  1. Maybe, but it looks more like it's to convey sexiness. She definitely does it more in the original dance, with the Latin flare, than in their Evita free dance which is more dramatic. Still love that purple dress, though.
  2. THANK YOU on Piper's facial expressions! In the original dance, she treats the "open mouth ALL THE WAY" as a way to express emotion. OVER AND OVER. Excuse me for this comparison, but she looks like a blow up doll when she does it. And once I thought that, I couldn't unsee it. I prefer FB/S to them, if I'm picking my Canadian team. I was following Jackie Wong's Twitter through the Dance. He also didn't care for G/P's programs. Especially Evita, which I agree with. He also said that Madi's fall was on an non-element, another flukey trip, which yeah, she does a lot, so basically it should only cost them the -1.00 deduction. And he was right. He noticed everyone else's weaker Twizzle bobbles. So happy for Chock and Bates. it was a long time coming for them to win the Big One. And they now have done something that H/D did not. LOL. I don't think that Alexa and Brandon were too disappointed coming in second. They won the long, I think. Plus, they were up against so much. Defending a World title for the first time, being there without Todd or Jennie, and worried about him, and the inevitable home ice advantage that their closest competitors would have. They are the only U.S. pair to win a world medal two years in a row since Jennie and Todd did it. That's pretty awesome, given the sorry state of U.S. pairs for SO LONG. Have they said that this is their last year? They did say that they didn't want to leave unless there was stability coming up behind them. Chan and Howe seem to have that. Plus, also the World Junior Champs being American (although the age rules may bite them). I laughed that Jackie also mentioned that the Italians do the "dark characters well." OF COURSE they do. Bab's is their coach!! They have the Barbara Fusar-Poli withering look of disdain to learn from.
  3. The same IOC still holding the team medals from 2022 hostage? I wonder how much that check from the Russian Fed was for, to stall/delay the medals and let their cheating go unpunished?
  4. Looks like Gilles and Poirier are listed in the World's entries. This will be their first competition since the GPF, correct? God, please have my mute button at the ready when Evita starts. Their original dance I like. Evita, not so much. It's the song. And the schmaltz that the song breeds. Interesting article about the current World Junior Pairs champions being caught in the middle of the ISU new age limits. She'll be too young to compete as a senior, and he will be too old to compete as a junior. Looks like several teams may face this problem when one partner is older (even slightly) than the other. The U.S. championships are not an ISU event. Therefore, can they compete at Nationals as seniors, but not go to World's or Four Continents if they place high enough at Nats? Perhaps they'll come up with a solution for already established pairs, because this rule will effect Baram and Tioumentsev (current World Junior Champs) for THREE seasons. They're 14 and 21 years old. I didn't realize she was that young.
  5. In KH's Instagram post, she said hat she not only skated with post concussion symptoms, but a torn ACL? WHAAAAT? Wow. I hope this isn't the end for them, or at least Kaitlyn. :( And good luck to Christina and Anthony! I hope they can capitalize on the opportunity and get a good placement.
  6. Has Robin Szolkowy said anything? May be why he walked away from the partnership, being happy with the world titles and two Olympic Bronze medals. He couldn't put up with four more years of abuse. Also may be why Knerim/Knerim walked away from Savchenko's coaching after five months. We now know that Chris Knerim had mental health issues in regards to his skating. Her coaching style may have not been the best thing for him.
  7. Yeah. That guy. LOL. Notice that the Madisons have the appropriate facial expressions in the photo of them holding their empty medal cases (especially MH). Also an appropriate time for Donohue to put on his douche face.
  8. I'd say AMEN.
  9. Well, I did see that Team Noodlehead Cheaty McDrugPushers were coaching Daniel Grassl from Italy. So, they are finding ways around the ban. I was secretly happy to see his countryman Matteo Rizzo finish above him for that reason, only. Speaking of Italy and the Russian ban, the Italians seemed to be benefitting most from the Russians not being around at Euros. And I'm not sad about it.
  10. I notice that Johnny isn't over annunciating Russian names, which can still happen during the U.S. Championships due to the influx of Russian coaches immigrating, and now their CHILDREN who were born after they moved here, are old enough to compete for the U.S. I heard him say a couple of coaching names yesterday, but that's it. The whole doping thing during the Olympics seems to have tempered his orgasmic rapture for all things Russian. At least a little bit. Or the network told him to cool it after the scandal. Glad they stuck Ben Agosto in the booth with Johnny and Terry for Ice Dance. Wasn't he in there for Pairs, too? Can't remember. Speaking of, STILL no Olympic team medals? It's been a freaking year and Russian is still stonewalling. Give the skaters their medals. You can always change the color later, if need be. Jason Brown made me cry. Period, end of sentence. Bradie made me cry in her short program, and my god that DRESS was sublime. Chock and Bates were magical. Even the small things, like her hand position, where her fingers actually look like flames. This program is MILES above I.AM's attempt to turn them into the next P/C with bodice ripping romance novels on ice. The unusual themes like the current "He's the wind and she's the fire," the space alien and the Snake, are their wheelhouse. And did anyone notice the stuffed snake that someone threw onto the ice and Madi picked it up and was thrilled. That routine will always be their trademark, but it's too bad that it was their free dance for 2020, and could not be performed at World's that year. I missed Jean Luc Baker. Alexa and Brandon were miles above the rest, but they need to tighten it up before having to skate against the Japanese again. It was weird seeing Timothy LeDuc with a new partner, and one so tiny (compared to Ashley, who is taller). My apathy for all four of the teams in the NFL conference championships made watching figure skating a no brainer. Between Peacock, NBC, E! and USA, I was happy. Figure skating always seems to be at a disadvantage, ratings wise. The U.S. Championships always compete with the NFL playoffs, and World's is always at the same time as March Madness. No win situations.
  11. Yeah, I don't see the Pair's Short, which means that we need to check Peacock for coverage. Also looks like the U.S. and Europeans will be overlapping in some coverage. Bummed about H/B. Upside is that C/P might make it to Worlds? But no JLB? Bumming HARD.
  12. I'm sayin'!! I never laughed so hard as when John walked up to her and said (paraphrasing), "I'm asking you because I know who wears the pants in your family." Nice shade thrown at your son. Not to mention totally true.
  13. Oh yeah. Silverado. The part that Lawrence Kasdan wrote for Costner to make up for the fact that his character was left on the cutting room floor in The Big Chill.
  14. He's second in the credits behind just Costner, so yeah, I'd say he's a lead. I'm glad to see that it's not just me disgusted half the time in the way that Sheridan writes for women. "Strong" equals violently psychotic, evidently. The women will throw down over grungy, showered maybe once a night after riding and rolling in dirt all day, cowboy dick, while the guys they're fighting over sit, watch and guzzle beer. They don't try to break it up. They get off on the women looking foolish and fighting over them.
  15. I've been re-watching the earlier seasons, and in Season One we have boxes of Goldfish crackers piled up in the break room of Jamie's election headquarters, and the very next scene, Tate is laying on the hotel bed, calling out to his dad, while munching...yep...Goldfish crackers. At least space them out a bit.
  16. I just kept consulting the family tree that was posted online. "Okay, so Harrison Ford is Kevin Costner's great, great UNCLE, and Tim McGraw is his great, great, grandfather?" My grandmother told me stories about being beaten on the back of the hand with a ruler by the nuns every time she picked up her pencil with her left hand. They beat the lefty out of students and forced them to become right handed. As a result, my grandmother wrote right handed but did everything else lefty (bowling, golfing, eating with utensils). My grandmother was born in 1918, so the time line kind of matches up. I assume that this being portrayed as a school for indigenous children, that they got much worse than my Italian-American, daughter of immigrants, grandmother of the same era in the Bronx.
  17. Oh MY. And it's the look, paired with that almost comically whimsical dress. "Just stay down there, Maurizio."
  18. They were SO good. And more like what we're used to from Chock and Bates. Glad they pitched the old number. I feel they got screwed in the end with their placement. I like G/P's rhythm dance (the purple dress!!) but Evita? Noooooo. Just kill me now with that effing song. And seeing the Italians skating AGAINST C/B and G/P, I can see that they are a slight step below. They got so much press as being the "hot" pair leading up to the GPF, because they were not skating against the other two teams. Putting all three on the ice together, and you can see that they're not quite up to the other, AFAIC. And Barbara Fusar Poli still frightens me.
  19. Alexa and Brandon win the silver. Brandon had a couple of stumbles, but it was still close because Miura/Kihara did not go clean, either. Even with the stumbles, Knierm/Frazier got a season's best score. The Italians jumped into bronze position. Stellato-Dudek/Deschamps fell down to fifth with a rough skate. It was the first time that Japan-U.S.-Italy pairs have each been on a GPF podium. Time for ice dance. Ugh. Both US teams in the first group. Why is it that I cannot take my eyes off Jean-Luc Baker when he's skating?? He's just personality plus.
  20. Was it here that someone mentioned that Ilia looked taller this season? Maybe the struggle on the jumps yesterday was because he's hit a growth spurt. That was always my fear in anointing him to greatness so early. He's a kid, and built like one. And he doesn't have a coaching staff plying him with drugs (we hope) to delay anything like this from happening (side eye to Noodle Head). Quads will probably not come as easily if he's getting taller and filling out. No U.S. ice dancers in the Junior GPF. Kind of odd. Is the strong U.S. dance pipeline tapering off?
  21. Ilia was all over the place. Currently in 5th. Shoma's short program TSS is 99.99?! Holy cats.
  22. UGH. I want to scratch my eyeballs and ear drums out whenever I hear "You'll Never Walk Alone." Cornball to the max. I think it's because I had to sing it in choir so much growing up. OF COURSE, Miura/Kihara got higher PCS scores than Frazier/Knierm with that dreck. Yucko.
  23. Nope. You're not. I agree with it all. They're up against a wall with the GPF being in Turin, which will give Guignard/Fabri a home ice boost, anyway. I'm also concerned that others have passed them, including H/B, even though I like them, as well. Maybe they should dig the snake out of mothballs.
  24. Boom. There it is.
