  1. Airdate: Thursday, April 24, 2025 Synopsis:
  2. I've long said that the only truly stupid people are those who think they already know everything. The guy in the White House is their poster child. A Black man who was President of Harvard Law Review! 😄
  3. I was SO happy that Kamau won, and possibly even more so because a million dollars is going to Donors Choose! Teachers across the nation must be doing the happy dance for that!
  4. Well, Cohen is a writer for The Daily Caller, a right-wing rag, founded originally by Tucker Carlson, so I'm thinking it's not a joke. 😠 The RFK, Jr. autism registry story has had me anxious snd furious since last night when I bookmarked this article. It's been updated with new info since it wss released yesterday. State of the art protections, my ass. I wouldn't trust these bastards with my grocery list, let alone our medical records. I'm off to check the dockets to see if a lawsuit has already been filed, but many of these supposedly protected health records are already available through various governmental departments. 😠 Why is all of this not just one massive HIPAA violation? RFK Jr.'s autism study to amass medical records of many Americans https://www.cbsnews.com/news/rfk-jr-autism-study-medical-records/
  5. We sure haven't been getting a 12 minute Judges' Table this season! That's been one of my biggest disappointments.
  6. Don't let Sheldon hear you speak those words!
  7. I do understand that Dimity was talking about a one-click reaction button, which is different, but doesn't everyone else use the emoji button above the comment box? Click on that and it brings up emojis for everything. I took a screenshot and circled the emoji button. (I'm on an Android, but I assume there's a similar layout on iPhones, etc.)
  8. Paging Mike Flynn, General Mike Flynn... 😒
  9. The parallel between Pope Francis meeting with JD Vance yesterday and Queen Elizabeth II meeting with then-new Prime Minister Liz Truss in 2022, where both the Pope and the Queen both basically said, "Nope. I'm out," is hard to ignore. 😄
  10. I finally watched this episode tonight, but I already knew that David had won this semi-final because his name appeared in the episode thread title for the final that was posted a few days ago. Big spoiler. 😒 I had really wanted Sean Gunn to win, but would have had a tough time choosing between Sean and Kamau to win it all. I'm Team Kamau all the way now. Of the three semi-finalists, the FJ category of "Film Festivals" would seem to have been more in Sean's wheelhouse, which is likely why he felt comfortable making that big bet. The clue really was based on knowledge of geography or recent history, though. It was an instaget for me. Even though in an earlier CJ episode, Ken tried very hard to reassure one of the contestants that the clues are not made easy for them, this episode absolutely disproved that for me. When I go 5/5 in a Shakespeare category, it's definitely Shakespeare For Dummies and, I also stink at anagrams! 😄 It was a good episode though. No fooling around. They all came to play.
  11. Although of lesser consequence, but not unimportant, several forum members have mentioned DJT's transformation of the Oval Office from traditional and professional to gaudy and tasteless. British art historian Dr. Bendor Grosvenor has contributed a 15-part BlueSky thread, each skeet(?) containing a photo, analyzing the accelerating glitzification of the Oval Office and what it may stand for to DJT. I'm attaching a screenshot of the opener below. I am particularly disturbed by the removal of the ivy plant given to JFK by the Irish Ambassador in 1961, which has been a staple in the Oval for SIXTY-FOUR YEARS. Where is it? Was it placed in another location or did DJT just tell someone to throw it away? You have to click "Continue Thread" after the 10th skeet in order to get to the final five. https://bsky.app/profile/bendorgrosvenor.bsky.social/post/3ln3ro2cd7c2e

    MLB Thread

And yet, here they are with one of, if not the, best reliever in MLB pitching the 8th instead of the 9th he EARNED last season. 🤦‍♀️ Yesterday's horrid loss is on Boone. He did the right thing by having both the closer and an alternate warming up in the top of the 9th, but once the Yanks had the four-run lead, SIT WILLIAMS DOWN! (Yes, I was screaming at the screen.) Why have both of them warming and then not follow through with the situation you prepared for?
  13. It was way back in the '90s but my two sons sure could! IMO, if one year olds can't smash a standard cupcake, we've failed as a species!

We Want the Funk is now streaming on YouTube.
  15. I completely agree with you on this. Every single awful topic you listed is very important, yet hardly even gets mentioned because there are dozens of other actions taken each day that are even more deplorable. I hadn't heard about the elimination of Head Start. That is reprehensible. I wish I could say I was surprised. Like USAID, Head Start is a program that is proportionally next to nothing in the overall budget, in fact it's habitually underfunded, but the return on the investment is worth every penny. But, as they consistently show, elected Republicans and those who vote for them only care about embryos and fetuses. Once they're born, they're on their own. I share your concern about the cuts to environmental and scientific programs. I learned of another disturbing one earlier this week. Living near the Atlantic coast, I pay a lot of attention to information from NOAA. This report has me both furious and concerned. There are hundreds of items on the list, which is linked in the article's first paragraph, which will all disappear in the next two to four weeks. A lot of this information gives evidence to climate change, which is clearly why they want it destroyed. I hope that climatologists across the US and worldwide are archiving the datasets. NOAA Datasets Will Soon Disappear https://eos.org/research-and-developments/noaa-datasets-will-soon-disappear
  16. The photo is doctored, but even if it wasn't, it's a photo of a hand. It could be anyone's hand! 😄 Of much greater relevance: Disgraced Maryland police officer tied to 2019 Abrego Garcia gang report https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2025/04/17/maryland-police-officer-report-abrego-garcia-prison/83141240007/ Also,
  17. For those who are saying that Massimo's a good guy, I'm going to assume that you don't watch the Top Chef offshoot, The Dish With Kish. During last week's episode, Kristen was cooking with Sara Bradley, who was a guest judge for last week's Top Chef episode where Massimo was paired with Paula for the Elimination Challenge. Here's a YouTube link to the episode. You don't have to watch the full episode, but If you fast forward to 3:47, you'll see Kristin introduce a clip that didn't air on the main show of the "tension" encountered by the judges as they approached Massimo and Paula's station. You'll see why Paula wasn't exactly thrilled to discover that they were going to be teamed up again this week. JMO, but Massimo's a misogynistic DB. The quicker he gets off my screen, the better. I'm not thrilled that he has immunity in the next challenge.
  18. Sneak peek for Episode 7.
  19. Week 32: 3/5* (Tu, W, Th) YTD: 74/160, 13* (46%) Edited to add a soundtrack to the dish brought by @Prevailing Wind 😉
  20. I'm overwhelmed. Sitting here crying. I've been thinking the worst for quite some time. Senator Van Hollen is a hero. Now let's get him back!
  21. No worries. I think we all understood. 🙂 FYI, for future reference, clicking the three dots in the upper right corner of your post, will pull up an edit button so you can make corrections.
  22. ^^^THIS! Here's what I've been thinking about: Do you remember early in the first Trump administration, there was a young Black soldier who was killed in Niger? After many days had passed, the Commander on Chief finally deigned to make a condolence call to his young widow, who was pregnant with their child at the time of her heroic husband's death. To this grieving woman, Trump said, "Well, I guess he knew what he was getting into." Every single one of these Republican electeds took an oath to uphold the Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic, just as that young man did. So, I say, "I guess you knew what you were getting into." Be brave and do your sworn duty! (Here's a 2017 link to the story of Trump's disrespect to the widow of Army Sgt. Johnson.) https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-told-la-david-johnson-widow-that-he-knew-what-he-was-getting-into-congresswoman-says/
  23. Music geek here. FJ wasn't quite an instaget for me, but I did get there quickly. I've always loved '60s R&B, so last year when I learned of the MAX docu-series Stax: Soulsville U.S.A., I was excited to watch it. (It's still streaming on MAX, for anyone who's interested and it's very good.) I did know that Stax was based in Memphis, but watching the doc certainly refreshed my memory. Memphis led me to the assassination of Dr. King and I saw the photos from the motel balcony in my mind and was able to recall its name. I was not aware that the motel is now the site of the National Civil Rights Museum, so thanks Jeopardy! I've been reading about the museum, which is centered around the Lorraine Motel, but also includes other buildings in Memphis that are relevant to the Civil Rights Movement. https://civilrightsmuseum.org/ (Said music geek is also a museum geek. 🤓)
