The People's Court - General Discussion
wallysmommy replied to Lillybee's topic in The People's Court
For the life of me, I cannot imagine spending my hard earned money for a TMZ celebrity tour -- oh, and a chance to see Kim Kardashian! Dear Producers, we watch PC for the cases, not for Levin and his shenanigans. There's no forum for Judge Mathis that I could find (go figure), but even the lowest litigant on PC is way better than the best litigant on Mathis. -
John Besh is what most of the natives of our generation sound like. He lives in the same town as I do, just outside New Orleans. We've lost much of the accent that is attempted by the actors on NCIS New Orleans. Our parents and grandparents had the Brooklyn-esque pronunciations. Even the later generation Chalmatians don't have the accent.

In our area, the "apostrophe" is a "comma at the top" or "overhead comma." I know, off topic, but it's the reality of the supposed use of the apostrophe.

Earlier this week I watched a rerun of Judge Mathis (with all of his truly yucky litigants). He told one of them that they should be glad they're not on "Judy" because she would yell at them. They deserve more than yellling. Merry Christmas, fellow JJ fans/snarkers.

I volunteer to coach Scott Bakula on the proper pronunciation of New Orleans street names. It's An-gel-a. Not Angela (like the girls' name).

I would add ammonia as in noun. A lung infection. "She left the window open and my sister caught ammonia." Except this was on People's Court, I do believe.

I'm so proud of myself that I was able to use a MMism yesterday. We were looking at employee satisfaction data for a particular department. Annual turnover rate is 70%. The item "my director is good at retaining employees" is 95/100 -- top of the band. I was able to tell the director of HR "what am I going to believe, you or my lying eyes." This department is giving me enough material that my doctoral dissertation is a case study of this phenomenon. -

"We're single parents with a bunch of kids in the house." Yep, great environment to raise children in. I work in a hospital and we see lots of sad cases in the ED, but I've never seen one as poorly aged as the 54 year old mother. -

My thought on today's first case -- you have to have character in order to sue for defamation of character. -
My SIL was hired as an extra for an episode filmed at a local reception hall/party place. I believe the premise was a wedding reception gone bad. She said they filmed the same scenes over and over again to get the "bad deeds" just right. Yep, it was 100% fakery.

When someone gets an "Oh, Shit" look on their face when JJ goes to her "office" to call someone to substantiate the litigant's testimony.
-
Can't stand Kathy Griffin, thought Day was obnoxious, so the abysmal failure of the last laugh twist worked quite well for me.
-
What I actually hated about last night's episode was Julie Chen's feigned surprise at the TAR contestant announcements. So overblown and stupid sounding!

I had to take a double dose of my Metformin to counteract the overdose of sugar coming from the tv during the Barbie case. -
I just have to share that I saw the seat-belted cheese ball episode for the first time on YouTube this weekend. It was pure joy and entertainment. Thank you to whomever posted the 2001 episodes. BTW, I guess I'm a super special multi-tasker as I am working on my doctorate and continuing to hold a FT job, as are most of my cohorts. We would fail the entry exam to be a JJ litigant.

Yesterday's 2014 rerun something about a car I think where JJ told the plaintiff something about don't fall into his wife's stupidity - 4 litigants with about 6 teeth among them. You can tell I was too appalled/transfixed by the bad dental care to even pay attention to the stupidity of the case.
-
This is a message to the JJ support staff who find litigants -- I want the case of the woman who stole the phone and took a bunch of selfies that showed up on the phone's owner's FB page. I'd love to hear that defense in JJ Land.

I wanted to slap that smirk right off that fake redhead's face in the teacup Yorkie case. Even when she was being yelled at, she had that s*hit-eatin grin. -
I listened closely. JJ did say "Get lost" in the "He's my baby but I haven' seen him in 4 years" case. The mom topped the cake. What was her stake in this? She was evidently divorced from dad for a long time, daughter lived with dad, and now she's going to share her knowledge of dog chipping law with JJ.

Re: Miracle et al. vs. Properly Spoken English I taught for several years at the university level, often in the MBA program. I was amazed at the lack of ability to write coherently among students who entered the program. I could almost predict from which local university they received their undergraduate degree. I cringe every time I hear scrambled verb tense, particularly of the type we hear on JJ.

Let's just rename this show "Wannabe Comedians Pretend to be the Worst Cooks in America." Sarah's mom teaches culinary arts. Her brother owns a restaurant. She has moved to LA to become a voiceover artist. I smell a rat, and it's not Remy.

To me the quote of the night was Kortni - I don't know about Greek. Isn't that where the Romans are. I cringed when they put she was from New Orleans on the screen, since that's my home town.

Back to the snotty EMT bitch...I recall someone looked at FB page back when we were on TWOP. She's not an EMT, she's an actress. She got her 15 seconds of fame and it was resurrected through reruns. I work in a hospital and I have collaborated with instructors for the EMT programs who use our facility for clinical rotations. She wouldn't have made it through the registration process However, she is good for conversation so I wish the JJ staffers would find us some more like her instead of dog/cat/other animal cases. I also fast forward through them.

The moment Ricky pops up in an episode, I automatically change the channel. I wonder if this guy has ever lived this down. -
Overnight rerun with the lovely Seara Simpson. For kicks 'cause I have nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon, I checked her FB page. Evidently mom forgot to make sure she took her pill everyday because she's now stay-at-home mom to 3 kids.
