  1. You're in good company this week (myself included). At this particular moment in time, the Table for One is the largest.
  2. Trust me, 20 years from now you'll remember how young you were this year! Ah...so I have an excuse! LOL.
  3. Not sure if it's his choice, or the best he could come up with. Not everyone can do spot on accents, no matter how talented they are at acting. I don't mind it, myself, despite the fact that I tend to be highly critical of accents (Scott Bakula's in NCIS New Orleans drove me crazy enough that I couldn't watch - and I love Scott). PS - In regards to Cricket's death. I was watching The Irrational and they killed off a character, and I had the opposite reaction. He was the love interest of the main character's ex, and they had absolutely no chemistry and he was dull even outside the relationship. So I cheered that one. LOL.
  4. Week 24 – Feb 19 – One Asterisk 116. CANADIAN MEDICINE - Nova Scotian William Knapp Buckley devised a widely used antitussive, meaning a drug used against this (cough[ing]) 117. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS - He's the most recent presidential candidate to have officially declared his opponent in that campaign the victor (Al Gore) 118. 19th CENTURY AMERICANS - In 1896, 15 years after a famous showdown, this man was accused of fixing a championship boxing match (Wyatt Earp) 119. *ON VACATION IN ITALY - About 30 miles from Florence, a little hill gives this tiny Tuscan town its name, familiar to American visitors (Monticello) 120. FRENCH AUTHORS - Trained as a priest & a physician, in 1532 he published his first novel under the pen name Alcofribas Nasier ([François] Rabelais)
  5. I do too, but then I grumbled that she still doesn't seem to comb it.
  6. I have a folder for each day of the week with links to specific sporcle quizzes (generally themed by continent). My husband and I compete each day with Wordle, Quordle, and Octordle. He's much better than I am. He likes crosswords and other types of puzzles that I can't stand, so this is where we meet in the middle. (for fun, we also do Heardle - 50s-90s.) Being short sighted, I agree that they'd blur and someone could come up with Mary Lou instead. Did give us quite a laugh on our couch though.
  7. This is the actual link (I added an "s" that shouldn't be there) I like it because I find I do better memorizing stuff with maps than I do with lists. I seek out the maps on this site - there are plenty of list quizzes as well.
  8. I don't normally talk back to the TV - especially when my husband is doing something else in the room. But as soon as she was running, I said "oh, no don't do that, show!" and a moment's relief when she slammed the door shut, and then the horrible explosion. At that point I yelled a bunch of expletives. That amount of emotion is unusual for me. She was so great, and they had amazing chemistry - not tortured soul chemistry. I really wanted her to be part of the show, because she just shines on camera, whatever she's in. I'm really ticked, and my husband is a little amused I was so vocal. As for Ormwood, whatever he was in the past, that scene with his wife was really moving on both parts - well acted.
  9. And apparently strategize with the police.
  10. I wended and wound up with the wrong one. I only read one Louis L'Amour book and it is in my reading hall of fame as the first book I ever wanted to edit while reading it (not a Hopalong Cassidy book). Only a megastar writer who refuses to let her work be edited stands next to him. Having been a writer, I learned that though editing can sting, it also teaches you to be a better writer. I use Sporcles. It's definitely upped my Geography game.
  11. She did smile during her interview, it lit her up. I think she may a serious face when she's concentrating. My daughter is kind of the same. We didn't either. If they'd said "certify" instead of "officially declaring" we might have gotten there. That must have been pouring salt on a wound to have to do that...
  12. Maybe you saw him in a different role - I first saw him in Early Edition. Also he was in Super8 and a bunch of other stuff. It was a Nova Scotian doctor who invented(? they said devised) a widely used cough medicine so that's where Canada comes in.
  13. He was the first "Southern Politician" I thought of (though the field is much larger - Carter, Clinton, Wallace, Thurmand...and the list goes on to current ones).
  14. For Week 22 I have your asterisks (very exciting) - so I know you have at least 2/5, but I want to make sure your count is right. So let me know if you got more.
  15. Week 23 • Feb. 12 – One Asterisk 111. U.S. STAMPS - This Roman numeral appeared on stamps in a 2022 series for the 50th anniversary of an anti-discrimination law (IX – Title 9) 112. SOUTHERN POLITICIANS - An article written after his 1935 death asked, "Will some crown prince arise to take his place?" (Huey Long) 113. BROADWAY PLAYS - Rita Moreno & Sally Struthers were the first to star in the female version of this comedy, their characters becoming Olive & Florence (The Odd Couple) 114. *LANDMARKS - The distance between its 2 legs at ground level is 630 feet, making it as wide as it is tall (Gateway Arch) 115. THEATER -A 1955 play review noted "restless Delta folk" & "lives as uncomfortable & insecure as the proverbial" this title (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof)
  16. The Odd Couple was an instaget - even though I had no idea it was a gender reversed play on Broadway. I'm not sure what clued me in. Like @Prevailing Wind I would have guessed the neatnik was Moreno and the slob Struthers. I was disappointed Long didn't make win, but them's the breaks.
  17. Me too, military brat, mom, and germaphobe for the win!
  18. I cannot bring myself to eat one of those - not because I wouldn't like it, but I'm afraid I'd like it TOO much!
  19. I didn't realize there were standards....😆 I guess you can't enjoy your feed too much!
  20. I recognized the phrase, but could not, for the life of me, remember where I read it. I was leaning toward Austin or the Brontes.
  21. You know, I'd forgotten about TWOP (it's demise, that is). I too, handled similar issues to yours when I was the webmaster of our city website (a small-ish site, but with some cantankerous frequent complainers - it's that kind of town). I did love TWOP, especially Daniel's recaps (? did I get the name right?) I was only on Twitter so I could see proof of life for one of my kids, but since they're not on it anymore, it wasn't devastating to me. (though I did have some schadenfreude re: the new owner) I do hear you, though. I have other things I'm Chicken Little about. So far not this site, but now I do feel a wee bit worried. 😉
  22. Since I was a webmaster before I retired, I tend to give the moderators/tech support a fair bit of slack. This is an absolutely HUGE website, and a good many of the moderators are just members, like us. (I once "applied" to be moderator for some forum - I forget which - but then realized I just didn't have the time to do it). People do get sick, go on vacations, or just drop out. So when they're away, non urgent issues are probably left for their return. Even the week long absence, given the project, is understandable to me, given the size of the site and the technical (and content) issues involved. It can be frustrating on our end, but I learned during my entire career (with different jobs) that what constituted a priority on my part was often not a priority on the other person's part. Doesn't mean that I don't get irritated sometimes, but I try to be patient. PS This is not in any way a criticism of criticism, as it were. Just my perspective.
  23. That's one of the forums I left, specifically because of how they treated Chrissy Metz (Kate).
  24. I don't eat cold cereal for breakfast. I'm not virtuous - but cold cereal just doesn't stick with me as a meal (neither does yogurt). Instead, I only eat boxed cereal for "dessert" or a snack - even so, I stick to Cheerios (though I might splurge on a Honey Nut version now and again). Cheerios has always been my favorite, though as a child I really liked Cap'n Crunch and Froot Loops.
