  1. Michelle's only serious moment during HT was when she kept telling the other panelists (specifically Raven/Whoopi) that there was depression involved in the Ashley Madison fallout. She was correct but it sort of got shuffled in between her jokes (seriously she's always making them! It's distracting more so than Joy's were). I think Joy has been keeping up with the show and saw what a mess it was and is looking to fix that--she's reigning in the discussions, keeping it going and them on track (which is what WHOOPI should be doing as the mod). Meanwhile Whoopi is clearly upset that Joy was brought back at all and moderating on Fridays, when ABC knew she wouldn't agree to do it. Sneaky but hey, if she cared enough Whoopi would put more effort in.
  2. Whoopi was cut out of the conversation multiple times and asked by two (TWO) panelists to clarify her point and that she has the information wrong. No wonder she's so grouchy!
  3. Interesting premiere--glad they got rid of the annoying announcer and spruced up the set a bit. They also had somewhat relevant hot topics. Whoopi seems completely checked out, calling out the blue background and "hot topics" logo and the cheap mugs as well. And it did seem at times she was not as warm to Joy as one would think. There was also some tension between her and Paula (her name is Paula right?) when she brought up MLK. Michelle/Joy also seemed like they cancel each other out as someone mentioned (they both step on each others jokes and race to see who can derail the conversation faster with them)--as well as the fact that Michelle and Raven are a clique. Candace and Paula also seem to be one--they kept throwing each other looks and smiling when the others were dissing Palin. Should be an interesting change.
  4. Well the changes seem to be all positive so far. Well, going live five days/not doing whatever Whoopi wants, rotating co-hosts etc. We all thought that things were on track last season at this time so hopefully this will actually do the trick!
  5. The View continuing it's panel-long tradition of keeping it classy!
  6. I was a huge fan of Joy in the prime of the show, but once she got her own show she got tired and too afraid to give her actual opinions. She resorted to cheap one liners...almost eerily similar to Michelle now. With that being said its very telling that she recognizes all that needs to change with the show to make it successful again and they refuse to listen. Like she said she was with the show for years and knows what needs to happen but they obviously aren't interested. Total bummer. Her and Elisabeth's firings really was a miscalculation. BW was always so focused on "Q" ratings and it did Star, Elisabeth and Joy in--three panelists who knew how to bring it on a show like this. Meanwhile Whoopi has a Q rating through the roof and, well, yeah.
  7. The red cups and food emphasize how "cool" and "edgy" this show is now! I mean who else does this kind of stuff on live tv? And with Whoopi's voice overs and voices she does? Such television gold!
  8. For some reason I think Whoopi's hand is behind the "classic" bands being on the show. She probably thinks she's doing a service to the peons who watch the show to let them know what REAL music is. The producers were probably so taken aback she was enthusiastic about anything of course they said yes! She also runs the show at this point, so. And it must be a lot easier to get guests who haven't been relevant in decades to book!
  9. From what I can recall Paula seemed nice but bland. Very forgettable. Is this supposed to be synergy? If so she's just going to toe the ABC News line and that is not what this show needs. Candace vs Raven will be interesting until its not anymore because Raven already has shown signs of annoyance and even turning her back against someone she doesn't agree with--and Candace seems like a broken record. The only promising note from that article is they are considering live shows on Friday--but honestly unless they are going to start focusing on topical Hot Topics again it won't make much of a difference. Also maybe Whoopi will throw a fit since she'll have to work five days a week now and will not show up Fridays.
  10. It was obvious that them adding Raven/Michelle they were going for a 'young vibe' but they aren't very substantive? Michelle has moments of it but she always goes for the cheap joke which is very reminiscent of Late Seasons Joy. And Raven tries to bring a different perspective but today with the Drake/Mills/Kermit discussion it went nowhere and seemed forced and derailed the topic. Its weird to think next season those with critical thinking skills won't even be on the panel (Nicolle and Rosie). And I'm sorry if Whoopi (and Rosie) feels some of these topics are beneath her but considering the alternative topics she seems fond it, at least these are actually in (todays) news.
  11. No love lost between Raven and Rosie. Rosie seems to not to even want to look at her. She only perked up cause "50 Cent" is a fan of boxing or whatever.
  12. This people behind this scenes continue to go out of their way to not know how to make an interesting show. The dumbing down continues. Bring on the Not Topics!
  13. Here's what really bugs me about this Whoopi fiasco--she by all rights has the freedom to say and feel however she does about Cosby or whatever celeb she feels needs defending. In fact, her opinions, as outrageous or ridiculous as it may seem to others in fact make the show interesting. What she doesn't have the right to do is get angry or shut down any opposition to those that feel differently than her, making sure she always had the last word and never even trying to see the other side. That makes the show boring, one sided and infuriating. What she's also now done by this awful fake apology and "realization" is made it so that now she and others on this show will be less likely to express their opinions because Whoopi can't play nicely with others. Poor Whoopi! Victim again! Look what happened when she disagreed with others! Better keep any interesting opinions to myself! Its already run off Rosie O (and Joy again?) so basically this show is going to be even more PC and more fluff. Thanks a lot Whoopi!
  14. If nothing else, this Whoopi/Cosby mess is showcasing what has annoyed so man VIEWers here for so long--her refusal to acknowledge any other opinion as valid, yelling and screaming at the audience, not allowing a conversation to flow (ie moderate), always having to have the last word, and a general disdain for the audience/any other points of view. It's very loyal of her to stick up to a friend but to shut down any other opinions is ridiculous for a show about others views.
  15. The View has the luxury of not having to rely on writers or any truly creative people behind the shows to keep the show going and make it interesting again. This isn't a show that relies on keeping fresh and interesting storylines. What they need is panelists that will keep viewers tuning in. It is is not rocket science. It had this for the first decade plus of the show. That's what makes this show that confusing. It just needs to find the right panelists. They haven't been able to do and seem to continuously go about it the wrong way. They made a mistake "building" the panel around Rosie/Whoopi after the initial reboot last summer. They had options that would have been provocative (Sonny and SE) and they didn't go with them because they listened to Whoopi and Rosie. They need to stop listening to Whoopi and realize what's good for the show.
  16. Todays show had life. It was almost unrecognizable. Keep it going, View! It's ok to (actually) disagree. BW said so.
  17. So wait--more fluff, more schilling and more "permanent" guest co-hosts? They sure do work hard to make this show terrible don't they?
  18. Rosie O used to the end the shows in a similar fashion and that bothered me too. Also speaking of things that consistently happen that bother: Whoopi's "Welcome to the View y'all! **BEAT** Welcome to the View!" as the crowd goes wild.
  19. Today was a solid show through at least the first few Hot Topics. I think it's because Whoopi didn't dominate. Rosie was actually fired up and despite her blue cards of Wikipedia facts she was somewhat coherent. Nicolle tried to bring up an Obama dig toward the end of one of the segments and the other panelists were not liking that. Hasn't Elizabeth been on before with Nicolle? Why did they bring up that Bush connection again? Just so they could gush about him?
  20. You know what's also pretty embarrassingly cheap? Raven's "Intro" during the main credits. It's so awkwardly placed (like this entire show). I mean I'm sure they spent a TON on the very intricate Smiling Hosts with Large Name Behind Them scenes but couldn't they at least slapped Raven in front of a green screen or something? Tacky.
  21. Whoopi re: the weed/DirectTV firing: the way she presents it is so annoying. Even if someone agrees with her, her indignant behavior is so off putting in some ways. Raven almost raised an opposing view but it was quickly shut down. And real rich Whoopi chastising the panel again: "And that's how you feel. This is how I feel. That's how YOU feel." Bizarro Whoopi.
  22. Rosie yesterday" "What I'm trying to say, what I'm trying to say" SAY IT! It's also interesting that the day after they announce Raven as permanent they invite Stacy London on. I like Michelle Collins better but I'm over the comedic angle as a panelist. also I'm glad Nicolle read that hilarious quote Ally Wentworth said about Lena Dunham! Glad we didn't miss out on that hilarious exchange....
  23. How dreadful you can't even really tell the difference between a Live and Pre-taped show. And not for positive reasons like great production or clever editing, but because of continuously non-relevant discussions and a lack of current hot topics.
  24. I still can't get over this week and last week when Whoopi wasn't there how they bended over backwards to show clips of her movies, praise her, etc to ensure we don't have a "Whoopi free hour." The staff and co-hosts had to get all that stuff cleared. These weren't some spur of the moment decisions. They had to sit down and think 'Hmmm, what does our audience want to see? Want to hear at the start of every show? Yes, more praise about Whoopi!' All that had to be cleared. Blows my mind and shows how far this show is in a hole. Obviously this has something to do with the last time Whoopi was out and Rosie O was the moderator and the show was picking steam back up. Whoopi ended her medical leave early and the first thing she did when she came back was say how people tuning in during her absence probably had no idea what show they were watching. She was right--it was a better one. This time the production staff obviously didn't want to upset Whoopi and make sure she knows just how VITAL she is to the show. Alienating the few viewers left in the process. And not to continue on too much because I do like Michelle and Raven but really? They are going to hire two people who have been on so much and have added very little to the chemistry and vibe of the show? They need to create hype for next season and sadly this won't do it. Unless they can Rosie and bring in a young Republican.
  25. Those ratings are very disappointing. Even stranger that is a noticeable drop for the season which has been consistently a tad up from last season, but still down from season 5 and almost half from season 4.
