  1. Just a thought - when she loses her shit, she gets red and spotchy on her upper chest. Do you think they're trying these church-lady matronly blouses a preemptive strike against her giveaway "tell" that she's freaking out? Also, another tic of hers is that she strokes her hair as a self-comforting move when she's stressed. We saw it a lot when she first joined the show. At her father's funeral, when she was doing the eulogy, her hair was up, and I caught her reaching up at one point to stroke her hair, which of course wasn't there. I don't think the hair flip yesterday was a defiant one (although it was a terrible time for her to do it, right after she blasted Joy). I think she realized what she had done and immediately went to her stressed-out "pet my hair for comfort" move. I think the second the bile came out of her mouth, she realized how bad she sounded.
  2. I have relatives who love - love! - all the Hallmark movies, and they are just so disappointed in reading about her behavior. They are her core fan demographic. I think she has lost them, and if they are typical of her fan base, they aren't coming back. I was very disappointed to see Meghan at the table today. IMO, she really needs to be disciplined for yesterday's behavior.
  3. And frankly, so would mine. It just so happens that my least favorite panelist said that to my favorite. But it's rude, ugly, entitled behavior that doesn't belong on this show (or in real life, for that matter). For me, at least, it wasn't Meghan vs. Joy. It was a snotty, entitled thing to say and no one deserves that.
  4. I am nearly in tears of rage over this. In what world does one speak like this? People should know, and most do, never to speak that way. And especially to an older person, to a co-worker, and / or to someone who has been on the job 10 times longer than you. If Meghan is allowed to get away with this, she's going to push the envelope farther and farther and get more and more obnoxious. If I were Joy, I'd literally force the issue if TPTB don't do something to discipline the blond harpy. I would literally say, her or me. In the new book on The View, Joy said that she enjoyed her time off when she was fired, sitting on the beach with her husband. I would hate for Meghan to be the one to make her go back there.
  5. I found the entire table's treatment of the fake Uber driver/murder story to be off: Abby said nothing good happens after midnight. Victim-blaming! We all have the right to be safe no matter what time we're out. Meghan's joke: Don't get me started. Whoopi and Joy tried to chime in with "tricks" like, "Make the driver say your name" and "Don't separate from your friends." I drive for Lyft, and there is no trick necessary! Your rideshare company will send you a photo of your driver, his/her car, and the license plate along with confirmation of your ride. Just make sure you are getting in the car with the license plate that's displayed on your phone. Visually confirm your driver. (Drivers also get a photo of the passenger they're picking up.) I don't understand getting in a car that stops for you without confirming it's YOUR rideshare. I feel terrible for the young woman. What a tragedy.
  6. Dorothy Breininger said that this week's episode is the last one of the season, and it will have Matt Paxton!
  7. Is Abby's hair like six to 12 inches shorter?
  8. Interesting, it wasn't until the DeVos discussion that I realized that The View is missing a regular ol' middle-class voice at the table. The Daughters were raised in wealth with the privilege and fame that goes along with it. Joy was raised in a blue-collar family. Ana was an immigrant whose family really pursued the American Dream. Sunny and Whoopi were both raised in the projects, and worked hard to get where they are now. They need someone with the upbringing of Debbie Matenopoulos or Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Someone who went to good public schools, someone who didn't have a Porsche in the driveway (maybe a Ford, but Dad aspired to have an Audi), someone that I imagine most of us can identify with. Right now, it's not there.
  9. Probably another "middle of the country" state in her mind.
  10. I had a controlling (now former) friend housesit for me over the summer a few years ago, and -without notice and certainly without my asking or consenting - she completely overhauled my house. She threw stuff out and reorganized everything from silverware drawers to cabinets to closets to changing my brand of cat litter. The feeling of being victimized was overwhelming. I can only imagine how that would feel to someone mentally ill, who drew no distinction between themselves and their stuff. I can see people committing suicide over it.
  11. I've been preoccupied this week, so a few round-up comments on the shows: I thought Meghan looked the best she ever has on Wednesday. The solid color dress, the long hair, the soft makeup: nailed it. I had never heard Stacey Abrams speak before. Wow, she's good. I would vote for her for any office she ran for. Intelligent, unflappable, informed. Please, can we have more of her, and more like her? Elisabeth needs to lighten the fuck up. Crushes are silly; crushes are fun. I have a million crushes and I take them as seriously as I take what I had for breakfast this morning. For her to distort it into "lesbian grooming" shows her hatefulness and judgment of someone who is a much better person than she is, whether or not she carries a Bible. Elisabeth was always about empty, emphatic gestures, trying to demonstrate what a good and righteous person she is, rather than actually doing something that makes the world a better place.
  12. I can tell you exactly how she got that way, and I can't believe it's going to come across like I'm defending her, but here we go... My dad remarried later in life, and had three kids. When they were tweens, my dad (who was the authority figure in the family) got very ill and pretty much checked out. My stepmother was a very passive woman who couldn't make a decision to save her life. So the oldest kid still at home, who was around 12 at the time, had to step into the role of family decision maker. Someone had to be in charge, and it fell to her. Poor kid. (I was living 2000 miles away and didn't know what was going on.) She had to bully her parents, and be in charge of the younger siblings. To this day, three decades later, that's her personality. She's known as "The General" to her family. She still bullies everyone and tries to herd us along. But that's what her dysfunctional family life created. That's how she coped. And going back on topic, that's what happened to Donna. Dad abandoned the family in 1986 - Mom went crazy trying to be a teenager again - someone had to be in charge and that was Donna, the oldest. And as mean and controlling as she is, that's what her dysfunctional family made her.
  13. But she has certainly turned on her "bastard uncle" Lindsey Graham. The icicles formed on the words as they exited her mouth last time she talked about him.
  14. Just curious - why do silver leaf when you could probably spray paint silver and come up with something just as nice? Am I hopelessly naive?
  15. Meghan is so tribal (TM) that she seemingly can't differentiate herself from those she aligns herself with. If Joy, for example, mentions the Republican Congress members support something, she will shriek "I DO NOT!" - she can't see that there's a line separating them. Her family has been big shots in the U.S. military for generations, so she's totally allied with the military - even though she has served her country as much as "Cadet Bone Spurs" has. She doesn't even seem to realize that she's a wholly independent being, who can admire someone or something without taking on their identity.
  16. He was on early in 2019 and irked many of us by saying that the Mueller report would end up being a nothingburger. When I looked him up, it turns out that he is ABC's chief White House correspondent and very much respected. In fact, he was the target of Trump's craziness when he asked Trump about whether or not he would sign something ending the government shutdown and Trump repeatedly asked him what his opinion was, what Karl would do in his place. It was ugly, and at the time made a lot of people in Washington say how fair Karl was, and how he didn't deserve that kind of bullying behavior. Of course, the RWNJ press excoriated him for having the nerve to ask the question. ‘Do you think I should do that?’ Trump taunts ABC News correspondent
  17. I just keep going back to Dallas saying that cockroaches and mice crawled on him while he was asleep at Grandma's. That is my worst nightmare. It's literally my idea of torture. I see that whole family with flat voices and it breaks my heart. What terrors and emotions must be hiding inside.
  18. I recently inherited a 120-year-old family home that was last modernized in the 1970s. With all the antique furniture that came with the house, I want a country kitchen! So I was hoping to catch some tips from Frank on tonight's show... guess it's gonna be reruns for me. I did not like either room tonight. They really did look like stage sets rather than living spaces.
  19. Does anyone have an idea of how old Linda is? She had such a flat affect and such unfocused eyes that it was hard to tell.
  20. She's obviously very, very mentally ill. No one takes a dump in someone else's clean bathroom next to a toilet, and doesn't see anything wrong with it. I'm so glad she's not in the daughter's house. She is toxic, she messed up her daughter, the grandkids, and her dogs. She is a foot of excrement in human form. It did say that someone is checking on her weekly, right? I can't believe that she moved back in, but it's very possible she had nowhere else to go. Rural Indiana doesn't have a huge amount of choices. And with her possibly clearing only a few thousand dollars from selling her home, she probably had nowhere to go. I'm just so happy she's not with her family. I'm a compassionate person, and that's a hard sentence to type. But she ruins everything and everyone she comes in contact with. She doesn't deserve to be with anyone she can hurt any more than she already has.
  21. I was not impressed. It seemed like a watered-down version not only of Trading Spaces but also of While You Were Out. I agree with everyone's opinions on Hildi, but hell, that was the only interesting part of the show. I'll give it another episode, but I was less than riveted.
  22. That, I think, is a core belief of hoarders. They'll get around to it. My grandfather, a brilliant scientist, hoarded up his home with stacks of YEARS of Wall Street Journals, and wouldn't let anyone throw them out, got angry if it was suggested, because he was going to get around to reading them. He was in his 80s at the time. He wasn't reading the WSJs that came to the front door every day, but he was firmly convinced that he would eventually get to the ones that came five years ago. The only time that line of thinking works is if someone has put aside projects to do when they actually do have time, like retirement. I just turned 61, and I am cluttered (definitely not a hoarder). I figure I have maybe 20-25 more years on this earth, so I'm actively trying to work toward completing big projects I've started (genealogy, family photos, etc.) precisely because of this show. I like the new format. I always felt like so much was rushed with two hoarders/48 minutes. As I said earlier, towering piles in toilets and dead animals -- that I can't watch. But I like going in-depth with the family. I thought Dale's son and daughter-in-law were very relatable and very honest with him, without going toxic (as many of us would). I liked them. Am I correct in remembering that the DIL was using canes to get around? If so, she has a special reason for not wanting to inherit (and disassemble) the hoard.
  23. I know that Dorothy the Organizer has mentioned that her show airs around the 20th (too lazy and tired to look up the exact date). I hope David Tolin is involved in this season. He's absolutely my favorite in being direct with the hoarders. As long as they don't show dead animals or piled high toilets, I'm fine with whatever format they show. I kind of like the two-hour version, as it seems like there were always huge questions marks left in the hour-long shows.
  24. And if memory serves, she denied that there was a blue wave right after the results came out. Yeah, I'm not going to use her particular crystal ball. Has a red tinge that makes it inaccurate.
  25. I watch daily, and I don't remember Whoopi looking or acting sick before she left for medical reasons. Does anyone remember? @suomi, I am so sad to hear about your mom. My mom was in a nursing home during recovery from surgery, and so was I. If I'm ever in that situation again, I will definitely remember your story and heed your advice.
