Hold tight, fans. Going into the past (repeatedly) isn't enough!!! Next up we will go "sideways" a la Lost. And we will learn just as much here as we did there, which is to say nothing. Seriously, time travel can be an effective tool if used judiciously, wisely and — listen up TPTB — for a reason. One last comment which leads me to say that I realize my post is not cohesive. Then again neither is this show. But here's my comment: The best, simply THE best, time travel episode of any TV show was "City on the Edge of Forever.) (Star Trek TOS.) The stakes were high, and there were consequences paid. Best thing about last night's episode was Dog's origin story. Still, after all this time how has he not gotten eaten? (Don't misinterpret that TPTB!!!)

Better than I was thinking/hoping. Thank God they didn’t kill her. Too late to say, but Maria Bello managed to give this show some gravitas. She is earthy, down to earth, and can throw punch. Plus she’s older, which adds to her gravitas. I have no real problem with McGee, Torres and Bishop but they come across a bit juvenile. The whole 2nd story was a real distraction because it was so childish especially when compared to the main plot. Kudos to Maria. I think this may be the last season with Harmon/Gibbs.

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I noticed this too. It's funny (or sad) that In slow moments of any show I look at the characters' hair and say, "That doesn't like a firefighter, or a spy, or a lawyer." I lead a slow life.

I made a point to watch ... but I was bored. Sorry. I really don’t know how they’re going to stretch this into a series. And that’s where many science fiction tales fail. TPTB want a 7 to 8 year run, when the underlying stories only warrant, at best, 7-8 episodes. If they can make it last (usually while hobbling), it’s because they’ve introduced 3 or 4 primary “plots.” Think X-Files. The government conspiracy. Horror episodes. Funny episodes. The whole will Mulder and Sculy ever get together and stay together and what of their son. Back to Debris. Sorry. Boring. Even the leads seems bored with it all.

There’ve been a few articles suggesting there’s talk about bringing back Quantum Leap, which Bakula has been positive about. But, no offense, he might a little too old for that role or for taking on Enterprise. I could see him being a “special” guest star to get one of them off the ground. I think Bakula pretty much has his golden years set.

I have followed Bakula's career going back to Quantum Leap. One thing I noticed in last night's episode that really caught my eye was how easy his acting was, especially in the last few minutes (the scene where Pride and Rita talk about her job then look for the "misplaced" ring.) Both of them — as actors — seemed genuinely happy, with eyes-a-twinkling and whimsy right on the surface, and that's saying a lot given the pandemic. Sadly, as we know, it's not to last. Show's cancelled. But I hope the people behind this show can give it the send-off Quantum Leap never received. Personally, this 3-4 minutes might just work for me.

How long did Sam and Deeks spend failing to find a way into that building, yet when there were gunshots they ran and, what, magically found an open door?

A few days ago, I saw a few different articles suggesting Bakula may be in the running for — get this — a continuation of the (Star Trek) Enterprise series. Apparently, CBS wants another Star Trek series. These officials thought the Enterprise and NCIS schedules could be juggled enough to allow Bakula to it. When I read these articles, there was a lot that didn’t make sense. Now that I hear NCIS NOLA has been cancelled, I really don’t know what to think. (I also just heard that Harmon is thinking of leaving the mothership. Go figure.)

Magnum P.I. (2018) - General Discussion
DavidWeis1 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Magnum P.I. (2018)
I really found Higgins obnoxious in this last episode. Playing footsie under the table. Really? -
They’ve taken what I thought was a somewhat cerebral show and turned it into juvenile hi-jinks. It’s become painful to watch. Interestingly, like a few others above said, the best thing (and best performers) last night were the teenagers. I realize calling your new date by your former’s name is uncomfortable, but c’mon the way it was played was way over the top. Honestly, IMO, from the adult actors there was no one who sold me on the story or their characters. All of them are quickly becoming caricatures. This show needs to go bye-bye.

Didn't we have story like this once already? And what does Bull do? (That's rhetorical.) In this episode, as in many, he just sits there like a bump on a log. Sometimes – occasionally — we see him dabbling in jury selection but even then, he comes up with a generic question for Benny to ask. And I'm sorry — Benny seems to be too good an attorney to have to wait for Bull to suggest what questions to ask. (Sure, there might be times when Bull might be more clever . . . but have we seen any????) It seems like clients get more form Benny than Bull. If I were Benny I'd be thinking of making a coup attempt. (Yes, I realize there's the DA issue burning.) This show, I'm afraid, has gone off the rails of what it was intended to provide. The first season wasn't too bad . . . but then someone took a wrong turn and hasn't brought the train back yet.

I want to like this show. I lost my wife and I know how difficult it is to reenter the mainstream, but I am sorry — this episode was lame. And juvenile. Like someone above said, dealing with the daughters should have been a no-brainer, and the woman (sorry don't remember name) should have known better than to sneak into the kitchen with what she was wearing. It's almost gotten to the point where the teenagers are smarter than the adults. And that's not a good look on any actor. Another bigger issue: Where are we going with all this????

I wonder what TPTB has in mind for Rita. The job for the mayor would have been perfect for her. Anytime a leader of any kind (mayor, police chief, etc) is introduced on this show, I expect them to get assassinated, and their murder pinned on Pride. So, whenever I saw the mayor last night, I kept waiting for the "bang." Of course, we're early into this story.

I know. They made such an issue out of Eric having borrowed money, yet when Deeks has him on the spot — and Eric admits he has a ton of money had has even given some of it away — Deeks just sits there like a bump on the log. Apparently, Kensi is the one with a pair in their relationship, not Deeks. Then he decides to sell the bar which was a dream of his. What was Deeks thinking?

Admittedly, I haven’t been glued to the screen for each episode, but what I’ve seen so far is a show in which everything seems ... distant. Rarely is there more than two people on screen at once. The teams seems to be a team in name only. I contrast this with NCIS NO. I had always preferred the LA show. I liked the characters, and action, and repartee. But now LA seems to be going through the paces until the end of season (or show). But over on NCIS NO, you feel the tension in the air. I realize each show (like the mother ship) made their own decision how to handle the pandemic. But what LA is doing, I just don’t get, no matter the universe we’re in. And what we’re supposed to make of Hetty’s two minutes on if last night? I couldn’t tell if Deeks and Kensi were deliberately overplaying their reaction when Hetty appeared. So, when the show starts back up (whenever that’ll be), Deeks will be the 40-year-old at Police (er, NCIS) Academy? I’m NOT looking forward to that. I like Deeks, but it’s time he grows up.

I will scream if Pride gets swept up in some complicated cop vs mayor mess which will make it look like Pride is guilty of something. I hate storylines like that. And I will really scream if he gets shot by some dirty cop. The man needs a break.

The problem is that the audience knows about COVID. We’re living with it. So, to me, it feels like a cheat to see a show, in essence, ducking something that is big in the world. Plus, and maybe I can’t fault them for this, how do they know how and when COVID will be over? (Yes, thankfully, we seem to be heading that way.) I also understand there will be a delay between the now of the real world and the now of TV due to production schedules, but I think this was the wrong way to go. I prefer the way NCIS NO is handling COVID. But NCIS LA was always the less serious show (IMO).
-
I know TPTB was still trying to figure out how to deal with COVID restrictions when this episode was filmed. But c’mon ... we can do better than this, can’t we? It was almost funny to watch two people walking toward one another, then of a sudden they start looking around, asking, “Is this six feet?”
-
I liked this episode. And yes, I am sick and tired of COVID, but there was something about the tone that was sort of Twilight Zone, end of the world kind of of thing. It was familiar but also eerie. It gave me chills. Any guesses as to what the coyote was meant to suggest? I know this is a two-parter, so we’ll see more COVID next week. But then what? Certainly we won’t have a whole (albeit abbreviated) season with people wearing masks. But if not, how will the writers handle it?

IMO, the best way to proceed is to have our team (whoever that ultimately is) on the road. I think it creates more "new" experiences. To me, with the originak Star Trek series, I always liked the off-ship missions. (Keep in mind, and you will see this with any show, money ALWAYS becomes an issue. So, that's why you saw with the original Star Trek series stories that were set on the ship.) So if FTWD continues for a few more seasons—and it seems nothing can kill these shows, certianly not lack of quality—I can our team settling down, to save the budget. Not to be indelicate , I'm not sure how the wheelchair is going to play out in the ZA (I wondered the same thing when Hershcel lost his leg). It's okay now as long as they have the truck, but as we all know, they will run our of gas, or parts, or something. They will end up on foot ... or in a wheel chair. Then what?
