  1. I feel the same way. I didn't watch the show last night (it's on my DVR) and came here to see reactions. If I do watch it sounds like I'll have to FF through the street pieces. I've already removed "The Daily Show" from my season pass list. Hey, the two City Council members I voted for both won! Everything is fine! La la la...

  3. TBH I wonder if Bill will make it through Hill's first term. I've heard reports from the campaign trail that he does not seem to be in good health. If Hillary wins big tonight (please, please, please...), I hope Wednesday's show will be kind of a celebration. After this nightmare of an election, I really want to spend a couple days gloating before feeling miserable again about how difficult it will be for her to govern.
  4. I for one was glad to see a report on something completely unrelated to the election. I grew up in Grand Rapids, Mich., where Amway is headquartered, and I always wondered why I never knew anyone who actually used Amway products (with the exception of one friend whose dad worked at Amway HQ). Now I guess I know: the distributors were just warehousing the stuff in their basements.

  7. 8. The second he opened his mouth, I figured, "That guy MUST have been a football coach." He just looked and sounded the part. So I felt very vindicated when that was confirmed during his interview segment. Vivek seemed so nervous, it made me a bit uncomfortable. I hope he relaxes a bit more during his 2nd game.
  9. Stephen will be the guest on Fresh Air today. (The segment should be available to stream online later today.)
  10. FWIW Hillary Clinton is an avid reader. I love her taste in books! (And here are some of Sam Bee's favorites.)
  11. Don't miss the Trump Can't Read video. I can't believe it didn't make it onto the show -- it's hilarious! And somewhat persuasive.
  12. The New York tabloids have been calling Obama "Bam" for years now. I guess when you use giant fonts on your covers those two extra letters just take up too much space.
  13. As I've said before, last Monday's clip show was preplanned -- Trevor was supposed to be in South Africa hosting an MTV awards show. He had to cancel the trip due to his illness, but "TDS" (and "@Midnight," which follows the same production schedule) had already arranged to take the night off. Tonight's show was, I think, just an attempt to do something different for Halloween. My guess is that at least part of it WAS taped today, since the guests shown during the "@Midnight" segment were the same ones who appear on tonight's show. Not all of it worked, but I loved John Oliver's cameo. The egg safety story was so on-brand for LWT!
  14. Jeff Ross was on last month!!! Sept. 6. I wonder if they were trying to score a big guest and it fell through? It seems very odd. It's not like there aren't a lot of potential last minute guests around in NYC.
  15. Even if election day was a national holiday, it seems like it wouldn't help a great many lower income people -- i.e. the ones who work in nursing homes, restaurants & stores, etc. A lot of people don't even get Thanksgiving and Christmas off! Re: school segregation, I attended a neighborhood public school when busing began in my community (basically meaning black students were bused in from other parts of town in order to make the student body more diverse). Within a few years the city's public school system was 80% black and Hispanic, despite the fact that the racial makeup of the city as a whole was over 60% white. A lot of white parents pulled their kids out of the public schools and put them into private schools (primarily Christian schools).
  16. Mo 10/31: Kevin Pereira, April Richardson, Moshe Kasher Tu 11/1: Dana Gould, Janet Varney, Nate Mooney We 11/2: Jim Norton, Jena Friedman, Ryan Stout Th 11/3: Tiffany Haddish, Jim Jefferies, Brian Huskey
  17. Sorry, everyone, but the Prez has finally agreed to appear on Bill's show. Of course, Sam got him FIRST, and she didn't even have to do a stupid petition.
  18. Every week there's been a TBA I've made some mention of hoping it's Hillary and I have been disappointed every time, so I've given up hoping! It's interesting that Hillary has not appeared on any late night shows in the election run-up. She was on "Ellen" recently, and did "Kimmel" back in August and "Tonight Show" in September. But that seems like ages ago in this fast-moving election cycle. President Obama appeared on "The Daily Show" just a couple weeks before the 2012 election.
  19. The press release about the interview is hilarious.
  20. 10/31: TBA 11/1: Amb. Susan Rice (White House National Security Advisor) 11/2: Kal Penn (Actor – promoting show “Designated Survivor”) 11/3: Common (Actor, Musician & Activist – promoting album “Black America Again”)
  21. The clip show was not a last-minute thing -- that had been a previously-scheduled dark night, due to Trevor's (sadly canceled for health reasons) trip to South Africa to host the MTV Awards there.
  22. Monday, Oct. 31 Ruth Wilson; JB Smoove; The Ghost Brothers Tuesday, Nov. 1 Mel Gibson; Luke Bracey; musical performance by Tegan & Sara Wednesday, Nov. 2 Michael Strahan; Nick Kroll; musical performance by Aaron Lewis Thursday, Nov. 3 Aaron Eckhart; Tig Notaro; Ron Suskind Friday, Nov. 4 Viggo Mortensen; Patton Oswalt
  23. Full Frontal retweeted the ACLU, which offered to help anyone who believes a Catholic hospital denied them necessary care. I'm so glad FF shone a light on this issue, and I hope it makes a difference.
  24.
