashley, Farrah's sister that we've seen on the show. And when she mentions Farrah's sister, she refers to her as Farrah's sister, not "me" . Also, her own website says she has covered the nightlife and television industries for over 10 years. I think Farrah's sister is 27 now. I guess she could have been 17 when she started but I think it's two different people.

It might not be one specific trauma though. It might be years of subtle undermining, insults, manipulation, etc- there may not be a particular reason she can articulate. And if there was some kind of abuse going on, sadly Farrah wouldn't be the first person I've known of to accept that abuse as normal and let the cycle continue by exposing her own kids without realizing the damage. Her sister (on the rare occasions she's filmed) seems to have the same type of relationship with her mom that Farrah has. One minute it's Ashley and Farrah against Debra, the next it's Ashley and Debra against Farrah. Weird, weird, weird family.

I was coming on here to post the same thing! Well, not about the stripper thing, but just about Maci talking about what conditions she would require in order to grace the rest of us with her presence. I wish so hard production would tell her to pound sand with her "conditions".

So it did. I was thinking it happened in Teen Mom, but when I rewatched 16 and Pregnant I stopped watching after Farrah delivered. That scene happened in the last 10 min of the show. Huh, so I guess Debra had the potential to ACT normal during most of the filming but couldn't quite pull it off 100% of the time. As the seasons went on, Debra either became less capable of acting normal, or just didn't care enough to hide it anymore. I think Farrah acted like a huge bitch the last 15 min of her 16 and Pregnant episode, so I feel Debra's pain having to live with her, but smacking your kid is not the way to go. I think Farrah was super overwhelmed by motherhood and Debra was like, dude, I told you it was going to be this way, which just made Farrah react even worse. You can't tell Farrah I told you so. Actually, you can't tell her anything. Her dad compliments her and she still tells him to shut up.

I just can't even figure the Abrahams out. Is the whole thing a joke and they're acting crazy for the cameras? I recently watched her 16 and Pregnant episode, which I had not seen since it originally aired. The family is...almost normal. Farrah is a cheerleader with friends (granted, they're high school girls, and they're in the catty popular clique where you can be ousted for not wearing pink on the right day or wearing sweatpants to school), but they all appear to have been friends before the camera rolled. And I actually blamed Farrah's friends for the eventual falling out they had, not Farrah (Farrah told them she was pregnant and asked them not to say anything, they told everyone, and when Farrah confronted them, in a somewhat reasonable manner, not at all the harpy she is now, they totally gave her the cold shoulder and treated her like shit). Most shocking is the relationship between her and her mom. They actually seem friendly, and Debra gives some pretty sound advice throughout the episode. In the beginning, when Farrah explains that Derek is becoming controlling, Debra tells her to just put some space in between them, and not encourage him in any way, and see if he backs off on his own. When Farrah is ostracized at school, Debra tells her that just because she is pregnant in high school doesn't mean she deserves everyone's scorn, and she needs to hold her head high because she knows the things people are saying about her aren't true. And she explained more than once that Farrah should enjoy her teenage years and strongly consider adoption; that it would be the most loving thing to do for her baby. And they go out to eat as a family and seem to get along well, and there are Farrah's cheerleading pictures posted on the walls- and they just seem so...normal. She was also pretty supportive during Farrah's actual labor, even though she had mentioned several times she didn't want to be in the delivery room, but when Farrah went into labor, Ashley was sick, the dad was out of town, and it was Debra or nothing, so Debra did it. It's almost sad to see in a way. Debra does come off as pretty bossy, and Farrah a little snobby, but nothing like the trainwreck they are now. And from almost the beginning of Teen Mom S1, the vibe had changed and Debra was crazy, and Farrah was a total bitch. I can't tell if something changed, or if they just managed to hide the crazy for the 5 months they were being filmed for 16 and Pregnant.

The only school that has been referenced in recent articles that I've seen is Chattanooga State Community College. But she has transferred several times. I don't think 6 years is crazy either, which is why I don't believe Maci is close to obtaining a 4 year degee. She has quit halfway through multiple semesters, dropped classes, transferred colleges (most likely losing credits), and has skipped some semesters altogether to travel.

That's probably true, given that Maci wasn't really able to articulate a reason for her objection, other than nodding along with what Taylor said. I don't count anything she said at a later date when she had time to formulate an argument. The only thing she said was "I'm not going to have my 6 year old son on a show with someone who did porn on camera" - like Maci, is there a way to do porn that DOESN'T involve a camera?? Isn't that um, kind of the point of porn? I just don't believe Maci is really that disturbed by sharing screen time with someone involved in porn. I think she's disturbed by sharing screen time with Farrah specifically, but she's grabbing on to the porn thing because she knows a lot viewers will back her up, and it sounds much better than,"I'm pissed because someone I can't stand that I've been wishing would fall flat on her face for the last 2 years has gotten her way and somehow convinced production that the show is not as good without her". Just my opinion as to what is really up Maci's ass about the situation. (Oh, so many jokes can be made thanks to Farrah...)

He might do all right in the local dating market though. It's really not hard to find a cute, thin girl with low enough self esteem to be impressed with what Ty Ty is selling. I've been around the bar scene enough in my early 20s to gauge about how well someone of his caliber would do. Also, what he would go for- he's not going to hit on a girl once he finds out she's a CPA or an engineer or anything requiring higher education, a good salary, and an ability to see through his bullshit. I don't think Tyler is a good boyfriend, but I also don't think he's with Cate solely because he thinks he can't do better, or even because he's worried about pissing off his "fans". I think the guy's emotionally stunted at 16, and will always feel some sort of tie to Catelynn. But I bet it's always an unspoken threat between them that he "could" get better if Cate doesn't toe the line.

All the fan sites are very ambiguously worded- they all say she is "working" on her bachelors, and is set to graduate "soon". The assumption then, would be that she is set to graduate with her bachelors soon. However, I think it is purposely misleading- I think by "working on" they mean "completing a step that could lead to an eventual bachelors". Some programs are set up (like, for example, a nursing degree) where you can earn a 2 year degree and then at some point, go back and get your bachelors, within the same field. Or, some people just go for a 4 year bachelors and don't earn an associates degree in between. I think Maci is doing the former, but purposely trying to make it sound like the latter. I don't know how much it really matters- I am sure Maci is earning a meager salary as a "Social Media Marketing Specialist" where I bet her duties consist of updating the company's facebook and twitter page from home, and the company can use her name to promote themselves while she uses her "job" as a way to promote herself as the most responsible, moral paragon of teen motherhood, defying the odds by going to school and working and supporting her child. And she'll only do it until she can lock down a husband and stay at home with her kids, so I am not sure in the long run what difference it makes what kind of degree she has.

That's a very pretty baby. Those are some serious blue eyes in that pic. I'm jealous. I don't care much for earrings on babies either. I see it quite a bit though, across the board as far as regions, ethnicity, religions, etc. go.

I think that argument would have a lot more merit if Maci followed through with her threat and completely cut ties with Teen Mom, but it appears that Maci is merely stomping off to pout in a corner and then will eventually be back. So, either she doesn't have that strong of an opinion about Farrah's profession, or Maci's own morals are for sale. Maci is not providing for her son via school and a regular job. She supports herself and her son with her teen mom money, same as Farrah. And her school career is dubious at best.

I thought Farrah had earned her associates too. But then I heard on here it was actually a certification, not an AA. As for Maci, I could be wrong, but the impression that I got was that her graduation date of Spring 2015 was for her Associates of Science in Media Technology, and her next step would be getting her bachelors.So technically, you could argue she IS working on her bachelors now, but the degree she is said to be earning this year will be a 2 year degree. But I'm getting all of this off Wet Paint and Ashley Roundup and other fan sites so I could be wrong. I would be shocked though if Maci was set to get her bachelors this spring given all the classes she's missed or dropped and entire semesters she's taken off, and I don't think she was ever a full time student (at least, not by the end of her semester). Anyone with better information feel free to chime in.

Derek's sister did agree to take a DNA test on one of the seasons of Teen Mom when Farrah was applying for social security benefits for Sophia and needed to prove paternity. I think it was ruled that it was 99% certain that Farrah's ex was the biological father, but SS denied the claim because there was no child support in order (the SS benefit exists only to replace a child support order that will go unfulfilled after the death of the non custodial partner). However, I think after that went down, the mother of Farrah's ex sued Farrah or threatened to sue Farrah and went to any media outlet that would listen to complain about Farrah, so I imagine that bridge is burned. Sophia's paternal grandmother is named Stormie Clark if you want to google her. I think the possible lawsuit might have also been an episode of Teen Mom, but I don't remember what season.

OK, if we are going off lowered standards (since none of the other girls have completed any level of post secondary education), then yes, Maci being on the cusp of receiving her Associates degree in Media Technology (that it took her 6+ years to earn, assuming she graduates this semester, which is never a sure thing) IS an item of note. I get what you're saying. Plenty of people (especially women) feel like porn is degrading to women, and the existence of porn sets women back decades and promotes a general disrespect. I don't happen to agree with that, but I have heard some well articulated speeches from those that do. However, it is still a bit unseemly to me if one were to speak out against porn but not say boo about domestic violence, drug abuse, absentee parenting, drunk driving, etc. That said, I don't at all agree that Maci has an issue with porn itself anyways- I think this is about Farrah personally and the porn is a convenient thing to hide behind because the views on it are so polarizing. It also makes Maci look good- all those that are against porn as a rule will immediately appreciate her speaking out against it.

I know. I think Farrah is a delusional, unlikeable person, but at least she has used her resources to get her foot in the door for multiple endeavors, from porn to publishing to whatever else she has going on. I don't think she'll ever be really successful because she is mostly uneducated, unwilling to learn, and can't take even the most constructive of criticism, but at least she's trying. All Maci uses her "fame" for is a few free drinks and comp'd vacations. She seems to have truly zero ambition to do anything other than post on her twitter and go on vacations with her friends or boyfriend. And Amber and Cate are even less inclined than that. I think Maci is of average intelligence, but incredibly undisciplined. I would bet that in high school, her classes were super structured and she was graded based on attendance, daily assignments, and quizzes and tests on which the teacher created a study guide and the students were graded by the completion. I bet she has never developed any kind of study habits, has no time management skills, and for college classes where your entire grade may be determined by 2-3 tests, can't manage to keep up, because her attendance and studying is so spotty. Cate and Amber, on the other hand, just seem like they maybe fall below average on basic intelligence. I mean, they're both lazy, but maybe they also have either a learning disability or are just not very bright. Can't figure Farrah out. I think she seemed of average intelligence during her 16 and Pregnant episode, and actually seemed to be the only one of any of these girls who could handle an unstructured learning environment, but maybe she's just not that interested in school. Her "I'm always right" attitude will do her no favors down the road. Think Teen Mom seriously emotionally and intellectually stunted all these girls.

Well said. Although I think it doesn't just "look" like sour grapes, I think it IS sour grapes. And really,how does porn conflict with sex education? I would think that those in the adult entertainment industry would actually be MORE proactive about safe sex and getting tested and properly using contraception than some 23 year old hick who managed to "accidentally" get pregnant twice.Really, if anyone is destroying Maci's credibility when it comes to her brand, it's Maci.
