  1. I think Kentaro is going to win this. It's super-easy to change the styling and I really think that what I saw of his collection had the best "architecture" and design to it. He'll figure it out. I have no doubt. I loved the effect that the color remover had on Brandon's flamingo print. I thought it gave it depth and complexity which are not the first things you think of when you think about pink flamingos. I totally agreed with him that the pattern was interesting in that it's flamingos but kind of not because it had some abstraction. Would I wear that pattern in any way, shape or form? No f-ing way! But I try to judge beyond my personal taste. The one one thing I thought would have helped Brandon's collection immensely is less cohesion. Like maybe just do a flamingo lining on a jacket in one outfit or something. There wasn't much else besides flamingos. * I believe in my 43 years this is the most I've ever typed "flamingo" in one day ?!
  2. I think it's disingenuous to say someone (a black, Muslim woman) was destined to be in the finale due to the show wanting to be "PC". Especially when you mention that she is skilled enough to be there on merit. It's just unnecessary and also apropos of nothing. Fashion is a diverse industry and frankly, Project Runway does not need to strive to be "PC" to show that. I have never felt that PR elevated anyone in order to be politically correct.
  3. Do you ever just have a visceral reaction to someone that you can't explain? I feel this irrational revulsion toward Cortney. She's definitely a huge pain in the ass, but it's something more than that. I shudder and look away when she's on. I'd rather watch what's-his-head and Karine than Cortney and Antonio and we all know how icky he is. I also observed that Darcy looks soooo much better leaving Amsterdam than when she arrived. Definitely less makeup is good but I also think her lip fillers have calmed down a bit since she's been away from her regular esthetician and maybe the not drinking looks better on her too...? Anyhoo, Jesse is gross and she seems kind of fucked up but basicallly nice, so I hope she finds someone better.
  4. Aika has something called circle lenses. They are large (non corrective) contacts that are supposed make the wearer look more "doll-like". Check them out. I went in quite the internet rabbit hole looking at pictures of them a few months ago. They are oddly fascinating. http://lunatu.com/o-lens-fire-cat-greybrown-circle-lenses-dia-148bc88-pre-order-555
  5. Yes! I was too self-conscious to say it first. I'd be all over him!
  6. I think Michael was saying that Claire took some existing pants (either what she was currently wearing or something she'd packed) into a bathroom and measured them to pattern the pants she made for her client. If that's true, then that would be cheating. I am unclear how Michael came to know this. I'm not sure if he was an eyewitness or if someone staying the women's apartment told him. I'm a huge Project Runway apologist, but I'm going to need to call shenanigans on two things: 1- I've never missed an episode of this show and so I'm pretty good at picking the top and bottom based not only on my own tastes but also what the judges will like. I was more certain than I've ever been that Kentaro would win this one. I think Claire was picked as the winner to deliberately stir up this shit storm. Kentaro would have been SO CLEARLY the winner on any other episode that didn't have this drama going on in the background. 2- If Marguerita and Michael were speaking about this to each other in the workroom, ON CAMERA, the day before, why didn't a producer say or do anything to investigate this before the runway? They wanted the drama for the runway and manufactured Claire's win to get it.
  7. I'm going on the record right now: Kristina as the next Bachelorette. Dean shows up halfway through the season to the consternation of every other guy. He makes it to F2 and redeems himself to the point where he is at least in the conversation to be the Bachelor because "Kristina opened his heart to the possibility of love". Mark my words.
  8. I was amusing myself thinking that Mo should just marry Wal-Mart Tom on another K1 visa and thinking about how ridiculous that was when it occurred to me that this is very reasonable programming for TLC and I should totally pitch that to them $$$!
  9. I am all in on Eric. I don't think he's going to win and he might not be right for her, but I find him to be a delight and a breath of fresh air and a tall drink of water and everything else! I found his family (past issues notwithstanding) to be one of the most normal groups we've seen on this show which is a good sign of his "good-personess" in my mind. Team Eric!
  10. I think that Bryan is definitely making it to the Fantasy Suite and I know there's NO WAY he's going to choke in the Fantasy Suite so... Rachel is way into him.
  11. Um. I'm experiencing this weird and unfamiliar feeling. Could it be that I'm actually watching for the RIGHT REASONS?! I was charmed last night by Rachel and a few of the guys (Kenny is #1 for me. Don't disappoint us, Kenny!). I found myself not even missing the usual delicious train wreck!
  12. I said to my husband "I soooooo need Corinne and Chad to be the It Couple in paradise this summer" and he said "Yes! That is the thing America needs and deserves right now." You can take that any way you like ;)
  13. Ghoulina, I agree with everything you've been saying on this topic, but I just had to mention that the idea of Kody wearing "tight blouses" just cracked me up. It's such an apt description though! Meri was so cringeworthy during this episode. I get that her expectations have been altered by this revelation, but she really wasn't listening to the advice (from Robyn and Kody of all people) to work this out in her head on her own time and with her own support system and not to burden Mariah with her process. I think she has an idea (and some people on this board seem to agree) that her struggles or feelings about this are valid and need to be heard by Mariah. I think that while she can't help but feel how she feels, it's extremely tone-deaf and self indulgent to think that Mariah is a an appropriate sounding board for her feelings about who Mariah NATURALLY and INHERENTLY is. I get having to shift expectations and how scary it is, but Mariah is not the person for Meri to go to for a discussion about her disappointment that she will never have a son-in-law. I think that's what her sister wives and husband and friends are (supposed to be) for. Also, I totally agree with many of you who can't believe that Meri is so dense that she can't wrap her head around the logistics of how gay people get married and have kids (all the time!) in 2017!
  14. First off, apropos of nothing, I loved both Erin's and Laurence's outfits for the show. There could not be two less similar looks and I as a short and casual 42 year old wouldn't wear either, but I really thought they both rocked it and maybe that says something about good style rising above one's personal preferences and wearability to the beholder. About the collections... There is always a mystery and inconsistency as to what exactly the judges are looking for. Is it craftsmanship/ fit, wearability, taste-level or creativity? I honestly thought that Roberi's collection checked off all of those boxes. I really liked it and was rooting hard for him to win. Ultimately, there WAS an exuberance and creativity to Erin's that the judges were mesmerized by. It's not my taste and her personality is very affected and irritating, so it's hard to give her that compliment, but the judges went on emotion this time and her clothes made them happy. I do get what they were saying about the sense of humor in her collection. I agree with everyone about the Juniors previews being distracting! It's so funnny that they did that when the show was literally coming on in less than an hour. We can contain our excitement, Lifetime. So yes, I did not agree with the winner and was annoyed and distracted by the Juniors, but hell yes I'll watch PR again next season! It's what I do. I love this show and I've watched every episode from the time it was cool until now. Happy holidays!
  15. Ok, I'm posting before reading any of your opinions because (ducking)...I thought that episode was so sweet. Except for the "knighting" to take his princess and make her a queen. Barf.
  16. I'm sure some (many) will disagree, but I don't see any of this as so awful. I think they are collections that are still being worked out and the "problems" are emphasized by editing for drama. The potential is there and it will be fine and they will miraculously pull it together in the next three days. I didn't personally care for Rik's (but that's just my taste probably), but I saw loads of potential in the other three. While we're on the subject of drama, it is my opinion that Laura Bennett's collection is being lauded as much more interesting than it actually was. It does look very wearable, but it would not stand out to me as a contender in a design competition. Have a look for yourselves: ...and while I'm at it with my very unpopular opinions, I actually liked Gretchen's more than Mondo's and years later, I definitely stand by that. I mean, Mondo's polka dot dress repulses me and I really think Gretchen's collection turned out to be correct in nailing what was coming next: I'm not saying I'm absolutely right, but I am saying that the beholder's personal taste is just one element of a design competition. Whether I would or could wear something seems kind of moot when judging since we're all individuals and creativity, wearability and taste are distinctly different things. I just think we should let it play out a bit more. I also don't understand why people who constantly bitch about this show still watch it. And, while I'm at it, I'm not sure I understand why anyone watches it and claims that a three second glimpse of a random dog in a fabric store every third week is the only good part of the show or the only reason they watch. I mean, if you have hated it so much for like six years, I respectfully suggest that it's time you move on.
  17. God help me, but I now like Tony and I loved that hike! What has come over me?
  18. A few episodes ago, I got a lot of likes on a post saying that I thought Erin was talented but that she is as good as she is ever going to get and will not grow as a designer if she doesn't take her head out of her ass to learn. I feel like that particular shade of "muppet yellow" is the perfect example of this. It has a certain bold "she went there" factor to it, but when she goes there again and again, it just becomes so obvious that she got accolades for it and is sticking with it. There is no reason to use that color more than once. The point (to me) of using that color is the surprise element. It's (to me) not a very nice color in and of itself. And I'm a person who really likes some shades of yellow. The other problem with Erin's outfit for me was that it really looked like some of those (Crazy! Brightly colored!) little girl/ tween mall store fashions on acid. Not avent garde but juvenile and crazy. I got really excited about her paper doll idea and when it was all over, I thought that maybe that's why the judges keep her around. Her ideas are usually really creative (for this group) and they just can't let her go because they think that she'll execute well at some point and it'll be worth it...? I don't know but I am convinced that she's going to win and I weirdly think maybe she should win even though I have not really liked anything she's done.
  19. I actually agreed with not only the judges' order of the teams but also most of their comments. I thought Team Neutral was very good but my tastes lean strongly toward Team Blue. I loved how it was very new but a little referencial as well. I thought that collection was good enough for the early years of the show and not just good for the "stupid Lifetime network years". I saw a little Jay McCarroll, a little Seth Aaron... I also agree with Tim saving Cornelius. I'm not really dying to see more from him and nor am I enamoured of his personality, I just feel that he was put in an impossible position. If he'd done less, Erin and Dex might just have not finished and they would have thrown him under the bus. His only option was to do as much as possible to try to save the team. I think it was only fair to give him another chance because Erin and Dex were awful teammates. Speaking of Erin, is anyone else not seeing her as a "front runner" anymore? That woman cannot see the forest (total look) through the trees (a single jacket/ appliqué/ embroidery detail). Also, she's talented but she is as good as she's ever going to get unless she pulls her head out of her ass long enough to actually grow as a designer.
  20. I really liked this episode. I agreed with the judgments of the winning and losing teams although I didn't love or hate either collection. What I actually liked was that the discussion and critiques were completely design-focused. There was no interpersonal bullshit or diva behavior to dissect. I really like how professional everyone is this season. Even the somewhat annoying designers (Cornelius, Natalia) seem like ok people. Nothing like past villains. I was kind of hoping for either no elimination or the Tim Gunn Save. Alex was deservedly the one to go if someone had to go but it seems like a shame to have him take the fall for something that really wasn't that bad. He also worked very hard for the team and seemed to have some talent so I wouldn't have minded him getting another shot.
  21. Holy cats! Kody is the most petulant little pissant I've ever seen! I don't care if Robyn is evil or Mariah is entitled or Aurora is Overly Attached Girlfriend, none of them deserve this asshat. From his bizarrely aggressive speech in the cafe to his toddler meltdown about the pork at the luau (while playing with Legos no less) and all of his snippiness and rude little interludes, this man is the Absolute Worst. I mean, he can't be real can he?
  22. I can't look away. This show is such a sad crazy mess! My gut tells me that this show is more "reality" than most. It's awful that they need money and/ or attention so much that they have to air all of this. These people are so SAD!
  23. Although there were many that simply were not my taste (Asha, Ken, Leyana, Alexander), I thought that for the first time in awhile, they all seemed to look like competently-made, professionally tailored clothes. All of them that is except Sam's. Seriously, that looked like some losing design from an unconventional challenge! I am neither a designer nor a seamstress and I can say without a doubt that I could of made that. Except I couldn't because my brain would not have conceived of something so hideous. How is that not the losing design? Thought Dom or Kini should have won but that's just a matter of personal taste. That Sam should have gone home seems like an obvious fact, right?
