S01.E13: Some Famous Internet Guy
ItCouldBeWorse replied to chitowngirl's topic in St. Denis Medical
The hospital would also have had to either not replace them, let go of a lot of support staff, or find another way to cut expenses to make up for everything they had charged. They would have just harmed future patients. -

Founded in 1999, so not quite. Life was tough for budding artists back then. -

The fresh (?) flowers were dopey. A single plant would probably be sufficient. Clean premises, a usable bathroom, and a place to sit while waiting for your car, with drinks and snacks are beneficial to everyone. TikTok? Posting? -
I've never had genuine puttanesca, but I've had it with everything but the anchovies (so, with capers and olives), and it was very good. I like sardines, but anchovies have always been too salty for me (and I like salty foods above all others), so I don't know how I would feel about the genuine recipe.

It should only be taught in a public school as part of a history course or religious survey and treated as a work of literature, and to a much older age group!

Yes she did. But still left the printout on the kitchen counter, although I suppose Bitsy would have no way to interpret its significance.
-
Yeah, when Maddie told Edwin to keep Bitsy out of her office lock her office door so Bitsy couldn't get in, I wanted to yell that she left the papers she printed on the kitchen counter in plain sight, along with her reading glasses (maybe that's her home pair.) They also showed Maddie taking a photo of the document (not a scan), and then later show her strolling the halls with said document perfectly formatted for her phone, as if she had downloaded an app. Remind me how Alfie would know which room had what function 14 years ago? The firm has old plans easily accessible on line? At least a mention was made of Julian not noticing he's had the wrong card for a while.

I'm not going to rewatch, but I'm nearly positive this was a class action suit, with the football player as the named plaintiff, so if he drops out of the case, there is no named plaintiff, and the class action can't proceed. Which is why I'm also nearly positive that he wouldn't be able to settle just for himself. Once the class was certified, the judge would have to approve any settlement, and it would have to be beneficial to the entire class. Then individual plaintiffs can choose to opt out of the greater settlement and continue to pursue the lawsuit on their own.

She heard a noise. Yes. I forgot about him. That would be weird if he had snuck into her room. I suppose his visit was a surprise. Did she say she was expecting him? Yes, she said it when she was shown to her room. Agreed. He was drunk, and he said he's never drunk. Not a good time to invite him in. He told Amrita that his father died before he was born. Kate Jackson was on the show from 1976-1979, and Jaclyn Smith from 1976-1981. If the White Lotus characters are meant to be around 45-48, they could have been named after the then-popular actresses. (Leslie Bibb is 50 and Michelle Monaghan is 48.)

That was very careless of Maddie to pretend Alfie was going to use the company car to go home from school. And to double down on it when asked by Olympia how he liked it. Now it's Chekhov's company car. (I'm also not sure if it's really ok to charge such expenses to a company, tax-wise.) Picking up an employee's sick grandkid is different than an employee being driven home because it's late at night.) I have some issues with the named plaintiff in a class action suit taking an individual settlement, thus dooming the rest of the plaintiffs to nothing, because the suit is now over - as in, I don't think that's a permissible outcome. https://www.insideclassactions.com/2022/02/17/practice-pointers-should-a-putative-class-action-be-settled-on-an-individual-basis/ : Is an individual settlement even an option? In some situations an individual settlement is simply not an option. This will usually be true once a class has been certified. In that situation, the named plaintiff and his counsel have obligations to the class that will usually preclude a resolution that benefits them only. Any resolution of a certified class action lawsuit requires court approval, and one may expect a court to view with skepticism a proposed resolution that grants relief to the named plaintiff (and possibly also his counsel) but no one else.

Pretty sure Mr. Johnson would have had a key. It's also nice to see that besides her side-hustles, Ava also reads classic literature (Of Mice and Men.) I think she was trying to determine if he could afford to treat her in the manner to which she was accustomed, which would determine whether or not she would consider dating him. (The answer would be "no".) She subsequently succumbed to his charms anyway.

She dated Gregory's friend. Janine didn't deny supporting Tariq. She said: "Well . . . [scoff]. Relationships don't cost money. I mean, if you ignore my first relationship, I usually spend less when I'm dating someone . . . hm." Agreed. That's usually the progression on these will-they-or-won't they shows. Although I feel that Gregory needs his privacy more than Janine does. And we've seen he gets up really early.

Wardrobe Thread - Just What’s in Elsbeth’s Totes?
ItCouldBeWorse replied to chitowngirl's topic in Elsbeth
You're right! It's an altered Trina Turk. (Presumably altered because she doesn't wear sleeveless outfits, so they made it extra quirky): https://wornontv.net/496235/ -
Did anyone notice the blatant product placement for Izze when Elsbeth was interviewing the wife at the precinct? Luckily, Elsbeth really wanted the mango flavor! https://www.izze.com/

1776 is also available on YouTube: Within the first 15 minutes, there's a Sam Adams joke. And Ben Franklin is wearing an impressively ruffled jabot. -

Yes! I've corrected my error. Thanks. -
Yes, I thought I remembered seeing her swap cards, which I assume meant she swapped hers for his, and would thus want hers back. I can't remember; do they have actual pictures or names on them? If so, how likely is it that Julian wouldn't have noticed the swap?

I certainly hope that Getty, Trevor, Alberta and Thor filled the other ghost and Sam in on Elias's visit, and that she warned Jay to watch out for demons, but I fear not. -

Hetty does it too. "Sit Down, John/Open up the Window" 1776 is possibly my favorite movie musical, and it doesn't matter if you're interested in American history. There are so many memorable songs and wonderful performances. Long-time television fans will recognize many of the actors (William Daniels as John Adams; Ken Howard as Thomas Jefferson; John Cullum as Edward Rutledge; Blythe Danner as Abigail Adams Martha Jefferson), some of whom also starred in the Broadway musical. Howard da Silva is an excellent Franklin, and Ron Holgate is a wonderful Richard Henry Lee (he sings one of my favorite songs.) You can watch it for free (in the US) here: https://tubitv.com/movies/691740/1776?start=true&tracking=google-feed&utm_source=google-feed- 85 replies

Det. Rivers was cartoonishly over-the-top. It was nice to see Elsbeth aassert herself multiple times with him, even before she invoked her actual reason for being at the police department. Jordana Brewster as Chloe was very good; although I figured out that she had administered the fatal dose at the victim's request, I though it was to spare him the embarrassment of the trial. I thought it was a little strange that on Elizabeth's first visit to Chloe, she was allowed to overlap with her next client; you'd think she'd be more discreet, but maybe she knew the client wouldn't care. So the wife got financial control, but the architect husband had hidden away enough money to buy a 10 million dollar Cezanne? Kaya will need a new wardrobe once she becomes a detective. I wonder if she'll go shopping with Elsbeth.

Has Julian not noticed that he's been missing his id card for a few days? Did he simply get a new one, at which time his old one should have been deactivated? Or did Maddy swap hers for his, in which case, if anyone checks their records, their locations will have also been swapped? Does she have to slip Julian's card back into his pocket/swap back for hers?

I assume this episode was inspired by the Panera Bread Charged lemonade: https://www.cspinet.org/cspi-news/panera-stop-selling-charged-lemonade-following-lawsuits What if Maddy had mentioned Ellie and the opioids? Even consuming half an edible seemed risky. It's also nuts how the defendant was arrested, had an immediate Mapp hearing (suppression of evidence following illegal police search), followed by an immediate trial. Just crazy. With regard to the Mapp hearing, the prosecutor Olympia would have pushed that the DA to show evidence that the police knew about the open house policy that day at the sorority before they entered without a warrant. And of course the girl who did spike the drink should face charges for her criminally negligent behavior. When the DA came to visit Olympia to return evidence in person, I thought at first he was going to ask her out, not tell her that she was his "bear." So that's twice that an attorney on this show has inspired another attorney to declare a feud (the 1st having been Sarah and Maddy.) Didn't enjoy it then, won't enjoy it now. I'm also unclear on how the DA got to her office without her knowing he was in the building. Can anyone walk freely around the office without being approved by security? Any lawyer? Seems dangerous.

I was surprised that no one suggested that if Thor committed to eventual Hell, he'd likely be separated from Flower in the after-afterlife. (She did rob a bank, but is probably not condemned to an eternity of torment.)- 85 replies

I had some trouble believing Isaac didn't have an older ruffle of his own. Had he never attended a formal occasion? I would have liked a remark about how his old one(s) had been destroyed by the laundress using too much bleach or something.
