  1. Doesn't Bentley also call Ryan's mom Mimi?
  2. Pretty sure Robbie has a kid. I think The Ashley reported he married the mother early this year. It's possible he learned from Corey's mistakes and used a condom, but Leah did say she was on the depo shot in high school. Probably one of the few moments of smart parenting mama dawn showed not only putting Leah on bc but also picking a method that didn't rely on Leah taking a pill every day.
  3. Yeah, I got the impression that even without Derek's possible abuse issues or the fact that he knocked up her daughter, Deb felt that Derek's family was beneath hers and that Farrah was slumming by even associating with Derek. Now, granted, a woman who has assaulted her own daughter on camera twice and came at cops while holding a knife doesn't have a whole lot of room to talk, but given what we know about Stormie Clark, I don't think she was the epitome of high class either. Regardless of Farrah's behavior, going to the tabloids was trashy, and suing Farrah for visitation rights seemed more about sticking it to Farrah than a genuine interest in Sophia (it seems to me that if you were really invested in seeing your grandchild, and you currently had NO rights, you might try the honey approach rather than the vinegar first. Stormie's lawsuit was completely without merit-legally speaking, not morally- and alienating someone that has all the leverage is rarely a smart idea). While I do have some ethical issues with how Derek was portrayed on 16 and Pregnant, if Stormie was acting out because she felt the same way, she didn't do anything to make her family look better.
  4. I couldn't agree more, and it's very sad. Ali, given her physical limitations, and her strong bond with Corey, will very likely be the one to break the cycle. Gracie and Addy just have next to no chance at all. Although I think both Leah and Corey love Gracie, they'll both always be distracted by Ali's needs, plus I think Corey might have a hard time looking at Gracie and not seeing the worst of Leah (both in looks and attitude) in her. I have no idea what kind of father Jeremy is/will be but he does not seem as devoted as Corey and I imagine Addy getting shuffled around amongst his extended relatives whenever she's not home with Leah. And I fear for all three girls what kind of trash Leah may drag in because god forbid she spend a weekend without a man around. Maybe Leah's sister will be a good refuge if she stays local? While I think Mama Dawn is an idiot, I do have hopes that she would step in and protect her granddaughters if she thought Leah was putting them in a position to be abused. Leah needs so much more help beyond a 30 day program and I don't see her ever getting it. Looking back, these behaviors and red flags were there long before she was a twice divorced mother of three. I mean, this is a girl who at 16-17, had unprotected sex with a guy she just met, that she didn't even seem to really like or feel any attraction towards. Not saying having unprotected sex with someone is okay as long as he's really hot, but Leah showed signs of desperation and low self esteem as a teenager and has only gotten worse with time. Add in an enabling family, a stressful domestic situation, and an addiction problem, and the prognosis is terrible. I really hope Jeremy's tweet about a new baby was speculation only and Leah at least will use birth control going forward- hopefully forever and with multiple methods.
  5. It appears that Leah's only standard for a partner is that the guy makes her feel desired. If this guy can sustain the energy it takes to daily build up her self worth, his employment, financial situation, looks, general character and personality are irrelevant. Just my take. Although it seems easy to only have one task to do, the act of constantly reassuring someone of their value is exhausting and Leah will never find someone who can keep it up indefinitely, no matter what other standards she lowers to compensate. It's very sad because I think Leah won't realize that and I think will continue to self destruct and add more children to the mix.
  6. That is what I was getting at. The poster asked why "people" were pushing Maci to get married. I responded that no one was saying Maci had to get married at this point, just questioning the logic of planning a pregnancy with someone who had clearly indicted they weren't ready for marriage. There's a difference between thinking someone needs to be married if they have a baby and thinking that purposely trying to get pregnant with someone who doesn't want to marry you is a questionable decision.
  7. We never got to see Roberto in person. I think he was someone she worked with and I got the impression he was out of high school. Farrah made a date with him while she was about 6-7 months pregnant and he was supposed to come to her house after she had dinner with her parents. He completely stood her up. That was the last we heard of Roberto I believe.
  8. It's not a good memory. I downloaded all four original 16 and pregnant eppys from Itunes last month. Derek may or may not have been a potential abuser, but most of the evidence against him (save for that one phone call) was hearsay from Farrah and Debra, who have been known to not have a great relationship with reality. I just don't think it was right of MTV to paint that picture of him after he had died and couldn't refute anything that was said about him.
  9. I just snorted water up my nose. Yes, in addition to conveniently showing up in middle earth, the eagles also perform daring rescues of horny teenage boys from Council Bluffs. Those middle aged soccer dads are no joke. Yes, anyone that watched the 16 and Pregnant episode knows that Farrah and Derek were not exactly star crossed lovers; in fact, Farrah hinted more than once that Derek was controlling and possessive, and then they aired that phone call between Farrah and Derek that sounded like it was lifted directly from those after school specials where the girl who has never had a boyfriend starts dating Johnny the football star, yet the audience can pick up on the red flags immediately every time they talk and all that foreshadowing leads to Johnny throwing naive girl down the stairs. Derek starts by asking her what she's doing that night, and then who she's going with, and will there be guys there, and ends with an ominous, I swear Farrah, if Roberto goes, I will never talk to you again. Not exactly gentlemanly, but that was the only direct evidence we got, as Derek passed away a few months after that scene, and Farrah and Debra had blocked his number prior to that. I always thought it was shitty that MTV aired that after Derek died, pretty much implying he was a potential abuser when he was no longer around to defend himself. And then a few years later, Farrah completely rewrites history that not only were they deeply in love, but they had secretly planned to be together after conceiving Sophia. Whatever, Farrah was trying to get with this Roberto while she was like 6 months pregnant.
  10. Maci specifically stated during a TM2 special in 2014 that the decision not to bring Farrah back was not the decision of any of the teen moms, but that production felt like Farrah was no longer conducive to the show's agenda (or something to that effect). It came off as very diplomatic and rehearsed. Maci also sounded appropriately regretful about it, which regardless of how the decision went down, was probably an act. So yes, with Maci, the truth is kind of a fluid concept. To me, it just sounds like Maci is humble bragging that the production was so desperate to have her sign on with them that they were willing to lie to her to get her in, and then yanked the rug out from under her by adding Farrah halfway through the season. I suppose that's easier for her to swallow than production truly having no intentions of bringing Farrah back when they planned the season but had to change their minds when it occurred to them how fucking boring this season was.
  11. Nice, Jeremy. Your parents must be so proud. And really, in the context to which he's referring, doesn't even make sense.
  12. Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me to learn Farrah had approached her mother about BC (prior to Sophia) and Debra said no, because she shouldn't be having sex. That kind of mindset bothers me. That said, even if you have the kind of parents who refuse to help you with contraception, I still say there's no excuse for not riding your bike up to Walgreens and buying a pack of condoms. The impression I got from Maci was that she got pregnant the time she lost her virginity, and possibly she only had sex with Ryan once before finding out she was pregnant. (Which, if Maci had lost her virginity while she was ovulating and conceived, it's possible she didn't have time for round 2 before getting a positive pregnancy text several weeks later). If so, then, just like Leah on TM2, really really bad luck, but still, these kids (particularly Ryan and Corey who I believe were both over 18) should have known better.
  13. Hee, those leggings. I don't really imagine that Tyler picks out Cate's clothes but I am cackling to myself over the thought of a 23 year old picking out those old lady dresses for his girlfriend. He's all like, hmm, I think this outfit could really use a scarf or a pashmina.
  14. I agree. My parents would have been really disappointed, but no one in my family would have threatened me with bodily harm if I got pregnant (which I find really disturbing, by the way). The one thing that might have frustrated my parents is if I had gotten pregnant while not using any kind of protection. Even in the late 90s (when I was in high school), I would guess about 80% of the girls in my class were on hormonal BC, but I bet a number of them didn't have to be (it seemed like using hormonal birth control to manipulate your periods was as common of a reason to use it as its intended purpose of contraception- no one wanted to get their period on spring break). It just seemed like in my area at least, birth control was seen as a practical thing and didn't have much of a stigma. I would be really, really, REALLY mad at my kid if they were having sex without using anything, whether it resulted in a pregnancy or not. There's absolutely no excuse- condoms are cheap and they'll sell them to anyone. If you're too embarrassed to buy them, you really shouldn't be having sex. I can't believe all these girls on this show (maybe not 100%, but well over the majority) who freely admit to having unprotected sex. But yeah, nothing is 100% and if my kid had an honest accident (in which she/he was doing everything in her power to prevent pregnancy other than abstinence), I would not disown them or try to induce a miscarriage. Well,I wouldn't do that even if they were irresponsible, but I would definitely cut them more slack in the former than the latter.
  15. @ Brooklynista- that is exactly what I was thinking, right down to the Teresa worship. I've long since thought Teresa embodies what Cate feels is the ideal woman/mother/fashion icon. In a way I find it kind of charming that Cate is so impressed by this ideal. Certainly better than modeling your life after one of the Kardashians. I'm so embarrassed I had to google Dorothy Zbornak. I never watched the Golden Girls. If the reference had been to Bea Arthur I would have picked up on it. Nonetheless, I had a good laugh.
  16. At this point, it would not surprise me if Maci was having irregular periods, googled it, and diagnosed herself with PCOS and read a few stories about women struggling to conceive. Maci is probably dim enough to believe that since she had never heard of PCOS (prior to her internet research) that most people also hadn't, and therefore would accept anything she said about it. I actually know people like Maci. I had a friend who had an irregular pap, did some googling, and became convinced she had cervical cancer. 6 years later she still talks about "beating" cancer.
  17. We never got anyone famous in the traditional sense. We did get Ace and CT from Real World: Paris the year before I graduated. I watched the show then but wasn't that interested in seeing them in person. I am not sure what they talked about, since I didn't know anyone else who went either.
  18. Agreed. It's probably nothing more than a Facebook/Twitter/Instagram photo op- here I am with an MTV star! I mean really, every single kid in that audience by virtue of being enrolled in a school has already surpassed Amber and Catelynn as far as educational accomplishments, and at least half of them probably have surpassed Maci and Farrah as well. When it comes to work history, building credit, and general development of job skills, probably most of the audience has lapped all four girls as well. Really, the only thing the teen moms have done that the traditional 4 year university student hasn't is had a baby in high school (and there are probably a few in the audience that can claim that as well). It's not like these girls really have any kind of wisdom to impart. I am not sure why colleges continue to bring in people from reality TV to speak to students but I guess there must be some benefit. I know in the early/mid 90s the Real World kids all got their turns at speaking engagements and it allowed them to put off employment for a few years.
  19. You know, I think Cate really likes the Church Lady look. Given her propensity for doilies and visiting B&Bs, I think she has this picture in her head of what an upstanding, classy lady should appreciate and that dress ranks high. I am actually a little surprised she's not more mortified by Tyler's bling and his tendency to wear baseball caps sideways. Ten bucks says Cate has bought some Dockers and left them in their closet as a major hint. Do it please. I especially love the idea of tweeting gym locations at him. It would probably only lead to an online bitch session though about how "haters gonna hate".

    Farrah

It's hard for me to judge Farrah looks wise because when I picture her, I automatically hear her voice in my head and that squawky, faux valley girl voice just makes me cringe. She's like Kristin Cavallari but 10 times worse. I do think she was cute in 16 and pregnant before her pregnancy bloated her face, and in the early episodes of teen mom. I've always conceded she had a really good body. There's one episode where Farrah's high school friend comes over, I think it was the first or second episode of the first season- and Farrah's friend was kind of overweight. I remember wondering if Farrah's friend was bothered that Farrah was much more fit than she was and Sophia was prob 6 months or less.
  21. Yeah, if Corey dared went to sleep without trying to bone Leah or tell her how pretty she was, Leah would conclude that Corey no longer found her attractive and would be on the phone with Robbie the next morning to give herself the ego boost. I don't find Leah that attractive, but she apparently was pretty popular in school. She's dumber than a box of rocks and doesn't appear to have much in the way of hobbies, so I think she feels like her only selling points are her looks and youth. I am not sure how she can go about fixing that though. She's not in a position right now where she can spend a ton of time and effort on her personal enrichment and growth. No good. A sex toy can't tell her how pretty and sexy she is. I think her interest in sex is much less about physical release and much more about validation.

    Farrah

Wow, I think Farrah and Sophia look a lot alike! Farrah definitely grew into her looks before she spoiled them with plastic surgery. So maybe Sophia will be more attractive as a teenager. Although knowing Farrah, Sophia may be getting cosmetic surgery well before 18.
  23. Well, in general I'd agree with you, but in Maci's case, she has admitted this was not an unplanned pregnancy. Exactly how included Taylor was in her planned pregnancy is a source of speculation only.
  24. But he would have to be similarly committed to staying in the relationship. I actually hope she does find someone soon that is in it for the long haul. The combination of Leah having three young girls, terrible judgement, and a desperation to be in a relationship, is just prime grounds for some very, VERY unsavory suitors. Honestly, Corey and Jeremy should consider ponying up for a background check for any dude that Leah brings home. They can take turns paying for it.
  25. In all fairness, Maci's status as being unmarried has been brought up. However, it was not a 'Now that Maci's pregnant/had a baby she must get married to the father or she's a ruined woman', but rather, 'Why is Maci purposely trying to get pregnant with a man who's clearly indicated he's not ready for a long term commitment to her?'
