  1. Yeah, but third-place money is still okay: $100,000. Buzzy and Austin teams got $75,000, so $25,000 each. Nice money, at least before taxes.
  2. He should have been your "uncle" or "cousin" or something. Just like I'm "the frozen food heiress" when people ask me about my last name. It earns you nice street cred. I told him to bet only $5,000 on that second DD but he didn't listen. If he had pulled it off though, he would have been golden. I was rooting Team Buzzy since I'm a huge Alex fan; I wanted to see him in the finals. I guess the only upside to today's game is Austin is out too. "Hey Austin, what does it feel like to be proven you are NOT (even close to) the smartest guy in the room?" Leonard is a cool-headed player though. I like him much. It also seems like a lot of Jeopardy brainiacs went to Brown. This year's college champ goes there, Dhruv, if I remember correctly I have a problem with the Conte Crayon being ruled the same as a pencil. Didn't that clue say it contained graphite? Conte Crayons look like pastel sticks but they are hard and waxy. A pencil is graphite surrounded by (typically) a wooden holder. Five years of art school and a BFA should give me "street cred" in that clue. Plus I own a ton load of Conte Crayons and pencils. ETA: Well, I'm a dumbass. I looked up what Conte Crayons are made of: "a blend of natural pigments, kaolin clay and graphite." I don't know where the graphite is, but it is in there. So ... never mind. Duh.
  3. @Tunia posted a link to the 538 website if you go back one page.
  4. It's short for "triple stumper," meaning none of the three players knew the answer.
  5. Or, to quote Ken Jennings ... wet fish. More likely waiting for the judges' okay-or-nay via his earpiece. I know. I felt so sorry for him. I can't imagine the stress of being on a superstar's team and then tanking my only chance. I mean, it's JUST one million dollars at stake. No big deal, right? I'd almost rather not play than live with that forever. I think these clues have been progressively more difficult. While yeah, I got the simple TS of wet hen, I couldn't answer about 90 percent of the other clues. Even FJ was an asterisk for these brainiacs. I do enjoy the fast play and no messing around. Boards have been cleared every game, so that's a plus -- revealing more clues I can't answer!
  6. Especially since they probably didn't have any Confederate money with them or their stars-and-bars flag to wave since they were from Washington.
  7. While we're on the subject of BMS Ramses, Ripkin and Loman, I'll add that the answer of "bovine" surprised me. Sheep and goats are bovids (noun) of the family bovidae while bovine (noun) is an animal of the tribe bovini that includes cattle, buffalo and bison. As an adjective, bovine is of or pertaining to cattle. Not sheep or goats. Yeah, I know, it gave me a headache too. Side note: It is rare to see or "catch" a cud but I did once when one of my dairy goats hocked one up and I got a full blast of the smell. Conclusion: Be grateful if you live your entire life without ever encountering a cud. (None of my sheep were ever so rude as to cough a cud at me, so I can't comment on that.)
  8. "Kit Carson!" yells Saber!
  9. Bad Conceptual Theater! Irwin Mainway! Also Dan Aykroyd. I can see how we're getting mixed up. Damn you, Ken Jennings.
  10. And for the poster traumatized by Colby's dancing: This really is a gif but I couldn't download it so this one pic is all you get. You're welcome.
  11. BMS please! Do you mean Fox Trot the comic? I'd never heard of iguanodon, but Ken is a comics fan plus also wrote a Junior Genius Guide about dinosaurs. "Foxtrot" is a very special word for me which is why the BMS please! First, nice to see you again @Tunia. It's been a while. Thanks for the 538 info. I am positive that's exactly why the FJ bet. Great reporting job, plus, as "they" say: "And now you know." Before I realized he was doing a take-off on E. Buzz Miller, I thought I'd squandered my five years of art history classes. Once I caught on, it was a hilarious in joke. I thought "read my mind," so I was stumped. I agree, the clue was not well done, even though the player managed a correct answer. Thanks for that explanation. I thought the crossed-out "divorce" maybe was another insider joke. I've learned several new things from this single Jeopardy episode. GFM!
  12. The key is knowing who E. Buzz Miller is. If you don't, you don't get the joke. I found this tidbit on Wikipedia: Jennings appeared on the second-season premiere of 500 Questions on May 26, 2016 and was eliminated on the fourth question by winter 2012 college champion Monica Thieu, leaving with no winnings. A valid reason for Ken picking Monica for his team.
  13. No, it was an intentional joke right out of E. Buzz Miller's Art Classics from 1977's SNL. Check it out. "This is a really nice painting of a broad on a couch."
  14. Did anyone catch Ken's E. Buzz Miller's pronunciation of "Titian"?
  15. I am laughing because Monster is T-Pain. LMAO. For so many reasons. I do wonder about Nick asking everyone why they would do this (stupid) show. Really Nick? Why are YOU doing this stupid show? Still laughing over T-Pain beating Gladys Knight. And, well, everyone.
  16. A cro-magnum would be a 2-liter bottle of champagne, right? It made me start laughing and I had a difficult time stopping. Whereas I want to keep seeing these players every day for the rest of my life. (I don't have that long to go so humor me.) She was highly nervous. Read her tweets on what it took for her to bet FJ in the last round (@monica_too_). Great insight into the stress she was under. The FJ category was good with me. I was alive during some of the 1900s. Then the clue was revealed and I was like, "What? Who?" Then the answer was revealed and I was like, "Huh? Gah!" Total loss for me. I couldn't have answered if the answer were given to me. I did get Five And Dime (this was a clue/answer not too many games ago) and Desert. Not that I could have answered most of the clues those players answered, which cancels out any inkling of me feeling smart. Now I'll STFU so ya'll can go have a drink. *slurp*
  17. You can have that game now given I'm one of the more pesky posters here. That, plus I can hear many of you thinking it. Might as well get some hydration out of it!
  18. That all depends on whether Trebek said, "Yes, olive oil" before the judges signaled in his earpiece that they wanted BMS. Trebek does like to give the full answer when players do not. Personally, I would ask for BMS since I use corn oil and canola oil, plus there is just plain old vegetable oil. I'll let you know when I get asked to host this show.
  19. I didn't FF and I never saw him again after his introduction at the beginning. Cushy job! This can be managed by four judges on The Voice. You'd think three judges on this show could handle it. I thought she had when the contemporary dancer with the bun on her head danced. She was a twin for Eva and even had on Eva's outfit. I loved Poppin' John. I could watch him all day. Then the judges let us know what they are really looking for, not "dancing," or even different styles of dance. They want people flying through the air and doing tricks. Some Cirque du Soleil acrobats could win this show easily. I also didn't like how they ranked on tappers, like that's not "real dance" either given they don't fly or trick. *sigh* Fred Astaire wouldn't even make it through the auditions on this show.
  20. Boldface above is mine because that's the best description I've seen to describe Matt's play. I think he's a hoot. I think players can switch out what part they play in their second game. It's all happenin' in those strategy meetings! I got a laugh out of Monica's interview, "Parents, don't let your kids go on Jeopardy if you want them to be doctors." She's witty plus smart. And she looked embarrassed by her college video replay, which was funny in itself. Ken Jennings tweeted that she was wearing his team colors today.
  21. Season 3. Who knew? And who knows the new host? Looking forward to some good dancers. JLo keeps changing her clothes and hair. It's making me dizzy. The two teens in the orange sweaters reminded me of the dancers who won Denmark's (or some small country) Got Talent and were on AGT Champions. The judges hated them.
  22. I've already forgotten. LOL! But I thought John will be able to steal him when Adam votes him off his team, so there's that upside.
  23. I have the same opinion. I love Matt for all the same reasons you gave. I especially like his going for the next clue while AT is trying to pad the episode with needless jabber. Loved his play today, not that his being on my Fantasy Team has anything to do with that. Ken's face was hilarious after Matt's big DD bet that he answered correctly. It made me laugh so hard I couldn't hear the next clue. You mean like today, when he read a clue and pronounced "Barcelona" as if it had 30 syllables? That was a big talking point on Celebrity Apprentice when one team named itself Forté and pronounced it for-tay when it should have been fort. Don't hate me for watching that craptastic show, it helped me form an opinion that I still hold today, so there's that. HEY! I got Spike Jones. My mom loved him so I couldn't help but know who he was. He was hilarious and so much fun "back in the day." When I saw FJ category, I thought, "Finally, yeay, my BFA will come in handy." Alps are in Italy so I thought Michaelangelo right away, but "de Medici" was his patron, not his name. So I went to Rembrandt, then started wondering was that his first or last name. Then time ran out. So no FJ for me today, Contest Master. I obviously overlooked the tip off of North Sea. *sigh*
  24. I hate when that happens. And this happens even more, including the first singer tonight: The kid talks about how fabulous one of the judges is, he'd give anything to work with John Legend. Then he freaking picks Adam. WTH with this show.
