  1. With next year's World's in the US, what is the magic number to have two pair qualify?
  2. I still REALLY dislike the skater interacting/flirting with the judges panel. You don't need that. And how has Leona not had a wardrobe malfunction in that dress? Double sided tape? Super glue? I remember al the complaining about Katarina Witt's "showgirl" dresses. One was molting all over the ice and leaving feathers ('88 Olympic short program dress?)
  3. Don't they go by season rankings? A point system for every result? So Isabeau may still be ranked higher? I don't know, I'm just guessing.
  4. I have Peacock streaming the Rhythm Dance on Friday, at 11:20 AM. The US Figure Skating Instagram account posted the schedule a few days back.
  5. Especially since C&B's rhythm dance is to Queen. Something 99% of Americans know and most would find appealing. Just caught the end of the pairs short on Peacock. All three U.S. teams qualified for the Free, but we aren't getting three spots for next year, that's for sure. Kam and O'Shea are in 10th. That's the highest placement. We're back to the Pairs struggle bus. Just in time for the Olympic year. What is the magic number we need for two spots next year? I wonder why Alexa and Brandon didn't stay until the next Olympics. Did they figure that the cheaters would be back and why bother? They won a World Championship, so they're good? I HOPE that they get their silver or gold team medal, soon. Major eyeroll.
  6. You think now that she's 18, she's coming back because she can now make her own decisions regarding her career? No more daddy butting in? Wasn't he a big time buttinsky control freak? Or am I remembering incorrectly?
  7. I have noticed that since the doping scandal at the Olympics, Johnny has toned down his worship for all things Russian. Whether that was a personal decision or one based on "we're not going to glamourize cheating" by NBC, I don't know, but I notice the lack of the rapturous and orgasmic over-pronunciation of Russian names, and I thank 8 pound 6 ounce newborn infant Jesus who don't even know a word yet, for that. I mean, he still does it, but not as often or as obvious as he used to. As far as GS and their trashing of Chock and Bates, I remember someone commenting that they're mostly G/P fans. So, we're back to the Canada vs U.S., V/M fans trashing D/W, now? I guess if I went over there and asked why Piper has her mouth open like a blow up doll when she skates, they'll get pissed off? :D
  8. It's sad that Ice Dancing is so political that a pair feel they HAVE to skate when so obviously ill, or lose some clout going into World's. If C/B didn't win Nationals, would the international judges move them down below the Italians and Canadians, like they're a ranked college football team with a BYE week who sat home eating cheeseburgers while everyone else played? Good grief. Evan looked soo miserable. When they finished and he leaned into Madi, he was flushed and sweating profusely, not to mention panting like crazy. I thought he was going to pass out right there on the ice. And yet, Patrice still hugged him in the kiss and cry. I'd be like, "Nice job, let's fist bump. Where's the Purel?" Carreira and Ponomarenko won the free dance. Love to see that. Anthony's reaction when the scores went up was so sweet. Well, it was nice having a strong pairs team for a couple of years. Now we're back to a splat fest. We seriously have to send three of these teams to World's? Can we give one of those spots to the ice dancers, or the ladies? Save a spot for next year? Yikes. I'd have a hard time imaging any of them qualifying for the long program at World's.
  9. Pleasantly surprised to see that Peacock has the replays up. I forgot to record the rhythm dance and pairs short yesterday,
  10. I loved Davis and White's Phantom. I go back and forth between this and Bollywood as my favorites of their's. I think Phantom is a showcase for Charlie, while Bollywood is Meryl. Skipping Nationals for 4CC? Tell me that's not weird.
  11. I think JLB would be a great ice dance singles skater, or whatever they're coming up with. He's always been captivating to watch.
  12. And that Eteri is allowed to coach non-Russian skaters in ISU events while standing next to those who have not received their Olympic medals yet. And they have not received them due to HER coaching team's drugging of little girls. If I were an American, Japanese or even Canadian skater who could get the bronze if they determine that the Russians should not get the OGM, I would not be able to control my anger at the sight of her.
  13. This morning's GPF stream on Peacock..do I need to spoiler this because it has already happened and the results are on social media? I only saw the second half of the ladies and the end of the dance (because I had to drive to work and caught the end of the dance on my computer). I'm not getting up at 3:45 for the rest. Oh, Isabeau. Well, the pressure is off. She can skate a great long program with nothing to lose. Leona is a gorgeous skater but the antics at the judges table with the seductive looks and winking at them are uncomfortable to watch. Is it just me? She doesn't need that. She's gorgeous and that costume conveys all the sexiness she needs. Oy. Here we go again. I cannot unsee Piper's "wide open O" mouth in the original dance. I hate using the comparison to a blow up doll, because she's seems like a nice person, but....that's what I see, facial expression only, of course. She doesn't do it as much when the music isn't peppy, so the look is purposely done to convey....rock and roll? Last year and this year, same deal in the original dance. And now I'm fixated on it. I know you need to breathe, but that's all I see now when I watch. She doesn't do it as much when the music is dramatic, such as in the Free Dance. Curious. Did Babs give her patented death glare when Fear/Gibson beat them in the NHK? I didn't see it, but I read that they were screwed by the IMG mafia. She's happy today, though. For now. If it happens again in the Free? Not so much. I think that if they lose to Chock and Bates, no death glare. That wouldn't seem unusual. But if F/G or FB/S finish above G/F, Babs will give the judges table "the look." Gilles and Poirier is a toss up with them, so no death glare if they end up beating the Italians, either, I think. Queen is always appropriate. For anything. Just a little more speed on those twizzles, maybe?
  14. Speaking of crazy assed fan bases. Tessa Virtue is engaged to one of the Toronto Maple Leafs (old news, but I just read about it). Does he know about the secret basement children? Is he planning to legally adopt them? How many do V/M have now? Gotta be up to at least five now, right? Asking for a friend.
  15. I see what you're saying. But, his Broadcast News Flop Sweat will always be a classic. "This is more than Nixon ever sweated."
  16. I was going to say that it may be that if Hanyu wants peace and to keep his marriage intact, moving from Japan would be the thing to do. Basically, he and his wife divorcing just handed the psychos a victory. In their delusional minds, they can ruin any future relationships he has because they already did it once. Unfortunately, in the technology/social media age, he can't disappear completely.
  17. Shudder. Wolf Turns. HATE. HATE. HAAAAAAATTTTE. Simone is the only one that makes them palatable. Because she's not wobbly as hell when she does them. Oh, figure skating. Sorry. Am I the only one that hates the "jump with your arms in the air for extra points every stinking time you jump?" EVERY. TIME. for some of these girls (especially). It reminds me of when the scoring system was new(ish) and they gave bonus points for catch foot spins and you saw all sorts of really bad ones. Some skaters were grabbing their skates EVERY time they spun. There was a Georgian skater, Eleni Gedevanishvili, who must have done 10 spins with her skate blade in her hand, in a single program. Bad Biellmann and Bad Boitano is the Wolf Turn for skating.
  18. I wish I could like this 1000 times. I have always hated Coe-zilla with every fiber of my being, since that wench first shit stomped and scenery chewed her way into PC. And I've never backed off from that. And the holier than thou, sanctimonious, perpetually constipated looking SLS can seriously eat 1000 dicks. Shut up, Michael. You've been annoying since you were a red headed demon child, and you still haven't grown up or improved. I just had to get that off my chest.
  19. Damn! I miss me some JLB!!!
  20. I think the section of Chock and Bates' Queen routine that got my interest was the very beginning, when the opening bass line of Another One Bites the Dust was playing (Bless you, John Deacon). Madison was doing some cute footwork and you were drawn in. And yes, it was the section that was instrumental. No vocals. Sorry, Freddy. You're still the greatest!!
  21. Speaking of warhorses, I heard Hallelujah at least twice on Saturday. Ugh. You can't go wrong with Queen. Also a good number to get the audience involved. C/B were just fine with me, but what do I know. Golden Skate forums are clearly the "experts." (insert eyeroll here) Saw a lot of commentary on Insta regarding Leona's dress (or lack there of). She looked beautiful, but I had to admit that the showgirl chic was a little heavy handed. I was holding my breath hoping there was no Papadakis malfunction about to happen.
  22. She got the silver in Vault because she had too much power on Biles II and sat down on the landing. Even though the vault is head and shoulders above anything anyone is attempting, the sit down, paired with a deduction for her coach being on the mat, gave Andrade the gold. If you're going to attempt a vault as dangerous as the Biles II, having a coach spotting you closely seems like a necessary safety precaution. Instead, she got a deduction. Whatever.
  23. Women's All Around on Peacock today at 1:30. For chrissakes, with the strikes putting all network shows on hold, why can't NBC show World's at night in Prime Time? Show the delayed broadcast of that day's events, especially with the US doing well in both men's and women's. What a missed opportunity.
  24. Another WOW at the men's All Around! Frederick Richard, USA, All Around Bronze! NICE!! I like the kid. He's enthusiastic and quite personable. I hope this is just the beginning for him.
  25. Ladies Team final on at 1:30 (eastern) on Peacock today. I recall reading yesterday that if the US wins, they will tie for most consecutive team gold medals with one of the men's teams. Can't remember which, but it's probably Russia or China!
