  1. I think Seth’s bandwidth took a hit, conferencing in for Jokes Seth Can’t Tell. His audio quality dropped a few times. But it was still funny and fun!
  2. Sir Patrick Stewart, world treasure: https://mobile.twitter.com/SirPatStew/status/1241871592700993536
  3. The big Chekov’s gun is the android body. Whose mind will get transferred into it next episode?
  4. The only other time I can think of was when she was reporting on kids being separated from their parents at the border. Both well-deserved moments of emotion.
  5. Stephen and Seth are my favorites. I’m so grateful to have some Late Show, but sad there’s no Late Night at all. Although I guess he has two really little kids, and even the bathroom wouldn’t be a safe taping space!
  6. It felt weird to me the first few minutes, not having an audience, but John had his rhythm and I stopped noticing it pretty quickly.
  7. Rios deleted random information from his holograms. So, what he deleted from the hospitality hologram was the understanding of personal space? Poor Raffi was bent over backwards, leaning away from him! Making people uncomfortable is a pretty big faux pas on the hospitality front. 😄
  8. Fortunately, he said the opposite! Stephen asked how he was doing and he said he didn’t know. Because he has no symptoms, but during the incubation period you could you have it and not know it. That monologue just felt ... surreal. To all of them, too, you could tell!
  9. There were a lot of bits in the cold open, but I loved all of them! Don Jr and Eric are always a favorite, but nothing topped Elizabeth Warren and breathless Kate dashing in from a quick change. The Sands of ... Modesto? That’s inland valley cow country! I loved the names, Debranique and Victavia. It is too bad the vomit gag was what they decided on as the button for the accent coach sketch. The actual funniest part was Mikey and Daniel with their hands clasped in front of them, vibrating out deep harrumphs in unison.
  10. I could so relate to the putting on a fitted sheet one! It perfectly captured both the real life experience of making the bed and the hilarious cheesiness of 8-bit graphics. Over on Seth’s YouTube channel there’s a compilation called The Women of Late Night in honor of International Women’s Day. I had not seen the Alabama abortion law sketch that it ends with, and it’s a powerful message.
  11. Just saw Emma. today, which was delightful! And I was happily surprised to see Tanya Reynolds (Lily) and Connor Swindells (Adam). Tanya gets to play an enormously stuck up gentlewoman with an over-inflated sense of self importance, and pulls it off well. Connor gets to deploy his silent imploring sad eyes again, to great effect. In this case his character was wronged—he was not wounded by his own actions—so it’s easier to sympathize. You don’t really get to see either until after the halfway mark. But they bring additional color to an already notable ensemble of characters.
  12. A place to share when Sex Education actors show up in other projects.
  13. They were strongly suggesting that happily ever after for Soji would be accepting Picard as a surrogate father and making a life with him as her family. But considering the two Romulans waiting in France versus the strong connection she forged with Kestra already, my HEA for her would actually be ending up back on Nepenthe.
  14. If you’d watched longer, you would have seen her pushing back more. On one question, on him getting fewer African American votes, she pushed like four or five times. (She did also explicitly say in the midst of it that she has always liked his policies/agenda.) Also, at no time last night did Bernie say that he’s losing this year because the system is rigged by the establishment. He talked towards the end about 2016, and how Hillary walked into the convention with 500 superdelegate votes already for her. He fought for the rule change that means that this year superdelegates won’t be counted on the first ballot, only delegates representing voters. And he very calmly said that if Joe has more votes than him on the first ballot, Joe won, even if it’s not the majority. Overall he was very respectful of Joe and Elizabeth, and is already talking about how the Democrats will be completely united against Trump. He just laid out his case for igniting enthusiasm with progressive policies versus candidates using corporate/billionaire money and supporting more corporate friendly policies. In general, he came across as collegial and willing to respect the will of the voters.
  15. Well... he was very dismissive of Eric’s religious beliefs. I like Rahim as a person/character, and liked that he was positive about his sexuality rather than abusively closeted, but I wouldn't say he’s perfect for Eric.
  16. Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster for John’s sane coverage. Just want to add that his meme dancing game is on point!
  17. I love it when a super dumb joke still makes me laugh out loud. This week it was Eric Trump and the Charmin Bears trap.
  18. Hugh wasn’t just tour guiding. As soon as Picard said Soji’s name he recognized who Picard was looking for, and took him down to the area where Soji works. While there, they saw a lot of things Picard found fascinating and Hugh briefly explained them, but they kept moving. Once they’d been through all the likely labs and not found her, Hugh checked the records and discovered she’d called in sick.
  19. “That’s universal child care, you jerk!” *fork stab* The best!
  20. Way to go, Hitler! (Do not take that out of context.) 😂
  21. To be fair, it has to be extra exhausting these days. They start writing a monologue and by an hour before showtime it has to be completely rewritten because 45 has pulled so many shenanigans. (And then the monologue is still missing whatever was even more late breaking, and that has to be tacked on the next night.) They’re basically preparing two shows for every one that airs.
  22. Such a great topic for John to start back with! Just in time for the primaries. The one other thing he could have explained a little more is the amount of money every doctor’s office has to spend on a (at least one) staff person who spends their time wrangling all the different insurance companies and their varying requirements. Even the doctors themselves have to spend a fair amount of time arguing with the insurance companies about, “I know that treatment / medication isn’t normally covered for this condition but for this patient it’s what I need to prescribe.” Sanders/Warren M4A sounds more radical but it’s the one that will actually drop medical costs. I suppose John could have also put up the rankings of world countries on medical costs, too. Ours are ridiculously higher, for outcomes that aren’t as good.
  23. Well, he’s just in time to be able to vote! Which I guess is the equivalent of dating that person to be able to take them to rehab? How about that entrance?! Feeling competitive with Jim Carrey? 😄
  24. Patton’s callback clapback on “I didn’t know you were so into censoring things” was masterful. I’m so glad Stephen gave it the recognition it deserved! Truly, their whole conversation was delightful.
  25. Beck’s Mitch McConnell impression in the cold open was outstanding! He got the round eyes down, and everything. The whole sketch was great. My other two favorites were Undercover Boss and PBS Science Room—both laugh-out-loud funny returns. I’m not normally a huge fan of Travel Expert Carrie Krum, but this time the timing and material clicked perfectly! (Especially cute, apparently there was a group of Floridians in the audience.) Melissa’s Oscars songs themselves were not my favorite sketch idea, but I still appreciated them as the message was pretty much exactly how I felt about the nominations. And it was funny that Michael had obviously been slipping jokes into Colin’s cue cards. Adam Driver really is an excellent host.
