  1. Dear or dear, Jon interviewing a "young" Wolf Blitzer. Wonder if he looked back on that interview once Jon announced his retirement.
  2. TDS surprised me for letting celebrities present the tribute segments, defying my expectations of just allowing correspondents. Maybe they'll be saving their most successful alumni near the end.
  3. Hmm...bit of an odd topic, but I can divulge a little on that. I think researching/reporting on the nonsense of the political/media spectrum can take a toll on his psyche. He just seems like the guy who is so passionate about his beliefs and comedy that it just broke him down, and he needs that energy to spend his time with his kids. Perhaps that is why he is settling down back in New Jersey and running an animal rescue with his wife. He's been so engrossed with his job at the Daily Show that he needs to return his family's patience and support by devoting the rest of his life helping his loved ones. With that out of the way, you also raise another question(s) about the status of the Daily Show post-Jon Stewart. Before Trevor Noah's debut, will the show be on hiatus altogether? Will they have to reconstruct the entire set to suit Trevor's style or keep the Fake News Set? Why can't the 3 house correspondents rotate as host just like correspondents of years' past? Will Larry Wilmore take over the 11 PM slot and be our only source of satire until Trevor debuts? Does that also mean Chris Hardwick will have to awkwardly host @midnight at 11:30 AGAIN? Will the gap have the Daily Show still be Daily, Weekly, or at least Monthly after Jon retires?
  4. I agree Jordan did a great job tonight, and Jon rescuing Jordan from inhaling mercury was not just sweet and breaks the "on location" gimmick, but his rescue encapsulates him showing dignity to human people. I feel like outside his rants with the media (especially FOX NEWS), at least he respects humanity no matter which side of the situation they are on, even though I know Jordan was just pretending. That was a nice reminder how much I'll miss him and his humility.
  5. From what I interpreted from Mr. Demary's tweet, I think he might be a little jealous about Ollie-Scone's privilege. Need I have to remind Demary that Ollie-Scone is a comedian, not a journalist nor blogger, nor essayist (unless a setlist of topics for stand-up counts as an essay). He probably feels inferior that a comedian is doing the work of a newsman or journalist, when really it's obvious that comedians are one medium to understanding a complex world. If Demary wants to cover an underrated issue/topic, find an underrated topic and come up with your own arguments instead of leaving the dirty work to the comedian fool. With that out of the way, I don't blame Demary for posting that tweet for a reason. Because Ollie-Scone is covering rarely-discussed topics, he is credited for starting a conversation on that topic, which satire stems into once the stupidity and ignorance of the subject is addressed. Either he wants individuals to be responsible for finding underrated issues without a comedian telling you to do so and to be proactive in the conversation, or he is jealous that Ollie-Scone has privilege and really wants to take over LWT. What a desperate attention-seeker. -_-
  6. Alright, I've formulated my feelings, and I know I'm in the minority, but I do agree that even with her popularity, Jessica Williams wouldn't be qualified as the host. Not because she's an amazing correspondent, but I do get that tilting feeling about the style of commentary she's delivered in the last 3 years. Sure, she touched on long overdue subjects like cat-calling, and I still crack up when she was talking with the street preachers opposing gay marriage. I just don't think she's "funny" material, and the reaction of the viewers is evidence. Don't get me wrong, it's understandable that she is finally giving more of her voice into the subject at hand, and for the most part her commentary should garner a punchline "laugh track". But after watching many of her clips, ESPECIALLY THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF TRUMP'S CANDIDACY, I think she's less of a goofball correspondent like her predecessors, but more of the straight man could make her relatable to anyone's reaction. I do like that approach, but for some reason, her "straight man" style just feels off. She's more preachy and cathartic than being preachy and cathartic with effective jokes to back it up. Maybe it's just the audience's reaction, or the fact that women's issues is still part of the conversation, but I think she channels an "Oprah Winfrey" vibe than a "Fake News Show"vibe. That doesn't mean I don't like her, she actually outmatches the other boys in the segments, it's just her style is different and not my cup of tea but I can acknowledge that a correspondent has the privilege of putting their own voice in their humor. I'm just hoping in the future she can step up the goofiness and deliver a segment with plaudits AND laughter. And once again, any commenters who find this post: I understand that she projects your feelings and opinions in the situation, I just wish she could show more of that youthful, light-heartedness for her younger audiences, not like fake-reality TV style but yeah.
  7. Well it looks like you were right, trow125. Larry giving full support for Bree Newsome justifies how amazing she is and how bad South Carolina's reputation is looking since they aren't discussing flag removal. Now, considering that I've been keeping a close eye on Jonny-bun's show with the final weeks drawing near, I was very interested how both TDS and TNS would handle the overall coverage of the Same-Sex Marriage Ruling. While I do think Jonny-bun is taking a victory run picking out Scalia and all the conservatives whining about the end of democracy (and the cute Scalia cartoon), props to Larry for at least giving the Main Story a quintessential treatment, with all the Rainbow Pride. I would have liked to see Jonny-bun wave the Rainbow flag just like Ollie-Scone did during his hosting term, but alas, you can't have everything (not even a extra run for Jonny-bun). And congrats, Jake Tapper, for making it on both shows thanks to your interview with Trump, further proving just how idiotic he is for running. Seriously, he almost ran in 2012, or to go way back, 1999. Just jibber-jab long enough until Jonny-bun retires, von Clownstick. Now if you need me, I'm gonna tweet Larry and ask if he's got any leftover champagne so I can guzzle my joy.
  8. That Antonin Scalia cartoon was pretty cute, gripping the sadness of not getting his way. Does anyone know the style of animation they were trying to use? Was it from a comic or short cartoon or something cuz it looks vaguely familiar.
  9. To commemorate the Supreme Court Ruling Upholding Gay Marriage, 2 clips from 1999 and 2015: Alternative Homosexual Center (then), and The Last Hurrah for the Hate Class of 2015 (courtesy of Jessica Williams) Look how far we've come. :)
  10. Ok 2 questions to clarify: Does that mean Jon's final episode will be live streamed too? And its going to be live at 7:17 pm (or in my region, 4:17 p.m.)? If that is what Comedy Central has confirmed, I'm so excited (and sad that it's getting closer to the end). T_Y
  11. Fox News switching the conversation on the Confederate flag as an offense on Southern Pride, as well as Hannity's fallible argument about the flag...(sigh) same old, same old. Personally, I thought Napolitano wasn't too bad; attention hogging the audience aside, at least he respects Jon, and he did make an indirect point that comedians should take over the Senate. If he wasn't hosting "The Late Show" in a few months, I could see Stephen Colbert as a South Carolina Senator. :P And if I can point out the previous episode before today's, it just seems unbelievable that there are only a couple weeks left before Jon retires, and the constant tributes (especially this week's) have to remind us how much news, gags, research and effort Jon has put to do the show. All I can do is salute him. BTW, I wouldn't be surprised if previous colleagues/correspondents will be presenting the compilations of Jon in the following weeks; it would just be the perfect opportunity, I can feel it.
  12. This is the second time Ryan utilized the music equipment, which makes me wonder if he has a music fetish. That or versatility. I don't mind either. :P For any avid Whose Line, watching Colin behind snippets of Colin from previous episodes brings back good memories, doesn't it? Pretty cool Jeff channeled his Keanu Reeves. Unfortunately, his Matrix reference regurgitates my intolerance for The Wachowskis' works. The Matrix is so-so, and Sense8 on Netflix has some pretty deep (and coherent) moments, but the rest... meh. And did I hear a harmony hit with high notes during that Ska song? Just....beautiful. <3 Overall, a good standard episode. Not the greatest, but I'll take Jeff (or any 4th seater) for any celebrity guest (unless their efforts dispel my expectations).
  13. If Jonny-bun couldn't confront the blindness of Fox News, Larry puts the whole situation into full circle. Seriously, feels like yesterday was more than just mourning about the 9 victims. Glad Larry covered Charleston without holding back.
  14. It's listed on the web that (including tonight), he only has 23 episodes left: A.K.A., fewer episodes than Ollie-Scone's interim host run. T_T
  15. Judging by the latest tweets from the staff, I believe we all know what we want Jonny-bun to cover tonight. Not sure if it will be convincing enough to keep him on the air though, but it's been a while. ;)
  16. I thought tonight's episode was... okay. I was hoping Wayne would burst into butt-shaking or "twerking" for Song Styles. The music had an "Anaconda" feel. Overrall, a pretty good episode. Now if only we can stop the executives from repeating Dubbing and Living Scenery because I just noticed the restrained audience behind Aisha. Why do I get that feeling that they also wanted more variety in the games? I don't know if it's their manners holding them back from laughing too crazy...
  17. Shame Jonny-bun didn't talk about Murdoch's resignation, but at least he made up for it with his takedown of Rumsfeld. Even though he will retire, I feel like Jonny-bun is giving us hope that one day the viewers, or anyone in the future, will continue to point out the mistakes of Rumsfeld and everyone involved in the Iraq war. It's like he's "passing the torch" of rationalization to his listeners.
  18. As of today, I am certain the current roster of correspondents will stay on the show, mostly because of the amount of experience they have on the show, Jessica especially. But now I have to yield for Al, who appears on rare occasions as much as Lewis Black. I know the water gimmick is more of a water show-off to Californians, but I wonder if the East Coast's sufficient water supplication will be enough to keep Al on the show a little longer. That being said, Al had a little too much fun with his water fetishes. :P
  19. Hmmm... two undecided guest slots. Beats me as to know what TDS is saving those for. As for Apatow, I thought he was appearing for early promotions of his latest Rom-com, "Trainwreck", since I'm seeing a lot of promotion for that movie around the net. I've just recently became an Amy Schumer fan, but to her credit, is the movie really good?
  20. I highly doubt anyone would remember this, but since I love Pokemon, I couldn't resist this segment: Completely channeled my inner geek and love for Slowking. http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/meop9j/indecision-2012---oh--the-hermanity-
  21. Oh yea, drinking in Sepp's demise is both a win for soccer (football) fans as well as John Oliver fans who want to see him in golden wing Hermes Adidas. But taking a bite in a Dollar Value meal makes him a bigger pussy more than his Give Em 20 push-up campaign. But I'll forgive him for keeping his word regardless.
  22. Ok, I gotta be honest: IT'S BEEN THREE SEASONS AND I THINK IT'S TIME TO LET GO OF THE CELEBRITY GUEST GIMMICK. It's probably because Aisha is finally adjusting with the cast's insanity that she can handle Wayne (and Colin) making fun of her (directly), just like Drew in the previous seasons. I thought it was a pretty strong and hilarious gag that doesn't need celebrity (or in this case, Glee fans) approval to lure in audiences. I think that's what makes WL so genuine that sets it apart from other standard TV shows. While certain people can show chemistry through the dialogues they have to convey to each other, WL is completely improvised, out-of-nowhere, and even unedited moments shown in its rawest fashion. That near-flub during Scenes from a Hat is one example. The chemistry between the cast members and host is enough for WL to stand on its own that viewers can enjoy. Bringing Heather Morris into the fray is just like being the 4th seater: you just fill the void to satisfy audiences, whether or not you know about WL or you've watched them on another TV network. I applaud Heather for her efforts, but all I can remember is the "Aisha impression" gag, as well as that one song from Greatest Hits. As a heavy K-Pop listener, Thank God Colin had the nerve to expose this genre into the show, then twisted it into a Johnny Cash song (He was also right how many idols just use their first name instead of their whole name). They kinda got the idea of K-Pop, though I expected something more electronic and dance-y, but I'll take what I get. Also, men-kissing, ear-nipping, and Wayne's "bump in my surfboard" gag is always welcomed. Seriously, CW. I think WL can hold on its own so lay off a bit on celebrity bookings. Also, give Colin a break in Dubbing and give Brad a chance to do the game. He did a good job when he did it in the previous WL seasons.
  23. Well, iMonrey, you and Victor are right. That woman at the end of Jordan's segment was his wife, Laura Grey. She's also part of the Upright Citizens Brigade NY like her husband and and they both released a few web videos "chronicling" the weeks in preparation of the wedding. She writes, acts, improvises and creates sketches; in other words, she's like Samantha Bee. If there are more openings for correspondents (if the Trevor Noah era will need any) I hope she'll audition for a correspondent. Gotta keep the tradition of having a correspondent couple... ;)
  24. Call me naïve, but what does TPTB stand for? Also, Wayne just nailed that last suggestion, though I was expecting Colin (the most Canadian rapper before Drake (I AM NOT COUNTING BIEBER)) would step in and show he's got the skill. :P Also, coincidence Colin wore a camouflage shirt when Willie Robinson was on. Ah, America... I would say now that WL is gaining more viewers, I'd hope they'd do some holiday-themed episodes like 4th of July, but I think it would be unlikely especially since Colin is Canadian, but I think I'm well aware after watching him all these years is that the US has gladly accepted him. He's like America's Canadian Sweetheart of Comedy. Maybe a Canada-themed episode of WL? :P
  25. I'm not a soccer fan nor do I aspire to enter into the business enterprises, but that FIFA story must have LWT gleefully shoved every other underrated main story topic aside for that one story, which is why the final product was somewhat underwhelming, but still GLORIOUS. One thing I do have to point out: when Ollie-Scone was addressing the FIFA sponsors, I thought he was pulling a Colbert when he would willingly drink a Bud Light Lime. It reminded me of Colbert's endorsement for that drink back in TCR, but with Ollie-Scone doing the exact opposite by eviscerating the product. Coincidence, no?
