Yeah I don't buy that. Recently JJ said Kathleen Kennedy early on asked him if would also helm 8 and 9 but he said no and I can't fault his reasoning:

    https://screenrant.com/star-wars-8-jj-abrams-director-kathleen-kennedy/

JJ's response shows how ridiculous the idea of him having also written drafts of 8 and 9 is. When would he have the time? He went from preproduction casting and co-writing the TFA script with Lawrence Kasdan(which had many drafts), filming it for months all over the world including reshoots and editing and overseeing sound and special effects in post-production, all within just two and a half years. There's just no logistical way JJ could write one draft, much less two while doing all that, especially since he wasn't even going to direct them! That would be impossible for any director. Not saying Daisy is lying, just mistaken.

I don't think he'd have written them during principal photography on TFA,

But writing a rough draft script doesn't necessarily take that much time, they're often not much more than fleshed out outlines. and JJ has experience producing scripts quickly for TV. So I can imagine the if he wanted to have a basic structure for the story going forward as he was writing TFA he might have written a couple of rough scripts during the early stages of production on 7 for 8 and 9.

  2. Lillian's complete non-reaction to her son (and daughter) having been replaced by doppelgangers from another Earth was actually one of the scariest villain moments in the series for me.

If nothing else I would expect some sort of reaction to how much worse her quality of associates is now.

She went from a Lena that happily worked with Lex and a Lex that was smart enough to befriend and manage Superman and Supergirl, to a Lena who is a constant threat to flip on them and a Lex who is a constant threat to put on his robot suit and deliver a villain speech on national TV just because he can.

It seems to me that Kennedy has a different style to Feige. She's more used to working with directors to create their visions, rather than being the one with the vision who finds people to execute it.

I don't think that Lord and Miller would agree on that.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the creative decisions for this trilogy were made - why not have one overall vision? Why give it to different directors and writers, but then overrule them in certain areas?

I imagine there was a desire to let as many creative people contribute as possible, but I don't see how that could ever have turned out better than a singular vision and coherent narrative. Then again, the prequels were a singular vision and cohesive narrative, and they were terrible.

They should have told Abrams that if he writes one movie, he writes all three, even if he doesn't direct them. Or they should have had him, Johnson and Trevorrow sit down and write the trilogy together.

JJ did write rough drafts for 8 and 9, according to Daisy Ridley.

Johnson just threw the 8 script out and rewrote the whole thing, apparently using almost nothing from JJ's script.

  5. I'm not convinced that Bright never zoned out and killed someone himself, I feel like that's the next big twist reveal they still have in their pocket for next season. We've seen how dangerous he can be while dreaming, it's not a stretch to think he could be like his sister.

Been waiting on the Ainsley is a killer reveal all season, the real surprise to me was that this seemed to be her first kill and she doesn't seem to be a calculating killer like her Dad, rather one who zones out and/or kills in a rage when pushed.

Will be interesting to see where they go with Ainsley next season, will she become a serial killer working with Dad? Will she try to pull a Dexter and only kill criminals to strike a balance between Martin and Malcolm? Will Bright and Mom pull her back before she kills again? Will she go all in on being a killer, dodging Bright and team, will she join Martin in trying to recruit Malcolm to team killer?

So I may be stupid here, but where did all those people Clint and Natasha fighting come from? This looks like more than an alternate scene but an entirely alternate plot. There appeas to be no Red Skull and I assume that was Thanos in the blurred background when Natasha sacrificed herself. Which means we have to have had a plot where Thanos knew where that stone was without Gamora. I agree that this scene felt more powerful for Natasha, but to get there I think would have been unnecessarily complicated from Thanos' point of view.

The original plan was apparently for Captain Marvel to go with them and for Thanos and his team to show up for a big fight scene.

  7. Ren was introduced back in Episode 5 this season, they showed them meeting and hitting it off right away, the main plot was Erica not wanting her cool new friend to meet her Mom on parents weekend.

They just didn't start using her again until a few episodes ago, so I guess everyone forgot her.

  8. The Mayor's head healing was an early part of the ritual to become the snake thing, right? Once he started it it was basically invincible until Snake Day.

    OR am I misremembering that.

I do enjoy that in the first couple of seasons when Buffy faces some indestructible demon like the Judge or Snake Mayor the go to response was, "Okay, but they didn't have rocket launchers back then."

I see shows like this all the time on Nickelodeon.

I think that's why I find myself enjoying this show in spite of recognizing that it isn't particularly good. It's basically a Disney Channel or Nickelodeon type sitcom but with the primary focus on the adults rather than the kids.

  10. i wonder if Mary Baker's fianceis still alive ... she didn't seem too concerned either way.

My problem with the ending is that I don't know that they did enough to make me trust Vexler long term with ultimate executive power. Yes he came back to help, but a few episodes ago he wanted Eddie to be eaten by a goat.

  11. The storyline with flashbacks to Eddie and his sister as teens and the dead friend reminds me so much of the show Proven Innocent that I'm expecting Kelsey Grammer to show up and put them on trial for murder any minute now.

I never understood the appeal of that show for the adult contestants. If you win - big deal, you SHOULD be smarter than a 5th grader. If you lose - you don't know as much as a kid and look like an idiot.

They could win up to a million dollars if they got all the answers right, so I can see the appeal.

Also adults weren't actually competing against the kids on the show, so I don't think it was really ll that embarrassing if they lost.

Does anybody know the Name and Artist of the Rap song that Alicia and Paul were listening to on Johan's tape player?

The one with all the bleeped out lyics that had them against Bow listening to rap? I didn't recognize it, I suspect it's something they made for the show.

  13. I feel like there's no way Billy would have been reinstated after hiding a player's steroid use, even temporarily.

I'll also never get why the characters on the show act like Spencer being on the team is bad for Asher or his scholarship chances. If Asher was the best player on the team before Spencer then he should be putting up huge numbers with Spencer there drawing double teams and safety attention.

  14. The thing that bugs me with Gravedigger is that the dude has mind control powers but he's here slugging it out with everyone.

Is there a reason that his confrontation with Jenn wasn't just him telling her to "freeze"? Why is he mixing it up with the Nazis and getting his face cut up when he could just order them all to shoot themselves?

I thought that when Billy confronted Asher in his office, he got him to hand over something from his bag and said he would dispose of it.

Yeah, Asher gave Billy his steroids, though I guess it's possible that he had more hidden somewhere.

I really love Al’s relationship with her dad. He is so proud of her and she obviously lives him so much.

I also really like her easy friendship with Chauncely (especially in light of how much she dislikes his father). I really hope they keep their relationship platonic.

I liked that the rest of Al’s family treats Chauncely like s regular person, not the son of the king. And I thought it was sweet that he felt comfortable enough around them to remove his hair!

And is it just me or does Lord Vexler seem to like Chauncely now too?

I think that Vexler has liked (or at least been nicer to) Chauncely since he took all the heat from the King for the treaty signing that Vexler screwed up.

@Izzy85 and @Tachi Rocinante have made me feel that my head might not be screwed as loose as I thought. 😉 I watch with captions and they definitely rendered it as "Wayland," not "Waylon," the established character name.  Maybe the joke is that Monty, er, Burns doesn't really even know his name?

I thought Burns was intentionally getting his name wrong as a power move.

  18. One thing that bugged me on the trip down memory lane was that they acted like a Kryptonian and a Luthor working together was some novel concept.

James said back in season 2 that Clark and Lex had been "best friends" and that Clark had repeatedly refused to see the worst in Lex in spite of all the warning signs.

    \Re: Agents of SHIELD...

    https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/marvels-agents-of-shield-season-six-ratings/

The ratings were bad.  I like the show!  I watched from Episode 1.  I tried to convince friends (heck, even family!) of mine who dropped it that it got so much better.  They still didn't watch.

Ratings dropped from 8.3 million in Season 1 to a little over 2 million in the last season.  Good for a CW show sure, just awful for any of the "big" networks.  It's not a ridiculously high standard.  It's just a standard.  Not Top 10, but what about Not Even Top 100?  Hell's Kitchen Season whatever it's on had 4 million viewers (it was the #100 show when I Googled the 2019 list).  I honestly think if AoS didn't have the Marvel/Disney support, it'd have been cancelled several seasons ago.  Which would have been a shame for me personally 'cause I like it, but understandable.

Production companies often prop up the last few seasons of a successful show in spite of falling ratings because it's a boost to their value in syndication and streaming packages, Networks will, likewise, keep airing such a show because the core fanbase is well understood and they can sell ads around that and use it to get attention for new shows that target a similar group.

Shows don't reach that point, however, without having been a solid success in the first place. Saying a show is a failure because of its ratings in Season 6 while ignoring that it was successful enough to make it to Season 6 in the first place is either a very high standard or a very different interpretation of what is or isn't a success than most people use in common discussion on such a topic.
