I kept wondering who he looked like. And this is probably just me, but the second song sounded so much like Olivia Newton John's Physical that it was a little weird. I listened to it a second time and yes that's what I was hearing everyime he said "magical". I thought the show got better as it went along up to Update.

Uh...they actually held back a bit, especially at the end with Donnie Jr as the older son. Oh yeah, I agree with Hamm in the monologue. Mad Men is indeed better than Succession. I said it. You can root for a few characters on Mad Men.

The White Lotus spoof was perfection. The best thing I have seen in awhile. Loved all the returning players. Wish Cecily could had made it. I kept wondering if she was freezing during the first number. Why exactly has it been 15 years since Hamm has hosted?

Yeah I was coming to say I saw that. Don't think I've ever seen someone race off like that ever on the show. He didn't seem happy being up there. Bad vibes between him and the cast? The Joann segment was also my favorite thing in the whole show.

Yeah maybe it's too hard to do the whole thing justice, but it didn't work for me at all. The nastiness of it was too watered down. JAJ's impression has outlived any bite it ever had. And I didn't think Mike Myers added much. I realize Lorne apparently wants to make it up to Gillis that he was axed as a cast member right after being hired and seems to love the guy, but he isn't all that from what I've seen. (FYI Lorne offered him the chance to play Trump this season, but Gillis ditched the whole idea to go to some festival at the time of the season premiere.) I do like that Jane Wickline is finding her voice on the show. She seems very specific in what she wants to do. I'm not sure both she and Ashley Padilla survive to next season.

Maybe I'm just an old person now, but multiple times this episode I said,"What the hell was that?!?!". Definitely agree the second musical preformance was better.

Yay! I'm happy for you! Who's playing Blanche? Oh yeah, I'm so happy we got one more Church Chat while Dana is still around. Maybe not the best one as I think the Church Lady has mellowed a bit with time, but it brings back good memories. Anybody else miss Pearl at the end? Just me? Ok. I didn't know Shaboozey, but I did know The Bar Song. Heh. Well that makes two of us. I knew him instantly.

I'm not sure what was going on, but my channel came in late on both the second song and the spotify sketch and then cut the show off before the goodbyes. Weird. Haven't seen the new Gladiator and don't know Paul Mescal from anything, but I thought he was pretty charismatic and seemed into the show. He can definitely come back.

Nothing against Bill Burr, but I was hoping for a bigger name for next week.

That show felt like it flew by. I really liked most of it, but of course all everybody's going to remember is VP Harris being there right before the election. Same. I can't believe that didn't get cut. It needed a lot of work, and that's also why I brought up Kenan's bit from years ago.

Why wasn't Kenan playing Reba? He even has Andy there. Just sayin'. Yes I remember that.

I recognized this case immediately. This was obviously based on the case in Newport News, Virginia a couple of years ago where an elementary school student ( I think he was as young as first grade?) shot his teacher and the principal had some prior knowledge of the gun. Luckily the teacher survived, though. I liked the episode. I really enjoy the Reilly/Shaw partnership. I think all the LTs are always going to live in the shadow of Van Buren for me. The legal side has improved, especially when Maroun is not front and center.I keep hoping for more guest appearances from Jamie or even Abbie.

I think so. Even so though, when Billy recounts the memory he shades it a bit in my opinion.

I absolutely loved it. Granted I'm an admitted SNL Nerd. I've read every edition of the Shales/Miller books and love to hear backstage details of the show. The cast was pretty good. I thought the standout was the actor who played Chevy. Absolutely nailed him. I thought the portrayal of Belushi was pretty sympathetic as a tortured soul . Likewise the actor and picture of Garrett Morris was very positive. Loved his big scene at the end. Wanted a lot more of Gilda, Jane, and Laraine. Appreciated the focus on Rosie Shuster and how crucial she was in helping the show get off the ground. The big thing that I'm on the fence about is the portrayal of Lorne. Didn't love the actor. To some extent, it's hard to get rid of the image of Lorne we have now as basically a force of nature. I would have appreciated maybe a hint of the gravitas and even fear people have of him now. I have read mainly about the situation with Billy Crystal from Billy's point of view. So it was interesting to see the take here that put the blame on him getting cut squarely on Billy's shoulders. Since they shoehorned Milton Berle into this, I wish they had even a teeny bit of what happened with Louise Lasser. That would have been fun. I know how fashionable it always is to dog the show. But for anybody who has liked the show, especially in the early years, this is a must see.

I thought the show started off pretty strong, but it totally collapsed after Update. I agree about the last sketch. It seemed a little off and just didn't work. The Cold Open was actually a pretty good summary of the week campaign-wise. I thought it was a little awkward seeing Alec but whatever. I'll probably feel that way for some time. I actually recognized Ashley Padilla. At least I know she's done something on the show now. Michael Keaton was pretty strangely low key throughout the show.

Yeah I got that. It still didn't work for me. I just couldn't buy into it. As Pete Martell always says, I guess I just wish the writing, and in this case, the premise was stronger.

I just thought it was very lazy and scraping the bottom of the barrel of ideas. That's the best thing they could think of to lead off? The teams weren't even balanced. Even if Scarlett wasn't there, they couldn't even have Chloe do Ivanka? Meh. I agree it was uneven. My favorite was probably the Celine Dion sketch. Oh and I meant to say before that I do wonder if Stevie said "NO" to the monologue.

This episode is all about Stevie Nicks for me. "The Lighthouse" is incredibly powerful. For such a revered artist to put herself on the line with a song so charged and relevant is inspiring. And then Stevie singing "The Edge of Seventeen"? Be still my aged Gen X heart.

With the breaking news that Shane Gillis turned down an offer to play Trump for season 50 and that James Austin Johnson's Trump was cut from this episode, it does seem like they have soured some on JAJ's portrayal and are looking for an alternative. I Also think they were expecting a lot more buzz over Bowen playing JD Vance similiar to Melissa McCarthy playing Spicer. I'm of two minds about Biden. I've long felt the impressions were mean. But it's so nice to see Dana on the show and that he's hanging in there after the past year. I relate and find it inspring that he's out there. I also think it would be fun for Trump and/or Vance to have to deal with The Church Lady.

Ben Stiller is probably the poster child for that. There's also Sarah Silverman and to a lesser extent, Jay Mohr ( He was actually a movie star for a hot second after Jerry Maguire.) and Rob Riggle. In other news, turns out Shane Gillis turned down the offer to play Trump for season 50. Apparently Lorne couldn't believe it. Maybe that's Gillis' revenge for the show cutting him loose immediately after hiring him?

This was a pretty fun show. I guess it helps when they have an idea on how to write for the host. Good take on the debate sketch. I wondered what they were going to do with it. At least they didn't have to get weird with a fly this time. And props for not shoehorning Trump in. I could tell they were rushing through Update. It will be interesting to hear if they cut anyone's bit for time. Honestly my first reaction was Oh wow, it's the "My dick in a Box" duo. Lol. It took me a few seconds to register that it wasn't Timberlake with Andy. Yeah, I was wondering that, too. Where are they?

They never did hit on a good Biden impression as president. I don't even remember how many different takes they tried. That said, it was great to see Dana back. My thoughts exactly! Chris Redd's impression was so onpoint that I didn't envy Devon. His take was just okay. I just wanted to hear Chris nail the Mayor's speaking voice again. Weird to feel sightly underwhelmed with a Jean Smart episode. I agree they didn't give her enough to do. I'm slightly surprised there wasn't a Designing Women sketch. Oh to hear Julia Sugarbaker spout off right about now.
