  1. I think Q is a lock for season 50, that's probably why they didn't show it.
  2. For Tiff, I imagine it's mostly for the cocktails, probably with a group of friends, they probably take turns getting appetizers, and that's her go to. I'm sure it's a young crowd, making their weekly hang session at Applebee's is probably kind of an ironic thing, like how young hipsters liked drinking PBR because it was funny (I know, also cheap).
  3. I eat there once a year on Veteran's Day, I get a free steak dinner (the smallest steak you can imagine, but hey, free is free). I did go there quite a few times back in the 90's, their Bourbon Street Steak was pretty good. It is better than TGIF (wouldn't even do that one if it was free), Outback is nothing special, out of most comparable chains, I would say Chili's is probably the best, but that's not great either. Texas Roadhouse is quite good, but they crank the music up to 11, I'm too old for that. I really feel like the producers probably expected that Liz would get enough food to eat through the game, they expected enough people to step out for rice, I even think Jeff's popcorn was really meant for Liz, they probably thought the rest would just hand it over to her, and if it had been anyone other than Q, I'm sure she would have been chosen (he really is a different breed of cat), which, again, I think the producers fully expected to happen. It's kind of comical that all the ways of getting her food within the bounds of the game have been thwarted.
  4. I think the producers have been trying to get her food, the rice if enough people sat out, her favorite burger, I even think Probst bringing out popcorn was really meant for her. I think in each case, they expected the other tribe members would help her out, but not with this group. Although, before Liz went completely apeshit, it looked like Kenzie might have been about to give up her spot on the reward for her.
  5. I remember awhile back there were rumors of a Third Time's the Charm season, basically a third chance for people that have been on it twice, with another fan vote to determine the players. I think that would be fun.
  6. I know he's beloved by most fans, but boy, I so despised Rupert, and not in the fun Survivor way, the show's fixation on him almost made me stop watching the show. I found nothing about him and his antics entertaining or humorous, I'd rather watch nothing but these "new era" casts than ever see that guy on my tv screen ever again.
  7. I guess to play devil's advocate, I would say that Jem probably didn't expect that they would dig that deep, I mean, it looked like something out of Raider's of the Lost Ark. The producers want this stuff to be found, they're not going to bury something halfway to Hades, and if they did, the earth would be looser, that area clearly hadn't already been dug up. She also couldn't have known about the giant ants, and I really have to question why they dug for days in one spot, getting bitten by bugs, I think that's more on them than Jem.
  8. I tried to listen to his interview on RHAP, I had to turn it off, just going on and on about how inspirational he is.
  9. I don't really have a problem with the fake idol of it all, but the mean spirited way they were talking about her was really hard to watch. Apparently, Jess had already done her own idol search in that area, and come up empty, so that's why she was walking the other way. They also knew that she hadn't slept in days, and probably was a little loopy because of that. If you want to make sure someone feels safe, then sure, fake idol them, but the mean spirited comments are a turn off, at least to me.
  10. It was Sprint that awarded that when they were sponsoring the show. I had to look it up, but it was China through Caramoan (Survivor did their own for Rupert on All Stars, and awarded cars to fan favorites on Panama and Cook Islands). Malcolm was the last player to win fan favorite.
  11. I always enjoyed them too, but for me, it was just fun tv, after the show was over, other than commenting on it in forums like these, I never gave it a second thought. These days, with social media, people try their best to ruin people's lives, or at the very least, make life difficult for them, they almost treat it like a job or something. I think production tries to steer the show away from bitter juries for that reason, who would want to go on the show if your life might be in danger because of something you said on a gameshow? That's my guess anyway. I have to hand it to Jake, he knew he was drawing dead, but he kept trying to turn it around, as a viewer, that's what I want to see. If he had just shrugged his shoulders, and went along for the ride, he would look less silly, but he gave it his all anyway, so props to him for that.
  12. I guess Jake isn't the kind of lawyer you hire, he's one that the state assigns to you when you can't afford to hire one. Still, I like the way he dealt with Drew, that guy's even more douchey than typical douche bros.
  13. I like her too, she seems like a sweetheart, I hope she gets another chance to play.
  14. He's a big time mogul now, he owns the Weather Channel! Not sure if he's a billionaire yet, but he must be close. He did an interview on Marc Maron's podcast, and he said in the early 90's, he produced his own syndicated show, and went out and sold it himself, and found he had a knack for business. I don't know about Sarah Purcell, but I remember hearing that Skip Stephenson passed away some years ago.
  15. I spent years being mad at Osten for quitting, then a few years ago, Savage mentioned in an interview that he actually had a staph infection most of the time he was there. Now I'm impressed he held out as long as he did, and wondering why medical didn't pull him from the game If that's true, we really shouldn't be grouping him with the Hannah's and Naonka's of the world, and he probably deserved a second chance.
  16. I didn't think it did, my point was more that I would rather see that than the other stuff Probst likes to give time to.
  17. I enjoy it, but I might still agree with that if it was taking time away from us hearing more from some of the players with less screen time than the final four and the big personalities. But that's not the case, instead we hear from little kids in the audience with a crush on a player, celebrities that don't even watch Survivor, promoting their CBS shows, and all matter of unrelated nonsense. If the 5 minutes or less talking about Sia's gifts means one less moppet or random celebrity promoting a CBS show for Probst to talk to in the audience, then please, give me more Sia. If you don't like it, don't worry, she'll probably move on to other things before too long. She's not the first celebrity Survivor fan to do this, Rosie O'Donnel used to give out cars in the early years to her favorite players, and then, I think, all of the cast. Not sure what she started watching instead.
  18. My memory of that is that the principal of the school saw it, and her jaw dropped. A day or two later, Denise appeared on the CBS Morning Show with the principal, and the principal explained that Denise had applied for the janitor job and got it, like a year or so before she was even on Survivor. She said Denise was well aware of how to apply for open positions if she wants to do that for the lunch lady position. Denise apologized, and said she was donating the money to charity, she didn't look happy about it, and I think she was basically told by Burnett that she would be doing that. This. I kind of enjoy the Sia thing, but there's plenty of things that they do on the reunion show that bother the crap out of me, talking to kids in the audience, bringing out Kevin Hart, who has obviously never seen an episode of Survivor in his life, to promote a new show, etc. But not enough to shut it off I guess, lol.
  19. She did, she gave Rick Devins 100k, I couldn't stand that guy, but it's her money, and she found him entertaining, so more power to her. She offered Joe 15k, which he would only accept if she didn't mind if he gave it to charity. She didn't, and he did, that's our Joey Amazing. She also gave Aurora 15k because she admired her for her experience in the foster care system. That's two white players last season that she gave less than her top gift to. I don't know how she comes up with the figures, but I think it's nice of her, and it's kind of fun to hear about, to me at least. It's the internet, so she's going to get pooped on by some people for it, she's rich and famous (although, I had never heard of her until she popped up on Survivor, and still never hear of her except for these reunion shows), so she probably has a thick enough skin to endure it, I doubt she reads stuff like this anyway, for exactly this reason.
  20. I think production and Jeff were certain that the game would police itself, Janet gathered her posse, Kellee had two idols, and I think they were positive she would play one of them. Dan would be gone, and that would be the metoo moment for the show they could crow about. When Kellee didn't play an idol, they were caught flat footed. Dan's not the first person they didn't pull from the game when I thought they should have, I felt strongly that Will should have been pulled from the game, I still think that Second Chances was a way to quickly change the subject from that, delaying the season they already had in the can. I even think a case can be made for removing Brandon Hantz in his first season for his beyond creepy fixation on Mikayla. All that being said, I hope this isn't the end of Survivor, I don't think they are bad people, and I think (hope) they will learn from this.
  21. When Rob was talking about the All Star season on RHAP, he said they wouldn't up the million, but all the figures up to that were increased. He said that people ended up just playing to place because it was still pretty good money. I would like to see the top prize go up, but I doubt it will happen, right now, Survivor is a pretty inexpensive show for them to produce, if they up the prize money, they might decide it's not worth it anymore, and just program another NCIS spin off or something, so I'm fine with the million dollar prize if it helps keep the show on the air.
  22. I don't think it was unnecessary, Jay thought he found it, so he stopped looking. If David hadn't planted it, Jay might have found the real one.
  23. Wow, I didn't know anything like that was going on with Skupin, although, I have to say, I didn't much care for that reporter, he didn't seem very professional. It sounds like Skupin doesn't even know what he got into with that Ponzi scheme, the child porn thing is just really sad. I doubt the republicans will be asking him to run for congress again anytime soon. I was surprised, but I ended up really likiing Lisa, hope she comes back again.
  24. Well, they did have Bryce on the beauty tribe before, have they ever not been trolling us.
