  1. I know he's beloved by most fans, but boy, I so despised Rupert, and not in the fun Survivor way, the show's fixation on him almost made me stop watching the show. I found nothing about him and his antics entertaining or humorous, I'd rather watch nothing but these "new era" casts than ever see that guy on my tv screen ever again.
  2. I guess to play devil's advocate, I would say that Jem probably didn't expect that they would dig that deep, I mean, it looked like something out of Raider's of the Lost Ark. The producers want this stuff to be found, they're not going to bury something halfway to Hades, and if they did, the earth would be looser, that area clearly hadn't already been dug up. She also couldn't have known about the giant ants, and I really have to question why they dug for days in one spot, getting bitten by bugs, I think that's more on them than Jem.
  3. I tried to listen to his interview on RHAP, I had to turn it off, just going on and on about how inspirational he is.
  4. I don't really have a problem with the fake idol of it all, but the mean spirited way they were talking about her was really hard to watch. Apparently, Jess had already done her own idol search in that area, and come up empty, so that's why she was walking the other way. They also knew that she hadn't slept in days, and probably was a little loopy because of that. If you want to make sure someone feels safe, then sure, fake idol them, but the mean spirited comments are a turn off, at least to me.
  5. It was Sprint that awarded that when they were sponsoring the show. I had to look it up, but it was China through Caramoan (Survivor did their own for Rupert on All Stars, and awarded cars to fan favorites on Panama and Cook Islands). Malcolm was the last player to win fan favorite.
  6. I always enjoyed them too, but for me, it was just fun tv, after the show was over, other than commenting on it in forums like these, I never gave it a second thought. These days, with social media, people try their best to ruin people's lives, or at the very least, make life difficult for them, they almost treat it like a job or something. I think production tries to steer the show away from bitter juries for that reason, who would want to go on the show if your life might be in danger because of something you said on a gameshow? That's my guess anyway. I have to hand it to Jake, he knew he was drawing dead, but he kept trying to turn it around, as a viewer, that's what I want to see. If he had just shrugged his shoulders, and went along for the ride, he would look less silly, but he gave it his all anyway, so props to him for that.
  7. I guess Jake isn't the kind of lawyer you hire, he's one that the state assigns to you when you can't afford to hire one. Still, I like the way he dealt with Drew, that guy's even more douchey than typical douche bros.
  8. I like her too, she seems like a sweetheart, I hope she gets another chance to play.
  9. He's a big time mogul now, he owns the Weather Channel! Not sure if he's a billionaire yet, but he must be close. He did an interview on Marc Maron's podcast, and he said in the early 90's, he produced his own syndicated show, and went out and sold it himself, and found he had a knack for business. I don't know about Sarah Purcell, but I remember hearing that Skip Stephenson passed away some years ago.
  10. I spent years being mad at Osten for quitting, then a few years ago, Savage mentioned in an interview that he actually had a staph infection most of the time he was there. Now I'm impressed he held out as long as he did, and wondering why medical didn't pull him from the game If that's true, we really shouldn't be grouping him with the Hannah's and Naonka's of the world, and he probably deserved a second chance.
  11. I didn't think it did, my point was more that I would rather see that than the other stuff Probst likes to give time to.
  12. I enjoy it, but I might still agree with that if it was taking time away from us hearing more from some of the players with less screen time than the final four and the big personalities. But that's not the case, instead we hear from little kids in the audience with a crush on a player, celebrities that don't even watch Survivor, promoting their CBS shows, and all matter of unrelated nonsense. If the 5 minutes or less talking about Sia's gifts means one less moppet or random celebrity promoting a CBS show for Probst to talk to in the audience, then please, give me more Sia. If you don't like it, don't worry, she'll probably move on to other things before too long. She's not the first celebrity Survivor fan to do this, Rosie O'Donnel used to give out cars in the early years to her favorite players, and then, I think, all of the cast. Not sure what she started watching instead.
  13. My memory of that is that the principal of the school saw it, and her jaw dropped. A day or two later, Denise appeared on the CBS Morning Show with the principal, and the principal explained that Denise had applied for the janitor job and got it, like a year or so before she was even on Survivor. She said Denise was well aware of how to apply for open positions if she wants to do that for the lunch lady position. Denise apologized, and said she was donating the money to charity, she didn't look happy about it, and I think she was basically told by Burnett that she would be doing that. This. I kind of enjoy the Sia thing, but there's plenty of things that they do on the reunion show that bother the crap out of me, talking to kids in the audience, bringing out Kevin Hart, who has obviously never seen an episode of Survivor in his life, to promote a new show, etc. But not enough to shut it off I guess, lol.
  14. She did, she gave Rick Devins 100k, I couldn't stand that guy, but it's her money, and she found him entertaining, so more power to her. She offered Joe 15k, which he would only accept if she didn't mind if he gave it to charity. She didn't, and he did, that's our Joey Amazing. She also gave Aurora 15k because she admired her for her experience in the foster care system. That's two white players last season that she gave less than her top gift to. I don't know how she comes up with the figures, but I think it's nice of her, and it's kind of fun to hear about, to me at least. It's the internet, so she's going to get pooped on by some people for it, she's rich and famous (although, I had never heard of her until she popped up on Survivor, and still never hear of her except for these reunion shows), so she probably has a thick enough skin to endure it, I doubt she reads stuff like this anyway, for exactly this reason.
