Yep, it definitely looks like it is going to ramp up to being about a lot more than just two people having an affair. Me too. I wanted to see what they were up to, but I guess since the story is being told by the adulterers that it leaves time when they spouses just aren't around. Still, I find their characters so much more intriguing...mainly because I also like the actors who play them SO much more as well. I don't think they have enormous chemistry, but I definitely felt they had more chemistry this week than in previous episodes. However, I didn't feel the chemistry during the "romantic" or sex scenes. I felt the chemistry when they were just talking to one another and getting to know one another. I also think having Alison share her secrets and pain with Noah helped build some chemistry between the two. I absolutely think Alison knows more than she is saying about the crime. In my mind, she is calling Noah on the phone and asking him where the hell he is since she is down here being interrogated. I had always assumed that they were being brought in on different days...I just wonder in the timeline who went first Noah or Alison. Here is my problem with how the show is presented....the amount of info that the audience in told as if they are telling it to the detectives. That makes absolutely no sense to me. If it was that each of them were meeting with the lawyers or with a therapist...then fine, but it just seems so incredibly unlikely that either of them are going into such detail about their affair while they are being questioned about an accident that the cop clearly believes was not an accident. I still think the dead person is Cole, however with each passing week it becomes even more obvious to me that it is Cole, so that probably means it isn't Cole.

Yep. This. Also, given that Carrie is supposed to be in charge....I also slightly enjoyed the drone people disregarding Carrie saying "take the shot" a few times over. I will have to rewatch, but the final order to stand down came from either Redmond or Quinn...and there was no looking at Carrie for confirmation from anyone. There was no attempt at all to follow the chain of command in that room.

You think? I don't. Quinn is still caring WAY TOO MUCH about Carrie fucking Aayan because he is a love sick puppy dog. Gross. Just go kick some ass Quinn and forget about the bat shit crazy that is Carrie, mkay?

Gordon walking up with a shotgun in the air and being all guns a blazin'......twas hot! I also can't get over how much I absolutely love the pained look on his face every time Harvey says or does something totally vile. The look when Harvey was heading upstairs for a game of Marco Polo with his lady friend was the best moment of the whole damn episode. Given that Gordon seems to be all about bringing down corruption in Gotham, why again does Cobblepot have such a bromance with him??? Barbara is a dumb, dumb lady. Of course she won't stay away....and runs herself right into danger and ruining things for Jim. And she wonders why he doesn't want to tell her things. Boo. Stop making the womens so dumb show!

I didn't love this episode and felt like it belonged in a different show. I think that Carrie is a huge asset to the CIA, but not as the person IN CHARGE. I think she is best when there is someone else who makes the big calls and she gets in there and gets dirty. Having said that, while it is shocking and sad and what have you that Saul was in the car...I would make the same choice that Carrie wanted to make. She had one opportunity to get the shot and actually kill Haqqani. She was willing to put all the innocent bystanders in harms way when she deployed the drone in the first place, so it should be a different decision when it is Saul in harms way? In all honesty, if it was someone else standing there and Saul had to make the call...he'd order the hit too. Sometimes you have to make the horrible call and sacrifice your own in order to get the job done. Sorry Saul. I do think it's redonkulous that they didn't have someone watching and knowing which one of the cars that Saul and Co. were in. I would have thought the CIA were better than that. I also have NO USE FOR FARA. I know Carrie was all mean and pouty to her, but when they showed us that she can't handle a basic task...then maybe Carrie had the right idea. I like Fara, but I don't think she's meant for field work. She doesn't have the stomach for it. She also is just mind numbingly stupid at times. She didn't even call in that the alarm went off and the garbage bags were messed with? She's sometimes too stupid to live....or more on the nose, she's too stupid for Aayan to live. Yep. Me too. I'm watching for Quinn. If you made a spin off Quinn show, I'd ditch Homeland in no time and be on that in 2 seconds flat.

Jake wearing Holt's guest pajamas. That is all.

I'll hold camp as one of the lone people who likes Dylan McDermott.....always have. However I do agree that they need to decide what his charscter is and the weird drama with his ex is just not cutting it. Is he a good guy battling his demons? Is he a bad stalker who is good at his job because he can all too easily associate with the stalker o' the week? I know they think they are building suspense and intrigue with the whole deep dark secret angle, but it's just not playing...nothing seems real there. The actual stalker guy stalking Beth.....now that I do find interesting. However, I am calling how it will all play out now. Beth and Jack will get closer as friends and maybe even the potential for more....ex will drop the bomb of her secret which will send Beth running for the hills just when stalker boy makes his move and takes Beth (because he loves her as must have her), Jack comes to her rescue as only his damaged self can and in the process of saving Beth.....stalker boy, Jack and even Beth realize that it is Jack who loves Beth. Cue season. I hope I am wrong because I really hate predictable tv, but it's how I see it going down. I would also appreciate tv this season to stop sending creepy clowns at me. Not cool.

S04.E04: Edward Mordrake, Part 2
shelley1234 replied to Tara Ariano's topic in American Horror Story
I finally got around to watching this week's episode. Elsa's back story is just horrific. It made me really feel for her and what she has lost due to her intense desire to be famous. What I didn't get was why her story made her an acceptable person for Edward to take. Twisty's story was also heartbreaking. God damn it. It also made me even scarier since it showed how out of touch he was with what he had become. It did show though that he never planned on hurting the people he took...and just wanted to entertain them. It also showed the dramatic impact an untrue accusation can have on someone's life. I think in the end....Twisty will find peace and happiness in Edward's world. I agree with the masses....I have never enjoyed Emma Roberts. She is a prime example of nepotism. Bleck. -
Cutthroat Kitchen - General Discussion

I am that way when I cook, but much more measured when I bake. I cringed a little bit when he was just throwing things in there and hoping for the best. I laughed at Fabio putting the bread in every type of pan he could think of just hoping one of them turned out right. In reality, especially with banana bread....as long as it tastes banana-y and it is moist, it's probably a winner. And yes, Fabio asking his banana bread to just hold on and be a "one night stand" for him had me rolling. Love it. I loved seeing Antonia judging Fabio too. How he high fived her as she came over in the 1st round. Of course, I think it's super duper cute because it's really a fake, celebrity competition for charity, but if it was a real competition, I imagine their friendship would probably be an issue. I will say this for Top Chef...they really do produce some pretty high quality tv ready talent. -

I love Fabio, I cannot lie. Dude is charming and funny and did I mention charming. I love his bravado mixed with his ability to laugh at himself. Loved that he won making a banana bread by just randomly throwing ingredients in the mixing bowl and hoping it resembled a cake when all was said and done. -
Ahhh, I didn't notice that. I have to watch the show on my tablet so I don't always get the pretty HD images I have grown accustomed to.

For those who are cutters the inner thigh is one of the go to spots. It is somewhere that the pain is immediate and it is easier to maintain and hide. I counseled a few people who engaged in cutting behaviors when I was a college therapist and it was almost always upper thigh, at least in the beginning. It would be interesting in future episodes when I am sure we will see more sex scenes with Alison....if they show old and new scars on her thighs and the discovery of that from Noah in one of their encounters.

I am still feeling that Cole is the death/murder they keep talking about....and the comment that Oscar is the guy they should be focusing on made me think that even more.
-
That was my reaction as well and then my 2nd thought was basically the same one as below.... Shonda always snookers me into watching a show...makes it decent for a season or two and then turns it to some soap opera bullshit when she already has me committed. So yes, I am also refusing to watch How to Get Away With Murder because sadly I am still watching Grey's Anatomy in all it's crappy bullshittery and clearly still watching Scandal....and have no idea why, so I will not let that happen with another show. Nope. Nada. Not gonna happen. As a former GH watcher....BA HA HA HA HA!

Yep. I'd totally sign up to watch THAT SHOW. Make it so Showtime!

S04.E03: Edward Mordrake, Part 1
shelley1234 replied to Tara Ariano's topic in American Horror Story
I am a full grown rational adult and yep....I'm afraid of clowns. Not afraid as in I am gonna go screaming from the room, but I am immediately on edge and suspect of said clowns. For me, I know where the fear comes from. It is two fold. One, in a not so cool parenting move....my folks allowed me to watch 'It' when I was a wee bit and that might have fucked me up for life. Secondly, you hit the nail on the head...I don't like that you can't really see the person behind the clown. I don't like that sense of anonymity. I am much less suspect of those clowns that don't have a mask or the full face paint...the ones with just a red mouth and a few white circles on their faces. Those clowns I am cool with....the full face, full costume ones?? Yeah, no...they can get bent. -
The whole Carrie can't ever pick up here phone thing is absolutely redonkulous. She could easily tell Aayan that she is following up on the red tape to get him out of dodge. She's the lady in charge and no one at the CIA is wondering why she is suddenly missing as well? Bull to the shit. That's just bad writing. I am no writer and I could think of a million different ways to do that storyline that actually might have a smidge of plausibility. Boo. And Carrie and Aayan....damn...I guess she does have a magic snatch. It makes no sense for him to suddenly feel the "need to be honest" just because she was all Crying McCryerson in bed. He has a piece of leverage and it makes no sense for him to use it right now. Whatevs. Quinn's unintended dry sense of humor is basically one of the only reasons I watch this show. His "and I didn't even have to shoot anyone" to Fara and then the "fucking a child" comment to Carrie. Oh Quinn. Love him. Saul. While I don't want anything to happen to him and I doubt anything will, I kinda like that he is the one who is in the line of fire since we've seen for seasons now him being willing to put his agents and assets into incredibly dangerous situations. It's his turn now. I have no doubt though that Quinn will end up saving him and probably the day. I do wonder how much Fara will end up having to compromise herself throughout this season and what she is willing to do in the name of the job and the US of A. So, the Ambassador's husband is getting dirt on Carrie? So he goes into her apartment and takes pictures of things that anyone could find out by googling? Okay then. That seems chuck full of stupid and pointless. All in all...other than Quinn and all things Quinn related, totally not feeling this season.

S04.E03: Edward Mordrake, Part 1
shelley1234 replied to Tara Ariano's topic in American Horror Story
For me, that is the part I have responded to the most so far. It's real and yes, horribly depressing. The idea that having to live her life the way she did brought her to a life of pain and alcoholism and in turn an untimely death. I also thought Kathy Bates played that pain and desperation with such an authenticity, but then again that didn't surprise me at all given Bates acting chops. -
I doubt it. To me the blonde is clearly more into him than the other way around. She was just fulfilling a need IMO. The tv site is clearly supposed to be something like tinder....and given how communities often feel that they can police the private lives of their teachers, I can see how she would not openly share it. I know a lot of teachers and many won't have a FB page because they don't want to worry about it effecting their job.

That was my favorite moment of the episode....when Beth totally took the guy down and then looked at Jack and just said "you're welcome." Loved it. I did find the stalker of the week to be interesting....using people's fears to get off. As soon as the girl (patient zero) said the stalker was afraid of heights, I knew that they would use that to stop him. I do wonder why stalker boy went to a place so high up though when I am sure he could have many more options. I know it is his dad's old abandoned office or whatever, but branch out. Jack sleeping with the blonde, which just serves to move the storyline of the increasing sexual tension between Beth and Jack and the "will they or won't they" during the season. She'll find out, be disgusted, but just a wee bit too disgusted...and obviously covering the denial that she is bothered deep down inside. I've seen this done a million times....I have watched the CW before and all. Hey...at least the creepy Beth stalker's art is pretty gosh darn good.

I'll say it was rape. Carrie is in a position of power and control over Aayan. When that is the case legally the person is not able to consent and therefore it is rape. He is in the position of believing that Carrie is the only one who can get him out of the country, keep him safe and get him back into medical school. If Aayan rebuked her advances then he risks her not doing those things and therefore even though he doesn't say no and actively participates, I question his ability to consent.

As someone else said upthread, the mother in law basically said the same thing to Alison saying if they have another baby she should live there so she can get "help" with the hanging assumption that whatever happened with their son could have been prevented. I am assuming the season will flesh out how her son died and I am anxiously awaiting that info. I never find Joshua Jackson unattractive. It's a problem...that I feel no need to find a solution to. Hummina. Me likey.

Hmm. I'm still not sure what I think of this show and count with me the group of people watching for Josh Jackson. I'd watch him read out of the phone book. I do think the heavy foreshadowing makes it seem like it is Cole who is the one who died. I did see Allison getting emotional talking about whoever it is who died when she was in the "now" interview with the cop talking about whoever it was who died. It only confirmed for me that it is probably Cole who was run down. The fish delivery did seem chuck full of weird. I thought drugs as well. Maybe it is what supplements the farm business for the Lockharts. I also think they must not be talking about the party in the episode since that would mean that the death happened that night. The show seems to be showing the "then" in chronical order, so it would seem bizarre if the death/murder happened right after the point we are seeing. However it seemed like they were talking about the party that she spent the whole last episode talking about....so color me confused. The biggest difference in the two stories for me was how Alison sees Noah's wife. She is shown as this waspy cold mean woman, who treats people and especially staff as if they are below her. Contrast that with the warm woman that we see in Noah's side....a caring mom, a caring daughter, a loving wife...and someone who is so bothered that her whoring father is bringing his mistress to her mother's party. That was incredibly interesting to me. The Lockhart bro who was flirting with the 16 yr old daughter of Noah's (can't remember her name)....yeah, creepy. I did appreciate both Cole and Alison trying to be like "Dude...no" to him in different situations during the episode. Blergh.

I think Carrie did think it was necessary and the line from Fara that he would never go along with the plan....I knew it was coming. And of course it is a convenient plot device for Quinn to go all love sick crazy mid mission when he learns of this. As with many others, I am much more intrigued with the other side of the plot....with the hubby/professor being the one selling the info and clearly having no idea what a real clusterfuck he has gotten himself into. I imagine Sandy isolated and hid the grim realities, but now that Sandy was used as a pawn in their game, hubby is smack down in the middle of it.

I had always assumed that this newly surfaced "proof" about Tom's whereabouts and his key card and pics of him in the facility was at the hands of Papa Pope. When Tom seemed to be dragging his feet on the orders to kill Jake, I think Papa Pope realized that his allegiance may be to Jake and not him, so he sweet into action with the intention to kill two birds with one stone.
