I just want to say that if this marriage works, and I think it will, there is something very special about being in love and being only with one person for life. I am an atheist who married my high school sweetheart. He was not my first kiss but, I was his and we were both virgins. We had sex before we married bit, we have never been with anyone else. We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and we are very happy. Love is a choice and an action not a noun. It is something you give not a feeling. In my waspy world, asking for money of any sort, or in any way is considered gauche. So, most couples end up with a bunch of gifts they don't need since they have already established a home. I think we should move toward down payment registries. That's the kind of thing that would help the couple these days.

Don't spend that kind of money to attend a wedding. You should never expect to be treated to a royal wedding or, that someone will spend a thousand dollars to attend your wedding. That money could be used for a down payment on a house.

I've worked in nursing homes and women age better with a little extra body fat. They are healthier too. So, as you age, fat is protective of your health and your looks. So, start eating ladies.

I don't think that is what he meant. It was a joke. He wasn't commenting on the worth of daughter, he was commenting on the state of his marriage and I went back to watch and they didn't pan to his daughter. They cut to her. If cameras followed you around and edited your comments together I bet there are plenty of things you do and say that would make you look like a total ass. They could do it to all of us.
