  1. "You went home with an 11 year old girl." "In this climate?"
  2. He was with the "Bohemian Rhapsody" cast at the SAG awards last night, so maybe not possible, but yeah, this would have been great.
  3. Yeah, generally when they have a host/MG combo the performer usually has some kind of acting background- Miley, Taylor Swift, Timberlake, Drake, etc. I wasn't aware that Halsey wanted to try and "act". I can certainly understand them getting her to host from an attracting-a-young-audience viewpoint, but just don't know that comedy is necessarily her thing.
  4. I wonder if eventually she might consider auditioning for SNL? (Assuming the show stays on the air that long) I am just thinking about Melissa Villasenor and how she was on AGT and parlayed that into being on SNL. Then again, I guess doing impressions is a skill that translates more to SNL than ventriloquism, but you never know. Her talent for voices and singing might suit her well.
  5. I noticed this episode was written by a woman who's a "Family Guy" writer (she's the Asian woman with the really long name that they've made fun of several times on FG), so it is surprising there wasn't more humor in the episode. I don't know if there's any other crossover between the Family Guy and Orville writing staffs. Edit: Cherry Chevapravatdumrong
  6. Yeah, weird joke implying Chris got killed (then again, we're supposed to accept it as canon I guess that Peter got his head ripped off TWO times in this episode).
  7. Yeah, it was weird that Jillian was so in sync with people the entire game and then let her person down for the $25,000 question both times. I did think "sucker punch" instead of "fruit punch" (did anyone notice Kenan's "Black people love Kool-Aid!"), but most younger people would say "Genie in a bottle" I think, because of the Christina Aguilera song, before they would think "Message in a bottle".
  8. Has it officially been announced as being cancelled? I know it hasn't been picked up for the "back 9" yet and the last of its 13 episodes airs next week. If it does get cancelled that would be a shame, as I think it's a better show overall than "The Neighborhood" which seems to be doing better in the ratings.
  9. It's funny that this is the second time Cecily has impersonated someone and then they've hosted the very next episode right after that. (It happened in Season 42 when she played Lin-Manuel Miranda in a "Celebrity Family Feud" sketch and then Miranda hosted the next episode)
  10. BBC America skipped this one I guess? The episode that's airing this Friday appears to be a New Year's special which aired on Dec. 31st in the UK.
  11. I would imagine whoever wins at the Golden Globes might affect who hosts in January, maybe. They might have had to plan things out farther in advance though, I dunno. Obviously Lady Gaga and/or Bradley Cooper would be pretty good "gets" for the show. I would imagine Rami Malek would be a good host too (we already know he kind of looks like Pete). I think Rebel Wilson might be a good host for the Valentine's Day episode (which I guess would be the February 9th episode?) I'm surprised she hasn't ever hosted before. Similarly, Brie Larson would be a good choice for the March 2nd episode. Weirdly, I think her first episode was never rerun on NBC for some reason.
  12. Yeah, it's probably not a good sign that the majority of that list is from last season. I will definitely agree that Adam Driver's oil baron and Beck and Kyle's fighting kids belong on there, but kinda mystified by their inclusion of that Steve Carell Thanksgiving sketch (which is one in a long line of very similar sketches that almost always seem to involve Cecily singing in them).
  13. There won't be a show on January 5th because the Golden Globes are that weekend. I would imagine the show will come back on Jan. 12th.
  14. She has a song called "Boo'd Up" which is actually quite good ("good" in that it's not a dude mumbling a lot through an AutoTune like 3/4ths of the musical guests so far this season). And yes, Carell hasn't hosted since 2008 (!) so this is long overdue.
  15. I thought he said "C-!" at the end, as if he was rating the episode (or his death). Yeah, it took me a while to figure out what movie they were parodying in the second segment, and calling it "Multip-Lisa-ty" didn't help.
  16. Betsy Sodaro is hilarious. Between her in this episode and Mary Holland in the first episode as the human Alexa, they are really trying hard to find funny character actors for even the small roles in this show. I am surprisingly enjoying this show too, for a multi-cam sitcom on CBS. Damon Wayans Jr. is just naturally funny. Even when I could kind of predict the joke coming, like the spooky doll not burning at the end, I still was laughing at it.
  17. This actor kind of reminds me of Kenan Thompson in his mannerisms, his facial expressions and the way he reacts to things.
  18. I think Rami Malek is a good guess too, especially since he sort of resembles Pete (which they've already made reference to on the show by having Pete play him in a "Mr. Robot" parody). Given that Chadwick Boseman and Sterling K. Brown already hosted last season, Michael B. Jordan seems likely as well. Emma Stone has an upcoming movie called "The Favourite" which is already getting some Oscar buzz. She hosted not that long ago in December of 2016, but it was a pretty well-received episode (and led to the "Wells For Boys" sketch. Would love to see another Julio Torres-written piece with her in it). If not her, then Jonah Hill could host to promote his directorial debut "mid90s" (and Emma would probably cameo in that episode, I'm sure). That would make Jonah a five-timer (he's one of the few people left who legitimately has a chance of achieving this any time soon).
  19. It's Kanye dressed as a water bottle....j/k. She is a former comedic rapper, now actress who appeared this summer in the movies "Ocean's 8" and "Crazy Rich Asians". Much like Tiffany Haddish last season, she had kind of a breakout summer and thus her SNL hosting stint. Also the first female Asian host since Lucy Liu in 2000. Actually, maybe the only one besides her? That I can think of anyway.
  20. It's nice that Jay Pharoah has become their go-to guy when they want to have Kanye be on the show, he's done it a couple times now.
  21. I'm looking forward to this ep and hoping to actually see Awkwafina in sketches. There were so many extraneous factors going on in the premiere (all the Kavanaugh stuff, Kanye being Kanye, etc.) that the Adam Driver ep didn't actually have much of Driver in it (although he did kill it as the old oil baron guy).
  22. Tonight's season finale is "The Kardashians vs. The West Family and Jana Kramer vs. Gary Busey", but it's listed as a new episode. I can't tell if this is just a repeat of the season premiere (cut down to 30 minutes) and then a second half hour that's new, or if they actually had unused footage from the Kardashians vs. Wests episode that they made into a new episode. It's probably the former I'm sure.
  23. Yeah, Driver's actually not a bad choice...he was pretty good in his first episode and it led to at least one classic sketch, the Kylo Ren Undercover Boss sketch. Unfortunately, the main forces behind that sketch (Taran and Bobby) are now both no longer on the show. I believe Mikey Day co-wrote that sketch with them, so he'll probably still come up with something Star Wars-related for Adam to do. I don't know that I would have gone with him for the premiere, necessarily. They probably wanted Lady Gaga but couldn't get her because of her not being available, having to do press for her movie. Maybe she'll host the second episode of the season. I didn't think even Kanye's fans were enjoying his recent output, so the MG choice is a little baffling, yeah.
