  1. I think how a character treats and acts around his significant other does say a lot about them. Of course you will feel differently, because you obviously have zero interest in Jo. But I usually like her. And I like seeing Alex being a loving husband to her. The cancer thing is a plot, it's just that they haven't done much with it so far. Plus it's a medical storyline and those can be less interesting at times, because they tend not to explore characters as deeply as personal ones. As an Alex fan I will always want storylines for him, but I wouldn't say he doesn't have one at all. Again, it's just that it's a medical one. But so far I've been interested in the Chief story. I do want more for him, I've wanted an actual storyline about his family for years and I'm still hoping for that.
  2. I will carefully disagree with this statement. His story in this episode was a complete fail, I'm totally with you on that, but otherwise his stuff wasn't so bad this season and all in all it's probably too early to judge. We see him unconditionally support Jo career-wise and while that puts him into a passive role, it's nice to see him be there for Jo, because it hasn't always been that way. Plus we see him grow into his new position as chief and in that regard I absolutely loved the episode 2 weeks ago. The story with the fat kid patient and Alex's role in it was pretty well done and highlighted how Alex works. Also Camilla Luddington hinted that we might see more story about Alex's family this season and if that does come to pass it's something I'm definitely looking forward to, not to mention it's something that's long overdue. But back to this episode - sadly I must agree that Alex's story in it was just dumb and unnecessary. It was one of those things where I feel like the writers write Alex in this old familiar pattern - he can be grumpy and brooding at times after all - without considering whether it does actually make sense in this particular situation and whether any reasonable human being would actually act that way. Unfortunately it didn't work at all. A simple question would have done the trick, but the writers just had to blow it out of proportion to make it last an entire episode and give it a nicee resolution in the end. I've noticed it a couple of times and as a huge Alex fan it annoys me, but other than that the season was fine for Alex so far and if better things are coming for him in 15B I'm willing to let it slide.
  3. I liked this one. I'm pretty much only still here for Alex/Jolex/Jo and even though there wasn't much from the third thing on that list, the other two delivered. As brief as they were I liked the Jolex scenes and I liked that Justin Chambers made me believe them. I've always loved Jolex and Camilla always sells that relationship, but in the last couple of seasons I did not always get that feeling from Justin Chambers. I don't entirely hold it against him as the material has been lacking at times. Plus after so many years I don't wanna blame the actors for phoning it in sometimes. Anyways, I really like JC's performance this season. Case in point, it was quite cute how Alex snuck up to Jo in that last scene. Or the way he keeps smiling at Jo. You can see that he's absolutely in love with this woman. Jolex works really well for me this season and I'm glad. I was intrigued by the ending. What's the link between Jo and... well Link. Obviously a love triangle is a possibility, but I don't think that's where this will go. And Jo could definitely use more people - actual friends - on the show. I also liked Alex's story a lot. What he did was super wrong, but knowing the character it made a lot of sense and as long as it doesn't become a habit, I have no problem with his way of helping this patient. I also liked that it was a fat, practically grown up kid this time. Alex with the little ones is cute of course, but I like when they mix it up a bit. I'm here for Alex's chief story. So far I really like it. The rest for me is just there tbh. I don't dislike any characters or stories right now, but I also don't really care. Wish DeLuca would get a real story though. He's sweet and not to mention a real hottie, so I'd like to see him being used better. Speaking of DeLuca, was this story about his dead mother real? Because it sounded real, but how can she be dead, when it was only 2 seasons ago that Maggie called her when Andrew was in the hospital? The writers should do a better job at preventing such inconsistencies, especially when it wasn't that long ago.
  4. I absolutely believe it is. The show has done it before. And I imagine it might serve as some sort of "sexual re-awakening" for Meredith and make her realize that she really wants to start dating again.
  5. I don't think April is dying at all. I think they're just overhyping the whole thing. Immensely. Kinda pisses me off, because it's the 2nd to last episode of the season and it looks like it's almost a centric. As for Sarah livetweeting - I assume that is happening, because it was a huge episode for her and the last time she's really the center of attention. In the finale her story will just be one of multiple. It makes sense to me that she wants to livetweet the last episode where April stands out. Plus Ellen Pompeo has pretty much confirmed neither April nor Arizona gonna get a tragic exit. I know she says a lot of weird/questionable stuff, but I don't think she would lie that blatantly.
  6. Well I would be SUPER excited for all the possible Alex stories they could do and also how his journey with Jo continues. Sadly they are not characters or a couple the writers are or were ever really invested in. Even this season, which is a huge improvement comared to the last 3 seasons on the Alex & Jo front, they mostly only get the bare minimum. Their issues at the beginning of the season were mostly ignored and they got a rushed reconciliation. Jo's DV story got wrapped up in 2 episodes and Alex was barely a part of it. Then they didn't have any significant scenes together for a while until the engagement episode. Afterwards the same thing happened until their story got picked up again last week. As for their individual stories: except for some minor quibbles I do like Jo's professional arc with Meredith this season. Sadly I can't say the same about Alex. His arc with Kimmie was pointless from start to finish and he didn't even get to be a doctor. Also I have a hard time accepting that this story went on for multiple episodes, while we only get to see Alex with his mother for one episode. And this is a story we've basically been waiting for for a decade. Anyways, I think there are enough potential stories for both Alex and Jo and that is what I would be super excited about, but sadly they're never given the time of the day on this show.
  7. Agreed. Sadly they never have. Not even the reunion with his mother is worth a centric, let alone a real storyline.
  8. Info-dump is too little for me this time. We already had lots of that when Aaron came to visit and dumped all that info on Bailey and Meredith and actually only had one (brief) real conversation with Alex himself. And when Alex went back to Iowa when Aaron attacked Amber, we only heard of that when he told Meredith everything. It was all tell no show as it usually is for Alex. So since Alex's story is actually in the press release this time, I need to see at least his mother in the flesh and I need them to actually interact. If they pull some stunt that the actual visit happens off-screen or worse his mother is lost or dead, I'm gonna be royally pissed. Unpopular opinion about April: as sad as I am to see her go, she's had such a long and amazing storyline this season, that I want a quiet departure for her. A good one of course, but not one that takes too much screentime in the finale. She's had plenty of screentime all season long. I know it's the last screentime she'll ever get, but still, this is how I feel. I don't know about Arizona, though. She definitely deserves more screentime, since she's barely had a story all season. But selfishly, I want a good chunk of the finale to be about Alex and Jo and their wedding. I would love for Alex's family to play a part in it too, but I know that this 10 minute trip to Iowa and the maybe-reunion with his mother will probably be the only thing we'll get in terms of Alex's family.
  9. Haha me too. But I'm not even sure I would like that. I'm having mixed feelings about that possibility. But I do want to meet her and I want it to be a real story arc for Alex. Amber's age is an eternal mystery. Aaron said in s6 that she would be graduating high school soon, which would make her 17 at least? But in s7 Alex said, she was 16. Add another year for s8 and she's 18/19. S9-14 are apparently supposed to be only 5 years since Jo is still a resident, even though that makes zero sense with the time jump and how big Harriet is already lol. Anyways, I guess she's around 24-26 years old. So making her a medical intern would work technically.
  10. Nicky won't be there, because he is not relevant for that part of the family. He is only Alex's (and Aaron's and Amber's) half brother since his father was with a new woman after he'd left Iowa. None of the Karevs even know Nicky. Not even Alex, as Nicky's mother didn't bring him when she went to the hospital to get her guitar back. I have actually zero interest in meeting Nicky or his mother again. Who I want to see - and see lots of - is Alex's mom and Amber. I would love to see Aaron again as well, but the actor is on another show, so that won't happen. Besides, with everything else going on, that story maybe gets 10 minutes, which is already bumming me out big time, but I guess something is better than nothing.
  11. I'm bitter too. And the episode hasn't even aired yet, hah! The promo pics are out and there's a pregnant character with Arizona. So including the 3 that are mentioned in the press release that makes 4 stories. Which means Alex gets about 1/4 of an episode for a story I have been waiting for for years. Arizona of course deserves all the sceentime she can get, but I could do without the other 2 stories for sure. This could be such a big and important story for Alex and he doesn't even get a centric-ish episode for it, while every other character on the show gets those, including guest star Megan Hunt. So yeah, I'm bitter too.
  12. Absolutely agree. Tess and Annie never really got much focus and at first that was fine with me. Lots of shows have characters with kids that aren't really the center of attention (Grey's Anatomy being the most extreme example.) But now that the show decided to tell a kid story it bothers me that it's not Tess or Annie but a new one. We don't even know that much about them yet. And it's not like there's no story to tell about them. At the very least Tess' hinted at issues deserved to be explored and not be completely brushed off like they did. So yeah I really don't know why I should care about Deja, when there are "old" characters that have barely been explored.
  13. I think Koracick would have done Alex a favour by reporting him. Not to HR, because then he could have gotten fired and I don't want that. But I wanted him to report Alex to Bailey so badly after seeing the promo. And then I wanted Bailey to order him to take some counseling sessions if he wants to keep his job. Because he needs to face some consequences already and more than that I want him to finally confront his issues. Alex grabbing Koracick as such didn't bother me so much. Alex has always had a temper and I wouldn't want him to turn into some mellow goody two-shoes (we've basically had that during s11 and 12 and I didn't like it) but ever since the DeLuca thing got so out of hand any sort of violence coming from Alex reflects so badly on the character that I don't wanna seeait ever again. Even him "just" grabbing a guy by the collar and pushing him against a wall is too much for me. But I knew I wouldn't get to see any consequences for Alex yet again as soon as the scene was over. Because that's exactly what it was. Just scene. Just another random scene for Alex like pretty much everything else he gets these days. We don't even get an explanation for why Kimmie is so important to Alex that he would threaten a guy for her. Surely he's had many cute longterm patients with bleak prospects over the years, so why is this one so important? But who cares, right? It's just Alex. All he ever gets is random. He and Jo only had 2 real conversations all season and apart from those they're just... there. Not even the 1 storyline he had in years - the DeLuca/jail story - was meaningful in any way. All we got was jail angst and Alex redeeming himself over being a great doctor. Bailey let him come back based on nothing more than a promise and we never got to see Alex actually deal with and overcome his issues. That would have made for such an interesting story. Alex is my absolute favourite character on the show and I'm so beyond tired of his stories only being as deep as a puddle.
  14. I found it a bit of an odd pick myself. I guess it's not that easy to find a scene where Meredith is at Joe's and turns around so they could create that exact effect. Or maybe they found this and were just too l lazy to look further and decided to just take it.
  15. My guess is Meredith's story and Owen's were done to start new storylines for these characters? I'm pretty optimistic Scott Speedman will be back. And Owen... well I certainly don't know what they are doing with him, besides making him more and more unlikable, but I have to believe they have a plan for him. Between his hook ups with Amelia and his thing with Teddy I have no idea what that could be, though. I'm just confused. Maybe he has a tumour too lol. Either way, my actual problem is I have zero interest in anything Owen at this point. I wish he would just leave. At least April's story got progress. But I agree, all in all the pacing is still off. There are always a bunch of characters who get the shaft and it sucks when it's always the same like Alex, Jo and Arizona.
  16. Well, I can't know obviously, but she was let go from a show/role/job she didn't want to leave, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's not only disappointed but also hurt and pissed. But how can we know exactly that that's how it went down?
  17. Burned bridges with Jessica Capshaw for sure. And they both apparently unfollowed Vernoff on twitter. But I'm confused about Sarah Drew. If she got a new show within a week after being let go from Grey's, doesn't that mean she had one foot out the door already? Surely getting cast in a new show takes longer than one week? I'm really confused what was going on there BTS.
  18. Ha, I loved that line. Even though I'm totally guilty of that behaviour and felt called out by it, haha. I know I'm taking my fictional characters way too seriously, but I always have and I'm not one of the crazies who will send death threats or endless accusations to writers, so I don't feel bad about it. April really shines this season. I'll be sad to see her go.
  19. Agreed, I also want less Jack please. But we all know it's just not gonna happen. And I'm so not thrilled that it seems like a good part of the s3 storyline for my favourite character (Kevin) will be tied to Jack of all people, as he tries to find out more about his father's past.
  20. I hated it too. Mostly though, I found it embarrassing. Who tells a room full of mostly strangers about their DUI and rehab? I don't know, maybe it's just me, but that made me cringe. And not just that the whole speech was just odd given it was supposed to be a wedding toast. The breathing thing might have been nice in private moment between the four Pearson, but again, in the wedding setting it made me cringe. Plus it was such a core Pearson thing and highlighted once again that Beth, Miguel and Toby are just the outer circle. Nevermind that Miguel actually lost his best friend in Jack. Nevermind that it was Toby's wedding day too and yet the toast was more a thing about the Pearson family and their trauma than anything else. I wish they would lay off the speeches. It's making me like each character a little bit less.
  21. The actress was in the credits, because she got promoted to series regular starting with s2. But then she got pregnant and thus barely appeared in any episodes. I guess TPTB decided then to drop Kevin/Sophie for good. I know nobody cared, but I'm actually sad Sophie's gone and that her last scene with Kevin was indeed an ultimate goodbye. I know she was just thrown at us out of nowhere. Then again, on this show where the writers are so in love with their twists and turns, many things happen out of nowhere all the time. And I don't think ep. 13 of a first season of a show is too late to find out one of the main characters used to be married. So I never found it implausible. Besides, what they are doing with Kevin and Zoe now is the exact same thing they did with Kevin/Sophie. Sophie is a huge part of Kevin's past and the woman he had always loved, his "soulmate" so to speak. And so we were expected to care about her and that relationship in the same episode she turned up. Now there's Zoe, a woman who will play a huge part in Kevin's future. We find out in the very same episode she turns up that she will sheKevin's girlfriend a year from now, so we're expected to care about her and that relationship. In both cases we were confonted with facts before seeing the journey. And I'm just not very thrilled that this is Kevin's second relationship that is built up that way. Especially since I came around to Sophie and was actually rooting for her and Kevin and invested in their story. I know it's a thing this show does a lot - presenting the results, before showing the journey. But this time it really bothers me. And while I'm talking about the journey and the results, I absolutely despise the flash forward idea. Looking back and unravelling that way how the Pearsons became who they are today works for me, because we all have a past and experiences that have shapped us in good and bad ways. But I can't know my own future and so I have no interest in seeing the future of the Pearsons, before it actually happens. But oh well, this show just has to push it's mysteries and twists, right?
  22. I know that's typical Pearson, but getting something individual doesn't mean they're not prioritizing Kate. That's what they absolutely should do. But every now and then even the Pearsons can actually be genuinely there for each other. Like in the 2nd to last episode of season 1. They had the fun-eral for William and everybody was there. Kevin had his 2nd opening night and everybody supported him in that. Randall comforted a crying Kate. Kate opened up to Toby. Randall and Rebecca cleared things up. Everybody got something in this episode and since tonight is the season finale it's what I want from this episode as well.
  23. I see grown up people eat cereal all the time on American TV. Is that not so common as those shows make it look? And I had no problem that he got nostalgic about the cereal he liked as a kid for a moment. It happens to me too with lots of stuff I re-encounter as an adult. I agree, though, they do act younger than they are. I am in my 20s, so maybe I can't compare. Who knows, if I do some things I do now in 10 years it might be embarrassing. Most likely so, haha.
  24. Yeah, I just wonder what else they will have going on, besides supporting Kate. I know for Randall and Beth it's gonna be Deja. Kevin better have something individual too. Oh well, in less than 24 hours we will know.
