  1. But what if Kelly and Carrie had to compete in the later seasons and not over 10 yrs ago, when radio, the industry favored the female singers? For the record, Kelly's latest CD is a sales disaster. Same with J-Hud, Jordin. The climate is even worse for females in Country music. The young, blonde cute girl singer (Emily) is a dime a dozen in Nashville. And personality challenged Tristan is only getting noticed because of her sob story.
  2. But Idol hasn't had a successful female alum (winner or non-winner), since Jordin Sparks. That was 9 yrs ago. During that period, Cook, Lambert, McCreery, Phillips dominated. The following is a good analysis of the changing trends with female artists. http://www.mjsbigblog.com/sales-news-week-ending-020416.htm
  3. On the latest Forbes list of highest earning Idols: 1. Adam Lambert 2. Carrie Underwood 3. Chris Daughtry 4. Phillip Phillips 5. Kelly Clarkson/Scotty McCreery
  4. But Fox isn't going to make changes (spend money) on a show that they cancelled. If they wanted top $ for advertising, they wouldn't have pulled it from May sweeps. Keep in mind that Fox can take the show off the air any time at their discretion. They are not obligated to find one last winner or even have a finale.
  5. It was FOX that cut the season short.
  6. But the show has already been cancelled. So why would TPTB care about appeasing the audience or ratings?
  7. Idol's ratings have been pretty consistent with last season. They were never going to find a superstar. Those days are over. And it has nothing to do with the age of the contestants. At 30, last year's winner was one of the oldest ever. I actually like the majority this year that have gone through. I think several of them have the potential of being launched.
  8. It was his performance of DMB The Stone. But it was a song J-Lo wasn't familiar with. And I remember the press piling on her for that. The Letter wasn't his best moment though. The show has gotten a lot of flack in the media for not producing successful winners in recent years and she likes to remind them that she was on the panel the season Phillip Phillips was on.
  9. From a strategic standpoint, it's never a good idea to do a song that was made iconic by a popular winner. Also, Jennifer Lopez was the judge that season and she continues to speak very highly of Phillip. The new Idols need to make their own iconic moments - that's how they will earn their creed. The same with building their own fan bases. I would never rely on the Idol fan base, since they are known to quickly move on once the season ends.
  10. Money. Phillip Phillips had made the Forbes list of highest earning Idols for 3 yrs in a row. There was the legal battle between Idol's 19 and John Mayer's management, whom 19 accused of stealing their most successful client.
  11. I would stay away from Volcano. That's considered an iconic performance from Phillip Phillips, who has morphed into one of the most successful winners. I would also stay away from the Adam Lambert comparison. There's only one Phil. There's only one Adam. They were successful because of who they are - not because they were similar to previous contestants.
  12. Oh, it couldn't be more obvious who will be in the Top 10. I can't see them making the same mistake of Season 12 - of putting through a bunch of mediocre guys. I don't think Tristian is TCO. Other than her back story, there's really nothing that interesting about her. And after her meltdown tonight, I question whether she is ready. It's only going to get tougher.
  13. What happened in the Lee vs Crystal match-up - Crystal began showing attitude by talking back to the judges. Lee not have not been the most dynamic winner, but it's not like Crystal has gone on to have a great career. The breakouts of Season 9 turned out to be Katie Stevens and Todrick Hall. Tori Kelly doesn't count, because she never made it to the voting rounds.
  14. Kim's kids should have been in school, not on this trip. It's a contradiction, since she didn't think the Million Man March was appropriate for her kids. The big fail really was Cynthia. She was the client and she should have shut down the Kenya jealousy tantrum with Kim. But I see how it was a slap to Kenya when Cynthia placed less importance on their friendship, now that Ne-Ne is back. I do see where Kenya really has been a better friend to Cynthia, the last few years than Ne-Ne. Yeah, Sheree must be desperate for that peach with all the tea spilling she did.
  15. I think someone like Phil Phillips is certainly a worthy winner. But I also think his post show success has less to do with Idol. Home is more identified by the general public as the song from the Olympics, than it is Idol, which is a good thing for his career. I think the show's failure to produce a successful winner, as evident with Nick, Caleb, Candice made the show irrelevant in terms of the industry, media. Also, the age of the show, the competition from The Voice are all contributing factors that eventually led the show to being cancelled.
  16. The ratings for I Am Cait were terrible, so I don't see how she can be an audience draw.
  17. Well, crybaby Justin is a jerk. I have no prob with Tanner and Josh. BTW, the guys were really cool to the track stars - letting them know where they left their cart. If not, they could likely have been eliminated.
  18. The alpha males have done very well through the seasons. Tanner and Josh are hardly annoying. Annoying would be crybaby Justin, the bickering paparazzis, the cheerleaders, the domineering mom.
  19. iwasish - They knew about the cross dressing - not about being transgender. The 2 don't necessarily go hand in hand. Caitlyn admitted she always knew she had the soul of a female - going back to when she was 4 yrs old.
  20. You're confusing the issue here. The family knew about the cross dressing - but not about being transgender. Not all cross dressers are transgender. I am also going to give Kris a pass here, considering that Caitlyn's 2nd marriage broke up because of that. And Caitlyn's mother has had a difficult time accepting it. Her sister Pam knew, but it was never brought up for 30 yrs. Kendall said that she's held off meeting her, because once she does, she will be saying goodbye to him forever.
  21. That's jumping to conclusions - and reaching for something out of nothing. I don't see how Kourtney and Scott splitting has anything to do with Caitlyn. In as far as Cory and the "grandpa" role - he's younger than Kourtney.
  22. I am not invested as to whether a female wins or not. Big Brother is not a skill based show like The Voice, Top Chef, Project Runway.
  23. I have no reasons to believe otherwise. The Dash stores are named after him. Kourtney named her first born after him. Kim and Khloe worked with. Khloe went through a period of losing her hair when he died. Kim had one of his shirts sewn into her wedding dress. Rob lived with him at one point, went to USC business school, per his father's wishes.
  24. Well, she can't be all that stupid if she eventually walks off with $500K by convincing a jury of her peers (whom she had a hand in voting off) - that she deserves to win. Hardly chump change for supposedly being boring. Skills? This is Big Brother - not Top Chef, not Project Runway, lol.
