Sigh. Yes, Steve is adopted. But it seems Show has forgotten how that all happened. He is grateful for the decision his birth mother made? What about how Rush, his birth father, bought Steve the baby from his teenage mistress? These writers should have watched the show, or asked someone who may have seen the show. It's not like anyone new is watching.

S08.E09: Friends, Lovers and Children
ZeroDiscipline replied to Primetimer's topic in Beverly Hills, 90210
We had to do that at The Limited too- I worked there 1991-1995. Our awful manager also came up with a code for us to use to write down a brief description of the customer. Like "BW" meant "black woman". Oh yeah, she went there. Racist POS. Plus, how can a description of the customer possibly be necessary when we already wrote down their license number, which has a photo right on it? But aside from that, I vividly remember a white lady yelling at me that she was just going to give me a fake phone number and how dare I ask for her personal information. I just smiled and said "Okay". -

They tried that later though-- turned out Jack was in witness protection this whole time and didn't blow up in the car we all saw him blow up in. By then it was like the writers had not ever seen the show, and were writing it sort of mad libs style. -

I know! Like, Brandon, have you considered not being a sanctimonious blowhard? -

Yeah, it seems that Iris is 2 for 2 in turning out troubled youth, and Dylan is as useless as ever. -

So this is only the 9th episode of this new regime of 90210, and already we're all thinking "END THIS SHOW". Yet, it goes on for 3 more years, and never ever gets better. I am beginning to think this production was a front for a very successful Hollywood coke ring. And oh my God, Mozzart. Of all the famous composers, I think we can agree that Mozart might be the absolute most well-known, along with Beethoven and Bach. Vincent Young must be so very stupid, but regardless, wouldn't someone speak up about the pronunciation, so that they could try another take to protect Vincent Young's idiocy? -
I was so afraid she was going to do that and then smell whiskey!

Ha, I went to Lollapalooza at Alpine Valley in 1992, and while I was gone, a guy I liked called the house, and my mom answered (ugh! Damn you, life before cellphones!) She told him I was at "The Lolly Palootzka".

This show has me so paranoid. I totally thought that Rebecca was going to find that Jack was drinking again, what with the curious attention being paid to his coffee cup.
-
I think it's bullshit that Val is being put through the ringer here. Noah is presenting as A Poor. Valerie is an ambitious 22 year old hottie in L.A. Are we really supposed to clutch our pearls over her juggling two dudes? And think she's a skank because the one she kind of likes more defines himself as a mooching boat-living no wine glass having vagabond loser? She has every right to want to her boyfriend to have a clean glass for her to drink wine out of when she visits him at his boat. Val is keeping her options open. It's really too bad both those guys got so butt hurt over her not pledging her loyalty to either of them.

I had the shirt from those striped pajamas. It was from Victoria's Secret and my sister-in-law gave it to me as a gift for being a bridesmaid at her wedding to my brother. It was the fanciest thing I owned for a long time.

I like how David is still kind of understanding and compassionate towards Valerie. It's like, he knows that whenever she is coming on to him like that, she has an ulterior motive. So instead of embarrassing her and shaming her over her it, he just cuts to the chase and asks her what she wants. And he doesn't even shit talk her to Donna. He knows Valerie is all kinds of fucked up, and he chooses to passively allow it and accept her for who she is. He neither tries to help her nor harm her.

I would too, and I don't feel bad about it.

Even David is hotter than both Brandon and Dylan, though it pains me to say it. Probably Steve too. Another thing about Kelly getting accepted at Columbia, by merely filling out the application form and having at least passing grades with minimal effort, apparently. If she were the type of person that was applying to Columbia, she would not be the type of person who would nonchalantly turn down Columbia because she got back together with her dumb boyfriend. They are 22, and doesn't Brandon have some kind of fellowship money he should be spending on a worthwhile grad school program? Wouldn't Kelly getting into Columbia be a big enough turn of events that the two of them would at least discuss moving to New York together for a few years? I know I'm thinking about this too much, but it is just so ludicrous. These kids are written like 40 year olds who are accepting the fact that sometimes you just have to settle.
-
I find it hard to believe that Kelly would get accepted to graduate school at Columbia University. She is hardly a go-getter and has been distracted from her studies because of her personal life several times over the last four years. She has done no internships. She only volunteers once a year, at the Peach Pit for Thanksgiving. She doesn't even keep up with her sorority anymore. She doesn't even have/ need a job. And we have never heard that she is some kind of intellectual. Maybe it was easier to get into grad school in 1997.

All of this talk of trying to get Brandon to sleep with Val/ Kelly is so trashy. She and Kelly sound like extras at a party at The O.C. I thought they were above this.

S07.E27: I Only Have Eyes For You
ZeroDiscipline replied to Primetimer's topic in Beverly Hills, 90210
No, I believe she has time to find the love of her life sometime between Brandon dumping her and the next season starting. I can't really remember, but I feel like her new boyfriend is in the military or something? We will find out soon enough. -

Oooh, we do see Tracey again though. She gets one more episode next season when they just happen to run into her in Hawaii on her honeymoon or some shit. -

This episode makes me so mad at Valerie. Why did she have to blow her wad so early with what she knew was in Kelly's diary? She was legit getting along with Donna and Claire. She could have parlayed that into much, much more. They were getting annoyed at stupid Kelly and Brandon, and would have continued to have been annoyed had the whole diary talk/apology/ we're sisters thing had not happened yet. Valerie could have continued hanging out with them, and could have continued to occasionally crash in her room after too much wine and movies with the girls, and could have continued reading Kelly's diary. Kelly would have spent more time at the Walsh house and eventually Valerie could have moved into the beach house, who knows. I thought Valerie was better at the long con than this. Inconsistent writing. -
Oh Tracey that was so hard to listen to. Ugh. When she is giving him the massage at the station, and SO AWKWARDLY insinuating they could be friends with benefits, before that was even a phrase, I couldn't help but think of the scene in Billy Madison when Adam Sandler is all "this milk could be our milk" to Pete Sampras's wife, and she's all "No milk will ever be OUR milk." That actress must have really pissed everyone off to be written off like that. I just looked her up on the imdb. It appears this show killed her career, as she hardly worked again after Brandon dumped her.
-
True, Tracey reminded me of so many girls I went to college with, you are right that she was very real and I liked that too. But it seems like they lay on pretty thick that Tracey was always worried about Kelly swooping in and stealing stupid Brandon from her clutches. And then she would talk about her feelings and Brandon and Kelly would assure her that they didn't want to get back together and then they would give each other fuck me eyes and then be all "What's up Tracey? Jeez we weren't doing anything you're crazy. Let's go to Hong Kong, where I am going to tell my dad I don't even like you that much. Why are you so paranoid?" Aspic, which Ray is too poor to have ever seen in person.
-
What has always enraged me about the Tracey character is that she is made out to be paranoid and clingy, yet SHE WAS EXACTLY RIGHT THE ENTIRE TIME ABOUT KELLY AND BRANDON AND ESPECIALLY BRANDON.
-
no doubt about it. I feel like the one that played Susan wanted out too.

I remember howling with laughter with my roommates in college when we watched this episode. Just crying, doubled-over and rewinding the VCR tape over "who put this pot pipe here?????".
