  1. Yup, we get some real whoppers on that line, let me tell you. My favorite is always the "alligator in the canal" because the call goes "Yeah, hi, I was going for an afternoon jog near the canal and I saw an alligator swimming in it. I need you guys to come remove it because there are children in the area and they are at risk". First, LMAO at the idea of me or any of my co-workers alligator wrestling; 2nd, how about you NOT jog near the canal if alligators make you nervous; 3rd, the gator is in its own habitat, leave it the eff alone; 4th.....half of the existing county was still swampland until about 35-40 years ago. And now its so overbuilt that people are living practically on the existing Everglades. How about you don't move to a swampland area if you don't want to deal with wildlife?
  2. This is the problem with my job. We have no support from our Division and everything is our fault. They automatically take any complaint received as valid, leaving you to defend yourself. Another story: After 5pm (and weekends), our call center is out of service. The after hours calls used to be dispatched through the police department, but they got sick of dispatching animal-related calls and so our department decided to add that task to the night crew (and the AM/PM weekend workers). So guess what? Not only do we have to respond to our existing calls, but we have to deal with answering and dispatching calls WHILE STILL on the road! What was supposed to be a temporary thing has now been going on for a year and a half......and despite my supervisors begging for a dispatcher to be hired, the director is refusing saying "we are handling it. " Never mind receiving high volume calls and voicemails while driving is a distraction. But if they get a driving complaint, it will still be our fault---even if its because we are going around a reckless driver who is swerving in and out of lanes (texting/watching videos most of the time) , having to deal with people who will cut in front of you and slam their brakes, or having to eventually cut someone off when switching lanes to get off the highway because no one wants to let you over. And most of the calls are wildlife and DOA animal calls---both things that we don't respond to. We've asked repeatedly to have them change the greeting at least, informing citizens that our department deals with LIVING dogs and cats only .....but no, he refuses to do even that. Besides the safety factor of having to be pulled over on the side of the street listening to voicemails at night, its extremely annoying to have to delay getting to an abused animal case because your shuffling through voicemails, hearing people prattle on about alligators swimming in canals, opossums and raccoons in their backyard, and complaints about the amount of ducks in their neighborhood. Its enough to make you want to throw your phone out the window. Its also enough to make me want to leave the night shift, and I plan on doing so the next time our "shift bid" comes up. Which sucks, because I loved my schedule up until this dispatching crap started. I'm a night owl, and I dread the thought of having to wake up at 6am to get to work by 8am. I'm so angry at our director for the blatant lack of caring he has for our section---when we are the only ones having to deal with the good, bad and ugly of Animal Care outside of the safe confines of the shelter.
  3. Some people are just too stupid to live. Last weekend, I responded to call to pick up a stray puppy. Of course, as soon I placed the puppy on my truck, it starting going nuts and barking because it didn't want to be confined alone. I was prepared to hurry up and get him back to our shelter, when another call came in to pick up one of our adoptable sick cats from the pet store it was at. So I go to the store, scruff the kitten by the nape of the neck-like its mother would- (as is our SOP to ensure the cat doesn't escape while moving it) and placed it in the transfer cage and place it on my truck. Of course, the whole time I was doing this, the puppy was still in my truck, barking up a storm. I quickly place the kitten in one of the compartments in my truck and head back to the shelter. No big deal....or so I thought. Mind you, there are only 2 of us working at this time covering our whole county. Today I get told by my boss that I've been banned from picking up cats from that particular store because one of the employees was upset that "I picked the cat up by its head" and then "placed in a truck with a loud, barking dog, traumatizing the cat". WTF. Any other way of picking up the cat, and it would have put up a fight going in the cage (they always do) and then it would have possibly escaped and got loose in the store. And a car ride is going to be traumatizing to the cat anyway, not much I can do to make a puppy be quiet. There were too many calls and I was too far from the shelter to drop off the puppy first, then go back and pick up the cat. And guess what? The cat survived the truck ride, with no emotional scarring. Its the same pleasant little kitten its always been, being treated for its cold. I hate stupid people.....and I especially hate people who tend to over-anthropomorphize pets.
  4. Its set on the west coast of Florida. I've seen hipsters sporting the late '80s fashion but not so called wannabe gangstas like Roller. But then again, all bets are of when it comes to Florida fashion....believe me.
  5. Yup, he mentioned something about either not being able to get an extension for the light bill or forgetting to call to ask for an extension (I can't remember the exact wording). But little Ms. Independent said yes anyway. My darn cats have more common sense then RA/Darla put together. Poor Blue.
  6. When he told Davis that the cop said "I'm going to take the spoon out of your mouth and put something else in", I totally thought the cop forced Micah to give him a blow job and even raped him anally. But what happened is just as psychologically damaging. I get what you're saying, but Remy's comments have shown that, at his core, he just doesn't like who Charley is. Last season, he fell in love with a weakened version of Charley---one that depended on him to help her through the double whammy shock of losing her father and the Davis situation. Now that Charley is getting back to herself and who she is, he can't stop criticizing her. As for RA and Darla, they could work IF RA actually learns to listen to her and allow her equal footing in the relationship. RA is stuck to this idea of having the farm to himself with Darla as his ever dutiful wife by his side.....without putting in the actual work with either. Darla stated repeatedly she needs her independence right now to maintain her sobriety, and he proposed by saying "I want you here with me tonight, and every night for the rest of my life". What he should have said was : "Darla, I want you to be my wife. I want you to know I'm committed to you. I know you need your independence right now, but I want you to know I'm always at your side. I know I have some things to work out myself right now too(especially with my sister). When both of us are fully on our feet, let's gets married". But no, typical RA is tone-deaf to anyone else's needs and think its fully appropriate to propose to wed someone when he's not even able to keep the lights on in the house without relying on his sister's assistance. As for Nova/Robert.....he has the potential to be "The One" for her, if she can overlook how he manages his career. If its a dealbreaker for Nova, then it is what is. Its not up to Vi to try force Nova to stay in a relationship she's not feeling, because he's a good man on paper. But it looks like it isn't a dealbreaker so I do hope those two work it out.
  7. This. Charley: If you need to beg the man (in tears, no less) to be with you at the start of the relationship.....that's huge RED FLAG. Turn around and walk away immediately. I know Charley mentioned wanting to feel taken care of, but Remy is not the man for her. And honestly? She should be playing the field a bit and not getting involved seriously with anyone. She and Davis not even divorced yet, and Remy is too full of bullshit and drama to be a light-hearted fling. I wish that we could get scenes with Charley and Nova going out alone, and Nova helping Charley pick up men. I think Charley needs a good no-strings-attached screw. Vi was irritating me with talking Nova into staying with Robert, just because he's a "good man". What does a being a "good man" have to do with compatibility? He could be the best man in the world, but maybe he's just not right for her. I, too, am tired of Vi trying to get the girls to compromise with the men in their lives. I don't think either Ralph Angel or Remy even apologized for their asshole-ish behavior, but Charley is supposed to hand-wave all that because they're men? Fuck that. After last week, if I were Charley, I would have told Ralph Angel that I would be providing a payroll check for his probation for Blue's sake only but he would be best to find a real job and quick---unless he agrees to honor his father's original will. The agreement would be made that if he tries to make a legal play for sole ownership of the land, the purse would be shut from here on out. The Micah/Davis scenes broke my heart. I don't think Timon Durrett (Davis) is all that great of an actor, but he sold me in those in his reaction scenes to Micah. So Darla JUST got done telling Blue why her independence is important to her sobriety, and Dum-Dum Ralph Angel goes off and proposes the very next day? Ugh. I hope Darla makes it clear to RA that she wants a LONG engagement----if not, then at the very least, until he gets to a good place in his relationship with Charley. Last thing she needs is to constantly be in the middle of the Boredelon bullshit.
  8. You can probably thank Dwayne Johnson for that. His girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, is Sib Hashian's (drummer for Boston, for those who don't know) daughter. And a Google search shows that Sib worked on that album. Sib died earlier this year, so I guess this was either Dwayne's tribute to him and or just a chance to put royalty money in his girlfriend's pocket. Something about this season just isn't clicking with me. I'll continue to watch, but the tone feels off to me. Side note: They were doing a pretty ok job of masking LA as Miami until they got to the scene where Jason was being robbed by the gangsters near the playground. In the background, you can clearly see blue-labeled street signs; Miami's street signs are green. Just a little nitpick.
  9. @Mirmommy I think 10-13 episodes is the norm nowadays because shows are more expensive to produce in the past. Even though Niecy Nash and Dean Norris are considered C-D level celebs, I'm sure there salaries don't run cheap. Also, summer series tend to run shorter and especially a 1st season run. No one wants to risk the cost of producing 22 episodes and have the series get cancelled 3 episodes in. "Claws" was a risky premise, I could see how TNT would only go with 10 eps. Try living down here LOL. Seriously though, I knew Claws was going to be the TV equivalent to a trashy summer novel. I wasn't expecting layered, high-brow television. I like it for what it is (maybe because all these characters are exaggerated versions of people I've actually known or encountered living here) and I am going to be back for Season 2.
  10. My FB annoyance: I'm so over seeing the "TGIF" posts and the "Ughomigod its going to be Monday again" posts every single week. I think the Monday ones are the most irritating ones, because people act like its Monday's fault that it just so happens to be the first day of their work week. If we "got rid of Mondays" like some memes say, then the first day of the work week would be Tuesday and they would bitch about that. And I guess I just don't hate Mondays/the first day of the work week. I usually feel recharged by the time my weekend is over. Its Thursdays that are my "peeve" day. 4 days of adulting is tiring and then there is still one more day left to slog through. But Thursdays (and Tuesdays for that matter) aren't memeworthy days I guess.
  11. Desna is stupid for meeting Roller alone. How could she possibly think he wouldn't get violent with her at the very least? We all know Des will ultimately be safe, since Niecy is the star and all, but I'm still interested to see where this is going. And once this Roller BS is through, I hope she kicks Virginia's ass. I was surprised she let her "crazy men know how to hit it just right" comment slide. ETA:Niecy looked fucking gorgeous in that white summer dress. I don't blame Roller for wanting to get with Desna one last time.
  12. @DeLurker Looks like a Main Coon mixed with a Muchkin. She's adorable...look at that prissy little attitude!
  13. That was riveting. I really enjoyed it. Very American Horror Story lite to me. I'm hooked.
  14. Yay!!!! I'm so happy for you @bilgistic! I just know bigger and better things are in store for you! And I can so relate to the debilitating depression and, I guess anxiety (although, thankfully I haven't had a panic attack in years). I HATE leaving the house. My apartment is quiet and peaceful. The minute I step outside, I feel like I'm constantly surrounded by rude and unpleasant people...so it takes all my energy to force myself to go out and just run errands. And my self-imposed isolation fuels loneliness sometimes, which deepens the depression. Depression is a nasty bitch.
  15. Being around the same ages as the Princes, I felt sad for them in that just a few short years, they will have outlived their mother. I felt like that fact was lingering over this whole doc, and may have more of an effect on both men than the actual 20th anniversary itself. Both William and Harry seem really genuine and down-to-earth, the kind that can't be faked for the cameras. My heart went out to Harry when he said the Bosnian men saw his mother more recently then he did, and how he has to reconcile the fact that his last conversation with his Mum was a throwaway forced interaction. I feel for the both of them on how they had to deal with the press after Diana died, and how I'm sure they still have to deal with it. How everything they do is seen through the scope of "How would Diana feel about what they are doing?" in the eyes of the press. I couldn't imagine how they could either properly grieve, because the ghost of who she was follows them everywhere. I love that they have taken up their mother's causes as a way of remembering her legacy. If the press is constantly going to bring up their mother, they might as well use her still-lasting influences to make the world a better place. Being born a day apart from Diana, I see a lot of myself in her. I know people think astrology is a load of bull and perhaps it is. But I feel like I can relate to her loving and giving side, but also her moody and mercurial side as well. I can't imagine how self-destructive I would be if I was in a loveless marriage, knowing my husband is cheating on me, and having it be public knowledge. How it would feel that to hear everyone in the world say how much they love you ....but to not hear it from the ONE person who is supposed to feel that way about you? To know that he's never really loved you? To have 2 kids with this man and to know that there is nothing you can do to make the marriage work and the public fall out is going to be huge? That's a mind fuck for real.
  16. Supposedly, it has been cleared by HR and he will be using the reports he uses to track our work as his "proof".
  17. Sorry for the double post, but I just got news of a change in work policy that is going cause drama, tears, and fireworks. I expect to be sharing a follow-up post once this policy goes through. In my department, there are 14 of us when we are fully staffed. 7 people to work the 8am-4:30pm shift and 7 people to work 2pm-10pm. When someone leaves, they have a "shift bid" where people choose their preferred schedule.....and traditionally, the pick of the schedule has gone by seniority. Shift bids usually occur when someone leaves. We had 2 people leave in the past two months, so we have a shift bid coming up within the next few weeks. Shift bids usually cause drama anyway, because if one person with seniority decides to change their schedule in any way, the people below them work themselves into a frenzy about it. And of course, the lowest man on the totem pole is always pissy that they get the crappiest schedule. Now our director has decided that future shift bids (meaning this upcoming one) will no longer allow people to choose by seniority. He is now enforcing that shifts will be ranked by productivity. So whomever he feels is the most productive of the team will get the best choice of schedule and whom he is feels is least productive gets the shitty shift. My dept has 3-4 "Dips" (useless and really need to retire already) that have always had top choice due to their seniority. My dept also has about 3-4 people who insist they are the hardest workers in the room even though they do jack squat. So watching this go down is going to be a sight to behold. My boss told me about it (because I confronted him about whispers I was hearing about it) but it hasn't been made known to the whole team yet. I'm preparing myself to live with and deal with where ever I fall in the ranking. WW3 might just begin at my workplace....just saying.
  18. @hoosier80 I just want to complement you on what a strong person you are. Between your job and that mother of yours....I would have gone off the deep end by now. If you're ever in the South Florida area....drinks (on the beach, if you'd like; non-alcoholic if you aren't a drinker) are on me!
  19. @ennui and @Nordly Beaumont I feel your pain. The whole parking lot can be empty and I'll still get people parking right next to me. Same with the bathroom. Even worse is when they don't flush. Thanks for ensuring that the odor permeates into the next stall and leaving your crap (literally!) for the next woman to deal with. Women are such damn pigs in public restrooms.
  20. Wow. I knew Roseanne and John were getting up there, but I didn't realize they were 65 already. Not that its terribly old.....but damn, time really does fly. The older I get, the more I can relate to Roseanne's chat with Bev about getting older. In my mind, I sometimes feel like a teenager trapped in a 30-somethings body....until I'm actually around today's youth LOL.
  21. In that case, perhaps Nova was 9 or 10 when RA was born, making her 19-20 when True died. Do we know how True died? Perhaps Nova delayed college for a couple years or took a leave when True got sick and returned after her death. Either way RA is a prick for getting mad at her for leaving to better herself. Nothing necessarily has to go wrong in childhood for someone to be an awful human being. I think Violet and Ernest just plain spoiled RA and kowtowed to him and now he expects his sisters and his "lady" to do the same.
  22. They probably did. But in his mind, all he saw was Nova leaving him behind shortly after their mom died.In his mind, he likely thinks if she had stuck around to raise him, he wouldn't have fell into the trouble he did. She was supposed to give up her future for him SMH.
  23. I thought he was yelling because she left after their mother died, when he was 10. Which makes sense because Nova would have been 18 and going off to college at that point. How dare Nova put her education over doting on RA all day! For shame!
  24. Its a Simpson's reference. The Stonecutters are a mockery of a the supposed Illuminati/Freemason secret society. In the Stonecutter's initiation song, they take credit for making Steve Guttenberg a "star". Here's the clip: I liked the Police Academy movies as a child, so I'm glad The Gutte is getting work.
  25. 4 times. He was nearly arrested for trespassing when he was dumpster diving for Kenya. If Antoine hadn't been one of the officers who responded, his ass would be grass. I hate Ralph Angel so much I was physically shaking with anger during this episode. It's totally because I just broke up with a guy that is just like Ralph Angel (right down to being the youngest boy in the family and growing up mostly without a mother)--textbook Narcissistic Personality Disorder. They always want to play the victim and blame others for their problems. They are incapable of viewing women as equals. Girlfriends are considered their property and they expect unwavering perfectionism and loyalty or else they discard you like trash. I'm glad Darla isn't buying into his shit and I'm glad she made the right choice by going to work instead of sitting through the family BS. Dating a Narc while being a recovering drug addict is a recipe for disaster. They do whatever they can to destroy your independence and self-esteem....and we've seen how RA is demanding Darla to live with him, rely solely on him, isolating her to be with him on the farm. She need to say fuck that shit and straight up leave his ass. And fuck Remy too. He was all fine with Charley last season when she was new to the industry and relying on him for help. But now that she's focused on the business/PR side of things (which is her area of expertise), he can't stand that she's thinking for herself and making her own decisions. And who the fuck is he to tell her to how to handle her divorce? Like Charley said, GTFO. I do hope they write in another love interest for Charley, because the chemistry between her and Remy just isn't there anymore, IMO. Charley and Vi's talk in the kitchen got to me also. I can so relate to Charley. Feeling like the outsider in her own family due to the circumstances surrounding her conception (been there). I'm also all too familiar with people assuming I'm fine when going through tough situations because "She's tough, she can handle it".
