Rumored Presidential Appointments
needschocolate replied to mythoughtis's topic in Current Events & Politics
Bolding mine: I'm sure she is aware that the Clintons weren't the only ones to have private servers and delete emails. Powell, Rice, Dubya. So unless she's going to call them out as well, and not talk as if the Clintons were the only ones to do so? On this, she can stay mum. The foundation: I can't think of a better FUCK YOU! than to use funds/money from such countries to help those people that these countries kill and abuse. But that's just me. It is not just you. It is okay to hold the private server against Hillary and only Hillary because those other people with private servers were not running for president in 2016, but she was (/sarcasm). These people need to stop finding tiny loopholes to "justify" their different rules for Clinton. I am so tired of the hypocrisy. As for the foundation getting money from these countries, would she be happier if these countries kept their money to help pay the costs associated with abuse and discrimination? -

I posted this in the Hillary thread, in response to another Gilmore Girls comment (Rory wanting to write college essay on Hillary Clinton), but it should be mentioned here - I have been having Gilmore Girls on in the background, in preparation for their Netflix return. Had an episode on recently that originally aired in November, 2001. Sooki and Lorelai are hoping to get property to open their own inn and Lorelai opens an envelope containing the results of the title search - Lorelai: Guess who owns it Sooki: As long as it isn't that bastard, Donald Trump. -

I hope Trump refuses to pay Kelly Anne and all the other surrogates and they all turn on him, telling all his supporters what deranged toddler he really is. It may be the only hope for his supporters stop supporting him and make them "once bitten, twice shy" about following someone like him ever again. I feel confident that Rudy and Chris will drop him and latch on to whichever republican is leading the polls next time, which will make his children his only "friends." I vote no on the heart attack too, it might get him some sympathy.- 8.1k replies

I don't do twitter (I "waste"** enough time on PTV), has Trump sent any tweets recently? Rumor is that caretakers took his twitter away, but they are supposedly saying they didn't, perhaps because they are realizing that it makes him look like a toddler. If they really did take him twitter away from him then they are stupid - you don't stop tweeting, you jsut make sure you are tweeting for him. Sure, some people might notice that his tweets are suddenly a bit more rational and more about policy than revenge and whining, but there would be the small chance that someone night start thinking he was presidential-ish. What if it was true, that the media was really against him, that 98% of his speeches were about policy and uplifting messages on making America great, and that the media is just showing the 2% where he criticizes Clinton? Then he is an idiot for continuing to spend 2% of his speech criticizing her since he knows that is what they will show. one of the many, many, oh so many, you wouldn't believe how many, things that annoy me about Trump and this whole election, is that the Trumpsters keep saying that the media focuses on the wrong parts of his speeches. Then stop saying those parts. If all you ever say is about you policies and actual true facts then the media would report on something other than the negative stuff. ** I put "waste" in quotes because have spent a lot more time on the current event board than I really should, but I would not consider any of it a waste of my time. I hope that sometime tomorrow this board turns into a bunch of yipee-ing, and whoo-hoo-ing and I find myself in an exhausted heap on the couch from doing my happy dance till my feet hurt. But before I am too exhausted (and, so I don't jinx anything, or before I am too depressed) to post, I just want to say that I am extremely happy to have all of you people on this board. You have been a wealth of information and have help me find perspective. I am fortunate enough to live in a very blue part of a very blue state. I have only seen one anti-Hillary ad. The robo-calls are for local elections. I have not seen a yard with a Trump sign (haven't seen any Clinton signs either, now that I think about it). I look at the red states on the maps and I wonder about my fellow Americans. I read these posts and I am comforted to know that those red states aren't as red as my blue state is blue. I wish a lot of luck to all of you who are living is the red and the toss up states - I hope you can vote (and celebrate) in peace.- 8.1k replies

Flea Market Flip - General Discussion
needschocolate replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Flea Market Flip
Saw a recent episode where they turned a dresser into a table. They replaced the front of the dresser with tabletop. and then put it on hydraulics so that it could be opened with a remote. When the tabletop was down, it looked just like a dresser - Which means that when it was set up as a table, the table top wasn't flat - it had 6-8 knobs sticking up, plus the drawer fronts. It would difficult to eat off of it. The woman who bought it said she did because it was one of a kind. She was right, but sometimes things are one of a kind because it is a stupid idea. She also marveled at the amount of storage there was in the dresser carcass, but failed to realize that the only way to get to all that storage is to crawl under the table. -

Oh great - now I have to switch to eggs and bagels for breakfast. I may never eat toast again. Thanksgiving at the Conway House - Aunt Martha: Kellyanne, is this gravy homemade? Kellyanne: Emails Uncle Albert: Do you have any moe butter? Kellyanne: Emails. Little Joey: Where is the bathroom? Kellyane: Emails, emails, emails Well, if there is one thing you can count on with this friend - She always makes bad choices. Let's see, Trump has a habit of complaining about someone else doing something, then he ends up doing it himself. For example, Trump complained when Romney (?) did not want to release his tax returns, and Trump doesn't release his own. Trump has complained that the Clintons get paid for giving speeches, therefore, I predict you are correct, Trump will start charging for giving speeches after the election is over. -

I found myself saying, yet again, How can anyone be so stupid/clueless/ignorant/gullible/illogical as to support Donald Trump. Then it hit me - that is what Trump supporters think of people like me, that I am being ridiculous to believe what I believe when there is so much proof that I am wrong. I imagine there are Trump supporters sitting around saying "How can the Trump haters be so dumb as to not see that the immigrants are ruining the country, that the illegal Mexicans are the root of most of the crime, that if all countries had nukes they would be afraid to use them, that any tax plan that reduces the taxes paid by the really really rich would benefit me, that not allowing mental patients to own guns will eventually lead to the country becoming a dictatorship and we won't be able to fight back because we would have no guns, that Hillary gave classified information to a pedophile, that if abortion were illegal all babies would be born healthy and raised by loving homes, that a man who could convince a model to marry him must be a upstanding guy, that all men want to be able to grab a women wherever they want and that women like it, etc.." My attempt at empathy isn't helping, I still think they are stupid/clueless/ignorant/gullible/illogical for supporting him.- 8.1k replies

I don't know, those paper cuts can be pretty irritating... Seriously, the protester was in danger - he was getting beaten by the Trump supporters who didn't like his anti-Trump sign. He was actually lucky that someone yelled "gun" because it probably stopped the beating.- 8.1k replies

Kevin Can Wait - General Discussion

I watched the first couple of episodes and didn't like them. I meant to stop recording, but I must have forgotten. Now I have a few episodes waiting on the DVR. So, I did the most logical thing - I checked in here to see if the show has gotten any better. Thanks. You have freed up some space on my DVR. -
Donald John Trump: 2016 President-Elect

But there are some very fundamentally things they have in common. We want to be able to afford a place to live and to put food on our tables, we want our children to be well educated, we want our crime rates to be low and to feel safe in our own neighborhoods, we want others to not go to bed hungry, we want our drinking water and our air to be clean, we want our cars to be able to protect us, we want medical care that is affordable, the list goes on and on. We differ on how to best get what we want and we differ on which want is more important when there is a conflict between them. And therein lies the problem. We need to be able to compromise and we are not doing a good job of it. I blame congress for this divide. They stopped compromising and instead vote against things that may be good for everyone because it was the other side's idea. They stress the minuses of anything the other side created and treat the other side as though it was the enemy trying to destroy the country. Case in point - the ACA. Before the ACA was a possibility, you could ask any member of congress if they think everyone should have affordable and good health care, and they all would have said yes. Some may have added that they didn't think it was possible without being a financial drain on the nation, but they would still want their constituents to to have good medical care. At the other end of the spectrum, some may have added that they thought all medical care should be free. But they would all think that quality, affordable medical care was a good idea. Well, the ACA managed to get through, and even those who "invented" it know that there are problems, but any attempt to fix it is lost because one side doesn't want the other to get credit for instituting something good. Instead of fixing something that is close, they would rather scrap the whole thing and some up with something else - so that their idea, not the idea from the other side, wins. Each party paints the other party as evil. In an attempt to distance themselves from the other side, they become more extreme. And this carries down to the people - at least the ones whose views are the extreme. However, there are still a lot of people who understand that it is possible to compromise and find a balance (for example, most people would be fine with some gun control while still allowing people to own guns). But these people are not members of congress.- 8.1k replies

Because, in addition to being a racist, homophobic, misogynistic, lying, cheating, delusional, out-of-touch, obnoxious, sadistic, corrupt, egotistical, irrational, orange sociopath, he is also an idiot. The first time I saw "Cheeto Jesus" my mind immediately wanted to combine the words into one - Cheesus. And when I said it allowed, it sounded like Cheats Us, which is rather appropriate.- 8.1k replies

Post-Election Fears & Anxieties

He is so cheesy! This is close, but I would not say Trump was "sharp." Although, "mild" wouldn't work either. Did they have any "Obnoxious Cheddar" at the store? I would settle for one just like the one pictured as long as it was also moldy - I can overlook the "sharp" if it was rotten and spoiled. -
Life In Pieces - General Discussion

I think they showed the segments is a different order than they originally planned. During the first segment, someone asked Tim about his weekend and he mentioned something about getting high with his mother-in-law, which made no sense to me. Then, the second segment had him prescribing her weed. The timeline was off. -

I would put this is the funny stuff thread if it weren't so true. College Humor's private message to Ivanka In other words, Trump either "hired" a guy he knew was corrupt or Trump is a liar.** To all those Trump supporters out there - Do you support him because he tells it like it is and chooses to work with law-breakers, or because he is liar who was duped by Christie - I don't get it. How does supporting him make any sense? ** My official opinion is both - he is a liar who likes to work with corrupt people. How hard is it to hold the crowd when is is filled with people that support you? However, I think he held their attention because no one can believe that he could speak for 45 minutes without attacking or dragging down his opponent. @HumblePi - I didn't hear his speech, nor will I (I just don't have your intestinal fortitude). Did he really go the whole 45 minutes without saying Hillary was going to jail or that she is corrupt or anything negative about her? -

Trump acted like it was not a surprise at all, implying that he thought Christie was guilty all along, yet he chose Christie to represent him. How are his supporters so blind to the kind of guy Trump really is? (rhetorical question). Well, it adds up, doesn't it? Trump has a "tell" - his comments about his opponents are foreshadowing of the trouble with him and his campaign (and sometimes it is just projecting he does after his trouble has surfaced). Around the third debate, he started in with comments about Hillary not having stamina, about her giving a speech then going home to take a nap. His recent speeches have been much quieter, his voice is a bit hoarse and he isn't as "energetic" in the Christy video as he used to be. He started talking about the election being rigged, and now we find out all sorts of ways his people have been trying to rig it (vote by text, etc.) I thought it was strange a few days ago when he started to reference "Watergate" for Hillary's FBI troubles. The emails and the foundation have nothing to do with bugging hotel rooms. Now it makes sense. There was bugging going. If you didn't have to look at him or listen to him, he would be fun to play poker against. He starts talking about Queen Elizabeth and you would know he had queens. He mentions that there are too many people at his penthouse and you know he has a full house. Then again, he would ante with IOUs and, after he loses, I doubt he would pay up. I would be more surprised if they found a women at Fox who wasn't ever harassed by Roger Ailes.- 8.1k replies

Someone reminded me the other day that GW Bush got votes from some because he was a guy they could see drinking a beer with (which is a ridiculous reason for choosing a president, IMO). This got me thinking and I realized that Obama is the only president that I wish I could drink a beer with, and I don't even like beer. I would drink two if Michelle came with us.

I am guessing that Kellyanne and the rest of the surrogates will get paid through the Trump Foundation. I doubt it is legal to do so, but that doesn't seem to be an issue with them. Re: Kellyanne Conway I think if there was more time left before the election, Trump would fire her because she is no longer good looking enough to represent him or at least have her "get some work done" on her face. But I suppose he will put up with having a 5 as a campaign manager for a few more days. You are not alone. I think as long as we are only bitter and spiteful with regards to anyone associated with trying to get Trump elected, and we don't threaten to harm anyone personally (only wish them ill), we can still hold our heads high. "If they go low, we go high" is a wonderful motto, but I think, when you are dealing with people that go so, so low, it is okay to go with "If they go low, we go not quite as low." It can be therapeutic to imagine your enemies getting what they deserve. That is a wonderful letter. You can see souls? You eyesight is better than mine - they look soulless to me. The false equivalency section was so spot on. I only wish he had included "is on trial in December for the rape of a 13 year old." Why do we keep hearing people talk about not wanting to elect someone who is under FBI investigation, but no one mentions not wanting a president elect on trial for rape? (rhetorical question - I have read all of this thread, it is just another example of the WTF? of this election).- 8.1k replies

In addition to the things others have mentioned - she is married to a man who did a lot of good in his presidency, things like balancing budgets and a creating a good economy, and the Republicans didn't like him making them look bad so they went after him. He is not longer in office, but they can't let go of their vendetta and so they take it out on her.

As part of an MSNBC report, they showed Trump's latest ad saying that the FBI has re-opened the case against Hillary Clinton because she had confidential emails on "pervert Anthony Weiner's laptop" and she faces criminal charges and will be indicted. Almost the entire thing is a lie (Anthony Weiner is a pervert). It was bad enough in the old days when the ads would include inflammatory statements that were taken out of context, but this is out and out lying! How can the Clinton campaign combat this? There needs to be some agency, like Snopes, that has to verify an ad before it can be run. And, apparently, if the FBI was a boat it would have sunk - there are so many leaks. I hate Donald Trump for what he has done to my country and I hate those who let him or encouraged him to do it.- 8.1k replies

There would be postings on the anxiety thread about how worried people are about Ted Cruz possibly winning. The headline at the bottom of the screen states "Trump: Clinton is the most corrupt and should be sent to jail" then they switch to "Clinton giving 3 speeches in Florida today" as their way to provide equal coverage.
