  1. From Wiki: Port Charles, New York, is the fictional setting of the ABC Daytime soap operas General Hospital and its spin-offs Port Charles and General Hospital: Night Shift. It was revealed that the Queen's Point setting of The Young Marrieds, a short-lived sister series to General Hospital that ran between 1964 and 1966, was a suburb of Port Charles. Locations within the town are described, below, using in-universe tone. Port Charles is believed to largely represent the city of Rochester, New York. [emphasis mine]
  2. I think Port Charles is supposed to be a fictionalized version of Rochester, NY. I don't know where I heard that but Julian and Kim mentioned that NYC is only an hour flight away. According to Google, BUF-NYC is a 6.4 hour drive. ROC-NYC is a 5.5 hour drive. To this old jet pilot's mind, the ROC-NYC is more of an hour flight distance. BUF-NYC is probably 1.5 hrs. gate to gate.
  3. I'm watching via a Britbox or Acorn account through Amazon Prime. ETA: We don't have regular cable. We only stream.
  4. As for Olivia being ridiculous in the show yesterday, I thought she was being in character for what they wrote her as: an hysterical Italian mother protecting her son at any cost. That is a cliche stereotype and I found it insulting but I don't want to get self-righteous on someone else's stereotype. I don't have a dog in that fight.
  5. They knocked that out of the park, didn't they? Wonderful scene.
  6. I only mentioned the money because the missing $1M shouldn't be a motivation for Jason and Sam to be interested in Shiloh.
  7. That seems to be the answer -- the Corinthii hitman team are interested in the memories because of Shiloh......but I've been watching since then and I'm not clear why. I know Shiloh thinks there's $1M (cue picture of Dr. Evil) floating around somewhere but the Qs are rich. Presumably, so is Jason. I know Shiloh has done mean things to Sam (what with the whole freezer fiasco and such....) I know there is some WSB connection -- but that is a mystery to me. Is there more? Something obvious I'm missing?
  8. I muttered up thread about Franco's appalling physical performance as a member of the military (enlisted? officer?) He looks like he's got jock itch. It does make sense to me that Jason (and Sam) are interested in Drew's memories (of which Franco is now an integral part) but I didn't see the switcheroo when Miller arrived to take over the part of Jason Morgan so I don't know the particulars of why. Also? I stopped caring to even ask because the show is so all over the map with continuity in that plotline, I can't possibly keep up.
  9. I think what I enjoy most out of the "trying to outdo itself" show is that I can see the show in comic book format -- when I watch the actors perform, I can visualize it on the page. I don't know if that makes sense or not but it's something that I really like about it. The plot is all but gone so I'm not in it looking for any sort of resolution to any sort of beginning/middle/end structure.
  10. I'm a war veteran of over 21 years -- I'll never understand why actors who think they're being all "military" have to stick their dicks out in front of them as they walk, spread their legs when they stand, and scowl all the time (they make me think they are trying to walk in the middle of a genital herpes outbreak.) Franco's physical performance and the dialogue were painful to watch. (BM is great at it, he's totally believable to me -- he acts like a veteran who has normal mannerisms until the military training is needed.) Liz, yesterday, exhibited nothing more than "the worst nurse ever" behavior. This man has been through an unknown chemical transformation -- her bedside manner can't have been what's in the text book. And, if we're going to claim, "Yeah but it's her husband and she's emotionally invested!" then she shouldn't have been in the room. It was all very disappointing for my tastes. Yesterday someone said Billy Miller is coming back (not true, asfaik, and I can't remember why they said it) and I thought they meant Billy Warlock. That's how old I am. LOL
  11. I enjoyed The Killing very much although it was very slow for American audiences and fizzled out.
  12. The best adaptation from the UK to the US (I think) was Broadchurch. Part of the success was that David Tenant was able to star in both. Interestingly the UK version itself was an adaptation of a European/US original/homage trope of the murdered child -- Forbrydelsen which morphed into The Killing. I loved them all (except I'm not that much of a fan of the US Broadchurch.)
  13. Oh, they are a joy for me to watch. Cameron still has that "jazz hands" high school melodrama in his physical acting but I think Drew is outstanding -- he has the ability to bring subtlety that I haven't seen in this cast in a long time.
  14. I watched in the 80s and in the naughties. I stopped for the soap merger. I have returned in the past few months. I am so baffled by the Drew/Jason who is whom thing that I gave up asking. I'm just along for the ride and the sheer enjoyment of watching Cameron and Drew on screen together because...right now....even given my lack of knowledge...it's clear they are played by the best two actors in the entire cast.
  15. I'm of two minds about Shiloh and both are answers to why I can't stand him but begrudgingly respect the actor. I'm sick of seeing smug men abuse people and cause serious injury or death. We're getting enough of that in real life. I begrudgingly respect the actor because he's bringing the smug to such levels that I am revolted. I can't fastforward on the television I watch (on the treadmill) but now I tend to change channels while he's on unless there is some form of retribution in the scene.
  16. I don't know if this is a UO or not -- but as much as I enjoyed Tamara Braun's Carly (and I sincerely did -- except for the chicken arm flailing) -- I can't stand Kim. She's that sappy, smiley side of Braun's acting that we were spared when she was Carly. It's so unbelievable. I, too, thought she was going to snap Carly's baby right out of her tummy there on the green fields of the random park*. Blech. *Although, yay for spending money on exterior shots. I've always enjoyed it when soaps go on location.
  17. A viewer can hope.......But, as you can tell, I haven't been around for a long time. I stopped watching again when the soap merger happened. Just getting back into it. Have to admit it's much less fun.
  18. It's so hard to defend this show, I swear to God. But here goes: Perhaps (by all means laugh at will) by showing Jason all steely and determined (rather than emotional), they are implying that Sam is just as capable of saving herself. In other words, Jason may get violent and unhinged and kill Shiloh (yes, please, get him off my screen forever) before discovering where Sam is. We know, since Princess Leia graced our collective knowledge, that hell hath no fury like a kidnapped spunky brunette. At least, that's how it came across to me. The thing that immediately crossed my mind was -- her wrists are tied, but her hands are effectively free. She can tear that tape off her mouth and bite (then tear) the tape on her wrists. The freezer is only covered by a rattan chair and a straw basket. She can get out of there. Because she's spunky! (Heh.)
  19. That's very helpful! Is the one who doesn't like Willow Nina? Is she the same one who has the relationship with Dr. Who and the drink poisoning at Windemere? I like that actress. Eva is alternatively evil and then weirdly comic? Sasha is the limp noodle, I get which one she is. There's a lady who hangs on Jax -- is alternatively appreciated and then misogynistically ignored by Jax -- I think that's Nina, too. They had a testy encounter at the Metrocourt a few weeks ago. And then, with one of the brunettes (the very new one -- Hayden?) he was all out of sorts in a hotel room before going over to Windemere to get the poisoned drink (I missed that episode.) I think I'm getting these ladies figured out.....LOL. Thanks for the patience. Meanwhile, is Lucas' husband supposed to be dumb as a brick because I have yet to see him be anything but...kind of dumb. No more OT for me. Thanks for the patience, seriously. But I'm dragging us off topic. Apologies.
  20. There are a couple of blonde ladies who are associated with Crimson -- I think? But one is associated with Dr. Who Cassedine (that's what I call him...the guy who looks like 10). One doesn't like Willow. That may be the same person. Um, Eva is the one with the medium trying to find her daughter's ghost, I think. Am I close? Another has a relationship with Jax? (Not Maxie -- I love Maxie and her actress. Always have).
  21. I don't really like any of the new casting (since the soap merger, I suppose?) I don't like the actresses used for the random brunettes I can't tell apart -- this new one, Haydon, is adding to the confusion, and I'm really not a fan of Michael's girlfriend. She's just milquetoast. I'm also not a fan of the two older blonde women I can't tell apart, except I do like Eva and the one who is in charge of the magazine. I'm not fond of the twins played by the guy with the floppy brown hair. Lastly, it's too bad they couldn't afford David Tenant's salary because the guy who is playing the Cassedine is a dead ringer. I can tolerate him but I keep expecting him to jump into his TARDIS to get to Spoon Island. I do like the original cast and feel connected to the Quartermaine/Corinthos storyline. I have always loved the Sonny/Jason/Carly connection. Wow, how's that for unpopular?! LOL (By "always", I mean since Sarah Brown, Billy Warlock, Maurice Benard, and Steve Burton -- hat's off to Tamara Braun who was a terrific Carly, too).
  22. I haven't been around for Billy Miller's storyline so I don't know it (I'm picking up clues and asking questions that you all kindly answer for me) -- but I see the charisma you all do, yes. He is a very handsome man and his charisma gives the effect of just being a super nice guy (obviously I don't know him so he could be the most annoying person on the planet). I'm not jazzed by his character but that's only because I'm here for his swansong and it's clearly a sort of sad one....petering out as the actor prepares to leave. I'm sorry to have missed him at his best.
  23. Yeah, I wasn't overly concerned about the venue or, even who made the party or didn't. I did laugh when Michael snapped and chucked Shiloh out on his keister. Upon (little) reflection, I wonder if they aren't giving Michael a mix of his two "fathers' -- Jason's ability to manhandle people and Sonny's "suit and tie mobster" threatening style. That's fine with me -- but it will be a challenge for Chad Duell to see if he can pull it off.
  24. So, Drew really did look like Jason during the War -- the hallucination is accurate but it's Drew inside the Jason-body. Thanks! As for the moss, it's still on set! I was just excited to see the tote bag (originally it was a fabric brown sack that was on contract, very talented at "not crinkling" while on set) but sad not to see Limp Green Thing -- which was on contract for years. (Unexpectedly, a Google image search does not bring up an image of LGT. Sad to see such a long career disappear without so much as a whimper.)
  25. Apologies in advance for asking for a plot clarification but I wasn't watching during the Drew/Jason-same-person years. I've only been back since Burton returned. So, who was really in Afghanistan? Drew (Miller's character) or Jason (Burton's character)? Why is Shiloh seeing Burton's Jason rather than Miller's Drew? I'm not asking about actor desires (that Burton wanted to wear GI Joe clothes), I'm asking about the plot. Was Jason in the military for a stint? Or was that really supposed to be Drew but Shiloh is somehow hallucinating Jason? I'm confused. A quick, simple explanation would be much appreciated. Thanks!
