  1. It really doesn't sound like this to me. Everyone was talking over everyone, no one was being listened to. It doesn't sound like Ashley was treated any differently than any of the others, but she shut herself down and the others didn't. Maybe she realized the futility of it and stopped talking and maybe the others took that as her not participating, hence they chose her as the weakest link. Heidi, Kelly Osborne, and Lori stirred the shit enough to make it seem like Ashley was badly treated, but I seriously doubt there was some grand conspiracy against her. YMMV.
  2. Color was the least of the problems with Ashley's collection, IMO.
  3. I didn't think any of the cakes looked appetizing with the candy spilling out like that. I didn't realize that when they said "stuffed cake" they meant exactly that--put unchanged candies in the middle, even if they are wrapped. Is that really a thing? No thanks, I don't see how that adds anything to a cake experience. I've heard of the pink/blue thing for a baby shower, but for the cake itself, not candies inside. I like that each competition is a new one and the judges aren't basing decisions on past performance. That's unusual in American competition shows and I hope they keep it up.
  4. I still feel that if Swapnil did have a strategy to hold himself back, SO WHAT!?! Until it showed up on the runway and was reflected in the judges' decision, uncorrupted by Tim's interference, it's not relevant to a results-based competition. Tim can personally dislike his work ethic all he wants, but going to the judges was out of line, IMO. Re Ashley and the mean girls, I think Ashley needs to take her share of the blame. They were all at fault for the terrible collection. I think Ashley went into it with a huge chip on her shoulder, and who likes to work with someone with a wounded air trying to make you feel guilty? Given the small margin of difference in the awfulness of all the garments, Ashley's was an acceptable choice as the worse. Kelly Osborne and Heidi were out of line, too, with the egging on. Everyone needs to grow up. YMMV. Gee, this reunion didn't change my opinion one iota, just stirred up all the nastiness. I guess that's what reunions are for.
  5. I'm going to have to read the posts before deciding if I want to watch it. If Tim comes off all smug and justified I might puke. I'm sure they will also drag out every scrap of indignity suffered by Ashley by being picked last for the team challenge.
  6. Hee. When I saw how much peppermint extract he was pouring into the bowl, I thought to myself, "This isn't going to end well." Looked like he poured half the bottle in there. I don't bake at all and I know "extract" is code for "use only a very little."
  7. Yeah, it's too bad the judges let her slide. Other self-proclaimed "types" of designers, such as "underground" or "surreal" or whatever they called themselves got called on when the proof wasn't in the pudding. Ashley would have benefited a lot more by coming in second or third, with a "We don't think you're quite there yet as a PS designer" instead of a win.
  8. I'd have been happy with any of the three, but based solely on the challenges last night, I think the right person won. I like that the show really did judge based on what they did that weekend, even if I think over the course of the show Kimberley was a better baker. What a great show.
  9. I don't think so. For the demographic they each chose to design for, Kelly's was much more successful, IMO. I didn't see this at all. She designed for pear-shaped only, and didn't even make them look that good. When she had an apple shaped model in the crew challenge, it was an epic failure. It was like she didn't have a clue as to how to design something for some one without a very defined waist who didn't want her upper arms exposed. To call yourself a PS designer and not be able to do that means you're not a PS designer, IMO.
  10. I really enjoyed tonight's episode. Some of the those wreaths were gorgeous. I'm not into monochromatic decorations, but the fact that Steve made three different cookies perfectly earned him the win. I thought the "forest floor" one was visual perfection. I have to admit that I wasn't expecting the level of baking I'm seeing after being spoiled by The Great British Baking Show. I'm glad I was wrong.
  11. Since OMG A PLUS SIZE FW SHOW seems to be such a innovative, daring thing to do, I bet these models do mainly print work and so don't have the same experience in actually walking a runway show.
  12. Does anyone know if the eliminated designers are still sequestered for the duration? If so, Swapnil would not have had any extra time to actually do any sewing. Any of the designers could have a collection all ready to walk too, given they had the financial resources. Anyone going on this show who doesn't already have their collection all scoped out at least on paper is nuts, IMO. I'd have patterns made and fabrics selected if not purchased.
  13. I was expecting Kelly to win and was actually shocked they gave the win to Ashley. But I did think Ashley's place in the final four was preordained and she was ushered along with undeserved praise. Yes, I do think this was a decision based on how it would affect the media.
  14. Not that much more time. S3 was filmed in June and they showed in the September FW. They maybe had nine weeks max. S5 had two months. But somehow S3 and S5 designers managed to do so much more with just 2 extra weeks. S2 had seven months and Daniel V still showed up with things not done. More time is not always going to result in exponentially better results.
  15. Ashley really should know what the posters are saying if she's going to accuse us of prejudice. She should know that a good number of the posts are from plus size women, who certainly are not anti-plus size anything. We are entitled to think her collection is ugly and inappropriate.
  16. I think a lot of the anger about the result is coming because Ashley promoted herself as a plus size designer from day one, and to me that means designing for the fuller figure in mind, not just making big clothes. The judges giving her the win is, in my mind, their completely washing their hands of the whole issue by saying, "We have a plus size collection! Good for us!" without REALLY going into what designing plus-size clothes entails and how Ashley did or did not address those issues. They went for the sound bite, not the substance. So, yes, as a plus size women, I am insulted they paid such little heed to the very real issues involved in designer for larger figures, and promoting those clothes as a sop. It's hypocritical that Ashley wasn't held to the same standards of actually making her models look as good as they can as past winners.
  17. ITA. Those skirts made those not-so-plus-size women look like they had huge hips and thighs. Anyone larger wouldn't wear it. Nina and Zac failed in their role of fashion experts in not exposing the inappropriateness of it.
  18. OMG. They did it, they actually did it. I yelled "NOOOOOOO!" so loud I scared my dog. Terrible decision.
  19. Tim and Heidi need to acknowledge the role they have played in the degeneration of the show, instead of blaming the designers.
  20. I thought he said he was dangerously allergic to nuts. He called his pecans little balls of death or something. Does anyone know how they film this, meaning are they all living together or do they just show for weekends like The Great British Baking Show?
  21. Hee. For some reason the movie "Aliens" sprang to my mind. If I got a handshake from Paul I'd swoon.
  22. Fashion designers shouldn't make things that make the customer look worse than the customer can. It's just as possible to design something totally inappropriate for a too-thin person as an overweight one. Remember S1 Alexandra's micro-bikini for skeletal Erin? To me, Ashley's designs in this minicollection would make true plus-size females (size 20+) look worse than they could and would subject them to ridicule. The judges can tiptop around that as much as they like, but picture a truly large women in those crop tops and skin-tight see-through skirt or with her bra hanging out. I'm sorry, but I am a plus size women and I don't see anything wrong in admitting there are things I simply cannot wear. Ashley did not design for me, she just made regular designs in a slightly larger size. The elephant in the room is trumpeting away but no one will acknowledge it. Ashley herself provided a good example. She wore two different skirts in the episode, that voluminous yellow one with the gathered waist, and a sleeker one in an animal print(?). She looked much better, IMO, in the brown one that wasn't gathered. YMMV.
  23. In Siriano's season, only Chris and Ramy had to present a minicollection, as only one of them could compete in the finale. They hadn't started insisting on seeing a sample of the collection merely to critique all of them back then. They started doing that in S6, where there was no need to see a mini, but they did anyway, and have ever since. I think these days, Siriano's would have gotten much the same reaction as Candace's did.
  24. I didn't have the negative impression of Candace that others had, even though I never liked her aesthetic. But as a viewer, I would much rather watch an exuberant, over-the-top FW show that the designer herself was excited about than a dumb-down, scaled-back version by a devastated, flailing designer. Why not just let the designers show what they want? It can't possibly be more embarrassing than years when PR had 7 decoy collections.
  25. I think Swapnil was lucky not having to have a minicollection critiqued. They probably would have told him he needed to add shorts. Swapnil's is by far the best, IMO, and it looked like it would move beautifully too. I hope he got lots of good press out of it. Candice dumbed her's down so much that when I looked at the pictures before last night, I couldn't decide who made Candice's and Edmond's, they ended up looking so much alike. Way to go, judge's. Let take all the exuberance and individuality out of the collections.
