I'm sorry it didn't work out with the guy she was dating for a long time, but I wonder if The View lost its window to having her be full-time before she met Mr. Cardenas. Interesting that her fiance is a Trump/DeSantis voter while Ana is pointedly not.

In normal times, I'd be rolling my eyes at three of the five women at the table being conservatives. But Ana, she's smart and funny and sassy and didn't sell her soul to support the current resident of the White House (hat tip to Whoopi for that one). I'm so freaking happy to have Ana there, even one day a week! And I hope it means Meghan is on her way out.

It sounded very threatening when someone brought up that Meghan's lying plagiarist husband wanted to have dinner with Joy, and Meghan said, "Oh, it WILL happen." Um, don't go, Joy!

Wait, what? Meghan said, "I have a problem with identity politics"? The woman who couldn't be Red Riding Hood last Halloween without putting a GOP elephant on her cape? I think the only "identity politics" she has a problem with is black Americans being primarily Democrats, which was the discussion they were having when she decided identity politics bothered her.

I'm always shocked that The Guest Book isn't as PG as My Name Is Earl, but I'm fond enough of the quirkiness of it to keep watching. I was delighted to see the band that performs at the end of the show made the cut and remained with Season 2.

This show is giving me life! Yes, the politics seem clunky at times, and there's still a lot of exposition (is that the word?) tying the old show together with this one, but I'm loving it. I love hearing my own brand of political snark come out of my television! I love laughing instead of being fearful about current events. I am so appalled and scared and angry about the state of world, and Murphy gives me a chance to laugh "with friends" about it. And how did I not realize that "Shannon" was Bannon? Brain cramp.

Isn't it funny how Meghan so adamantly and vociferously asserted that she had no interest in what was going on in John Mayer's bedroom, while at the same time reflexively defending a party that adamantly and vociferously tries to legislate (and demonize) bedroom behavior between two consenting adults, or what a woman can and cannot do as a result of sexual acts that result in a pregnancy? And remember when her "good friend" Charlotte's father Mike Pence shut down a Planned Parenthood clinic that didn't even perform abortions, but did do HIV testing and needle exchanges, which resulted in 250 people contracting HIV and the Feds had to come in and try to stem the largest localized HIV outbreak in this country in years? How does she reconcile these two things? So proud of herself for not judging John Mayer, but how dare Jane Doe from Indiana try to get an abortion. Supports a party that demonizes her "good friend" Clay Aiken for wanting to marry and adopt children and get healthcare for his husband, and maybe even have a bakery come up with a wedding cake. She's so defensive and inconsistent that she gives me a headache.

I believe it is exactly what you are thinking/dreading it is.

Another misuse of a common expression, something she does often. Not only is she not the only conservative at the table (Meghan, let me introduce you to your "good friend" Abby!), but a "token" representative is there simply for appearance's sake and never makes waves. This is the "Let Meghan Shriek Non-Stop View." She's hardly the "token" anything. This article really calls her out on that false equivalence. She may deny it, but that's exactly what she said. And the author is pissed as hell. Meghan McCain Needs To Shut The Entire F*ck Up

After significant weight loss, people look "misshapen" (for lack of a better word) for a few months while their body adjusts. My high school friend could always tell someone who had just lost a lot of weight. After a few months, everything gets readjusted and they usually look just fine. I'd like to see what John Goodman looks like around the end of the year, and I bet it's a lot less noticeable then.

My family members were told that we had an Algonquin ancestor - I even did grade school book reports on the Algonquins! As I got older, I learned that many white families talked up Native American ancestors to "hide" a black ancestor, just in case a darker skin tone showed up. In that vein (hah!), I had my DNA done, because I was very curious to know if our fabled Algonquin was really African-American. Turns out it is neither, and I am so white I have to put on shades to read my DNA report. It was very disappointing to not even have a whisper of an intriguing or mysterious contributor to the gene pool. On the other hand, I know a lot about the midwestern Algonquin tribes. So not only is Meghan mistaken (shocking), Elizabeth Warren was -- like many of us -- repeating what she had been told by her family her entire life. Until DNA, there was really no way to absolutely prove who you were descended from. I'm glad she was able to prove some Native American ancestry, but until this millennium, she wouldn't have been able to. We all go by what our families tell us. She is no different and I hold no hostility for her for doing what we did for centuries: Believe our family stories.

It's playing on a deep cable channel called START.tv, based right here in Chicago. Three eps a night. I love it, it's a schmaltzy show, but sometimes you need a happy ending, some young Kyle Chandler, and a ginger cat. It is the best I've ever seen of showcasing the real Chicago, the neighborhoods, the seasons, not just summer by the lake.

I just watched an old episode of Early Edition, where a princess is representing her country in her first diplomatic visit to the United States. Her handlers tell her to be completely neutral so she doesn't inadvertently offend someone or show favoritism ("What is your favorite thing about Chicago?" "Oh, I love everything about your city, I could never single out just one thing.") That's how I feel about Abby. She is in a difficult position, with her father being the U.S. envoy to Russia. She could never talk about someone holding her hair while she puked from too much bourbon and too many cigars. But, wow, is she bland. Totally beige with a hint of Republican Red.

It's on a cable channel called START, which I just found out is located here in Chicago. There used to be quite a few episodes on YouTube, too. https://www.starttv.com

It is 2..0..1..8. The biggest election of our lives is coming up, one that determines whether or not the current regime will continue to have its way without anyone to stop it, or if one of the three branches of government will be led by the opposition. Why the hell are we even talking about Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton's affair? FOCUS on what's right in front of us, View!

No one's life experiences should be either held against them, or whitewashed out of existence. I have Trumpsters as friends on Facebook, and they are always saying how nice it is to "finally" have a classy First Lady (racist much?) Every time I see that, I think of the photos of Melania half-nekkid on a train platform, holding a sniper rifle. And the implication that a white softcore model is better than a black Harvard-educated lawyer who had the audacity to dance publicly and show off her fabulous arms.

My favorite was when he said it was biased propaganda. (On FOX NEWS!) And he's name-calling a panel with two conservative panelists!

She and her mother did a NO H8 poster with duct tape over their mouths. It caused a stir because it contradicted John McCain's stance on gay rights at the time (2010).

The thing that annoys me most about her tweet isn't the completely weird picture, which she apparently likes. But it's that she says she's "getting back on the horse." The whole phrase is "getting back on the horse that threw you," or in other words, going back for another try at a task that defeated you the first time (or multiple times). It's probably just because she's MalapropMeghan and is using words she thinks are correct, but are not. In the unlikely scenario that she means what she is saying, it implies that The View defeated her? That The View is the reason she has been on hiatus? The View didn't have anything to do with the death of your dad, Meghan, and has been unwaveringly supportive of you - before, during, and after. If you truly feel defeated by the show, you're more a snowflake than originally thought.

This is a site to discuss - and yes, criticize on occasion - the content of the show. That is precisely why this forum exists. We can criticize the hosts. We cannot, however, criticize each other.

Me! Me! According to my DNA, I have higher amounts of Neanderthal DNA than most people do. Makes sense since my ancestors lived for centuries near the Neader Valley. Oh, topic? I would love to see guest hosts. Not someone they spend half the show slobbering over, but someone who will brighten up that table. It lacks "sparks." Even when Sara was on maternity leave, they filled in for her. I'm thinking it's necessary.

Sounds like an interesting week. I could use some calm, there has been sheer insanity in the news lately.

I see where Joy is coming from. I'm considered the crazy liberal in my family, but I am far more centrist than most of my friends. I took a Pew survey, and it turns out I'm about as liberal as Bill Clinton, and to the right of Barack Obama. I think how liberal or conservative a person is judged to be is taken by the opposing view of the person doing the judging.
