Bill said that he had new blood/ that he was different now was to explain to Sookie why he couldn't feel her anymore. He even tells her that it can't absolve him of his sins in general or the horrible things he's done to her, he doesn't even imply that. I was just glad to have TB attempt to actually explain something vampire related instead of just glossing over it. I guess I saw Sookie's confession that she didn't love Alcide as much as he loved her to be all about Alcide- she felt bad because she wasn't giving back to Alcide all of the love he deserved and it was killing her inside. Hoyt asked for himself to be glamoured, that's it... So no, mama fortenberry didn't get glamoured... Maybe his glamouring occured just before he left, so she didn't know that he'd forgotten all about Jessica? Or she doesn't bring it up with him anyway, since she hates Jessica and would rather pretend it didn't happen.

I still find it entertaining :P But that's what makes everyone different, right? If we all had the same opinion this board would be even more boring than some of you thought this episode was. Thinking more about this Eric thing... I don't know if I'd go as far to say that Sylvie was the love of his life... but she was someone he cared about and someone who's death he was responsible for. I honestly think Nora was a more important love for him. His 'lost the will to live' thing is IMO more related to Nora's death and Godric's... Sylvie is just one more piece of that. And since Nora had no place to call home with the authority blowed up, and who knows where Godric came from- returning to France, to a winery that still exists and has the same set pieces as the flashback is more convenient. In S1 Eric is all "I do not love humans" so this might feed into why he felt that way. He let himself love a human, or at least like her enough to want to keep having sex/ feeding on her. As he tells Pam, he went about life with his usual "Devil may care" attitude... this looked like that to me. He didn't care about the authority or what their plans were, he wanted to do what he wanted to do... Eric has always acted that way- even back when he was human. I was surprised they set it so recently, since he's been around for a thousand years... but I guess that was the only way they could tie in the japanese guys, and gives us another visit with Nan...

I definitely think some of the scenes dragged on... but in general, I'm liking the direction this season is taking. It's getting rid of some extra characters... and upping the shock value with the whole "anyone can die" sort of thing... I don't mind Sarah Newlin coming back, they left her alive last season for a reason. Hep V is a threat, sure, but there needs to be something else or someone else... some sort of bad guy... otherwise what else are we going to watch these people do for 7 more episodes? The rescue operation has to happen soon, and then what? So Sarah Newlin will be an obstacle... these corporation guys will be in the mix... There will be a search for a cure for the hep V... There has to be a reason for people to do things, or we'd just be watching them go to the grocery store and hang out at a bar.

Sookie can unglamour her and find out where they are keeping the others... Even if Sookie just gets pieces, she surely remember fangtasia and the basement dungeon... Too many people are at stake, I don't know when Sookie will be able to really grieve for Tara and Alcide. At least Alcide had a body for her to cry over... that's the tough thing with Tara dying as a vampire- it's a rough way to go.
-
But Alcide had a body to cry over, he could actually have a death scene... Tara, as a vampire would have been there one second and an exploded goo the next, no time for goodbyes like with Godric or Nora. So that choice of not having Tara's death shown on screen doesn't bother me... but I am hoping we are still going to see some more moments of mourning for Tara. Now Sookie's got two people to grieve over.
-
Don't even speak the words! The werepack (and the stupid panthers) need to stay far, far away from our bon temps!! I'm sad that this is how Alcide's story ends... but not sad to be back down to one 'two natured' creature on our show. Sort of like in the beginning... there are vampires, and there is Sam... everyone else is human or a little bit fairy. Too many magical creatures gets a lot more difficult to handle, IMO. Did we get much of his story in the past aside from that he was married when he started seeing lettie mae? I might have zoned out during his long talk to Willa... so I could be wrong, but didn't he say that his marriage was in trouble and his wife strayed, but that he was still married? So I guess it fits, it's just more detailed and round about then what we've heard before?

I think there is a difference for Tara/Pam though... since Pam didn't want to be a maker (and even mentioned that she'd done it once before and it didn't go well) maybe she just doesn't have that sort of 'maternal' instinct. I think she cared about Tara, but she'll always care about Eric more... Eric is her world. So it didn't bother me that much. At least she acknowledged it... and I'm sure after the loss of Tara it makes the idea of Eric dying of HepV even more difficult for Pam to handle.

Wow... I know Alcide was going to be out of the picture soon, since relationships never get to last on this show, but I wasn't expecting him to go out that way. Stupid ass vigilante people... If they hadn't been there, Sookie's plan (however bad of a plan it was) would have actually worked in that they got Holly back and killed the infected that were with her without anyone on Sookie's side getting hurt. But nope... here's another dose of guilt for Sookie. I'm not opposed to Bill/Sookie, since I've always liked that pairing, but I wanted it to happen because Sookie knows things weren't right with Alcide as opposed to Bill being the only guy left. Though I suppose she did at least admit that things weren't quite as good as they seemed between her and Alcide. I like the fact that Bill and Sookie actually got to have a decent conversation, since that hasn't happened in like... 5 seasons? I'll kind of miss ma Fortenberry, but they way she was pointing that gun at herself last week, I knew she was going to be a goner... Vince and the rest of his stupid group need to take a hike... along with Violet... she's handy to have around, but man... what a bitch! Jason isn't "warrior" enough for you because he actually cared about all those dead people? I didn't like her before... and I definitely like her even less now. Didn't care that much about the rev's story... it went on a touch long for me, but the moment itself was good. Where's Willa going to go now? Hopefully she's made friends with Jess during the 6 month time jump. Eric's story was interesting- and I suppose adds to the initial impression of him that he doesn't really care about humans at all. I'm not at all surprised that the idea of vengeance would get him up and moving, ready to fight. (Sarah newlin's stuff could have been shorter and more to the point...) I loved 80's Eric and Pam... they were almost as fun as 80s punk Bill. It was nice to see Nan Flan again! Her and Pam could have been friends... LOL. Some parts of this ep dragged for me, but overall, things are moving and shifting, stuff is actually happening... I liked it.

Oh, I agree... it's not worth the money... so I suppose I'd have been more annoyed if I'd bought it instead of just flipping through it and sticking it back on the shelf. But it was nothing lost for me- I've never been all that invested in the book characters anyway... Goodreads is always entertaining... some folks will get bent out of shape for just about anything.

You can find a pdf of it floating around somewhere... or stop at a book store and look up the people you like and be done with it :P Aside from the main characters- Sookie, Sam, Eric, Pam, Bill and maybe a few others... most of the characters got a sentence or less. For example : X person ( I can't remember who) died in a car accident. Some of them were big downers- people dying or getting divorced... which I suppose is reflective of real life and how it sucks. But I wouldn't say it was the worst thing ever, not if you went in with the right expectations. It's not a novel or even a short story, so if people were expecting that, then surely they'd be disappointed. I thought it was fine for what it was- almost like an appendix of endings for the characters. But I'm sure plenty of people were also pissed off by her choices of how people's stories ended, namely Sookie and Eric... but given how she ended the final book, Sookie's marriage and kids made sense, as did Eric getting along in his new life just fine.

I swear I've read an interview with Alex somewhere... like maybe during S4? Or just after it... and I know he said something about Eric's love life and how he opened up to Sookie and it didn't work out, hence the closing himself off blah blah... but I also recall him saying something about maybe this has happened to Eric before, that there was someone he loved in the past and couldn't keep them, and that's why he was the way he is when it comes to humans and human relationships. Certainly it could have just been Alex speculating or what he had been thinking for the role at the time, but I swear I'm not making it up! It was forever ago though, and not in reference to this season... but I guess for me, hearing that he's got another love interest, and now hearing spoilers that it's someone from his past doesn't surprise or upset me all that much. Surely he's connected with others in a 1000 years...

The Jessica/Bill release thing is very unclear... since I think once a maker has released it's progeny, then they can't summon their progeny anymore. That's part of the release, they no longer have the blood ties they used to have. Summoning is like an "As your maker I command you" sort of thing, so it'd make sense that it would be gone with the magic of the release... and why Lorena couldn't summon Bill any longer. Up until Billith summoned Jessica, we could have pretended that the releasing worked but Jessica didn't want to leave. He said the "as your maker" during the witch spell, but could be complicated by the spell... and he also said it once when he was in the authority and trying to get Jessica to go with the guard people to come to him... so I could see that being more a case of the magic doesn't work, but when I say these words you know I'm serious... like using first-middle names when your kid is misbehaving... Or the writers just are ignoring the releasing thing because it doesn't work with the story now.

It's been 6 months since she's had fairy blood... I think it's just supposed to be because she hasn't fed in awhile... they've definitely made it sound like blood is in very short supply.

Jane is Jane Bodehouse... she is that slutty lush that's been around since S1... the one who cut her finger off during the Maryanne days... So far we haven't seen Ginger.. that one girl looked a lot like her, but once you got a better look (and heard her scream) you couldn't tell it was her. I think we'll get Ginger when Eric & Pam return to Louisiana... We didn't meet mob leader guy last season... so I guess they didn't expect us to know him. They did try and do some rushed exposition on him in the first episode- that he ran against Sam for Mayor (since with the time jump we missed a lot of stuff) and that he's kind of a dickwad... but that's all we know about him... and that he's getting crazier and crazier with the mob. I love the southpark reference, I think that sounds like the best way to think of Mob leader guy... Manbeardog is serious threat!

I never got that impression about the blood exchange from what we've seen on the show. Sure the blood affects you and makes you feel attracted to the vampire who's blood you've drank, but I've always took it as the blood can't make you fall in love. Like Lafayette says, the blood enhances... The sex dreams are one thing, but with all the blood that's been exchanged on this show, everyone would be in love with everyone else if it could make you fall in love, or think you're in love. So I guess it's just one more thing that isn't clear- and that people can see differently, since for me the point has always seemed to be that there is still real love despite all the other stuff...

Eric gave Jason his blood in the vamp camp to heal him after Eric let everyone out of their prison rooms... that's when Jason was bouncing all around, high fiving dead guards and stuff... V trip Jason is kind of adorable... I loved the Bill/Sam scene, it was a shame it stopped when it did... but I also quite enjoyed Eric/Jason.. in the words of QSA, I just love watching two men together :P Personally, I've always been hoping for a flashback of Bill & Eric hooking up... they have great chemistry together.

The thing is, i think Sam and Bill's original plan had merit- it was just bad luck to try and put it into practice outdoors on the night the HepV vamps decided to move on to BonTemps. (We hear one of the infected vampires even mention that they were a lot less successful with this attack "how were we supposed to know they'd have vampires helping them" ) Roaming the night with guns and pitchforks isn't going to save you... being in a big group together just makes for easy pickens for the infected. The diary entry even talked about how they waited and attacked a church just as a wedding let out- the perfect place to snatch a ton of people. (like the stupid outside party) Instead, if the towns people know that after dark they need to be in their homes, ideally with a healthy vampire who can intervene should the infected try and start your house on fire or break all your windows etc. The infected won't have much luck with this town and would move on. That leaves people like Andy and Jason (and the rest of the cast we care about) to figure out where the vampires have taken the hostages and to rescue them. Again, a mob of people isn't going to have much luck tracking down the kidnapped, especially when they don't want anything to do with vampires who, while they may be scary, also know how vampires think and could protect you when you walk into a vampire nest with a single gun and a piece of wood. This is also supposed to be like a natrual disaster, but spread across the nation (and apparently the world) so there are no government resources left for small towns, since they're trying to protect the big cities...

I am not a fan of Lettie Mae's expanded storyline... I want some more closure with Tara, but I really don't care about knowing that Lettie Mae is still as terrible of a person as she's always been. Like most of the supporting cast, they are great in small doses, but they don't need their own boring storylines. I'd rather Willa get involved with something else- her and Jessica should be friends... Willa can grieve with people who actually cared about Tara and not just how Tara affected them. I am expecting Ma Fortenberry to get shot/shoot herself in the face after the way she was aiming that gun at her reflection in the station. Those are some stupid ass townspeople. I did love Kenya saying (before she gave up) that if they'd all had guns the night before then everyone would be dead.

The walk in freezer bodies are a complete mystery to me... how did they get there?? The vamps attacked outside, everybody rushed inside or got eaten/kidnapped until the whistle blew, so then the vamps vanished... All the characters were then inside Merlotte's... so when/how did bodies get in there? Who would have put them in there? Makes no sense to me... Crosses do nothing, garlic is 'irritating' but that's about it... so to a hungry vamp, I don't think it would matter. The problem with just expecting to be safe in your house is that they can do things to your house to force you to come outside- light it on fire, throw things through the windows etc. and all they need is a human to glamour and they can get inside. I do think that's a better idea than going on the road and running away, though... especially if you have a healthy vampire friend to help keep you safe. The infected vamps are everywhere, so where are you going to run to? And how do you know you'll be able to find gas/ food/shelter during the drive? By going to St. Alice and finding the diary, Sookie and co know they vamps have a plan- they hit a town and keep coming back until there's no one left instead of hitting a town and moving on to the next one. They went through St. Alice in a matter of days, and just as quickly were moving on to another town. We also learned from the infected that they didn't get as many people as they expected in Bon Temps- that having healthy vampires on the side of the humans actually did make a difference. So they just need to make things more difficulty for the hepVs and they will move on to an easier target. Roaming the town after dark with a bunch of guns they hardly know how to use is just asking to be murdered.... though most of that group I'm not going to miss.

Andy was also addicted to V during the year in which that all happened- When Jason officially joined the police force etc. We don't know for sure how Jason got there, maybe he did actually pass the test... He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but Jason isn't a complete moron either.
-
Oh yes... Jason has stockholders syndrome big time. Violet needs to go bye bye.
-
To each their own, right? While there are always things that I think could be better (but it's easy to say that from the couch instead of the writing room) I think this episode did a good job setting up more of the conflict and what's to come this season. We know the townspeople are crazy, and now they have guns... we also know a little bit more about the hepV vamps and what their agenda is/ that they aren't just out for the kill for fun. We've also had some of our main characters with good personal revelations- Jason is unsure about his relationship with Violet, Andy is extra sure about his relationship with Holly, Sookie still has feelings for Bill... Eric has been hiding out and now we sort of know why, though a lot more info is still needed- where the heck was he/why did Pam know that's where he was and why was she pissed about it... I also enjoyed Jess and her panic over Adilyn... next week is going to be a lot more of the main crew all working together, which is only good in my book. But if some thought this episode was a hot mess, that's fine with me. I'm in this until the bitter end, and so far I'm liking the direction things are going.
-
Yeah... that chick looked like ginger, but when they showed her being dragged away you could tell it wasn't her... the scream was all wrong, too. We'll see ginger soon... she's been spotted in the promos :)
-
I think she was just too sick, I don't think it had that much to do with Arlene's blood.. more that it was just too late. She would have died either way. I still don't get the sleeping in 15 minute increments thing...
-
I agree... I think they are trying to show that they aren't mindless Zombies... just really, really hungry. While people could run away, where are they going to go? The HepV vamps are going to keep attacking wherever people are, so it might save you for a few days or weeks, but eventually they're going to be knocking down your door again wherever you run. But rambling through town with guns isn't the best idea ever. Spend the daylight hours fortifying your house, gather supplies. Get some silver... Make friends with a healthy vampire.... If the HepVs can't get to you, if the town is too much work, they'll move on to an easier target...
