This made me laugh: https://twitter.com/GUBLERNATION/status/617511149009895424?t=1&cn=cmVjb3NfbmV0d29ya19kaWdlc3RfdHJpZ2dlcmVk&sig=b0e4be28869f99cba14c8d4ded1f3deb95a03942&al=1&refsrc=email&iid=fc4bc41f099f413c8019c4ad9202f732&autoactions=1436064383&uid=2511512677&nid=244+590 Not too sure how to post the image, but the link should get you there :)

And ignorant. Also what was up with HAV and AODM? I work in the medical field and have never ever seen either of those. Hepatitis A is referred to as Hep A, and "adult-onset" diabetes mellitus is referred to as NIDDM (non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus) or T2DM (type 2 diabetes mellitus), with T2DM being preferred over NIDDM.

I was beyond shocked that two of them didn't get FJ. Target made (Canadian) headline news for months - when they announced they were expanding into Canada, when they announced they'd be taking over most of the Zellers stores, when they announced the sheer number of stores they'd be opening, when the stores opened and there were all the issues with empty shelves and high prices, when they were losing a lot of money, when they announced they'd be closing all of their stores (which was HUGE news), when the closing sales were barely enough to qualify as a sale, when there were stories about the issues/legalities of closing all of those pharmacies, and then when the last store actually closed. And then there was the "Closing Time" video that some Target employees made that was all over the internet. Couple all of that media coverage with it being so recent, and I barely had to glance at the clue to get it. Walmart has been in Canada for at least 20 years and is doing very well - part of the reason Target failed was because Walmart had more items at better prices. I wonder what made them think of it in the first place? For the tea clue, I couldn't decide between Lipton and Tetley - I had guessed Tetley, though :(

At least that made me laugh. The "whoo" at the end of the Uptown Funk clue just made me cringe :P

I am off work next week, and my sister and I are planning on seeing it :) I am very excited!

I also think I've had a pretty lucky life. It's certainly not been perfect - the deaths of my siblings, issues coming out to my parents, depression, etc - but overall it could have been much worse. Of course, I'm still young (24 yo), and hopefully have a lot of "life" ahead of me. I think experiencing hardships allows you to empathize more easily with others going through similar situations, but one can certainly be compassionate and empathetic regardless of their life experiences. I agree that it gives you a different perspective, though - one that is only gained through experience. However, I think the "near misses" also have an impact and can change your perspective. I really like this quote by Harlan Ellison: “I know that pain is the most important thing in the universes. Greater than survival, greater than love, greater even than the beauty it brings about. For without pain, there can be no pleasure. Without sadness, there can be no happiness. Without misery there can be no beauty. And without these, life is endless, hopeless, doomed and damned." As a complete aside, I am enjoying the CNN series "The Seventies", and the episode description for Thursday is: May be of interest to some of you on here!

They wouldn't necessarily have spoken about Ethan. My brother and sister died many years ago, and it's completely taboo to talk about either of them. There's no way any of my remaining siblings, parents, or any other family members would mention them, unless I specifically bring them up, and even then the topic is shut down pretty quickly. I still feel there is much more to Prentiss than they ended up telling/showing us. But you could say that about most of the characters - I just think they hinted it more with Emily, and I suppose with Blake too near the end.

When that question occurred, I had a major brain fart and couldn't remember if Swine flu was H1N1 or H5N1 - I knew one was swine flu and one was bird flu, but I couldn't remember which was which. Normally I can tell them apart because when bird flu was an issue, I was learning Italian and therefore watched the news a lot in Italian, so I think of it as H5N1 pronounced in Italian. But I was tired and totally blanked on which flu was a concern back in 2006-7. I did get FJ very easily, though :P

I was the one who posted the article originally, and yeah I was just confused - I hadn't been 100% paying attention when I watched Friday's episode, but I was certain Brennan won, and the article said he lost. Also the spoiler thread didn't exist on Friday! But yes, in retrospect it would have been better to use spoiler tags or something and I'll keep that in mind :) Though I would hope that this type of situation is avoided altogether in the future. My apologies!

They do the shows in front of a live audience, and presumably any one of them could have leaked it - they'd have much less to lose than a contestant or any of the crew. I also totally missed what they meant by "live-action", but scripted wouldn't rule out the Jetsons.

That wager killed me. I like Brennan and wanted to continue to watch him do well, and I hate when it's just a bad FJ wager that decides the winner/loser. I also laughed when I saw the FJ category, because of the Saratogian article. Looks like someone broke the terms of their contract :P

I've never heard of Aisha Tyler, so I'm pretty much just annoyed that they're bringing in a replacement. Though, I agree that they were unlikely to have no female field agents, just because of the optics of it. I hope recurring ends up being very recurring. I am cautiously hopeful that with the changes in writing staff, things will change for the better. Does anyone know if they're planning on bringing a new person on?

I swear on the show I watched tonight, Brennan won his fifth game, but this article says that he lost his fifth game with a totally different FJ question: http://www.saratogian.com/general-news/20150619/skidmore-grad-to-plays-fifth-round-on-jeopardy Specifically:

After failing pretty much the entire game (I was so out of it I was missing even the easy and obvious ones), I somehow managed to get FJ immediately. Also, I hadn't really paid much attention to the current champ on yesterday's show, but after reading the comments on here ("crazy Tom Cruise"), the moment he showed up onscreen I burst out laughing. I can definitely see the Tom Cruise likeness!

Thanks :) Those sound really interesting! I might add a couple to my (ever-growing) list of films to watch. I was also raised Roman Catholic, and I would never categorize Roman Catholicism as progressive :P It's always nice though to see churches (regardless of the specific denomination) that are more open.

In my opinion, Forever People is worse than 200. I found it so much more frustrating to watch. As far as I'm concerned, the issue is not with what actually happened in 200, because I can suspend my disbelief quite far, but the issue is mostly with the (lack of) aftermath. And I don't think it's only this storyline that has a problem with the aftermath - just look at Hotch after Mr Scratch. No impact whatsoever. And then, what, mid-season 11 we'll suddenly get an episode where he is affected by it? I don't mind unrealistic things happening to the characters - it's a fictionalized TV show - but what on earth is the point if you're not going to follow through? And it's the follow-through that I find most interesting. The Forever People was unbelievably frustrating for me to watch - I just wanted to slap some sense into the characters. Never mind how delayed JJ's reaction was, there was still a lack of believable follow-through, and I think that was worse than just leaving things as they were and having no follow-up at all. I am holding out hope that with JJ's pregnancy, this whole thing will be dealt with appropriately, but I am worried it will end up being like The Forever People, and leaving things worse than they were before. We don't know if Will even knows about the miscarriage, so that could explain the lack of fallout from that. There's just something about Will though...I don't like him, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if things aren't nearly as perfect in their marriage as it seems.

Your church supports gay rights? That totally made my day :) What are some of the films that are being screened? And what were some of your ideas?

I had never heard of the exxon valdez, so I googled it and pulled up the "obit" from Nature. http://www.nature.com/news/exxon-valdez-laid-to-rest-1.11141 I see they weren't too creative with the writing of that clue :P I have also never played Risk, and never heard of Kamchatka. I'm glad the current champ won. Too bad he didn't get to keep his round and even number.

A bit about season 7: http://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/ncis-la-season-7-spoilers-reznikovs-backstory-uncovered-nell-eric-romance-takes-a-backseat-30289 Seems like Callen's father is indeed alive. Though I'm not entirely sure how reliable the source is.

The funny thing is, he puts a heavy accent on those foreign words so he sounds all proper/official/pompous, but he doesn't necessarily pronounce them properly. I can't remember what the word was, but there was some Italian word in a clue and he put on an Italian accent for it, but then pronounced it incorrectly.

John Wilkes Booth was wayyyy too easy for a DD. Plus they gave the year and mentioned a theatre...

I can't recall the exact wording of the diabetes clue. Was "juvenile diabetes" the term they used? Because type 1 diabetes (typically diagnosed in kids and sometime referred to as juvenile diabetes) is not at all influenced by obesity and the vast majority of epidemiological studies haven't found a link between it and autism either. If you're talking about type 2 diabetes, then obesity plays a significant role and autism really doesn't have anything to do with it. I was sad that nobody got The Mentalist.

The Canadian cities category made me laugh - the middle guy just kept guessing (wrong) and totally screwed himself over. And did he say Edmonton was in Ontario? To be fair, a couple of those questions were hard, but to just keep guessing yourself into the red at the end of the DJ round is pretty bad. And the "Winnipeg" response makes me think he'd never even heard of Moose Jaw, because if he had, it would have been a really really easy clue. I was surprised Edward (Moore) Kennedy was a TS. Sports is my weakest area so I would have bet $0 on FJ and wouldn't have even been able to hazard a guess. Though I was quite annoyed with Alex assuming that the woman would have a hard time with a sports category.

I put off watching this episode because of how much I hate the Booth addiction storyline (nothing to do with its execution, mostly because it's more drama than I like to see on my TV screen and I hate watching addicts spiral out of control) but I actually liked Booth and Brennan in this episode. I thought the actors did a great job in their scenes together, and it wasn't as cringe-worthy as I was anticipating. This is something like the tenth anvil they've dropped about Angela and Hodgins leaving, and I'm really not sure what's up with that. I can't understand why they'd write them off, and we haven't heard anything about the actors leaving, but they really seem like they're moving in that direction. Raj's girlfriend was really acting like Raj's girlfriend. I half expected her to suggest to Aubrey that they go to a cemetery to have sex.

I was also really surprised he missed the Seoul DD! I thought that was a gimme. War + 1950 = Korea. I don't think a "be more specific" was warranted for the Gulf War question. It's like if a contestant answered Ireland and the answer was Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is not "in" or a part of Ireland, it's a separate entity, so it's not "more specific". The Second Gulf War is not the (First) Gulf War.
