  1. Poor Simon would insist with the excessive emphasis associated with prevarication that he NEVER, EVER begged for Alex's job. They were uncomfortable to watch because they are too fragile for reality television. Both of them devoted obsessive efforts to convince the viewers through interviews (with anyone remotely associated with the media who would answer their pleas for an audience), tweets, and blogs that they were completely misrepresented by "editing" on the show. LuAnn reclaimed her apple because she primarily adheres to the adage: "Never excuse, never explain, never complain". I hope they hope have found contentment without reality television in Australia.
  2. Good for you, Tosia. You are applying the philosophy attributed to Whitney by the hostess of this episode: "No matter your size. . . don't withdraw from life." I do not know if Whitney has articulated her "No Body Shame" platform in the hostess' succinct phrase, but she can be a legitimate spokesperson for this perspective. I also commend the hostess for ending the segment with the comedienne, Whitney, and Whitney's family and friends because the conversation was neither productive nor meaningful.
  3. This thread may not be correct place to share this http://www.latimes.com/sports/olympics/la-sp-oly-robles-plaschke-20160815-snap-story.html. (Moderators, please advise.) Sarah Robles, who is 5'10" and 315 pounds, won a bronze medal in weightlifting for the USA. Michelle Carter won the gold medal for the USA in the shot put at 5'9" and 257 pounds. “These Olympians are using the podium to promote a positive message,” says Abigail Saguy, professor of sociology at UCLA and author of the book “What’s Wrong With Fat?” “They are making an important point that health comes at all sizes, and we should be embracing diversity of body sizes rather than assume there’s one good body type.” Although Whitney (by contrast with Robles and Carter) is not necessarily a credible spokesperson for the "important point that health comes at all sizes", the equally important message that she illustrates is that life should not be deferred until weight loss is achieved. Her example encourages new activities and adventures (visiting the beach in a bikini, riding a bike, tubing in the snow, ballroom dancing competition) that can be attempted before she and other supermorbidly obese individuals reach a more conventional size. Her conversations with the comedienne also alluded to the respect and support that Whitney and other severely overweight individuals deserve when they pursue the activities that they previously avoided.
  4. Huge appreciation to Kid for your insights: Also, thank you, LocalGovt: I
  5. Amen and thank you to Madding crowd for your observation: I understand the frustration that many posters express about Whitney's conduct, but she seems to be struggling with an addiction. Maybe a residential treatment center would be helpful.
  6. Amen and thank YOU, Madding: The legitimate and important message of "No Body Shame" is that public perceptions should not limit or degrade anyone. I appreciate Whitney for her willingness to address the sensitive issue of size discrimination.
  7. In some ways, Will's decision to "fire" Whitney as a client was a compassionate act. Because Whitney is unable to comply with Will's regimen at this time, the diet and exercise requirements created additional stress for her without any positive results. Maybe a residential treatment program is the best solution for her.
  8. Her performance looks like "twerking" to me. Impressive, actually, if you like twerking.
  9. Gaily writes, Thank you your ongoing compassion for Whitney. She seems to be in physical, emotional, and mental distress that is uncomfortable to observe. I also feel bad for her.
  10. Thank you, abbey, for the information: Whitney is not heavier in the current season than she was in Season 1 when she weighed 382 pounds, however, many viewers have commented that she appears larger. Possible explanations for the increase in size noted by some viewers: 1) The editors are deliberately choosing footage that makes Whitney look larger. 2) Whitney has gained inches because she is less active than in Season 1 when we saw more dancing, swimming, and other exercise. 3) Whitney is allowing the crew to film when she has made less effort in grooming (hair, makeup, nails) than during previous seasons. Regardless of the explanation, Whitney's situation borders on tragic. I simply cannot watch anymore for the same reason that I have never managed to see an entire episode of "My 600-lb Life"--it is too disturbing and too sad.
  11. DixonVixen2359 asks. Has Whitney been weighed on camera in the current season? If she has been filmed on a scale during this season, then I have missed this scene. Many viewers perceive Whitney as heavier now than in Season 1 when she weighed 382 on a huge medical scale that her father brought to their house, and I am curious whether objective evidence has been shown.
  12. Has she been weighed on camera during the current season? On the first season, she weighed 382 pounds on the huge medical scale that her father brought into the house. Some posters on this forum have speculated that she is heavier in this third season. Has she actually added pounds or does she seem larger because she cannot/will not make the efforts to groom and primp that we saw in the first season. I appreciate the compassionate insight of Gaily:
  13. Whitney looked absolutely miserable when she was driving the scooter in the parade. I felt sorry for her. I understand, as many posters have noted, that she is at least partially responsible for her overweight condition; nevertheless, I felt bad because she was genuinely upset.
  14. The "Daily Mail" recapped this video in an article with photographs of the "stunning two-story rural home with a pool and picturesque views of the Australian countryside". They rented that house for the first year that they resided in Australia, but they now live in a modest home on a one acre plot in a rural/suburban area where they raise chickens. I hope they are genuinely happy with the decision to relocate and did not supply the pictures of the "stunning" property in a disturbing effort to portray their lives as more glamorous than the reality. They were often uncomfortably ostentatious on RHONY. 15. Recent interview with Alex and Simon including vintage footage when Alex describes her aspiration (which she later denied) to move "higher and higher in society". The video commentator also notes that Alex has apparently backtracked on her insistence that she would never "live in the suburbs". Alex has reverted to her apparently self-maintained Season 1 hairdo with dark roots and straggling ends. She retains her penchant for wearing unflattering colors in the tan/khaki/beige family. On the positive side, she looks more healthy than in Season 1 when she was extremely thin. She and Simon predictably insist that they are thrilled to be excluded from the Real Housewife franchise. I hope they are truthful; however, the pair habitually claimed that they were delighted with their circumstances during their tenure on the show despite their documented efforts to achieve higher status ("I made eye contact with Jane Fonda!"). For example, they said that they did not have a home in the Hamptons because they did not want a residence in this prestigious address and lived in Brooklyn because it was their preference when their choices were obviously dictated by affordability. I wish them well in Australia. They were uncomfortable to watch on RHONY because of their predilection to prevaricate. Example: Simon claimed the nude photographs of Alex were "above the waist" when her dangling clitoris was plainly visible. His apparent lack of familiarity with the female body (his wife's labia is NOT above her waist) did not bolster his claims that he is heterosexual.
  16. Does Whitney really "wanna be fat", or is she overwhelmed by the enormity of the effort required to lose 230 - 250 pounds? Sometimes a goal can seem extremely daunting. For example, I recently faced $17,000 in credit card debt and was very discouraged when I thought about the effort needed to eliminate it. I did not have the option of continuing to maintain this high balance of debt and will live for the next six months on a VERY strict budget. I realize debt reduction is not exactly analogous to weight loss, but if Whitney is struggling with similar feelings of resignation and hopelessness than she has my empathy and sympathy.
  17. Sonja has joined the competition for the alcohol market with http://www.realitytea.com/2015/11/30/sonja-morgan-launches-tipsy-girl-liquor-sound-similar-bethenny-frankels-skinnygirl/
  18. At the 00:50 point of the video featuring the finalists' reactions to the decision, Cat declares that she "is happy with the result" while vigorously shaking her head to left and to right. Her mouth says "happy", but her body language clearly indicates, "NO. Definitely NOT happy." At 1:16, Cat indicates "NO" with a vigorous side-to-side head shake as she wishes "the best of luck" to Hanna Beth.
  19. In an interview with a local publication, Alex and Simon discuss their new life in Australia: http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/realestate/real-housewives-of-new-york-stars-alex-mccord-and-simon-van-kempen-loving-life-in-byron/story-fnjdgobq-1227549729420. They share that life in NYC was one of the "darkest periods" in their lives, because they experienced "public scrutiny" and "unimaginable online bullying". They note, "We lost our privacy and were exposed on TV for all the world to see." Could have regained their privacy after they were fired from RHONY if they had not clung to the reality television world? They maintained a tangential connection with Alex's online commentary about the Real Housewives franchise and other reality programs including "16 and Pregnant", "Dance Moms", and "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" while Simon devoted himself to exhaustive analysis of Bravo ratings.
  20. In the preview for part 3 of the Reunion show, Sonja reiterates that Madonna "was there" at the fashion show. I hope Andy and the Housewives will explore Sonja's claim--which was initially fascinating (in an amusing fashion) and is verging toward concerning.
  21. Great analysis, Rahul: Madonna was outside of Sonja's show because she wasn't inside watching Sonja's fashion show. Madonna might have been outside the show at an actual fashion week show. Madonna might have been outside of Sonja's show at her concert at Madison Square Garden. Madonna might have been outside of Sonja's show at her town house in London.
  22. Thank you, Rahul, for clarifying that "Sonja said Madonna was outside". Is it possible that Madonna walked past the fashion show locale at some point during the preparations or presentation? Although Madonna's proximity was probably unrelated to Sonja's show, Sonja would be technically correct in that case to say Madonna was outside. Or Madonna may have been on another continent, and Sonja is simply detached from reality.
  23. In the previews of the reunion, did Sonja say that Madonna attended her fashion show? Seriously?
