S07.E14: Conch Blocked

I really wanted to like this season...but I just cannot seem to get into it. I like Kristen, I think they do not give her airtime on purpose since she isn't all swear'y and drinking all the time.. Dorinda? I think we're finally seeing the real Dorinda...and well after a few drinks, she is not attractive...also? was anyone else HUGELY distracted by the food bits on Dorinda's lips? drove me crazy! She sounded like my crazy aunt Gracie when she has one too many whiskey sours lol. Ramona? please..just go...between the what seems to be the continuous tipsy'ness and trying way too hard with guys and "flirting"...I miss when we saw her WORK....she's been reduced to a wine guzzling divorcee who just seems to be falling apart (I've been a widow and divorced so I understand the stress) I like Luann...I don't care if she smokes..she comes across as not too offensive plus she is a true beauty... Well the others....who are they? B, Heather and Sunya (lol) just can go away...Oh and Carole too...I mean, Carrie Bradshaw part deux! -
Making Ina's Recipes at Home: How Easy is That?
autumnh replied to Bastet's topic in Barefoot Contessa
I am 50 come January....I was widowed at age 23 in Brooklyn, NY...I am Irish Catholic and my late husband was jewish....everyone brought food...from Boars Head cold Cut trays with salads, breads..italian pastries, cookies...to the jewish knishes, matzo ball soup, matzo brei, challah, bagels & lox...you name....as sad as it is...funeral food is varied and well...even in mourning? delicious. -
Marie i thought she was going to throw it down when she lost....I still have it on DVR...she was pissed lol
-
I won't miss her....it isn't like she has been prevalent the past few seasons. It really is time for Nene and her ego to move on.
-
I DVR'ed it...and when I finally watched it yesterday I thought to myself not another brisket/breakfast sandwich/pasta show.. Ree needs to break out of the box and mix it up...and not use recipes from church cookbooks ;) I think it is why I love Ina so much...yes she rehashes recipes but she always makes the components interesting..and her food is easy but elegant. She also uses Rao's jarred marinara at times...but I have been to Rao's...good stuff! Ree seems to be more of a Ragu girl lol

Ina made "Company Pot Roast" for Dwyers dinner...and Dwyer brought her the Chinese take out. -
Well my family is from Naples (Castiellammare 'e Stabia) and my nonna always used a tablespoon of sugar..it's not like a cup of sugar...and besides..it isn't who is right or wrong...every Nonna has their way :)
-
Ha Gris! so true! LOL I finally watched the new episode this morning ...more pulled pork and cole slaw? come ON..she just keeps recycling those same recipes. Oh and it is GREASED...not GREAZZED..drive me nuts lol
-
to each his own....even when I went to Naples they used a bit of sugar.....it is all about our personal tastes though! ...although I make a fab Scachatta w/ fresh veggies..I roast my own veggies and bake my own bread... Although...I think you need to put it into perspective....when making a huge pot of Sunday sauce....1 tsp of sugar is nothing in the grand scheme of things....I am curious as to your aversion...did they use more at some point? I will never not make it any other way...I also cook my sauce with hot and sweet italian sausage as well as braciole! deliciousness!
-
I am Italian raised in Brooklyn...I don't know anyone in my family who hasn't put some sugar in marinara (Sunday sauce)..it helps to offset the acidity of tomato...I also ONLY use San Marzano tomatoes...it always makes for a better sauce :)

When he said that this "trip" was four episodes...all I could think to myself was....sweet baby jesus...this reunion is going to last 6 weeks lol... Two weeks...even one...wrap it up! Do not prolong the misery...I mean really...Bethenny will cry the WHOLE time...I can see it now. -

I think Bethenny has a VERY short fuse and tolerance level....which might make for good reality tv for it isn't good for her image...it does not make the typical woman feel bad for her..and somehow? I think Andy(who is close to her) KNEW Bethenny and her fragile state would make for good tv...how could you be her friend and NOT know how fragile she was. -

I agree! Although I did say poking the bear meaning saying anything that would automatically piss her off and have her run of sobbing. We've all had to deal with STUFF...as much as I wanted to run off crying, I didn't...I was rich with a nanny and a tv camera in my face...I had to keep my sh*t together. -

EXACTLY! Bethenny has done this before...she knew full well what she'd have to do and what the expectations would be... She is not a RH virgin...she has ridden this bull before. -

Well isn't that the purpose of the RHONY? being friends with people you don't know or care for? If she didn't want to be forced to be friends with people she didn't want to....girl should not have come back lol -

It is a shame that Heather isn't filming her struggles with Jax this year... I am MORE than sure that Bethenny knows about their struggle with his liver transplant/hearing impairment issues. I don't see Bethenny even trying to be "kinda sorta kind" about it..even if it isn't a storyline. Bethenny just seems so much more self absorbed these days. It isn't flattering. Bethenny strikes me as one of those people who will always, always find a reason to be offended even when someone is just trying to be nice. -

Sorry...but the seemingly endless Bethenny meltdowns/crying jags/defensiveness way overshadows her witty quips/remarks a few times an episode. I always liked Bethenny before she left...but she is exhausting to watch since she came back. Ramona? well...I don't think we should ever expect anything more than we've ever gotten from her. -

As I said last week. Bethenny - stop f*cking crying! I cannot watch her. As boring as Heater & Kristen are this season...i'd watch them 24/7 over 45 minutes of Bethenny and her perpetual meltdowns... Girl needs some emotional rehab...seriously. Can you imagine her breaking down like this in front of Bryn? Oy vey. -

Agreed! the show took ALL of the credit for the little bit of work they did...it is deceptive and disheartening...Dena is VERY lucky that the community came together to do the work that Food Network couldn't be bothered with. We couldn't believe that Dena actually allowed the community to donate money and do the work knowing it is for sale....search Loopnet in Monroe Michigan...it is all there. Dena's http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/19014281/15391-S-Dixie-Monroe-MI/ -

Cooks, so did we!! I was like...why didn't they do the whole damn diner? the budget for the show much be very low LOL Also? when they showed her (and I just watched it again) in her car....surprisingly equipped with a camera...her fake acting.."what the heck"? I said to my husband...i'm done lol...reality shows are so not real lol More proof that she was well aware... http://www.monroenews.com/news/2015/jun/13/owner-thankful-work-tv-show-community-refreshing-d/ Although the back half looks great...the community came together and raised funds and finished it themselves...kudos to the community
