Isn't "The Moonies" an alternate name for the Unification Church?
Yes, I was wondering if they were going to issue a correction at the end of the round. Maybe Moonies is considered derogatory and they did't want to get complaints.
That was a good FJ because it required some lateral thinking - Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. I didn't come close to getting it, but I think it was a good Jeopardy! clue,

Good FJ wagering by Neil, although I didn't think FJ was difficult.

I don't think I liked FJ. Category was Classic Movie Roles.
I suppose Piggy in Lord of the Flies is a classic character from literature. It does not surprise me that a movie adaptation of that novel was made in 1963, but it is not a highly regarded film today. I was concentrating on movies from that time period and could not think of one that fit. Not a classic movie, if by classic we mean good or landmark. Maybe a classic role, but because of the character in the book.

Vaclavske Namesti - I thought of Vaclav Havel and the Czech Republic. Guessed Prague.

What a second-round comeback!
Plus I liked that Final Jeopardy - called for some lateral thinking. I got it but I am not surprised two contestants missed it.

My husband, who knows math, says that player #3 bet too much since she was ahead going into FJ. Any comments on the wagers?
I don't think so. I just looked at the FJ again. Player #3 (Sara) was leading with 11,600. Player #2 (Chelsea) had 9,600. If Chelsea had doubled-up she would be at 19,200. To cover that, Sara would have to bet 7600 or more. Her actual bet was 7601. So I think she made a good wager.
You could argue that Chelsea overbet and that she should have just tried to cover a double-up from Cindy. In that case, Chelsea would have bet 1000 to exactly cover a Cindy double-up. She actually bet 2500. If Chelsea had gone for exactly 1000, her total after getting it wrong would be 8600, which is exactly what Cindy had by getting it right. If Chelsea had bet 1001, she would have lost by a dollar. I don't know if Cindy did that calculation before her bet of 3300, but it would not surprise me if she did.

How many wrong answers did Amy give, including two Daily Doubles? And she still was leading at the end.
I'll give her some slack for FJ though, as I also said Newton.

I think Alex and I both had a crush on the contestant Lara today. Not only did she have the same name as a sexy video game avatar from the 90s, but she was an "aquatic veterinarian" (how cool is that?) and she seemed good humored about trailing Tim by a wide margin. Gotta love a woman who can smile after getting ruled incorrect.
FJ was easy to guess, I thought.

First time I've seen this show. What a waste of Stephen Fry! They could have gotten any no-name middle-aged actor to play that role (at least based on tonight's episode).
Too much "oh, isn't this new media stuff strange! Old dudes can't master it." content.
I did like the magician bartender.

It seems the writers have stepped up their games a little recently. For example, today's FJ. Not only did I have no idea for a response, but it was interesting and I feel I learned something.
Another example: the category Henrik Ibsen or Henry Gibson. It's gimmicky, but it's fun gimmicky.
The Billboard charts category - I didn't get any of them, either, Tim. But then in the interview Tim told us he was really into music charts.
I think Tim (and many champs) has two things going for him. He's fast on the buzzer, and he doesn't ring in when he doesn't know the answer. Both challengers today struck me as knowledgeable but they shot themselves in the foot by ringing in with wrong answers. If they had more self-restraint, they might have beaten Tim.

For today's FJ, you had to identify a British author who wrote 6 novels. If it had been 7 I would have answered J.K. Rowling. Jeopardy loves Rowling.
A combination of luck and savvy wagering won it for Tim.

I said Phineas Fogg, so I would have ruled wrong.
I would have got that wrong too. Maybe I'm imagining this, but I got the impression Alex was waiting to pounce on somebody for saying Phineas, and the contestant robbed him of that pleasure by answering "Who is Fogg?"

Hated this particular iteration of Before & After.
I did poorly in that category - not sure I got even one right. But maybe that is partly because it was a new category. I like when the writers come up with new categories. I hope they try this new one a couple more times before I decide if I like it or not.
Good game today as Ryan and Tim battled it out. I think Asim mostly got lucky yesterday because he did not seem very strong today.

I wonder if the show got paid by Google for product placement.
Of course, home automation is something Phil would really be into.

Did y'all get today's FJ - 1984?
I did not, but I slapped myself on the head when the correct response was revealed. Definitely guessable in the best J! tradition of clues that allow you to guess.

Good game as Lucia mounted another come-from-behind second round campaign.
On FJ, I knew it must be a character from Lord of the Flies, and the only one whose name I could remember was Piggy. So that's what I went with.

I love a good late-game comeback. Today it was Lucia.

Some portion of the audience must actually like Teen Tournaments. J! continues to have the tournaments so the ratings must be OK. I don't know who these people are, but they must exist.

Yes, the scheduling of the Teen Tournament is surprising. Starting on a Wednesday and ending on a Tuesday (Nov 22, according to the J! website.)

Admirably large wager by Donna on the final DD, and she knew it was a monarch named The Unready. The only Unready I can think of was Ethelred or Æthelred.
Donna apparently knows a William the Unready, but that wasn't right.

Vivek hit a DD late in the game and was stuck with a difficult choice for the wager. He bet relatively small, and although he got the DD, the small bet almost came back to bite him as Thea moved ahead at the end of the round.
Then Thea pulled out an utterly mystifying response in FJ, allowing Vivek to win.
Here's one weird thing about J!: Good players - contestants much better than I would ever be - like Thea, who produce the occasional response that strikes me as completely bone-headed.
What is France?!?!?!?!?

Inferno was released last Friday, so I was confused. Unless it is released later in the US for some reason?
Actually, yes. I don't normally follow this stuff but the director, Ron Howard, was on one of the morning TV shows today and mentioned it had already opened overseas. (I have no interest in this type of movie.)

Today I learned that the new Sony Pictures movie Inferno will open tomorrow!
Seriously, this was a decent game because it was close all the way and I like it when all three contestants have a shot at the end. I'm surprised George wagered only $1000 on a second-round DD.

Jeopardy! Season 33 (2016-2017)
in Jeopardy!
Lisa! A gutsy late-game daily double wager pays off and puts her back into contention. Plus it was a daily double where she appeared to reach way to the back of her mind and pull it out at the last minute.
And then getting the FJ. I know South Africa has three capitals but I always forget the name of the smaller one.
